Active Zombie targeting/Zed Horde Attacks
by Zao: 03:39, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Suggestion type
- New game play mechanic
Suggestion scope:
- Survivors & Zombies
Suggestion description:
- Survivors are severely limited in our fighting capacity when hordes of 50-100+ zombies lay siege to our key buildings, by allowing us to specifically targets zombies that have been recently active (say 0-15/20 minutes) It will greatly balance the power struggle. If I walk outside my cozy little mall and see 3 zeds smashing our cades with 100 others tottering in the wind, why shouldn't I be able to take aim and shut them down for 15ap? This improvement is easily accomplished by slight changes to the zombie stack.
- While possibly game play ruining by giving an advantage (though survivors are at a disadvantage anyway right now...) a very similar mechanic can be added to the zeds to provide balance. When I think zombies I think a roaming horde of chaos, 15 zombies pulling apart my arms and legs etc., so why not make it so? Once again just slight changes to the stacking order can achieve this, Give zombies another button (maybe add it as a skill?) that allows them to "frenzy" by targeting the same survivor. A frenzy queue, unique to each building, can achieve this affect. Zeds shouldn't be able to be picky about who they kill anyway, they just want bra!nz.
Edited by --Zao 01:02, 31 March 2008 (BST) for clarification;
- The stacks I'm refering to are how players show up in our lists for combat/healing/etc. A survivor that is trying to kill a zed has to go from most inactive to active. If there are 100 zeds in a location and a group of 5 are taking down our cades My group would have to kill 95 to halt attacks, repair the cades, and generally just prepare for more onslaught. I don't really understand the negativity the idea has been getting, it allows for a more tactile combat environment. If all you want to do is sit inside and press f5 - repair barricade I guess you wouldn't see the point in this. Guess I'm just not that boring...
- Also the hate/spam against the zombie idea are unwarranted, it isn't necessary to implement this skill so but please give your opinion regarding the survivor aspect as well before casting a complete neg.

Keep Votes
- Keep - All the people who killed and spammed this thing are right it's easy to kill the most active zeds, I add almost every zed profile I see that way if a zed attacks me or takes down a barricade I can take them out...sometime. But I am still voting keep because I think it's a good suggestion that I have not seen before.--Jamie Cantwel3 04:57, 1 April 2008 (BST)
Kill Votes
- Kill - I doubt the efficacy of this suggestion to do what the author claims it will. - Grant (talk) 21:17, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill -Give them another skill? That is pretty vague. I also have my doubts if the suggestion will have the effect the author claims--Airborne88T|Z.Quiz|PSS 21:28, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill - Fixed, As Above--/~Rakuen~\Talk I Still Love Grim 21:31, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- KerKill - So uhm, how would this work without being incredibly complicated and unnecessary? 21:52, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill - Zombies dont need any new skills. Also, I find its more effective during a siege to target the inactive zombies anyway. If you shoot the active ones, they can stand back up before you have time to dump them, thus wasting all that AP and ammo you spent removing them.--Dr Doom86 T PSS 23:25, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- Huh?- I don't get what this is trying to say.--Studoku W! 23:50, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill - D'wha now? I suggest you run this through discussion first. As is, this is really hard to follow. --└Frozen┘┌Flame┐ 00:48, 31 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill - this is not cool. you shouldn't be killing zombies in the street. period. But, when a zombie enters a building and is online live ... which is when you should be shooting it ... then you'll know who's active ... and udwidget actually shows you their names; otherwise click on the link....and, have you ever heard of a DNA SCANNER?? --WanYao 00:53, 31 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill - Please don't post anymore suggestions. --The Gecko PKer 02:22, 31 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill - Umm, no. Have you ever played a zombie? Billy Club Thorton T! RR 03:26, 31 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill Can't say Its ever been a real problem for me. live fights are damn rare anyway unless you are in a mall seige, however if it doesnt already work this way, a survivor should ALWAYS target the last zed to attack him if its still present!--Honestmistake 09:45, 31 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill Doesn't quite work for me. -- TheDavibob T 10:47, 31 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill - use your contact list, extractor, firefox tabs. Btw - by attacking active zeds you want them to ?rise ?-- 16:47, 31 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill - No, sorry. It messes with the point of a zombie horde and it's a useless solution to the problem. And what is up with all the horrible suggestions today? April Fools' Day indeed. ~Ariedartin • Talk • A KS J abt all 14:18, 1 April 2008 (BST)
- Kill - This already happens. It's called Stacking. Happens with survivors and zombies too! --BoboTalkClown 19:42, 1 April 2008 (BST)
- Kill - Although I feel the current mechanic does need altered in terms of survivors hitting active zombies, giving zombies a new frenzy skill isn't really needed right now.--Kolechovski 20:21, 1 April 2008 (BST)
- I am on a voting spree, so to make this vote valid, I agree with everyone above. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:47, 2 April 2008 (BST)

- kill - Stop killing zeds outside or I'll be forced to call you all manner of awful names Sanpedro 05:37, 3 April 2008 (BST)
- Strong Kill - Zombies being faceless is a key aspect of this game. This suggestion is at once too complex and too vague. If you see a zombie kill someone, break the generator, or take down the last of the barricades add them to your contacts and you're already able to target them. There's no need to make two stacks and maybe make a generally useless zombie skill of functionality I still can't understand from reading that suggestion. --Riseabove 21:08, 5 April 2008 (BST)
- Kill - This is really sort of a half-ass idea. You should take the time to complete your thoughts. --Diano 22:29, 13 April 2008 (BST)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- Spam - for great efficacy! The problem isn't the three zombies at the front, it's the 100 behind them. --Funt Solo QT 22:20, 30 March 2008 (BST)

- Spam - This is not a very good idea, but I do totally support shooting zombies in the street. --Druuuuu OcTRR 04:57, 31 March 2008 (BST)
- Spam - And by spam I mean if this is one of your best suggestions stop now. The zombies are in a horde not standing in an orderly line where you can select one like a strolling hooker. You are in combat. Don't give us this line about "Guess I'm just not that boring..." Please! It's just another survivor wanting to nerf the zombies with a ridiculous combat advantage. Actually you are lucky that you automatically target the same zombie each attack until it goes down or leaves. If you wanted realism you should be making new attacks on new zombies each round. And your little "frenzy" bone is just a way to waste zombie AP by having them attack the same survivor. No survivor could stand up to more than about 16 zombies hitting them at once. --DCC 05:31, 1 April 2008 (BST)
