- Yeah, I've been a bit of a bastard lately. On an issue related to my stressed out demeanor, I guess I might explain where I've been; I've been kicked out of home so I don't know when it will be than I can consistently edit again. For clarification, lately I have had minimal internet access but have chosen not to come back extensively because the occasional stress of UDWiki isn't what I need in my situation, but even despite these events I still plan on attending all Crat duties as they roll in, eg. SA's bid. As for a sig, just do something annoying and blue, should suffice. Unless you're passed plugging that ALiM garbage, but should I even hope? ;D -- 13:34, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Advice
I'm thinking of making a very public show of the fact I believe a group is systematically zerging on a large scale. I plan to list all the allegations on a page in my usespace. Now thats in no way vandalism is it? Im assuming as its my own page I can protect it myself as well? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 11:21, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- Having an opinion isn't vandalism, and there's no control that the admins can exercise over a user's comments (barring stuff that goes against the TOU.) And sysop sub-pages aren't a scheduled protection, but I don't think anyone would care if you protected it. Linkthewindow Talk 11:24, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- All of those things are fine by this wiki's guidelines, userpages can have any POV material and you won't be misconducted for protecting it yourself. -- 12:40, 14 January 2010 (UTC) -- 12:02, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
What the fuck is this tou and where did it come from? Its too long to bother reading but it seems to me to be some sort of sysop conspiracy. I've never been vandalismised for breaking it before...what the fuck is happening! !xoxo 08:51, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
- The TOU page has been around for at leased a year i'm pretty sure, made as a project by SA to sort of add a codified list of things that could/couldn't be done on the wiki lest it jeopardise Kevan's ownership of the site and to make sure nothing we do takes it down. Conndraka used to be pretty big on it. --
- I'll add by saying that most of the stuff against the TOU was considered vandalism/misconduct before it was even created into a page, so you never really had much of an excuse anyway ;D --

hey on the topic of de-escalations
just had an idea which might stop people like jed abusing the system forever while appeasing the people who think de-escalations have value: only allowing people a limited number of de-escalations (thinking between 3-5). y/n? Cyberbob Talk 06:36, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- That's a good idea. I have a few ideas relating to that now so I'll give it some thought and add some more ideas later tonight. -- 06:39, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- Personally, I'd just lengthen the time that they have to wait between de-escalations. Instead of 1 months (plus a certain number of edits), I'd bump it up to 6 months. Career vandals wouldn't be able to exist if they only got two de-escalations a year, but for people genuinely trying to reform, it'd give them a way to work it off over time. If you only allow a fixed number of de-escalations, eventually you'll start losing contributing members who get a warning every now and then (e.g. based on A/VD, we'd be close to or would have already lost both you and SA had the fixed-number system been in place from the start). —Aichon— 07:12, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- What makes you think that SA and I would have allowed ourselves to rack up so many escalations in the first place if we were only allowed a limited number of de-escalations? As for the people "genuinely trying to reform", that was the whole point of having warnings come before bans in the first place. I don't have much sympathy for people that would need more than 3-5 de-escalations (not to mention all the various degrees of bannage before the perma) to "genuinely reform". Cyberbob Talk 08:43, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

- Ok, well, clearly the point I was trying to make did not get communicated. Whatever.
SA is dumb, and that point isn't important (if you really want to argue it, hit me up on IRC). In any case, if users could average, at most, one escalation every six months without getting banned, that means that unless they stuck around for a few years, it'd actually be more strict than using a fixed number, while also being more forgiving in the long-term. To me, that seems like a win-win, since it keeps reform while eliminating the possibility of career vandals. —Aichon— 12:52, 18 January 2010 (UTC)- Or they could get the fucking message after however many chances we give them. You know, either-or. Cyberbob Talk 13:13, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- Indeed, they could, but then we'd call it a win-lose instead. I just don't see the need to throw the baby out with the bath water here. I mean, if your solution was the only way, I would definitely support it since it's an improvement over what we have. But from what I can see, there are other ways to curb vandalism, and not all of them sacrifice reform in the process. —Aichon— 13:29, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- Who here actually needs more than 3 de-escalations? Misconduct ones don't count as an escalation for this purpose.-- ¯\(°_o)/¯ 13:32, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- Sometimes I miss the simple things when I get caught up in the concept. I think SA just pointed out a simple thing that changes my mind. He's right. There really aren't people that would need that many, and reform should've taken place well before that if it was going to happen at all. As silly as it sounds after all that, I'm convinced. —Aichon— 12:08, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

