20071216 Carpark hideouts
Heretic144 03:32, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Suggestion type
Skill and gameplay change
Suggestion scope
Survivors, Hungry Zombies
Suggestion description
A new civilian skill would be created, called "Carjacker" or something to that affect.
The cars in carparks and streets would become visible. A survivor with Carjacker could enter a car for 1AP. Inside, nothing can be done except for radio broadcasts. However, the survivor isn't visible from the street, although his car is. A zombie or malicious survivor who sees that some cars are intact can select "The Cars" from his attack drop down menu and smash at a car until the survivor therein (or lack of survivor) is exposed and counts as standing in the street. Cars count as having Light barricades for the purposes of smashing open. Cars cannot be barricaded, but a survivor with a toolkit and construction can repair one "slot" per AP if no zombies are standing in the street or car park where he is.
Each carpark only has enough "slots" for four survivors and each street only has enough for one. If a survivor attempts to enter a car when all slots are full, then they get a message saying that there isn't enough room for them.
Descriptive text would read as follows:
All the cars here are smashed open (all slots ruined)
Almost all the cars here are smashed open (3 slots ruined)
About Half the cars here are smashed open (2 slots ruined)
A few of the cars here are smashed open (1 slot ruined)
There are a few cars here (0 slots ruined)

- Keep - I like it but i think cars should be barracadable. --Anti Gorefest5TMW!B! 03:34, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep yeah i like it, may need a few tweaks here & there but it's looks good to me --Skyvia 03:38, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep/Change This shouldn't require a skill. In real life any idiot with a hanger can open a car door, why should it be harder than that in a game? And OMG, you must've been reading my mind - I was just thinking of something like this to encourage survivors to sleep in the street. Makes humans happy because now they have *somewhere* to sleep if everything is at EHB, and makes zombies happy because meals are willing to make themselves more readily available. But if you require a skill, less meals will be able to make themselves available, so don't do that. I'm just trying to figure out how to add something to this to encourage the more daring survivors to sleep outside... Maybe the whole "Ha ha ha, no one will look for me here!!" thing or the thrill of risk-taking will be enough? --Ms.Panes 04:18, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep/change - I like the idea, it helps towards the problem of people being forced to stand outside, but it should be able to be barricaded in some way. --GunFox13 04:35, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep- Actually no changes. Barricading just makes it all complicated. --Darth LumisT! A! E! SR 04:55, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep I'd never use it, but Sure! ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 05:18, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep/Change - Brillant! just take it to the talk page to fix it up a little. --BlobdudeTalk TM MC 06:46, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

- Keep Yes. Mixes things up a bit. Omega 21:20, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep/Change Why not? High AP cost for repairing a car, though. It's great RP too, something like hide and seek - am I in the building, or am I in the car? and Karek, shut the hell up, every single suggestion I've read so far has you acting like a useless moron. User:Firestorm 23:10, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Here in my car/I feel safest of all/I can lock all my doors/It's the only way to live/In cars (Cookie for anyone who can tell me where that's from)--SeventythreeTalk 11:07, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - it's very interesting idea, and quite probable too - in many zombie movies there are survivors trapped in a car. Panicked survivor, running from one barricaded door to other, is probable to take a hideout in a car. Plus, Malton is a big city, and there would be no single car left in ? (as it looks now).--James beckerson 11:37, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - This is a very good idea and I was totally thinking of something like this except using buses. I think this would be great to implement. --MikhailA 22:54, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Orsum (say it slow) --Officer 123satsitx 01:54, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
Kill Votes
- Kill - It's not bad, but survivors have enough hiding places. --The Hierophant 03:44, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - interesting. I really feel this suggestion has merit. but i would like to see you take it to the suggestion talk page to work out some of the bugs.--'BPTmz 03:48, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - This is really promising, giving carparks a usage. Might want to make them like gates and bolt-cutters - once a car is smashed, it's smashed. I disagree with Grim, Zeds now have the upper-hand in terms of AP efficiency. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 07:46, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - Cute, but not realistic. Interesting from a gameplay perspective though. --Pgunn 10:09, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - Kind of silly, really. Half of Malton's inhabitants are hiding in cars. -- AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 17:02, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Change - Nice, but I don't suppose resource-strapped survivors with a single toolbox can necessarily weld together a smashed car (windows, too!) in a few minutes, eh? A higher AP cost for repairing, and more cars. –Ariedartin Talk 17:16, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- proviso - Im afraid this, even though it is a very nice, flavored suggestion will as a solitary tilt the balance of the game. It would only work if Kevan would implant another change in favour of the zambahs. Something like the Falling Into Disrepair suggestion. --the wallaby♥ 18:30, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- I do believe it provides zeds with nicely-canned lunches. –Ariedartin Talk 10:34, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- Read the vote of the grimch. --the wallaby♥ 03:03, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

- Kill/Change - An interesting idea, and if zombies got a boost with it, it would definitely be something interesting for the game. However, I don't think the suggestion is quite there yet. --Druuuuu OcTRR 18:50, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - needs work. Take it to Talk:Suggestions. --Pavluk A! E! 20:25, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Kill/Change - This could be better. BoboTalkClown 21:24, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - just kind of a "meh" idea--CorndogheroT-S-Z 03:04, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - enough hiding places -- boxy talk • i 07:02 17 December 2007 (BST)
- Kill - as many above and below in the Spam section --Ryiis 14:49, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - as per grimch. --WanYao 10:06, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - I think it's bad to give humans a way to construct light barricades with only 1 AP. - Grant 01:28, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - I believe that survivors have quite enough places to hide from zombies. --TriPolarClicky! 02:56, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- Spam - Humans have more than enough places to hide. This just means that now zombies have to search over a thousand extra blocks to wipe out everyone in an area, and they can make a new safehole infallably for 2ap. This would tilt the AP imbalance a great deal in the favour of the survivors, who are already up in that war by a considerable amount. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 05:13, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Spam - how do you hide in a car? Last time I looked, they all had windows. And, we can assume that the first barricade a zombie will smash is the windows. Then, according to this suggestion, along comes a survivor and fixes the car windows with his toolbox. How? Wouldn't a survivor be better off just getting into a building, than playing hide and seek in cars with tinted, indestructible windows? --Funt Solo QT 11:10, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Spam - This suggestion verifies my belief that most voters are idiots who want the game unbalanced in favor of survivors. Do Not Add To Barricades, Do Not Suggest Hiding. Idiots.--Karekmaps?! 11:44, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Spam Extremely tilts the balance of the game in the favor of the survivors. In a ruined neighborhood survivors either have to gamble to sleep in ruins (and be wary of ferals) or attempt to build a hideout (e.g. clear a building from zombies, repair, barricade - and risk acting like a beacon to every zombie in the vincinity). This gives them the ability to hide in cars, where zombies would rarely bother to look. So, spam it is! CharonX 17:13, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- physics - Im pretty sure if you're in a car, and someone smashes it to bits....that you will die with the car. -doc crook 21:31, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Spam - No hiding. -- John RubinT! ZG 09:11, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- It's not a zombie ambush team now...it's a survivor ambush team! By the way...a survivor inside the car should be viewable. Ever heard of windows? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 21:06, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
- Spam - So, over 20 hiding spots per 'burb isn't enough?-- dǝǝɥs oʇ ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 22:15, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
