This page is for the request of speedy page deletions within the Urban Dead wiki. Due to concerns about loss of data, the ability to delete pages is restricted to the system operators. As such, regular users will need to request a deletion from the sysops. For consistency and accountability, system operators also adhere to the guidelines listed here.

In a restricted set of circumstances, system operators may delete pages without full consultation of the wiki community. This is usually restricted to pages that do not seem to have any legitimate information or function within the wiki, or for pages that have been created by mistake and are requested to be deleted by the author. In these circumstances, a Speedy Deletion may take place, allowing system operators to quickly remove these pages from the wiki.

Guidelines for Speedy Deletion Requests

All Deletion Requests must contain the following information in order to be considered:

  • A link to the page in question. Preferably bolded for visibility.
  • A reason for deletion. This should be short and to the point.
  • A signed datestamp. This can be easily done by adding ~~~~ to the end of your request.

Further, you should place {{speedydelete}} at the top of the page you are nominating for speedy deletion.

Any deletion request that does not contain these three pieces of information will not be considered, and will be removed by a system operator.

Once the speedy deletion request has been entered, the request shall remain on this page, where it will be reviewed by a member of the moderation team, and action taken accordingly. Once action has been taken, the request will be moved into the Archive, and the system operator shall add a signed datestamp to the archived request.

A Speedy Deletion may be circumvented by a single vote of Keep under the request. If this occurs, the system operator shall move the Speedy Deletion request to the Deletion Request Queue, where the normal rules for Deletion of the page shall apply. Further, a user may choose to move a request from the Speedy Deletion queue to the Deletion Request Queue should they feel that the deletion may attract controversy within the wiki community, but do not wish to cast a Keep vote for the request. Should either of these circumstances occur, the deletion candidate should remain in the Deletion Request Queue until the alloted two weeks is up.

In the event of a sysop requesting Speedy Deletion, all the previous points will apply, excepting that a system operator other than the requester shall review and take action on the request.

Speedy Deletion Eligibility

To be eligible for a Speedy Deletion Request, the page must fall under at least one of the following criteria:

  1. No Content: The page contains no more than a line or two of content that cannot clearly be expanded, consists of random or incoherent content, or is duplicated elsewhere to no purpose.
  2. Off-Topic: The page is a clearly off-topic page.
  3. Unused Redirect: The page is an unused or underused (ie, only 1-2 pages using the link) redirect.
  4. Empty Category: The page is a Category page that has no entries within it.
  5. Missed Talk Page: The page is a Talk: Page from a previous deletion request that has not been deleted with the request (please note the relevant deletion request if this is so)
As of 19 May 2010, Crit 5 is now a scheduled deletion.
  6. Deletion Workaround: The page is a duplicate of a page that has been deleted from a previous deletion request (please note the relevant deletion request if this is so). A page that fits this criterion is immediately qualified for deletion without requiring it be nominated on the 'Speedy Deletions' page. Recreating a page that fits this criterion will get you a polite message to stop doing so. Any further infractions of this nature will qualify as vandalism and will be treated as such. Note that criterion 6 does not apply when the page has been restored through Undeletions.
  7. Author Edit Only: The page has been requested for speedy deletion by the original author, and has been edited only by its author. Note that edits by adbots or vandals and reverts caused by them do not count.
  8. User Page: The page is a User subpage that has been requested for speedy deletion by the original author.
  9. Personal Page (Prefix Rule): The page is named after a user without the "User:" or "Journal:" prefixes and its content has been moved to the appropriate User or Journal page. Includes pages that should be User subpages, ie. in-game characters.
As of 2011, August 29, Crit 9 is now a scheduled deletion.
  10. Unused Template: The page is a template that has existed for at least one week and is currently unused within the wiki.
  11. Non-existent User Page: The page is a User: page for a user that doesn't exist, and any content on the page has been moved to the appropriate User: or Journal: page.
As of 20 June 2009, Crit 11 is now a scheduled deletion.
  12. Defunct group page: The page is a non-historical group page, it is over two months old, it has not had an update in a month, and is not on the stats page. Such pages will remain in the queue for 5 days to determine their defunct status has been correctly identified. Due to the large number of pages that fit into this criterion, please {{speedydelete12}} on the pages to ensure that they are categorized differently from normal speedy deletion requests.
As of 2007, September 16, this is no longer a valid criterion.
  13. Missed sub-page: The page is a sub-page from a previous deletion request that has not been deleted with the request, and that serves no individual purpose (please note the relevant deletion request).

