20071128 Show Suburb Name in Page Title

Darth LumisT! A! E! SR 01:54, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Suggestion type
A change to the interface.

Suggestion scope
All players.

Suggestion description
After logging in the game, instead of "Urban Dead- The City," the page title will show the suburb your character is in. For example, if your character is in Shackleville, the title displayed would be "Urban Dead- Shackleville." And of course, the title is updated when you move to another suburb.
This will make the window title more descriptive, which come in handy if you have a bunch of other windows or tabs open. Also makes the game just a bit more flavorful.

  2. Weak Keep - The only time i see this coming in handy is when i want ot go back or forth in my navigation history to see who said what and where was i a few aps ago. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 02:09, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  3. Uh - could be useful Anti gorefest5 TalkMEMSBS --anti gorefest5 02:16, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  4. Sure - Why not? It dosen't hurt. --BlobdudeTalk TM MC 02:47, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  5. Keep This is one of those "Why the Hell Not?" moments... ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 05:14, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  6. Keep - "[Suburb]" is more useful than "The City". --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 08:43, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  7. Keep – Sure, could be handy. And in response to Duke Garland below: actually, you can play with two characters at once. Log into urbandead.com with one and www.urbandead.com with the other. I do this all the time. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 08:56, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  8. Keep - Ya. --Cap'n Silly T/W/P/CAussieflag.JPG 09:22, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  9. Keep - As everyone above. --Waterspark2 08:21 A.M., 28 November 2007 (EST)
  10. Keep None of the kill voters understand this suggestion. He isn't talking about the suburb name above the map. He is talking about the title of the webpage on your browser window, on the same line as the program's minimize, maximize, and close buttons. This is very useful if you're scrolling down a long page of dialogue or events and don't have the map in view. It's a shame that CNR has made a clean sweep of this one. --Jon Pyre 15:57, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
    • As this seems to be directed at us... No, actually many of us have read the suggestion entirely and understand it. We reject it because the suburb info is already displayed above the map. It is true that putting it in the page title would be another distinct place for the info, but we think that's unnecessary. Concievably you might imagine having a popup window as well, and maybe using Javascript to write into the status bar too, but I think it would just another way to add redundant clutter. I suspect the others you accuse of not reading the suggestion feel the same. --Pgunn 16:34, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

  11. A Keep That's Stronger Than Titanium-A Battle Plate -Useful, especially if you're doing out-of-game co-ordination. And you kill voters have all - as Pyre said - been CNR. --Sgt. John TaggartUNIT 11/5 WCDZ TJ! 17:49, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  12. Keep - changed my mind, this is usefull. Re to those who think it's in game: <title>Urban Dead - The City</title> <-- it's not in game. --~~~~ [talk] 18:34, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  13. Keep - Something useful should be done with the space. It could even be Name - Suburb! Grant 01:00, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
  14. Keep - Suburb is already visible in the interface. But it's a "why the hell not" moment, so... WHY THE HELL NOT?!? -- UCFSD 17:04, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
  15. Keep - Sure. --Druuuuu 07:14, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
  16. Keep - In the title-bar of the web-browser? Hell Yeah! Title-bar changes when you drill down into profiles, contacts and skills tree. Changing it to reflect the current suburb stays with the current interface theme. -- ZEDU medic T MEMS 20:11, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
  17. Keep - Doesn't hurt, can only help really. -- SgtBop 20:54, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
  18. Sure, Maybe Change - Why the hell not? but like funt, change it so that its "suburb name - Urban Dead" --LOLMAOROFLBBQ--/~WOOT~\ 22:24, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
  19. Keep - Why not? --Lh778 04:46, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
  20. Keep - As Grant. --Mister Nathan Marbles 22:21, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Suburb is already visible in the interface. --Pgunn 02:06, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  2. Kill - As above --Heretic144 02:10, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

  4. Kill - it's already there.--Zach016 02:32, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  5. Kill - Uhhhh... OK? Omega 06:04, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Kill - you cannot play in 2 tabs with different characters in different suburbs, thus it's useless --~~~~ [talk] 07:21, 28 November 2007 (UTC) Changed my mind --~~~~ [talk] 18:34, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  6. Kill - Fine as is. -- John RubinT! ZG FER 08:48, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  7. Kill - This would make more sense if your character name was displayed in the page title, rather than the suburb -- boxytalk • 09:28 28 November 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill - as everyone else. why? --WanYao 11:03, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  9. Kill - It's already there.--SeventythreeTalk 13:21, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  10. Kill - I'm surprised Jon didn't already come up with this - it's already there --Ryiis 14:44, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  11. Kill - redundant... spam like even.... --Jack13 15:43, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  12. Unlike everyone else, I seem to get what you're saying. You want the suburb name to be in that blue strip thingy you see at the top of the window above the File, Edit, View, Bookmark, etc., right? Well...That's just pointless. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:26, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  13. I just dont like the idea. simple as that. --Happy doodle 12:13, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - it's already there. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 09:24, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Re Oh, wait, I get it now - you mean in the <title>. Well, even then, you should have it the other way around "suburb name - Urban Dead", because if the visible tab or window info. gets shrunk, as it does when there's loads of 'em, you want the pertinent info. right out in front. But, this is still pointless because you're only supposed to be dealing with one player at a time, despite the www/no-www workaround hack. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 13:46, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  2. Spam - Ay, Funt's the man. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 11:02, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  3. Dupe of the game - that's already there.--CorndogheroT-S-Z 13:18, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  4. Spam- The information is already there, where it is more useful. The only reason this would ever be needed is if you have multiple UD windows open which you shouldn't be doing.--Karekmaps?! 03:21, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
  5. Spam Dont bother making me justify this, i'll come up with some crap excuse.--Wooty 05:14, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
  6. Spam As Funt. --Karlsbad 20:20, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