- This is 2010 buddy, the "go against the sysops for the sake of it" culture went out in 2008 with Wan and Grim and the goons. --
- You don't think a policy such a this overpowers sysops by making vandalism that much worse? The current system works because if you are targeted by sysops or whatever a warning isn't really an issue coz you can work it off. Have you noticed how shoddy most vandalism decisions are? If something like this was brought in you'd want to make damn sure every ruling of vandalism was 100% deserved and maybe actually start bringing about some serious punishment for sysops who have no idea what they're doing and flippyflop around making rulings based on whos dick they're sucking at the time. Just a thought. xoxo 09:44, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- u mad? Cyberbob Talk 10:20, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- Oh my, having a talking to about bias in the sysop position by J3D really boggles my mind. Take Aichon's A/VD example and tell me how many users will have been disadvantaged by this, who didn't deserve it in the first place. --
- And it is an idiotic stance to back up anyway, sysops are put in the position under the assumption they can handle such buttons in a responsible way. Whether or not such users should have gained the position in the past is a totally different matter- but what you have is a case of a pretty unmerited persecution complex, which just tries to turn the aim of the policy away from stopping career vandals onto the topic of how the already working A/VB system can be misused by an overzealous sysop. It's a different issue entirely and, if it were even true, will have been a problem for years, not something to just bring up in this instance. -- 15:29, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Quick Question...
Could I get this page reverted back to its earliest form? I could probably do it myself, but seeing that you've put it up for A/SD, I thought I'd ask first... it could be expanded on, in it's original form anyway. -Poodle of DoomM! T 00:48, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's fine. I just stuck the A/SD tag up on it to categorise it, but I wasn't going to actually put it forward for a few days since he only wiped it half an hour ago. I fixed up his errors and reverted it for you. --
- I'm sorry, I didn't realize that was what was happening.... you want a category for it? I'd be willing to adopt it to our groups category for a while... I just thought it was nice the way it was in the begining. -Poodle of DoomM! T 01:00, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, nevermind, I was just trying to kill two birds with one stone because in either state (wiped or reverted) it was likely to be deleted within the month. Either way, the template wasn't necessary and I'm happy to keep it up if people are willing to expand on it a bit. -- 01:02, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

I don't mind you not being here, I mind it more when you come here after 6 days and stir the few users editing seriously. And I don't know whether you think I did, but I guess I'll say it now; that I didn't cycle the PD just to get the last word in, you know I've been itching to do it for days and SA came on MSN and confirmed so I just went ahead. --
- P sure I did make a few edits to A/VB in the last few days, and 6 days is seriously nothing - how you can go on about it like it's some massive hiatus is beyond me. (no i didn't think you cycled it to get the last word) Cyberbob Talk 04:34, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

- I would appreciate it if you read what I said in future, again, you haven't addressed the only concern I ever actually expressed- it isn't that you didn't edit in 6 days, it is that you came back and trolled and fuelled a bitchfight rather than actually help around. If you have nothing to actually respond in relation to that, I don't actually care what you have to say. In fact, since the admin queues have been eliminated, I don't actually care about what you say regardless. If you don't give a fuck about the 6 day thing, then don't come crying to me so much. -- 07:55, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

