A better way to strike

Just letting you know that I've created a new template, Strike, that should allow us to strike comments and other things in a superior way to how we normally strike things. Once the wiki is updated and we can use templates inside of other templates, this will be even handier (e.g., we can use it on the suggestions page). Here's an example of it in action: while right now we strike things, it's even better to strike them in style. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 21:00, 29 July 2006 (BST)

Sorry I'm a n00b

I did read the "suggestions" instructions and that's what the instructions say to do. If not, then the instructions aren't clear enough. Not everyone is a computer geek. Some of us have day jobs. If I didn't do it right, then instead of criticizing me, why don't you be proactive and submit it correctly for me. I'm just playing a game here. I won't bother to make any more suggestions, I promise. J4m3z 03:52, 11 August 2006 (BST)

Template:Welcomenewbie

Hi! First I want to thank you for showing interest on improving the template. Now that the thanks are given, I must point out that I had that idea some time ago (to include the template on a colored box), but its current format makes it look out of place. It's too big to be on a colored box, and according to its usage, if that change were to be implemented, it wuold look even more out of place because both the title "== Welcome to our Wiki ==" and the user's sign wuold fall outside the box (like here). --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC | T | W! 19:27, 27 July 2006 (BST)

Because you never told me who the hell you were. I've also been ventilated by one "Kevan Davis". Not sure if he's the real deal, but that'll teach me to take a swing at him. My innate majesty should be recognizable regardless of what my name might be. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it was Steven Jones who offed you, a little while back. Also, what faction are you in? I was an alpha tester way back in the day, so there's a fair chance we're squadmates.
Seems like it might be a bit too ironic for Kevan to be playing what appears to be the main rival to his own game, though. --Jimbo Bob ASSU! 01:40, 14 June 2006 (BST)
I'm a newbie; so I'm just learning the ropes really. I've got three characters; Two evil, one neutral. I just don't enjoy playing the good guy. I've always preferred being the evil bastard. *fiendish grin* –Xoid STFU! 01:43, 14 June 2006 (BST)
Heh. I'm at four good and three evil at the moment, but at least one of those good guys is, practically speaking, more of a neutral (I keep his morality high because it's a hell of a lot easier to get rid of it than it is to earn it back). Unsolicited advice: pick a high-level faction with open membership and join now (I'm assuming from your post that you're not currently a member in any). Even if you don't want to settle on a faction just yet, which is altogether understandable, it's worth it for the combat bonuses alone. Plus, a lot of the better ones are closing their membership owing to some infiltration bullshit that's been going on, so you'd likely do well to get your foot in the door while you still can. Personally, I recommend you put one of your guys in Oblivion Squadron, home of the aforementioned Steven Jones. Their stronghold's in prime real estate, and I believe they currently have the best combat bonuses of any open faction.
Anyway, just my two cents. --Jimbo Bob ASSU! 01:55, 14 June 2006 (BST)

The Explanation

  1. Marcus arilus2 tried to add himself to the MPD Member category.
  2. I moved his botched attempt to his user page. I then nominated the resulting redirect for speedy.
  3. Gilant thought I might have been nominating the category itself. I said that I wasn't nominating the category, only the redirect.
  4. Gilant replaced the redirect with a guide explaining how to add yourself to the category. The request for speedy deletion was no longer relevant.

I made the comment "He [Marcus arilus2] needs a project welcome member to babysit him." because he seems to lack a grasp of the basics. I was hoping that since many moderators are members of Project Welcome, and many moderators visit the speedy deletions page that one would notice the comment and consider explaining the basics to him.

Sorry for the confusion I caused, yesterday was just not a good day to try contributing. –Xoid STFU! 05:49, 23 May 2006 (BST)

  1. See near the top of the screen, the link called preferences? Click on it. It'll bring up a preferences screen. Click on the checkbox that says "raw signatures". There is a text field just above it. Type in User:Nox 777 and you'll just get your name, like normal. You'll need to add stuff after that if you want it to work. For example; if your raw signature was User:Nox 777 Talk it would come out as Nox 777 Talk. If you need more help, don't be scared off by the U!

