The Barh Family

Sorry for taking like a week to reply. Didn't even notice your comment. Didn't get that from CSI though. I was watching repeats of the X-Files and Mulder and Skully were searching for the Gospel of Mary Magdalene. While searching they would pottery, which like a vinyl record, had sound recorded into it. When played it would make the dead rise. They then trace it and find that it was recorded by Lazarus's aunt when Jesus made him rise from the dead. I saw this and thought "Wow! That would be awesome in UD." So that's where I got it from. Sonny Corleone WTF 21:23, 18 July 2006 (BST)

Moved from M/SD

Perhaps you understand now why Sonny wants that policy implemented? –Xoid STFU! 06:24, 31 July 2006 (BST)

I understood completely, but I don't like the way that he chose to try and implement it. Had he been less harsh towards those who created without the waiting period and had added a new crit. for here I would have kept. --Darth Sensitive Talk W! 06:27, 31 July 2006 (BST)
Less harsh being no vandalism charge? Also: while not specifically mentioned, I think it was implied that there would be a new criterion required. That being said, I'd have no major qualms with that revision. –Xoid STFU! 06:39, 31 July 2006 (BST)
At least not on the first shot. Give him a talk page, non VB connected warning, then send him to VB if he persists. If it gets revised, I think it should add the criteria, like in my policy under discussion.--Darth Sensitive Talk W! 06:44, 31 July 2006 (BST)
As I said, I'd have no major qualms with it. I just wish people would read the policies in place before taking action. Do you know what I did on my first day here? I read every policy. That's right, every single fucking policy we had. For the first few weeks I kept double-checking that I was doing stuff right, and I followed the examples of moderators and long term contributors when the rules seemed ambiguous. Most of the people who would get treated "harshly" are impatient or lazy. –Xoid STFU! 06:43, 2 August 2006 (BST)
I read what I could find - this place can be a bit of a mess. I've gotten better since then though. But you're a good example of what everyone should be... even if they can't meet your standard. You're abrasive, but one of the best mods and contributors here. But we can hope that the lazy/impatient people learn from their mistakes. --Darth Sensitive Talk W! 06:55, 2 August 2006 (BST)

Your Policy Thingy

My only concern is groups that don't utilize the wiki that often. Also, some groups are pretty small and their numbers fluctuate and may not even have any members, but they are still valid groups. Take The Last Poets for instance, I restarted this groups after months, maybe a year of inactivity. That history would have been lost with a policy like this.Satandisc 06:04, 11 August 2006 (BST)

The Lord God intended nothing beyond the accomplished humor, and issues his consent to delete the previous comment and/or this one at your whim. -- (The Lord God) Pray 07:54, 14 August 2006 (BST)

The Lord hopes the "commentary" section is open to him. If not, please move or remove this. The Lord God edited his own text area which was created for him to voice his opinions. There was no reply to it, rather the other user had his own space to place his opinions. Also, the Lord God was not the only one to edit his comments, and one of the cited edits linked was actually made before the other user had even made his statement. Other than this, the Lord God has no further comment. -- (The Lord God) Pray 18:32, 15 August 2006 (BST)

It wasn't, but it's OK that you put this here, it's fixed. You aren't in trouble for it, but it is bad form. Rest assured, I took a good look at the edit history for the page. But I would like to ask you to refrain from doing it again. --Darth Sensitive Talk W! 18:50, 15 August 2006 (BST)

Arbitration commentary

Thanks for arbitrating. I assume you won't mind a little friendly feedback:

  • Ignore each other for a week - Gladly.
  • Act civilly towards him for three weeks afterwards - I already intended to.
  • No required apology - Good. There is ample disagreement over whether or not that is an acceptable arbitration ruling anyway.
  • One apology post allowed this week - Fine, but I certainly hope that you're being honest that it's optional.
  • Post three good things - Frankly, this is very much like being made to apologize, and goes too far into the "you're a toddler" analogy.
  • No warnings - Hooray.
  • Warnings may be assessed in a month - Warnings for justifiable offenses will be posted on M/VB before a month is up. Warnings won't be given for things that are brought up in a month that wouldn't be accepted on M/VB. Why is this even here? You can't warn someone for something that isn't a warn-able offense, and moderators aren't required to enforce arbitrator rulings, since there is no process for becoming an arbitrator.
  • Meet back in a month to discuss things - That will be difficult, since the Arbitration page is archived shortly after cases end. I'm also not sure about why you have that requirement, since we really aren't toddlers, you know.

Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 19:19, 15 August 2006 (BST)

No problem with the commentary. Completely optional to apologize. I don't care if you don't - I think things might be better if you all did. I hoped that you two would actually take it seriously and see the good side of the other person. Think of it as a misguided attempt to inject some levity into a minor war that was brewing. And on the "in a month" thing... I screwed up. I've misread the stuff on VB and VD. I don't get to do that... it's gone. And we can revisit in a month - it's not hard to add extra stuff to the archive later. I really think that the two of you need to kill the tension, which is basically what I was arbitrating. So - I just want to confirm my faith in people's characters in a month. --Darth Sensitive Talk W! 19:38, 15 August 2006 (BST)

Arbitration Question

You have inspired the Lord's divine creativity. The Lord God asks your opinion on weather or not this would be an allowable template for him to place on his userpage:

Black kettle.jpg I'm Black!?
This kettle recieved a call from the pot.

As you can see it is not specific, but the Lord thought it best to run this past you first. Bless you. -- (The Lord God) Pray 18:00, 16 August 2006 (BST)

It isn't the best idea. I wouldn't do it until you can ask him if he would mind. Even then, it wouldn't be reccomended. --Darth Sensitive Talk W! 18:43, 16 August 2006 (BST)
Interesting. -- (The Lord God) Pray 19:01, 16 August 2006 (BST)
This template is in reference to Darth Sensitive using the term "pot calling the kettle black" on the arbitration page and nothing else. The Lord God knows of no other meaning. Anyway, the Lord forgot his original question: Can The Lord God vote "keep" on a speedy delete report made by the other user involved in this case? It is based on merit of the case and not who reported it. -- (The Lord God) Pray 20:53, 16 August 2006 (BST)
I know it is, he knows it is. But it falls under the "baiting clause" of the verdict. But yes, you can vote on the SD case. You aren't restricted from existing on the wiki. --Darth Sensitive Talk W! 21:31, 16 August 2006 (BST)

Darth: given the circumstances that inspired the creation of that template, I'd like to say that I don't find it particularly amusing. Surely if you balked at what my signature change could have meant, you will notice that template is obviously baiting? –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 19:31, 16 August 2006 (BST)

Oh - I see it. I don't nessecarily disagree with it, but it is baiting. If he sticks it on his page, feel free to take him to M/VB. I told him to run it by you at the end of the week if he felt it was worth it. I hope that by then he won't feel the need to. Maybe I'm overly optimistic. --Darth Sensitive Talk W! 19:55, 16 August 2006 (BST)

Pardon?

"Barely used != unused"

And plenty of precedent for stretching the meaning of "unused" on M/SD. If we followed the rules to the exact letter, half the shit that needs to be deleted couldn't be.
Fix the rules so that they cover "underused" like the Redirect criteria. But don't bend them until they break. -DS
I agree that the rules need to be fixed. Badly. We're in the process of rewriting some of them, so we'll get to the Speedy Deletions rules soon hopefully. But I didn't break any rules, since it isn't required that we list the criteria, and the page was valid under criterion 1 anyway. So what's your point here? -BH
However, it is traditional to do so. But the point is that 10 doesn't apply as written. However, 1 does. -DS

"criterion 1 applied"

So let's stop our conversation there.
Ok. -DS
But that's no fun. ;) -BH
Go flame The Devil or something. That would be enyouable. -DS

"created by a vandal isn't currently a valid criteria"

But a shitload of precedent for deleting vandal made pages without even going through Speedy Deletions. I won't name names, because I'd like to see my comrades left alone instead of harassed, but it happens.
I'm not in the mood to dig through the past to stir up trouble. I'm not filing a misconduct case this time. But there's a difference than things created by adbots/PQN/3pwv and this. -DS
Really? Let's look at Amazgod and compare him to, say, 3pwv. Flagrant disregard for wiki policies? Check. Creation of alt accounts to circumvent bans? Check. Hated by almost everyone? Check. Obvious hatred and taunting directed at moderators? Check. Creation of inflammatory content? Check. Vandalism of pages? Check. Impersonation of other users? Check. Hmm. They look similar to me. Amazing was just slightly more intelligent. -BH
His contributions weren't all outright horrible. You think it's worth creating a criteria just for stuff like this? -DS

"because I'm sick of seeing Speedy Deletion being abused"

Abused? How?
Using it on things that don't belong. -DS
Except that it did belong…. -BH
That's true, 'nother point for you. -DS

"and people consequently sent to misconduct"

