Malton Emergency Medical Service/Command
The Malton Emergency Medical Services has a structured chain of command. This hierarchical organization is designed for efficiency and clarity. Department personnel are spread out throughout the city, and our greatest strengths are our organizational abilities and dedication to helping each other, as well as the citizens of Malton! As such, although all department personnel are expected to work within the chain of command and follow the guidelines and policies put forth by their superiors, they are also strongly encouraged to communicate and work with each other to meet local needs to the best of their abilities. MEMS officers are also encouraged to communicate and work with any local organizations whose goals are congruent with department policy - saving the lives of survivors and protecting property, particularly those resources needed for survival.
Department Organization
The city of Malton is divided up in a grid-work pattern of suburbs, organized into four quadrants or divisions. The Chief Medical Officer is in charge of all operations, helped by the Assistant Chief Medical Officer, with each division fall under the command of a Commander. Each Division is divided up into 5 Districts, each consisting of 5 suburbs. Each Districts duties are coordinated by a Deputy Commanders, with Specialists in charge of individual suburbs.
- There is one Chief Medical Officer who is in charge of all MEMS operations.
- There is one Assistant Chief Medical Officer that helps the Chief Medical Officer with their duties.
- There are four Commanders, one for each division, who report to the Chief Medical Officer or Assistant Chief Medical Officer.
- There are up twenty-five Deputy Commanders, one for each district, who reports to their Commander.* There is a specialist for every suburb, who reports to their Deputy Commander.
- There are Paramedics and EMTs, who report to their Specialist, if there is one in their suburb. If not, they report to their Deputy Commander.
The current status of the chain of command is that there is a need for 95 Specialists and 16 Deputy Commanders.
