20080504 Modify Profile Death Status
Kolechovski 20:51, 4 May 2008 (BST)
Suggestion type
Logic Flaw Fix
Suggestion scope
Slain survivors
Suggestion description
CURRENT GAME MECHANICS:
When you view someone’s profile, you get their alive/dead description, as well as their class (Civilian, Military, or Scientist, if alive, Zombie if dead).
Current listings are as follows:
Alive-Civilian/Military/Scientist, alive description/class tree Slain-Civilian/Military/Scientist, alive description/class tree Undead-Zombie, zombie description/class tree Dead Zombie-Zombie, zombie description/class tree Reviving-Civilian/Military/Scientist, alive description/class tree
SUGGESTED CHANGE:
Slain-Zombie, zombie description/class tree
Reason-When you’re reviving, you’re reverting to life, and your profile changes to that, even though you’re not fully functioning and standing up yet. Well, if you get killed, you’re reverting to zombie state, so your profile should be changed to reflect that as well as soon as you get killed. This is basically a logic flaw fix.

- Keep with a change - for freshly slain survivors, do NOT show the number of times they have died until they stand up as a zombie. Currently the situation is the reverse; you can see how many times they died, but they look as a civilian. With this change, you can still tell recently killed survivors from those killed zombies (by looking at profiles) but you also get more "up to date" info on your contacts page and on the stats page. Swiers 01:07, 5 May 2008 (BST)
- Keep - I like it.--Jamie Cantwel3 Talk 02:29, 5 May 2008 (BST)
- Keep it, and put life insurance on it to prevent it from being killed - This is an excellent idea. For those who don't understand, essentially he's saying that when you are killed, the listing for you on other people's contact lists would show you as being a zombie, instead of still showing you as alive. If you are revived, it will show you as being a human type (civilian, military, scientist) on their contact lists, instead of still showing you as a zombie. Plus apparently God said so, and I don't feel like disagreeing with God. --Tselita 08:01, 5 May 2008 (BST)

- Keep - So basically you want profiles of killed characters (civilian -> dead body) to reflect that of being a zombie? Okay that makes a sensible fix, albeit a hard-to-read one. ~Ariedartin • Talk • A KS J abt all 15:48, 6 May 2008 (BST)

- keep - voting keep because the system is not fine as is, and because many of the kill voters don't know how to spell kill. They're spelling it 'against'. What's next, aye and nay? Are we congress now? --Katsman 23:44, 11 May 2008 (BST)
- Keep - The current system is a horrible hack (I assume it works the way it does to stop you saving up 100XP until you're eaten, then buying Ankle Grab before standing up.) I'd rather the profile didn't reveal (to your contacts on the other side of the city) that you'd been killed, but since it does it should say whether you'll be alive or dead when you stand up, because that's the state you'll be in when you make your next move. --Explodey 20:06, 12 May 2008 (BST)

- Against - Makes little sense. I don't see anything wrong with the current system. There are two states of death but is it really important to adress them on the profile?!? This is just kinda petty Zig13 - 6/05/2008 at 10:49(BST)
- Re: I replied under Vandurn.--Kolechovski 16:23, 6 May 2008 (BST)
- Kill - Author obviously fails at the very logic he's saying he's trying to correct. A dead body is not a zombie, otherwise all your dead grandparents would class as zombies and I could hit them with an axe. Also a revivifying body isn't a civilian either for the same reason. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 19:08, 6 May 2008 (BST)
- Kill - A survivor's corpse is of a dead survivor until he/she animates and stands up as a zombie. A zombie's corpse is of a dead zombie until he/she gets up and reveals that he/she is really a survivor. That make sense? --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™ 00:42, 7 May 2008 (BST)
- RE: The change I'm suggesting is for survivors to change to Zombie the moment they die, just as how zombies change to survivor the moment revived.--Kolechovski 02:50, 13 May 2008 (BST)
- I understand why you are doing it, but it's technically wrong. When a survivor dies, it goes to the dead survivor page as they are the corpse of a survivor. When a zombie is revived, their body is rejuvenated to a living state that is indistinguishable from other survivor corpses, save for a tell-tale smell that zombies can learn to distinguish. --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™ 01:02, 14 May 2008 (BST)
