The name of the suburb is shrouded in mystery, layered in legend, enveloped in enigma and then deep-fried and slathered in supposition. The most popular belief is that it is named after an ancient legendary giant so huge he was known simply as Great Big, or 'Grigg' for short. Awakened from a hundred-year-long nap by the increasingly noisy little town of Malton, the giant resolved to destroy it by casting huge boulders at the burgeoning borough. The removal of these boulders left the valley that is now found running through the neighbouring burbs of [[Owsleybank]], [[Molebank]] and [[Reganbank]]. However, the exertion proved too great even for Grigg, who succumbed to a ruptured hernia and fell dead on the edge of the city. As his body decomposed, it formed the distinctive range of hills (the Heights) which characterise this area of western Malton. Indeed, the suburb is so hilly that several large areas are undeveloped, including the peak centring on [[the Heneage Monument]]. This makes it rather tricky to get around, even for free runners.

The Grigg Heights suburb has the following active radio stations.

Freq: 26.04: South-West Malton

The name of the suburb is shrouded in mystery, layered in legend, enveloped in enigma and then deep-fried and slathered in supposition. The most popular belief is that it is named after an ancient legendary giant so huge he was known simply as Great Big, or 'Grigg' for short. Awakened from a hundred-year-long nap by the increasingly noisy little town of Malton, the giant resolved to destroy it by casting huge boulders at the burgeoning borough. The removal of these boulders left the valley that is now found running through the neighbouring burbs of Owsleybank, Molebank and Reganbank. However, the exertion proved too great even for Grigg, who succumbed to a ruptured hernia and fell dead on the edge of the city. As his body decomposed, it formed the distinctive range of hills (the Heights) which characterise this area of western Malton. Indeed, the suburb is so hilly that several large areas are undeveloped, including the peak centring on the Heneage Monument. This makes it rather tricky to get around, even for free runners.

Well, it's the locals' legend and they like it.

Prior to the Zombie Outbreak, Grigg Heights was thought of as a peaceful and quiet suburb of Malton. The sleepy suburb supported six hospitals and a research facility owned by NecroTech (the primary employer of pre-crisis Malton). The residents at that time were also considered to be educated, music lovers, and appreciative of the finer things in culture. These attributes can still be seen in the ruins of Grigg Heights by what is left of the three jazz clubs in the south of the suburb (Club Whittem, Club Whittard and Club Allerston), as well as its museums the Linnett Museum, the Wriford Museum, and the Timmins Building which was built for the purpose of displaying the various varieties of art to be found here. Numerous Eastern European immigrants settled here after the war, proving to be both a cultural and economic asset to the growth and stimulation of the suburb. Providing several locations of merit, this community frequently had visitors come solely for the experience of another culturegroup. Grigg Heights is also notable for having the Ripley Building, one of the hallmarks of Malton architecture and a triumph of 21st century design.

The most notable events in the history of this suburb involve the group DORIS. More information can be found here.