- If you don't like the rule, why not change it? :P —Aichon— 01:54, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- Old(ish) convo is old(ish), but how well-received would a policy be stating that user talk pages can be governed by additional rules set by the owning user, which are treated with the same weight as any other rules, provided they don't contravene pre-existing rules? It sounds reasonable to me but I'm not gonna write a proposal up for something I'm not gonna use unless others actually want it. 14:19, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm. Talk pages are just for communication and anything beyond what the wiki offers as a template for talk page communication (I'm talking about the "+") is a luxury in my opinion. It depends exactly what you want out of the policy, Mis, if it's regarding blatant annoying behaviour like Imthatguy above then it could have a chance but my immediate fear would be making a policy that is abusable by troublemakers. -- 14:32, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Orphans
Yeah, but since then, he's updated the page loads. I don't really see a point in deleting the newbies which have only existed for sometimes a minute when I post the orphan template. :P If it's anythign older, I'm more likely to have a look, but we don't really get older ones anymore.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! FA Nominations
The new FA Nominations are supposed to be cycled after 7 days, and there are two that have been up for over two weeks each. It could use some tending too,... but I felt uncomfortable doing so myself since one of them is something I nominated, and I'm not a moderator,... could I have you look into it when ever you get an oppertunity? -Poodle of DoomM! Eyewitness
Hi DanceDanceRevolution,
I saw you were in the Krinks Power Station for a few days, before it fell earlier today. I was wondering what your impression was of what was going on in and outside the plant. My summary would be that it was a whole jelling about pretty much nothing. Both sides in the conflict are pretty small. I however do think it is sad the PhiloKnights felt the need to clear out the place.
--zyckde 18:44, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm. I left seemingly moments before an apparent PK wipe-out and visited soon after, unfortunately. However in the days I spent there, it didn't seem like a particularly stressful conflict. I only saw one PKing by the PK while I was there. Althought it seems like I missed an important event there, too :( I don't blame the Philosophe Knights for doing what they did, because of a dry spell plenty of players in UD has been itching to join a 'battle' or a 'war' for at leased two years now, it's just a shame they more or less ruined the main point of the battle. -- 20:55, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Deletions
I'm sure there's not, but is there any way to recover deleted wiki pages? I ask because the Team Survivor pages which were recently deleted are cited in a zerg case and I rather suspect that that was why they wanted them deleted. --Papa Moloch 21:31, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
- We can "undelete" pages, although undeleting pages that are requested by the author is probably more trouble than it's worth, although I could just copy the contents into a user subpage and note that it's just an unaltered copy of Team Survivor for reference purposes if that's fine? By the way, the page hasn't been deleted yet if you need to salvage the data. --
- Looks like it's been done already. Good luck with the case, etc. --
- I already suggested he copy the data in case the pages are re-deleted, which the probably will be. Though remember, there was never a deletion request, just a vague sort of crit 7 scenario. 22:17, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
- I still think the data will need to be copied over to another secure place sooner rather than later (I'll be happy to do it if you like) as it will most likely be deleted again. -- 22:23, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Drunk
So how do you think the next months going to play out, crat's wise? Boxys up for vote first, yes? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 13:22, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, I am up for first vote, but Boxy has expressed (rather admirably) that he wants out too since he's been inactive. Although, as a big (and not secret) gay-for-boxy fan, I dislike he's going back down the ladder but it's the right thing to do so it makes me love him even more. Honestly? Probably Misanthropy and Aichon (as a surprise oooooh controversy tip) or you (if you go for it) tip too. But then again, if it ain't you three I'm tipping, who else is there in the comp? Krazy Monkey, SA, Karek and Nubis already proved that the "obligatory A/PM just before the A/BP election" works like a charm for sentimental popularity/respect which is why I'd shove Aichon on a high pedestal in the A/BP race, although that's assuming two spots are up. One spot for A/BP's election would leave me voting for Misanthropy, because he's been around here the most in the last month or so and that's always something I respect.
- To be honest, a week ago I wanted to elect Yonnua for Op, so I'd have the pleasure of cycling his bid (assuming it went jolly) and then we'd have another good user in the race for op. That'd make things more fun for everyone, of course. --
- You're talking to the man who regularly voted for swiers for no real reason. My money's on Iscariot. But fresh blood, man. No doubt Giles will bid in a month or so, even the scary prospect of Poodle is on the horizon. I could always email Grim? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 13:40, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
- I know this sounds like a egotistical/douchbaggy thing to say, but the day Boxy and I step down from Crat, Iscariot will have his best chance at asyaop yet, he knows it too. Not that that's bad, of course. If he gets in op then he can, I'll most likely always be against it but i'm more than happy to voice myself as a regular user in relation to him when the time comes. Giles? Perhaps, as a guy who has too many issues with him in personal opinion (I generally disagree with almost everything he's done since his meatpuppeting saga about Civility) I wouldn't support him but that doens't mean he couldn't get the job, though I think there's beter out there. Poodle's a no=no for me. He's a simple guy which is good, but he makes simple mistakes whichs hows he isn't in the wiki for the buttons/responsibility yet. A heap of his work on the wiki is for his group which is good, but it means he isn't in the wiki for the buttons/responsibility yet. Atm, I'm loving Aichon and Yonnua, Haliman always did alright stuff when he went on his short "become sysop!" streaks but they are infrequent and almost invisible. By the way, is ZPWiki back up at all? Every time I uploaded a new batch of images I fear I crashed it again... -- 13:47, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, and I tried emailing grim to troll him about me getting crat (just to give him a brick wall to bash his head against about concernign the difrection of this wikis userbase) but he doesn't have a proper email address set up to it anymore, to avoid that exact thing, methinks =[ --

