Mmm...Braanz!

DDR, we'd be happy to schedule something for you. Currently we're performing in Millen Hills, we've already hit Powlett Road Police Station, St. Dionysius's Hospital, and a special Matinee in the Rowe building just this morning. You should be able to find us somewhere around there. We actually prefer performing for survivors, as they have much more theatrically receptive (and tasty) braanz to snack on during and after the show.--Oliver Donahue 15:07, 31 August 2007 (BST)

You're doing some serious page editing. Just checked my watchlist and like 5 things were edited by DDR. Gotta love wiki procrastination. I also find the beavers forum to great for time wasting. Theres such a constantly updated treasure trove of info there :P --Jed 13:24, 26 October 2007 (BST)

Re: New Group

Hey Charlie, its Toby, just letting ya know I'm interested in your new group, let me know what I gotta do to get involved.

Cheers--CounterStruck 12:02, 17 October 2007 (BST)

Re: Re: this page

You're welcome :) All the best with your new group, it's looking pretty cool. I'm glad that you're still writing your Travelog, it's always a laugh. Perhaps you'll run into one of my alts on your travels, none of them stay in the same place too long, but it could happen. Keep up the good work! --Bob Fortune RR 16:06, 21 October 2007 (BST)

the contact is http://www.urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=1018967 and i just got revived in Dulston! --Lewin 07:06, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

are you serious? that sucks. oh well, i only had it there so that the DA guys wouldn't kill me while i was doing my zombie experiments. haha. i hope they don't read this. --Lewin 07:27, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
We read EVERYTHING. The Alliance knows all... sees all. ;) --Mobius187 November 2 2007, 11:04 AM (EST)

woah, the alliance really is everywhere... I added a news section to the ATO page, first of all to let people know about Dulston, and second, so they can tell us what they're doing. seem ok?

Danger Level: Dulston

I just wanted to let you know that the danger level for Dulston actually was changed. Originally it was "Safe" (green) and then they changed it to "Moderate Danger" (yellow), as the current threat involves a single zombie mob breaking into one building at a time. You may wish to retract your news post, but that's your call. :) --Mobius187 November 7 2007, 8:08 AM (EST)

Speaking of the danger level in dulston, check out this site http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Infected_Swarm. It's a zombie group dedicated to destroying dulston. I can't believe i never clued on to them. No one has said anything about them. It is on the alliance wiki of course, but i don't know, i just didn't realise what was going on. It's that group in northern Dulston at the moment. Dangerous. It's going to be fun moving in there. --Lewin 07:48, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Vote

Why not? I would have thought it's been fairly thoroughly explained why not. --Cyberbob DORIS CGR U! 11:42, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

You should actually be asking the question "Why?", as opposed to "Why not?", though i think that, as cyberbob has pointed out, your question has already been soundly answered. Check the policies talk page for more info. Big read though. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 11:43, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

So now I am going to get criticized for voting in what I thought would be good. Well, my entry into wiki politics was short lived. Thanks guys. DanceDanceRevolution 21:37, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
You aren't being criticised... it's just that "Why not?" doesn't exactly show a high level of understanding of the policy. I can't speak for Grim, but I'm simply seeking clarification. --Cyberbob DORIS CGR U! 01:05, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
Charlie you suck how dare you try and get involved in wiki politics. *crushes DDR's fragile spirit, CRUSHES!!!* --Jed 06:42, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
Best too get out sooner rather then later, it'll take years off of your life.--Karekmaps?! 06:52, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
Fair enough. And to Cyberbob, I'm not giving clarification. I don't want my talk page to become 'sysops review talk page: the sequel' DanceDanceRevolution 05:42, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
It wouldn't have even had this much if you'd have made a proper vote in the first place. --Cyberbob DORIS CGR U! 06:52, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
I question the definition of a 'proper vote'. A vote is a vote and I voted and put a comment there. So please leave it be, its stupid and pointless. I am hoping you don't do this to everyone who votes against you. DanceDanceRevolution 06:56, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
No, only those who can't be bothered to show an understanding of the topic. That's what I meant by a "proper vote". --Cyberbob DORIS CGR U! 06:57, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
Proper vote, being one not fueled by sysop buttkissing. DanceDanceRevolution 06:37, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Believe it or not, it is possible to agree with someone without "buttkissing". I could argue the same, insinuating completely groundlessly - as you have done - that you are, in fact, the one kissing up to Akule. You'll note I'm not doing that. --Cyberbob DORIS CGR U! 06:40, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
You got to me before I could delete the comment I made. I also have no idea who Akule is. DanceDanceRevolution 07:59, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Thus proving you have no idea of what's going on. Akule is the one who wrote the policy. --Cyberbob DORIS CGR U! 08:37, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Well Charlie, you have learnt the way of the Sysop. Make a controlling comment, back it up with mindless drivel, and if you end up getting proved wrong, ban the cunt. Cyberbob is still in mindless drivel mode. Someones a bit upset that they might lose their authority over many nerd minions.--MichaelRead 10:54, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Minions? What minions? I'm not a sysop, in case you didn't get the memo. --Cyberbob DORIS CGR U! 11:09, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
No, i didnt get the memo! Your unnecessary comments on this page led me to believe that you were one of them. You know, with the one-eyed wiki politics and all. I am not posting here anymore, by the way. This is clogging up a user page that is too pretty to ruin. I'll just talk about this with DDR in person, so that I wont agitate you, with my misinformation and inability to understand why he is not allowed to say whatever the hell he wants, when he uses his own vote. Bye!--MichaelRead 11:19, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Oh and by the way, before you come back with a quip that most definitely makes me look a little silly, I was not looking for a fight. I dont want one. I just think your comments weren't needed. End of posting, now.--MichaelRead 11:23, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