A page may also fall under a scheduled deletion and should be posted here if it is missed by the sysops.

User talk page deletion request

http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/User_talk:Janos_Kire, this is a talk page left over from a User deletion. I am the user, and no longer have need of this page. Thanks in advance, and my apologies if this isn't exactly correct. It's been quite awhile since I've been on here. --Janos Kire (talk) 00:29, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

More spam

Clearly I have been missing all the fun stuff. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 22:30, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
There is no need to list them here. Just report the accounts to Bot Banning. -- Spiderzed 22:32, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

Gotten all of these & left a message on your talk, PyroSadist. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 04:01, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

Return of the Sons of Spam

Sadly, it's begun again and there is a MASSIVE amount of bots and pages coming in over the span of the last 15 minutes. Again, please track my edits for the pages because there are too many to put here. I am sorry I can't continue but it's 1:30am here so I have to go. Apologies. A ZOMBIE ANT 14:29, 3 February 2016 (UTC)

Well, I lied. I stayed for a bit longer hoping they'd give it up but no luck. Must be about 200 of them. Oh well. They'll all be gone soon enough. A ZOMBIE ANT 14:52, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
I'll get a brief start, but I'm at work, and I can't spare a lot of time to deal with this right now. I'll see if I can quickly find an IP range to block. Aichon 15:19, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
Ok, I think I've managed to block all of them so far and have cleaned up everything up to this point, but they're still coming, and their IP addresses are rather random. Thankfully, they're rather slow, so it's easy to not only keep up, but also pull ahead. Aichon 16:32, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
I need to get some more work done, so I'll be checking in only occasionally from here on. Everything as of this timestamp is account+IP blocked, pages are deleted, and a few IP range blocks were also applied. The new accounts are still pouring in from new IPs, but at least you only need to go back so far if you're picking up from here. Aichon 17:25, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks to Bob for stepping in to cover. So far there have been 367 deleted pages, somewhere over 100 banned IP addresses/ranges, and 109 accounts manually banned (plus 95 more accounts that were autoblocked because we had already blocked their IP address). Going by the IP Block list (page only accessible to sysops) and Recent Changes, however, it's clear that they're still at it. This is a persistent bunch, it would seem. Spam

Check my contribs too please. They are coming way too fast for me to label them here but Pyro and I are removing the content as best we can. A ZOMBIE ANT 06:11, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

I've gotten all the pages, and I think all the bots. If more come in I'll check in in a few hours. Thank you so much to both of you for your help. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 14:24, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
Thanks Bob, and good work yourself. To pay back our spam friend I signed his number up to his local Scientology and Mormon call lists. Next up, naughty Craigslist ads. A ZOMBIE ANT 14:45, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
I found their surreal youtube channel too. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 14:57, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
Gee, so I turn my back to the wiki for one day, and all of a sudden there are OVER 9,000 Spambots. This is madness. -- Spiderzed 23:01, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
Yeah... It got a bit ridiculous. A ZOMBIE ANT 02:35, 25 January 2016 (UTC)
Technically, more bans were implemented yesterday than in all of 2014 & 2015 combined. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 11:11, 25 January 2016 (UTC)
Wow.... You know, that actually depresses me. It was all over 6 hours or so. Rough. A ZOMBIE ANT 11:39, 25 January 2016 (UTC)