- If you ask me, if there's only one spot available, Ross has the 'crat position, hands down. SA is the only other 'op who would naturally pull in a lot of people, but he's been in-and-out and inactive enough recently that I doubt he'd get the support he has in the past. As you mentioned, I guess you could say I'm kinda the "darling" of the moment, and I suspect Iscariot nominated me with this exact timing for just that reason, so I might have a better shot right now than I normally would. That said, as with the sysop position, I'm not really looking for the 'crat position, so I'll be throwing my vote behind someone else, which will surely split some of the votes that would have otherwise gone to me. Plus, I'm new at this, and all it'll take is one newbie sysop mistake between now and the next BP for my image to be tarnished, which is not a problem in the long-run, but hurts my odds at a promotion in the short-term. Misanthropy is popular, and he's active and doing good work, so I could see him making it a good competition with Ross, and if there were two spots open, the second one certainly would be his, I think. —Aichon— 19:27, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

So much talk about me. Let's clear some things up, many moons ago I stated that I would only accept nominations from three users and I'm sticking to that. Goo luck getting any of them to nominate me :P Aichon was nominated to boost the numbers of active sysops and to prevent an unsuitable candidate getting the nod just because it may be perceived that we were low on ops, we're stuck with RedHawkOne due to a situation like that. Next crat? That's easy, it'll be Ross. After that if Boxy steps down in the next month or so I can almost guarantee Mis getting the second slot, longer than a month and it breaks into a three horse race depending on activity levels. Would you all like my wisdom on anything else? -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 19:37, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

ZOMG RULE ABOOSE?
Is this against one of the rules of the wiki? I think so, considering they're changing text from a Peer Reviewed suggestion, but I am not sure, and nothing on the page itself says anything about editing existing ideas. -- Rahrah wants you all to speak to him. 21:51, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Location Categorization
While demerging locations, I really can't help but notice that the location categories are a real mess (good luck trying to find what you're looking for here, for example). I'm thinking of possibly sub-categorizing these into suburb/district location pages, but at the same time worry it might defeat the point of demerging. Feedback?--~ Red Hawk One Talk | space for lease 02:18, 29 March 2010 (BST)
- Demerging creates individual pages, subcategories leave those pages intact but with easier divisions to follow. It's not defeating the point so much as following on pretty logically. It's a good idea, I think. 02:23, 29 March 2010 (BST)
- Yeah, I figured that it would be nice to have an individual page for each location, but at the same time have an easily cataloged way of finding it. Now the problem is creating and sorting 2400 or so new specific categories...
