This page is for the request of speedy page deletions within the Urban Dead wiki. Due to concerns about loss of data, the ability to delete pages is restricted to the system operators. As such, regular users will need to request a deletion from the sysops. For consistency and accountability, system operators also adhere to the guidelines listed here.

In a restricted set of circumstances, system operators may delete pages without full consultation of the wiki community. This is usually restricted to pages that do not seem to have any legitimate information or function within the wiki, or for pages that have been created by mistake and are requested to be deleted by the author. In these circumstances, a Speedy Deletion may take place, allowing system operators to quickly remove these pages from the wiki.

Guidelines for Speedy Deletion Requests

All Deletion Requests must contain the following information in order to be considered:

  • A link to the page in question. Preferably bolded for visibility.
  • A reason for deletion. This should be short and to the point.
  • A signed datestamp. This can be easily done by adding ~~~~ to the end of your request.

Further, you should place {{speedydelete}} at the top of the page you are nominating for speedy deletion.

Any deletion request that does not contain these three pieces of information will not be considered, and will be removed by a system operator.

Once the speedy deletion request has been entered, the request shall remain on this page, where it will be reviewed by a member of the moderation team, and action taken accordingly. Once action has been taken, the request will be moved into the Archive, and the system operator shall add a signed datestamp to the archived request.

A Speedy Deletion may be circumvented by a single vote of Keep under the request. If this occurs, the system operator shall move the Speedy Deletion request to the Deletion Request Queue, where the normal rules for Deletion of the page shall apply. Further, a user may choose to move a request from the Speedy Deletion queue to the Deletion Request Queue should they feel that the deletion may attract controversy within the wiki community, but do not wish to cast a Keep vote for the request. Should either of these circumstances occur, the deletion candidate should remain in the Deletion Request Queue until the alloted two weeks is up.

In the event of a sysop requesting Speedy Deletion, all the previous points will apply, excepting that a system operator other than the requester shall review and take action on the request.

Speedy Deletion Eligibility

To be eligible for a Speedy Deletion Request, the page must fall under at least one of the following criteria:

  1. No Content: The page contains no more than a line or two of content that cannot clearly be expanded, consists of random or incoherent content, or is duplicated elsewhere to no purpose.
  2. Off-Topic: The page is a clearly off-topic page.
  3. Unused Redirect: The page is an unused or underused (ie, only 1-2 pages using the link) redirect.
  4. Empty Category: The page is a Category page that has no entries within it.
  5. Missed Talk Page: The page is a Talk: Page from a previous deletion request that has not been deleted with the request (please note the relevant deletion request if this is so)
As of 19 May 2010, Crit 5 is now a scheduled deletion.
  6. Deletion Workaround: The page is a duplicate of a page that has been deleted from a previous deletion request (please note the relevant deletion request if this is so). A page that fits this criterion is immediately qualified for deletion without requiring it be nominated on the 'Speedy Deletions' page. Recreating a page that fits this criterion will get you a polite message to stop doing so. Any further infractions of this nature will qualify as vandalism and will be treated as such. Note that criterion 6 does not apply when the page has been restored through Undeletions.
  7. Author Edit Only: The page has been requested for speedy deletion by the original author, and has been edited only by its author. Note that edits by adbots or vandals and reverts caused by them do not count.
  8. User Page: The page is a User subpage that has been requested for speedy deletion by the original author.
  9. Personal Page (Prefix Rule): The page is named after a user without the "User:" or "Journal:" prefixes and its content has been moved to the appropriate User or Journal page. Includes pages that should be User subpages, ie. in-game characters.
As of 2011, August 29, Crit 9 is now a scheduled deletion.
  10. Unused Template: The page is a template that has existed for at least one week and is currently unused within the wiki.
  11. Non-existent User Page: The page is a User: page for a user that doesn't exist, and any content on the page has been moved to the appropriate User: or Journal: page.
As of 20 June 2009, Crit 11 is now a scheduled deletion.
  12. Defunct group page: The page is a non-historical group page, it is over two months old, it has not had an update in a month, and is not on the stats page. Such pages will remain in the queue for 5 days to determine their defunct status has been correctly identified. Due to the large number of pages that fit into this criterion, please {{speedydelete12}} on the pages to ensure that they are categorized differently from normal speedy deletion requests.
As of 2007, September 16, this is no longer a valid criterion.
  13. Missed sub-page: The page is a sub-page from a previous deletion request that has not been deleted with the request, and that serves no individual purpose (please note the relevant deletion request).