New shooting gallery at Clewett

Hey, DDR, hope you're well. Looks like the unwashed (and undead) masses have decided to reopen the shooting gallery at Clewett Alley Police Department. You and your group are more than welcome to stop by and pick up a couple hundred experience points whenever you want. Spicer Row is up to Very Heavily right now, because the stupid camp followers would be inside, begging for scraps, if we didn't. Keep the faith. -- Freddy 15:07, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Yo, DDR, thanks for the reinforcements. One of our people knocked out a pair of zeds outside your HQ this morning, I think it was Annie (Eatsome Smores). She reported 20+ inside Clewett and three outside Spicer Row. The barricades went down last night and I'm sure they'll try again tonight. Apparently, they none have jobs and stay up too late watching prime-time TV, so they log in at the same time (unless it's all one guy) and attack as a group (for once). I had the most productive ammo search I ever had today, and will be going out to poke around sometime Friday, probably. -- Freddy 14:12, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Getting a Mansion HQ...

I think that it would be more prestigious if we got Alner Mansion as it is two squares north of Ridleybank. It would be practical to run it as an RP as there is a NT building nearby but then we would be faced with having to manage an NT building as well as a Mansion. I'll have a look at the possibility of this working in a week or so, I have to soak in Chancelwood for my Log.

The Malton Iditarod. Sound pretty fun, but it's inactive and hasn't been held in a couple of years. It definitely sounds like the kind of thing you and Guy would be interested in. Wanna maybe set up a Malton Iditarod '08 with me? Could be fun. We can hammer out details later - it's just something to think about.--Nallan (Talk) 08:00, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

RE: 6 months in Urban Dead

Hmm yeah tough call. Why not release the "6 months later..." LP, and then in two weeks release the "200 days later..." special edition box set, complete with interactive galleries and a full biography of the band? OK I dunno if I was talking about a movie or what just then. Look I think we've waited so long, we can afford to wait a little longer and see what happens with "the dead". Hmm, "200 days later..." - I like that.--Nallan (Talk) 05:22, 31 March 2008 (BST)

Yeah well if you think about it, Monroeville would be perfect for a Manhunt right now seeing as you cant get revived. But yeah there's so many issues with that we won't go there.
Here's a few things I just came up with randomly then for policing a public hunt, none of them are pretty:
  • First thing's first, it should be in a corner of Malton so you make the area you have to police as small as possible.
  • Somehow use an area of effect item (like flares or feeding groans) and make all participants email or post screenshots of their character seeing said flare or feeding groan (this would be extremely complicated to figure out with time zones and timing etc.)
  • Have people email the event organiser(s) (who wouldn't be part of the competition) with the name of their safehouse location for the day (or however long they plan on staying there), and whichever organiser is available could use a series of alts to check the location named by each participant.
  • More as I think of them... Just stick an RE: under the ones you wanna discuss. I should probably study now...--Nallan (Talk) 05:46, 31 March 2008 (BST)

Promotion! DDR 01:25, 30 April 2008 (BST)
Oh! When you said vote, it threw me off, as the process isn't a vote. :). Anyway, you might want to make your sig a bit smaller. A font size of 4 (At most 5. Although thats still a bit big too...)seems good. As it stands right now, some people may get a bit annoyed at the largeness of it. And thanks for the vouch. If there's anymore you need help with, let me know.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 01:30, 30 April 2008 (BST)
Aww, It didn't look that big to me. Okay. Well, I didn't know it wasn't a vote, but okay! good luck for your promotion! DDR 01:36, 30 April 2008 (BST)

