20070807 I Can See You Looter!

Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:10, 7 August 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Game Mechanic

Suggestion scope
Mainly survivors

Suggestion description
You can loot art pieces from museums, right? Lifting many of the artworks out of the museums would be pretty difficult without anyone seeing you. It would be fairly noticeable seeing someone taking out a medieval tapestry or stone statue. I suggest that when someone loots from a museum, the other occupants should be notified. ie,

DuxDucis looted a Cubist sculpture from one of the galleries (8 seconds ago)

People can use this information however they like, and I don't believe occupants will get spammed as not many people loot from the same museum frequently.

Keep Votes

  1. Author Keep - Because it's mine and I like it. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:10, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep - Like I said in discussion, it's better than someone seeing me spray over their "revive point" tags.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 06:12, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep I like this flavor. really harmless, since only a few people stay inside museums. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 06:19, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep I like it. Though it'll give the Philosophe Knights some ammunition for their killings, but hey, it's fun in spite (or perhaps because) of this. the one, the only, sushiknight (talk contribs HARD E.N.D.) 06:26, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep Who knows, maybe it will inspire some weird group to take up residence in the museums to prevent looting. That would certainly provide some delicious chickeny flavor.--Steakfish 06:36, 7 August 2007 (BST)
Re: Philosophe Knights, The Surrealists and I'm sure there are others. Their policies inspired this suggestion really. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:39, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  6. Keep - Somewhat pointless but I don't see any harm in it. --Midianian 09:42, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  7. Keep - Sure, why not. There are other notifications that need to come first, and would be much more useful, but this is harmless enough.--Sara M 10:01, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  8. Keep - I like the idea. It's kinda funny though. I might start looting too :) --Savant 11:18, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  9. Keep Yup.--Seventythree 11:26, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  10. keep - It doesnt seem to hurt anything. -Doc Crook 14:56, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  11. Keep It's harmless, ignorable flavor that some groups could use for RP. Remember, your not voting on this getting in the game, your voting on if it's worth Kevan's time. This is worth his consideration.--Wooty 17:13, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  12. Keep I like it. --Dipcup 18:33, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  13. Keep - Hey guess what? I can see you DuxDucis! Completely pointless though, I do like logging back in to see a little action. Nobody 'effing talks. Darn mutes. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 04:36, 8 August 2007 (BST)
  14. Keep - Interesting suggestion, I quite like it! Not particularly useful (except for the groups you've mentioned) but it would add a bit more depth, if only a tad. And it's sensible, at least. I mean, people are going to notice if you steal things from museums if you're just an average Joe and not some master art thief who can dodge laserbeams and meld into the shadows, right... ? --♥HanaTZSW!C 12:32, 8 August 2007 (BST)
  15. Keep - Nice one Dux. I think it might add a nice touch to the game. --Evildemon989 Talk · Help · W! · P! · SU! · TJ! · Hai! 23:15, 8 August 2007 (BST)
  16. Keep - It creates spam only for the people who live in useums, hey it's your choice where you sleep (well xcept for newbs) and more flavor and I guess there might be more interaction because of art thieves... --Packer 11:20am 9 aug 2007 (BST)
  17. Keep I like it. --Secruss 21:31, 9 August 2007 (BST)
  18. Keep Great idea. All sorts of possibilities for minigames. Capture the Flag, for instance. Pavluk 21:48, 9 August 2007 (BST)
  19. Keep --The Supreme Court RR 12:52, 11 August 2007 (BST)
  20. Keep It seems like a harmess suggestion to me, and if anyone wanted to protect museums, it'd definetly help. ==User:Doctor R 8:13, August 11 2007 (EST)
  21. Ok -- Whatever, its nice flavor, but rather pointless. PS if you voted kill/spam on account of spam, youre a loser.BoboTalkClown 21:04, 19 August 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - I'd prefer to only be told potentially useful information. --  T   10:52, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - I've no idea why anyone would be interested in knowing this info. We don't know who searches and finds syringes every day... and they're much more important than some cubist sculpture bullshite that someone is going to install somewhere for dubious flavour reasons The preceding signed comment was added by boxy (talkcontribs) at 11:08 7 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - i don't think it has a real use.I was close to writing spam but it's not bad spam like radio spam but it has no purpose.Chill 17:10, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - We don't need to see this. If each museum had a finite supply of lootable objects, perhaps it would be useful. --Saluton 17:42, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - Basically, this is pointless fluff amirite? --Ryiis 17:53, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - I cannot think of one reason I would want to know this. --Druuuuu 19:42, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill/Change - The only use I could possibly think this to have would be for the Philosophe Knights who don't take very kindly to people taking stuff out of museums. However, even then, it's pretty pointless. I don't need to be spammed with info like that every time I log on after sleeping in a museum. However, if it could be turned off, I don't see the harm, although it'd be a waste of Kevan's time. --Howard Bentley 01:40, 8 August 2007 (BST)
Re: As I have pointed out to Axe Hack, I'm sure you would have the option of ignoring Museum messages just like any other type in your settings. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 01:42, 8 August 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill - This only serves to increase the amount of PKing in Malton. People don't want BK lists, they don't need Looting lists, especially when looting is a completely harmless in game activity. 'arm. 02:51, 8 August 2007 (BST)
Re: As I've said before, people can use this info however they like. I seriously doubt that many groups would create 'looting' lists, and I doubt the amount of PKing would increase. People are going to kill regardless, this does not encourage it. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 04:45, 8 August 2007 (BST)
You said as much in your reply to Steakfish! Here something from just those two groups: Philosophe Knights: "Class A Individual Crimes: Disrespect for Knowledge."; Surrealists: "Any looters will be hunted down and/or executed on sight." More arbitrary 'crimes'. Not a significant increase, I admin. But my reason for voting kill, as it's a zombie vs survivor zompocalypse. Information like that can ONLY be useful to a PKer, who else would want it? 'arm. 07:18, 8 August 2007 (BST)
  9. Kill Will create spam and really serves no significant purpose, even as flavour. As others have commented, there are other notices that deserve priority, making this quite frivolous. Sorry... --WanYao 22:46, 8 August 2007 (BST)
  10. Kill - This would create a ton of spam. --Heavy DDR 01:56, 9 August 2007 (BST)
  11. Kill -As mentioned above, this suggestion was made solely with the interest of certain PK groups in mind. This does not serve to improve the game as a whole, for zombies or survivors.--Dr Doom86 07:21, 14 August 2007 (BST)
  12. Kill - Although I like the flavor, it's just another arbitrary reason for PKers to act like they own the place. - MolotovH 19:53, 18 August 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. It will create spam. There's no telling how popular that museum is. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 06:16, 7 August 2007 (BST)
Re: Worse than radio spam? I suppose people could also ignore this, just as they can ignore other types of messages in their settings. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:19, 7 August 2007 (BST)
Well...we really have no clue how many people loot from the museums every day. Could be 10. Could be a few hundred. Could even be thousands. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 06:22, 7 August 2007 (BST)
Re: Then your assumption that it would create spam is also flawed. We just don't know how many people loot. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:32, 7 August 2007 (BST)
