20080410 Aiming Skill

Suggestion Type New Skill

Suggestion Scope Survivors

Suggestion Description A skill costing 100 XP available to survivors under military. The skill would allow the player to spend one AP point to add 10% chance to hit to the following attack (and only the following attack). This skill would affect both melee and ranged combat weapons.

Benefits Adds another layer to combat by allowing AP points to be spent in order to increase the chance of a successful hit.

Adds another layer of strategy to the use of ammunition.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Author Vote: More strategy in combat. --Maxwell Substantial 07:10, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  2. Keep - don't really care, so keep.--Jamie Cantwel3 07:26, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  3. Keep - It's a strategic way of conserving ammo at the expense of damage/AP. I like it.--Studoku W! 18:53, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  4. Keep - I like it. Not a senseless buff, or a worthless one. --UCFSD 12:59, 11 April 2008 (BST)
  5. Keep - Makes the days spent gathering ammo somewhat more worth while.Gabdewulf 20:39, 17 April 2008 (BST)
  6. Keep - agree with Studoku. Meatshield 17:32, 21 April 2008 (BST)
Keep - just a statement but more prosurivor skills Gonnagvieuaids 16:35, 25 April 2008 (BST) Vote placed past deadline. --ZsL 20:55, 25 April 2008 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - unnecessary buff. --PdeqTalk* 06:53, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  2. Kil- much too vague..--Airborne88Zzz1.JPGT|Z.Quiz|PSS 07:31, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  3. whatever - so instead of, for example 1AP hit with fire axe 40% for 3 damage (1.2 damage per ap) you'll do 2ap for 1 hit 50% for 3 damage (0.75 damage per ap). shotguns? 1AP 10 dmg for 65% (6.5 dmg per ap, not counting search and reload) subst-ed for 2AP 10 dmg for 75% (3.75 dmg per ap, not counting search and reload) ditto for most other weapons... just significant decrease of DPS and nothing much more... even flares: right now maxed flare is 1AP 15 dmg with 15%, that is 2.25 dmg per ap. and you'll make it 2AP 15 dmg 25% -> 1.875 dmg per ap, not counting search. --~~~~ [talk] 08:19, 10 April 2008 (BST)
    • Re The fire axe is 35% not 40%. I understand your argument with the shotgun, however this skill would allow a character who has not yet advanced all of their weapons to advanced to have a better chance to hit for an additional AP cost. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Maxwell Substantial (talkcontribs) at an unknown time.
  4. Kill - Really not that unbalanced in general. It is useless for melee weapons (2AP attacking is better for all those) and doesn't really save any ammo shooting (better just to spend the AP searching). HOWEVER, I have to vote kill based on one thing. Flare guns, with a 25% chance hit rate. The one weapon it helps most is the one that most likely can't be aimed with any precision.
Besides, knowing how to aim properly is part of basic (and advanced) firearms training. Once you know how, more time doesn't really help much, outside a sniper situation. So I also don't see any reason to "keep". Not hating a suggestion is NOT a reason to keep. SIM Core Map.png Swiers 08:23, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  5. Kill - Kevan's RNG is amazingly shitty but I'd say Zombies need more of an accuracy improvement than survivors.--Zardoz 08:47, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  6. Kill - Unnecessary but interesting and fair. --Vandurn 13:56, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  7. Kill - Neat idea, but not necessary. I also share the same thoughts as Swiers over the flare gun. --ZsL 16:05, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  8. Kill - I don't think it would add interesting strategy - if it does better damage per AP than usual, the best strategy is to use it always, and if it does worse dmg/AP, then the best strategy is to never use it. --Toejam 16:19, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  9. Kill, unfortunately - Sometimes I hate to kill or spam something which I genuinely like, but I see multiple problems with this suggestion. First off being it seems like a duplication of already existing skills of Advanced Shotgun Training, Advanced Pistol Training, Axe Proficiency (to a lesser extent) and Knife Proficiency (to a lesser extent). Also, it would allow basically a 75% chance to hit with shotguns and pistols, which would be unbalanced against zombies (I can't believe I said that). I feel so dirty that I just said that. Plus I agree with everything that Swiers said .... Oh, and in one of your Re's, you are incorrect. The Fireaxe is a max of 40%, not 35% - the possible accuracy rates for axes are 10%, 25%, and 40%.--Tselita 16:33, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  10. Kill - so for a measly 100xp, and 1AP i can get 75% to hit with my shotty? what skill tree is it in? is it under firearms training? or is it it's own skill? your suggestion is incomplete. amongst other things. -- Jack S13 T! PC 17:32, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  11. Kill - Wow, a refreshingly unhorrid suggestion. However, there does not seem to be enough of a benefit for AP usage, but keep working on it!  Billy Club Thorton  T!  RR  17:39, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  12. Kill- Unnecessary. -- BKM 17:55, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  13. Kill - no smart person would ever use this--CorndogheroT-S-Z 18:00, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  14. Kill - Ineffective use of AP. - Grant (talk) 18:21, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  15. Kill - It's a good idea but weapons especcily ranged are overpowered in hitting them already so there's no need to improve it - --And25 18:03, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  16. Kill - as ToeJam --Explodey 20:20, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  17. Eviscerate- As everyone above. And don't limit it to the soldiers.--Rofl. 22:38, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  18. Kill - It needs penalties. As you have the suggestion right now, I could theoretically up my percentage to 100, and then proceed to annhilate everything in my path. Imagine the damage that those survivors packing 17 shotguns would do... --Private Mark 04:26, 11 April 2008 (BST)
  19. Why can't zombies use this if it applies to melee? Maybe if this cost more AP to use or something. You should have started this on the discussion page.--Pesatyel 04:28, 11 April 2008 (BST)
  20. Grudgingly kill... after carefully aiming - But only because it would be too easy to shoot someone with a flare gun. --Uncle Bill 06:07, 11 April 2008 (BST)
  21. Kill - XP is for skills, not a total waste of AP as explained by Duke Garland. -- The Lethal Trio [Tlk|NTCS|RRF] U! E! 15:59, 11 April 2008 (BST)
  22. Kill - Sounds totaly craptastic. Whats worse is that its a total waste of AP for no actual gain.--Carnexhat 23:29, 11 April 2008 (BST)
  23. Kill - Go find more ammo, all this does is reduce resource building dependence which makes the game less strategic. --Riseabove 22:21, 12 April 2008 (BST)
  24. kill - perhaps if there were scopes or something --Scotw 12:36, 13 April 2008 (BST)
  25. Kill - Not that survivors don't need some help, but can we have something else? ~AriedartinTalkA KS J abt all 13:01, 13 April 2008 (BST)
  26. Kill - What is the purpose? Common sense overrides your idea. --Sgt. Napalm 23:13, 16 April 2008 (BST)
  27. Kill - The RNG needs to be fixed before percentages are changed for anything. Rudiger Jones 11:20, 19 April 2008 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Bump guns to 75%? Hell no. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:34, 10 April 2008 (BST)
  2. Spamo - gawd no, no effen combat buff. heal, revive, cade instead of shooting stuff, it's not Halo, kids. --WanYao 10:19, 11 April 2008 (BST)
it's spam because it's WAY overpowered. 65% is lots. 75%? no bloody way. --WanYao 10:22, 11 April 2008 (BST)
  3. Spam - as wan. The answer to more powerful/better co-ordinated/more zombies isn't stronger guns, its improved not powered search rates in NTs, hospitals and drugstores and we've already got that.--xoxo 05:42, 21 April 2008 (BST)