Show me a single case of misconduct over Speedy Deletions. Wait, I'll do one for you: Amazing deleting an image that someone else uploaded during the single day that he was wrongfully a moderator. Hang on, that was never nominated, so it doesn't count. Never mind. You were saying?
Point. However, hagnat's early deletion earned him a warning for a not dissimilar case. -DS
Somewhat similar, but not very. Hagnat deleted a page that was "obviously" going to be deleted (which is true, but was still not allowed), not one that was already listed on Speedy Deletions (by the way, you will also notice that I was the moderator to rule against Hagnat). I didn't even delete the page, you know, I just nominated it. Why aren't you arguing with Nubis? -BH
I did see that you did it. I didn't intend to start an argument, nubis isn't involved because he didn't get involved. He posted and left. :) (I think he wins this round). I didn't handle this well, sorry. But to me, at least, it seems like not listing a criteria is taking a shortcut the same way hagnat did. -DS

"Just validate things correctly in the future and things will work better."

I did validate things correctly. Criterion bloody 1. What more do you want? Half the pages that show up there are not listed with a criterion, and half the deletion notices on those pages don't give one either. We look at the pages and decide if they fit anything or not. Jeez. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 02:02, 21 August 2006 (BST)
I don't want to create trouble. Noone is going to miscontribation. But in the future, it would be nice if you justified the reason clearly in your text when nominating. 90% of the ones in the past month do have a criteria listed with the nomination or deletion. Please do be more careful in the future. Oh, and the meet back in a month thing for arbitration is canceled. Hope you don't mind. The edit God/Amazing complained about was questionable, but won't be acted upon. --Darth Sensitive Talk W! 02:27, 21 August 2006 (BST)
I almost always do. Nubis had just deleted another page I nominated, so I was pretty sure that he would see that one, take a quick look and see what it fell under, and get rid of it too. Which is what happened. I'm glad to know you won't be reporting me to Vandal Banning over mentioning God (as I am doing here as well). By the way, I'm almost positive that you owe me a cookie or something over whether or not he was really Amazing. :D –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 03:51, 21 August 2006 (BST)
I think you normally handle things well. I don't agree with the way that you handled this, but how you did it worked. Sorry again for blowing this up to more than it was supposed to be. Moderators and Sysops, or the necessity to be moderate for once

Darth, I saw your support for Jon Pyre's policy, and your willingness as a Mod (or should I say Sysop?) to sacrifice your free speech in order to become better (Or should I say a real Mod?). May I direct you here? I'm looking for unbiased guy's input before I bring such a monster to Policy Discussion. Use the discussion page of that same page to say whatever you want, and if you can make any gramatic corrections that you see fit on the text, by all means do it, as I'm terrible writing in English. Thanks! --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 23:09, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

He sure is nice and willing to take part in discussion. Yeah sure, the first paragraph might've been a bit toasty. Understandably, I was a bit pissed when he insulted me, my friends and my integrity. But still it got removed as flaming. Nevermind the fact that his numerous diatribes on the page contain more bile in their first sentence than my single paragraph did. Of course I then remove the offending paragraph in the hopes he will actually read it this time, but he considers that to be more flaming. Read it if you care to, don't if you do not. Just bear in mind that this is the guy trying to make out like we are the fascists.

He also seems quite content to start a discussion in one place and then remove my comments on the basis of their being off-topic. Effectively leaving me unable to reply to his scathing, yet incorrect criticism. –Xoid MTFU! 15:41, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

I saw your comments, don't nessecarily agree with them. But I asked him to restore them and consider them. And I know I'm not included in the fascist stuff. --Darth Sensitive Talk W! 22:55, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

X:00 - "not a group you put in your profile"

I noticed you registered on the X:00 user page as being one of the folks who attacks at 0:00, but have X:00 in your character profile. It's not much use having X:00 in the profile, unless you really DON'T want folks to know when you are gonna attack- which is sort of against the whole point of X:00! --Swiers X:00 00:23, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm. Thought I read somewhere on the page to keep it at X:00 when not getting ready to go so that it might help publicize the group. He's definitely not at a place that it will be any use, but I can change if you think so. --Darth Sensitive Sith Lord•C•T•W! 04:16, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that's a possible way to do it- I suggested that for folks who were worried about "giving away to much info"- which it seems very few people are. It doesn't really matter, I guess, as long as its set to the appropriate time for a decent amount of time before and after you plan to attack. I find it hard to log on early and change my profile, so I just leave it set at 0:00. If anybody tries to view 0:00 (or any similar group) it re-directs them to X:00 anyhow. Just something to consider. --Swiers X:00 17:12, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