A page may also fall under a scheduled deletion and should be posted here if it is missed by the sysops.

Please detele these pages. But be sure not to delete them. Thanks. (I repeat: detele, not delete.) --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 23:06, 9 July 2013 (BST)

Old Groups

Groups with no significant historical meaning on the DeadendPages-list:

  • 101st Assualt Squad - No historical significance, made april 6, 2009 and last edit 3 days later.
  • 2Pacalypse - No historical significance, made august 13, 2008 and last content edit 14 days later.
  • 50's Fight Club - No historical significance, made october 19, 2008 and last content edit was the very same day.
  • 7th Recon Squad - No historical significance, made january 10, 2009 and last content edit was the very same day.

These are just the first four I found, but I saw the striking of rule #12. I have serious doubt about the value of such pages and am wondering if these could be removed (and if so: how)? PB&J 13:12, 19 June 2013 (BST)

Unless groups qualify for Crit 1 (no content) or are put up by the original author under Crit 7, they have to be put through the regular deletions process and be voted on before removal. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 13:38, 19 June 2013 (BST)
Yup. Just to make it official, Keep all of them until they go through the A/D process. Aichon 14:30, 19 June 2013 (BST)
It's gonna be a bit slower than I'd hoped, but I'll give it a go, thanks! PB&J 20:26, 19 June 2013 (BST)

Crit 8

I'd like to have the following pages deleted. They're all in my userspace. The first 104 are part of the reason the wiki lags everytime we update a danger report (since they're demo versions of the Danger Center), followed by a number of pages I no longer use. Sorry for the hassle but I think large scale clean-ups like these keep the wiki clean, clear and fast :) Thanks in advance! PB&J 15:55, 18 June 2013 (BST)

Done mostly by Bob with some help from me. Aichon 20:44, 18 June 2013 (BST)
Just a note: are all of these actually Crit 7? Most of the Demo pages at least were created and edited only by Charles. I deleted them under Crit 8 since they're in Peralta's userspace and that's who made the request. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 20:49, 18 June 2013 (BST)
True. C8 definitely applies better. In fact, we could've nuked them for a number of reasons, since C1 and C10 apply as well. Aichon 22:26, 18 June 2013 (BST)
Thanks, sorry for the amount of work I dropped here in one go ;) PB&J 04:17, 19 June 2013 (BST)

Thanks Aichon. Hey, is there a simple way for me to view all the pages I've created in one list? Am sure I have other crap taking up space that I'm not using.     : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : 05:58, 19 June 2013 (BST)

I'd suggest pulling up your contributions and just doing a Ctrl+F search for " Nm ", since that will point you to every single new page that you created. It's not exactly a simple list, unfortunately, but it's the best I can do, since the special page we have for listing new pages only keeps records for the last few days. Alright, consider the week started now XD Bob Moncrief EBDW! 15:07, 3 June 2013 (BST)
Just a suggestion, but should this just be handled as a common sense deletion and perhaps notify user of problems (dunno if this has already been done) If you need scheduled criteria, call it a monumental screw up or userspace issue (danger reports are in userspace after all not template space) . Just think things like this where it's an obvious mistake can be handled without too much red tape. Just my take on it. ~Vsig.png 16:44, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

A doubled location name is a clear enough monumental screw-up for me to be SchD. You know where to go to misconduct me. -- Spiderzed 18:19, 3 June 2013 (BST)

Not gonna A/M you over this, but I think the Monumental Screw-Ups rule is clearly for something different. I think the better course of action would've been to simply prompt the user to ask if we could delete it, which would give us C7 by proxy. Aichon 18:54, 3 June 2013 (BST)

It can actually be treated as a Crit 7 by proxy (i.e. scheduled), since the author deleted the content with the intent of having the page deleted. Anyway, done. Aichon 03:48, 3 June 2013 (BST)