It is to big. The underscore actually obliterates text below it. Also, using a <big> ... </big> tag (or two, or three) would work better; using <font size=X> messes with various formating features. Inline style tags pretty much suck anyhow (they can cause conflicts with CSS, as here) and should be avoided is possible. SIM Core Map.png Swiers 04:08, 30 April 2008 (BST)

Yeah do all the stuff they said. It looks awesome though. Maybe make the 2nd D link to your talk and the R link to something else like your youtube vids or the manhunt page or something like that? Whatever, it looks great. I'm sooooo jealous.--Nallan (Talk) 04:38, 30 April 2008 (BST)
Thats a shame. On my computer it looks fine. I'll fix it. DDR 04:40, 30 April 2008 (BST)

emailed you. with that R I think there's a way to make it so that that ugly blue arrow thing for external links doesn't come up. I don't know how to do it though. I prefered it bigger haha.--Nallan (Talk) 04:51, 30 April 2008 (BST)

Same. I will reply in 30 seconds with what it looks like on my computer. It appears the world doesnt have the fonts I do. DDR 05:01, 30 April 2008 (BST)
I dunno if this works but you could make a redirect page that redirects to your youtube account....and have your R link to that page...--xoxo 05:17, 30 April 2008 (BST)
Nice. Sig and profile look really good.--Nallan (Talk) 06:48, 30 April 2008 (BST)

You're last link is screwed up, should be [http://www.youtube.com/user/KayRHCP <span style="color: Aqua">R</span>], the | gets included in the link if it's used in an external link, replace it with a space for proper formating.--Karekmaps?! 10:13, 30 April 2008 (BST)

That's the older one anyway. I used a new wiki portal page because its easier for myself who is bad at the simplest of HTML. DanceDanceRevolutionTalkUrban Dead Media 10:55, 30 April 2008 (BST)
The redirects from the image pages are also very clever! Much easier than the other way I've seen of making an image a link on the wiki. SIM Core Map.png Swiers 18:02, 30 April 2008 (BST)
Also against the Sig Policy you need a link, redirects don't work. Not to mention the images are on the big side.--Karekmaps?! 11:15, 1 May 2008 (BST)
But redirects do work. I suppose this is why Zombie Slay3r changed his (which is where I got the idea from). DanceDanceRevolutionTalkUrban Dead Media 11:18, 1 May 2008 (BST)
Maybe Karek can suggest a different way to code your sig without drastically changing the look of it?--Nallan (Talk) 11:43, 1 May 2008 (BST)
{{Click}} might work, it's mostly a matter of not being able to see where you are clicking/what user made the comment without clicking.--Karekmaps?! 11:45, 1 May 2008 (BST)
Yeah that's fair enough. Although one could have a fair bit of lol with their mystery links...--Nallan (Talk) 11:50, 1 May 2008 (BST)
Karek, unless I'm using it incorrectly, I can get the template right, but I think it's made to create a new paragraph after every image, or something of the like. I can't get all the 3 images on the one line. Am I using it wrong? DanceDanceRevolutionTalkUrban Dead Media 12:18, 1 May 2008 (BST)

200 days of urban dead

Interesting you just made that. I was workin on something similar for the images archived at Suburb/History that would cover the August 2007-present period. What period does "200 days" cover? Seems pointless to duplicate your efforts if you covered that period.
What animation method did you use? I was planning to do an animated gif (fairly small in dimensions, but easily scaled up for display) where each frame would be displayed for a number of seconds equal to the number of days the archive goes without providing a new image. That way the "run time" of the "video" would exactly match the actual pace of the game for that period, on a scale of 1:86,400 of course. I'm suspecting you did not use an animated gif... SIM Core Map.png Swiers 04:57, 30 April 2008 (BST)

Hey

I am also glad that the argument has ended. As for my activities on the wiki, I don't actually do much. I haven't been very active in-game because I reached level 41 and the thrill sort of died. And I don't use the wiki much because there isn't much to do. When I was a more active character, it made more sense for me to be active on the wiki, but now I just log in every once in a while to see what's going on.

The Saints

My apologies for not responding sooner, the best way to contact us is through Brainstock. My understanding of your issue is that one of us claimed you and you believe that you shouldn't have been? The Saints redeem many and very few to none are happy about it, some like Goolina are downright hostile.

Unfortunately without knowing who you play as in the game there is nothing much that I can suggest to you, we claim a lot of bounties and theres no way for me to tell which you were. If you would like to discuss the issue further please contact me at Brainstock.