It's just some hyperbole, Amazing. If you said "I grabbed xoid, put him through a meat grinder and fed him to all the customers at McZeds™.", I wouldn't have a problem with it. Arbitration

Would you be willing to arbitrate the Amazing vs ASS arbitration case? Thanks. --BobHammero ASS 05:04, 3 May 2006 (BST)

Amazing appears to have violated the terms of the arbitration ruling by replying to me after the arbitration ruling. If you're thinking "Well, maybe he just did that before reading the ruling, and it was in good-faith" - then yeah, at first I thought that might be it too. Then I noticed that he'd made the edits to the Crossman page required by the ruling ~1 hour prior to this, pretty clearly indicating he'd already seen the ruling. Anyway, just thought this was worth bringing to your attention. --Jimbo Bob ASS 08:50, 11 May 2006 (BST)

Note: Since I have been spoke of, which I think is against the ruling, I will make a statement here. I removed the ASS info from the CDF page because it was bloated and overtaking the section, and changed the header on a whim, seeing that it didn't really help my case to sling "troll" around as much as I have in the past. Since I believe this to be a good-faith report from someone who believed what he was saying, I do not actually consider this statement about me to be in violation of the ruling. I'm sure there's more I need to edit to be in total 100% compliance with the ruling. Had I been acting on the ruling, I surely would have gotten to all of it in one edit. Besides all that, I removed my reply to this user and actually made note I had replied in error way before seeing this report. Update: Only found one ASS-Related comment to remove. Turns out we didn't have as much as I thought. -- Amazing 04:48, 12 May 2006 (BST)

Thanks for updating the Unglossary. :D I cannot make a decision either way for Kevan Is Cool. I know it probably doesn't belong on the wiki, but it also seems fairly harmless. I also cannot make a decision regarding the SuggestionsInRevision & some other request because I am not familiar with the author or the project they were attempting. --Lint 22:18, 18 April 2006 (BST)

Suburbs/new

We might have some use for it later. Leave it there for now. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 18:21, 20 April 2006 (BST)

moderator moving suggestions

It's point two of the closed suggestion intro template

Suggestions with a rational Vote tally of 2/3 Keeps over total of Keeps, Kills, and .5 x Spams will be moved to the Peer Reviewed Suggestions page by a moderator, unless the original author has re-suggested the Suggestion. -emphasis mine-

I'm as surprised as you are, because I'm quite certain that didn't use to be the case and I seem to have missed the rule change. I find it strange as well because why whould it need to be a mod moving those suggestions? It's not like it's sensitive material that needs somebody extra trustworthy to handle, it's just normal maintance, and the mods time is better used elsewhere. So i'm going to message Odd starter about it see what he knows, so people can move suggestions again.--Vista W! 19:15, 20 April 2006 (BST)

Commented now, I'm actually not that pleased with the way I put it, that was part of the hold-up as I was trying to formulate it better, but yeah it was high time I gave my oppinion, so I hope you're not too disappointed as it'll have to do.--Vista W! 19:43, 20 April 2006 (BST)
just curious, my fellow european, which country of our majestic continent you call your home?

Etiquette (et al.)

Pleased to see you like the template. You might want to speak with Hagnat about his flagbox template not displaying things properly, though. -Wyndal (talk)-(W!)-(SGP) 19:10, 23 April 2006 (BST)

  • Disregard the part about informing Hagnat. Apparently I was suffering from an ID10T error. I left spaces around the |s, and that must have been what was creating whatever sort of problem you saw. -Wyndal (talk)-(W!)-(SGP) 19:17, 23 April 2006 (BST)
    • Apparently we discovered it at approximately the same time. Heh. You from experimenting, and me from watching. Haha. -Wyndal (talk)-(W!)-(SGP) 19:20, 23 April 2006 (BST)

Heh. You seem to like my templates. *grins* Should I make more? -Wyndal (talk)-(W!)-(SGP) 20:01, 25 April 2006 (BST)

I can take full credit (minus the flagboxing on the last two) for Template:Etiquette, Template:EtiquetteSmall, and Template:StIsidore; I flagboxed Template:Grammar for Andrew McM, and I turned Template:Projectwelcome2 into Template:Smallwelcome2 for Project Welcome and Odd Starter. *grins* Any causes in particular for which you'd like to see a new template? -Wyndal (talk)-(W!)-(SGP) 21:16, 25 April 2006 (BST)

Rollback
