Before the Brits start bitching, Wiki standards for English spelling differences are based on the content in the page. All the things in this category with the word Humor in it have it spelled in the American fashion, even the Subcategory, as such the page should be spelled in the American fashion, sans the u. This will require changing the category on the pages it is used on as well but is still significantly less work than moving the pages to comply with the categories spelling, which shouldn't be done anyway as it's a bad editing practice.

- You can't move categories. -- AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 02:48, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- So it would seem. I guess I'm going to do this by hand then.--Karekmaps?! 02:50, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Against - this wiki has used Humour instead of Humor ever since it's beginning. The game is supposed to be based in an english city, is hosted in UK, uses UK timezone, have to follow farking UK Copyright Laws, and it's creator is a brit. I'd say we keep this cat as it is. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 02:52, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hagnat, the servers location has nothing to do with this. It's the articles content that determines it and the common use in the category is Humor. If it were about England than you might have a point but you don't, it's on the internet, it's a wiki, and keeping the category as is is just sloppy editing practices.--Karekmaps?! 02:57, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- yet the general consensus is that malton is in england. It's not only a wiki, but a wiki that reflects a game. If it's users are mostly from US, so what ? We should keep the category as it was if not only because of the already presented reasons, but for historical ones. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 03:02, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- GTFO the Malton is in England argument. No one can prove that other than Kevan and until you prove that stop spreading that damn claim, it shouldn't even be on the Malton page but every time it gets removed someone claims it's been proven then never proves it. The already presented reasons are simply that you want British spelling, that's a poor reason, show me where the British spelling is being used on the majority of pages then maybe you'll have a real point.--Karekmaps?! 03:06, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, ask the guy who doesnt know all the differences between en_US and en_UK to point all where one is being used and where the other is being used. Aye, ladie, fancie move be that thou casted. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 03:10, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- I meant simply for the word Humor, the only difference is Humor in the UK is spelled humour, with a u, but, the point is it's not being spelled that way anywhere but in the category tag, it's not spelled that way on the pages using the category tag, or the titles of the pages using the category tag, just the category tag itself.--Karekmaps?! 03:13, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm with Hagnat. -- AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 02:58, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- What the hell is wrong with you people? Look at the damn category, no articles have used the spelling Humour, not even in their titles when using the word. Since when did we do anything based on Kevan being British or the server being in he UK?--Karekmaps?! 03:01, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hell, even the Humorous suggestions area uses the damn American spelling.--Karekmaps?! 03:03, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm just concerned that you are finding trouble where there is none. The category works fine as it is, there is no need to change it just because it doesnt follow the american way of saying it. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 03:06, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Trouble where there is none? Moving the category to match up with the pages that use it is simple common sense. You're trying to stop common sense because you, what?, like the British spelling better? If everything uses the American Spelling there is no reason for the Category alone to use the British one.--Karekmaps?! 03:09, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
How about you get community support before making such a large change? Already two people disagree with you. It should be Humour, not Humor.-- AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 03:15, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- How about I finish my edit and if you can come up with a reason why your system makes sense at all you revert it. As is you have yet to do that because, quite frankly, I couldn't care less about your opinion when your argument goes against what is in the articles.--Karekmaps?! 03:16, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- If you want to discuss it go to the irc because I'm done helping spam up this page.--Karekmaps?! 03:20, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Here's wikipedia's stance on using different varieties of English. We're not compelled to follow wikipedia's direction, but they are in a similar situation so much of the same reasoning applies here. In the interests of full disclosure, I should declare that last May I merged the two categories. There were 7 articles in Category:Humor and 56 articles in Category:Humour so I moved the seven (from Humor) into the fifty-six (Humour). I'm not sure if it was a good idea, on the one hand having only the one category feels more organised, but on the other changing spelling from American-style to British-style (or vice-versa) can be a sensitive issue. --Toejam 06:11, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
I am against this as well. Leave it the way it is. Just correct the spelling in the articles. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 06:19, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Revivification is the official game term, Revive is the user made vernacular of what, in game, is actually referred to as Revivifying. That and Revivification is the more important of the two being both a state and an action why Revive is just an action. The page should have been at Revivification in the first place.

- Roughly the same reason why we can't Delete or Protect pages all wily-nilly.--Karekmaps?! 04:57, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- I disagree. Moved pages leave redirects, so they won't inconvenience people in the meantime, and page moves are a sysop-only action, which meants they are subject to being ruled on by Misconduct if necessary. That is a sufficient level of checks and balances for me – but if you have a strong argument against, I'd be glad to hear it. (N.B. I come from Wikipedia where page moving is available to any user account that has been there for x amount of time. There are surprisingly few problems.) ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾᚨᚾᛏ 09:09, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sysops here are free to delete such left over redirects, Revenant. I leave {{movedelete}} on the page for a few weeks, or correct any links that point to the old page before deletion... but it's not mandatory -- boxy talk • i 10:12 24 January 2008 (BST)
- Does that apply only to unused redirects? Because if not, it should. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾᚨᚾᛏ 15:10, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