The Saints

Thanks to Aiden for replying to this on my behalf as I did not see your comment on our talk page until just now.

Firstly I would like to make it clear that I don't hunt from my own bounty list, I hunt off the Rogues Gallery, which is kept very up to date and I can assure you that I made the claim on you when you had an active bounty.

It would appear there is a misunderstanding of the way the RG works. For PKing you were given a bounty of 2, therefore, the claim which you are referring to on our talk page reduced your active bounty to 1, it did not clear as I think you believed and so you still appeared on the RG for me to see (as can be seen from you're RG profile here http://ud-malton.info/rg/i/957783).

Furthermore, I did not know of the circumstances of the PK, though you say it was for killing a zerger, it is not commented on your RG profile and though I usually do avoid claiming bounties on those with comments I feel are legitimate, I think its a little much to expect me to go searching for the exact circumstances of each persons past kills.

I would also like to point out some of the disadvantages of being listed on the RG, namely that a claim by a bounty hunter will always be possible and in the long run inevitable, and that you can be tracked anywhere in game, with any who care to look being able to find your location quickly and accurately. Neither of these will be an issue for you anymore, and that if you look at it like that, I have done you a favour, though I'll admit few ever do see it that way.

If you ever appear on the RG again and believe it in error (for example for killing a zerger as you claim this time) there is an appeals process you can go through, and at the very least you can request a comment on your RG profile saying you killed a zerger, so bounty hunters may avoid claiming against you.

I would just like to end saying that I stand by my claim against you and that perhaps next time you would like to be a little clearer when you tell people the person you have just killed is a zerger, and provide proof.

Thanks

Lynch 20:58, 14 June 2008 (BST)

Hey don't put the blame on DDR - you went and acted on an unreliable source as an excuse for killing a pro-survivor, and a relatively well-known and established one at that. He hasn't done shit wrong and you're telling him it's his own fault that you killed him? Fucking ridiculous! This is why I don't trust the rogues gallery. It's full of shit. I've seen prominent pro-survivors put up there by notorious pkers who themselves have active bounties. My advice: don't rely on the RG, it's useless. Use your own list or a local list if you don't want to spend hours sifting through screenshots and profile links. And be more critically discerning of the sources you consult. Thanks.--Nallan (Talk) 08:37, 15 June 2008 (BST)
Nallan, I assure you that what you've just described (prominent pro-survivors being put onto the list for killing a listed PKer) is at present impossible unless somebody entered things in the wrong order. It just can't happen without somebody entering things wrong now. People have their own thoughts, I prefer the list over others for numerous reasons but mainly because it is the most thorough available. ~AidenFury
I have much to say to make my point, but unfortunately I don't have the time. All I will do to finish is say I value your reasoning heavily in justifying what you did, however, I don't think I should be held accountable for not lodging an appeal at a place I don't use, or even recognize as a useful resource. I also don't believe that you should patronize me by not only treating me as if I know nothing about the metagaming scene of Urban Dead, but also judging me solely through an 8 month old record on a notoriously unreliable database that, in places, is built on bureaucratic nonsense. After reading through this, I motion for the creation of a new gallery, one that lists whatever fools use the rogues gallery, so that I can hunt them down and kill them myself, therefore ridding the game of this nonsense.--CyberRead240 11:23, 15 June 2008 (BST)
Funnily enough, there is a fantastic Rogues Gallery that was created by Red Rum to deliberately parody 'bounty hunters' by making a database of them. Pretty good idea, but its mainly a joke because of the poor status bounty hunters hold in the UD community. DanceDanceRevolution 11:54, 15 June 2008 (BST)

My apologies for sounding patronising, it was not my intention but I felt I needed to explain why you're bounty had not been cleared after the first kill, and I did it in the best way I could.

All I can say is that I feel differently about the rogues gallery than you do and a debate on its usefulness will get us nowhere. I am not blaming you for my killing you, however I do think you should take at least some of the blame for appearing on the RG in the first place; since it was a third party who reported you I feel such a thing would not have happened if you had made it clear in your speech that Bullgod was a zerger and provided proof. I understand that you dont recognise the RG as a useful tool and so shouldnt have to concern yourself with having to provide proof, however it is undeniable that many do use it, and so killing someone without giving proper information will always risk someone reporting you for it, regardless of your opinion on it, ands theres nothing that you or I can do about it.

Death in this game is a minor inconvenience at most, I'll bet that you didn't spend more than a few hours dead, it is not such a big deal, and will not happen again (at least from a bounty hunter) now that you are off the rogues galley.
