Pending his approval (which he better give Grr! Argh! *shaking fist*), I'd like to submit DDR for re-promotion. He's pretty much sysop-ing as much as he can already anyway, and I feel he would learn quickly and adapt to the change well. Or he'd already know everything cause he's got a lot of experience and should really come back. Take your pick, I guess. Anyway, This is both a nomination and a vouch, since I feel the sysop team could always do with extra hands, and DDR tends to make those hands into little tiny Aussie fists which is good. I'd liek to put my two cents in as well. DDR has been proven to be absolutely untrustworthy and decieving by stating that he would retire and even leave this wiki! Instead he continues to help out the other sysops, and continues to be a contributive member to this wiki! On a more serious note, it seems to me that DDR never had to demote himself as he still edits here almost daily. It's all good though, as DDR is pretty forward when it comes to sysopship, where Yonnua, Aichon and Ross are rather passive (not that it's bad or something). Downsides? You're not as patient as the guys mentioned above and you can be quite harsh against people you disagree with which has lead to conflict more then once (speaking from experience). I think your also pretty stubborn in your viewpoints. I remember instances where discussion, with for example SA, went on for long. Long story short, you're capable and personality wise an unique asset to the team but you can get "lost" in your directive and forward approach to things. --Umbrella-White.pngThadeous OakleyUmbrella-White.png 20:24, 31 May 2010 (BST)

This is all in my humble opinion though. --Umbrella-White.pngThadeous OakleyUmbrella-White.png 20:25, 31 May 2010 (BST)

Alright. I'll be brief since I have a date with an angry and assignment-expecting university so I'm going to whip through this rather than do it 24 hours later.

I'm going to accept this nomination, not because I specifically want it as much as I see that I think it's for the best given my current status in the wiki. I'll reiterate that in a way that doesn't make me sound like an overzealous preacher; As it stands, I'm behaving like I were an op and I'm arguing and aiding ops and users as if I have a certain authority anyway and I obviously think, in retrospect, demoting was a bad idea because I certainly didn't change my pattern of activity nearly as much as I thought it would. A return to being an op would also annoy less people because, rather than bleat endlessly to the ops to, say, vote the way I think they should, I may be able to, for example, vote in a case and base my argument from there rather than run around like a headless chicken spouting globules of angry bloody text and precedents. I think behaving the way I have been in the past few months have been in a way disprespectful to the ops and the community and I'd like for that to change by actually taking up the authority, image, and accountability of an op rather than just behave like one in spirit. I think this is the more responsible thing to do.

A quick promise on my activity. Looking through my activity demonstrates a change than with my past time as an op; I've done less gnoming maintenance work and been engaged more in drama. This is simply because no authority or responsibility is holding me to the latter and if I became an op I would most certainly exhibit a more committed approach to balancing out my edits between drama and maintenance. I know promises don't fly too well on udwiki, most of all A/PM but I haven't had any activity problems in the past year and a half so I think it's fair to say I'm as good as my word.

So, I happily accept, and I'll be back to answer questions and address issues in 24 hours, perhaps sooner. --

  • Vouch - I stated my opinion above. He's not perfect, but he's a good force on this wiki. Oh yeah, how old are you? Early twenties amiright? --Umbrella-White.pngThadeous OakleyUmbrella-White.png 20:27, 31 May 2010 (BST)

  • Vouch - Cause DDR is awsome at this stuff.--Michalesonbadge.pngTCAPD(╯°□°)╯ ┻━┻ 20:36, 31 May 2010 (BST)
  • Vouch - He has itched too many times recently to hit admin buttons, aaand, he has definitively proven that he knows what he does when it comes down to them. -- Spiderzed 20:46, 31 May 2010 (BST)
  • Abstain - He didn't come to my party. Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 20:54, 31 May 2010 (BST)
  • Strong Vouch - As a new sysop, DDR has acted like a mentor and advisor to me already, and he should definitely have his buttony-powers restored. He may be forward, but we need forward people on the wiki to be good leaders. I have absolutely no doubts that DDR is capable of leading in such a way.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! • Against We've had our disagreements but this isn't about those. Put simply, I think DDR does better work when he is not a Sysop. --Honestmistake 09:49, 1 June 2010 (BST)
  • Against - DDR just quit like ten minutes ago. If he was genuinely tired of being a 'sop then, and I trusted his judgment in stepping down, then I have to question his judgment now. Status isn't a reason. Stamping your opinions with the "official seal" isn't a reason. • Question You know that if you wanted to leave we could of banned you for a while? Break the cycle? Why do we need you back? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 22:58, 2 June 2010 (BST)
I've served self bans before, I know the process, the major difference is that I demoted not because I wanted to leave the wiki, it was so I could take a step back and start seeing the wiki as a hobby and less like a job. This way I could do say 60% of my old work rate and be a fraction stressed as doing 100% would make me. As a sysop I refused myself the luxury of escaping the latter because I didn't know how it would affect the way I treated the place. Now I know that happily taking the step back when it's needed doesn't hurt, I feel I can trust myself to do so as an op.
Why do you need me back? I'm not sure you do, and as a group the op team is the most proactive I've seen since I've been here, but the way it stands at the moment I feel like I could still do the job and that adding myself to the team would help out everyone. Plus, it'd stop me going on my "you sysops aren't doing your job here is this and this precedent you are all dumheads" speeches, which I think is best for everyone, it won't take too long before everyone gets sick of them, if not already. -- 05:10, 3 June 2010 (BST)
