Movie Posters (and other decoration)
Timestamp: | Jon Pyre 07:47, 14 April 2007 (BST) |
Type: | Item/Improvement |
Scope: | Survivors, and zombies lucky enough to break indoors |
Description: | Artwork is nice. Makes any safehouse pretty. Gives something to search museums for, if you've got AP to spare. But sometimes you want to decorate without getting quite that classy. Howabout adding movie posters as findable items in cinemas? For example:
Other decorative ideas include motivational posters in offices buildings: "...a "Perserverance" themed poster showing a salmon swimming upstream" Targets in armories: "...a human shaped paper cutout with concentric bullseye circles" Disco balls in clubs: "...a sparkling mirrored disco ball hung from the ceiling" Flowers from parks: "..."a bouquet of cut violets" And beer signs in bars: "a metal sign advertising a stout Irish beer" |

- Keep - Let's hear it for informal decoration. Classical art is nice but it doesn't always match the decor. --Jon Pyre 07:47, 14 April 2007 (BST)

FLASKS
Timestamp: | Jakey07 11:22, 14 April 2007 (BST) |
Type: | Item for survivors |
Scope: | Who/what it affects |
Description: | This is a suggestion for the implementation of flasks. This is mostly for flavor but can be used in the game. They would act just like the already existing beverages (restore 1hp per drink) but they would last for more than one drink. also, they cannot be shared with other survivors and each 1hp drink must be taken seperatly. The number of drinks you can take from a flask will be listed with the flask type. Plus you can refill them. You can refill them at streets (it can be assumed the survivor breaks into a house on that street and fills it up from a tap in a kitchen etc) at the cost of 1 AP and fills the flask up to the maximum capacity. This will appear on the main screen when on a street. It would read something like 'fill up flask from house'. The same thing can be done with pubs (when inside using beer etc) and parks (using the local fountain) Also there should be several types of flask to increase the flavor so there could be:

- Keep - This would be a good FAK-alternative if you are in a Salted suburb, or one where all the Malls and Hospitals are gone.--Canuhearmenow Hunt! 16:06, 14 April 2007 (BST)
- Keep - this will not replace FAKs or diminish the usefulness of Medical classes as some people seem to think. Seriously, which would you take, potential 15 hp, possible 10 hp, and definite 5 hp heal for 1 AP or 4 hp for 5 AP? Nobody's going to waste that much AP healing unless they really need the health, doesn't have a FAK, and there's no one around him or her with a FAK. Edit: Oh, and I don't believe this cures infections?--Storyteller 17:46, 14 April 2007 (BST)
- Keep - I'm not in love with it, but I can't see much harm. Humans heal over time, so it's not all bad; and they have to go out into a street to find the water, it's not like they can do it in a secure location. A bit dull, but not unbalanced. --S.WiersctdpNTmapx:oo 18:19, 14 April 2007 (BST)
- Keep I think I have 58hp in game right now. It's annoying to spend a whole FAK on a scratch. I normally just keep the wound until I get more injured or someone heals me for xp. A flask like this would be a nice way of filling out those piddling 1 or 2hp injuries. --Jon Pyre 18:48, 14 April 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes
- Kill - Nice idea. But it means that nobody will ever run out of healing if they have AP spare. --Black Mask. 15:13, 14 April 2007.
- Kill - Not needed, not interesting -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 15:43, 14 April 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Absolutely not. Everyone gets plastic container very shortly, and can then heal 4HP for 5AP wherever they happen to be. This not only makes FAKs and Hospitals useless, it makes all medical skills and character classes useless. It's not a terrible idea in itself, it just removes a large part of the playing experience. No. EDIT: to back up my statement re FAKs, it takes an average of 7ap to search in a hospital for a FAK, thus 8AP overall; thus 5HP/8AP = .625, as opposed to 0.8 with a plastic container; thus untrained the FAK is actually worse, plus you don't have to go to hospital. With skill, this is raised to 1.25, thus an FAK with skill is only 50% better than a plastic container, plus you have to go to hospitals and get them; thus it is hard to see why anyone would go to the trouble of going to a hospital for a FAK. Numbers are better for malls with skills, but still don't overcome the huge advantage flasks have that you never have to go to a specific building and search. --Oppenharpo. 14:52, 14 April 2007.
- Kill -Not terrible but also not needed, not interesting, nor usefull.-- Vista 17:55, 14 April 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Not needed --Duke Garland 20:11, 14 April 2007 (BST)
- Kill - I'm somewhat concerned about the amount of HP recovered vs. the encumbrance of the flasks. It needs to be worked out so the flasks don't nerf faks. --T 21:20, 14 April 2007 (BST)
- Change - Alone, these flasks have too low a search rate to have nerfing power, but being able to refill them at any given street gives the item too much power. Besides, in this point in the outbreak the water systems will have shut down, with nobody to run the water department, and even if the water was still flowing, all of the filth and rotting bodies would have made the aquafier for the tap water toxic and undrinkable. Make the flasks disposable after the drinks run out and I'll change my vote. -Nibiletz 20:55, 15 April 2007 (BST)
- Re: okay, so if the water systems have been shut down, how are people ment to live. also looking from that kind of perspective, they have no food either and besides, its a game where you shoot zombies. that is not realistic either.
- I don't like making already existing items even MORE useless. Oh, and you can't share stuff in game anyway.--Pesatyel 05:04, 16 April 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Filling up anywhere on the street doesn't make sense. Also, there does seem to be balance issues. --Gm0n3y 19:10, 17 April 2007 (BST)

Shaun Disciple/Cricket Bat Proficiency
Timestamp: | Tryce of Thunder 22:47, 14 April 2007 (BST) |
Type: | Skill+Flavor text change |
Scope: | Survivors and zombies being headshotted |
Description: | You have watched Shaun of the Dead thousands of times, and have spent an obscene number of hours analyzing how Shaun swung his cricket bat. You now know just how to swing it so it does the most damage.
Upon getting the skill, your Cricket Bat accuracy increases by 15%, and any time you headshot a zombie, it gets a different flavor text: "You took a Headshot from [Insert name here] the Shaun Impersonator! You need to spend an extra 5AP to stand up." You could replace "Impersonator" with "Fanboy/Fangirl, and change it so upon buying the skill, you are presented with the option of having the flavor text "Fanboy" or "Fangirl". This can be changed at any time. For those who don't get the joke, "Shaun Impersonater/Fanboy/Fangirl would link to a short page(on UD) that quickly explains this comes from "Shaun of the Dead", a movie that pokes fun at other zombie movies, and that the main character (Shaun) used a cricket bat to combat them. This text will be followed by a picture or pictures that show Shaun wielding or hitting zombies with the cricket bat. And yes, this is meant to be a serious suggestion. EDIT: I've made a single edit ONLY to fix spelling errors, and this was done before any votes(besides my own) were made. Check the time stamp. Tryce of Thunder 22:54, 14 April 2007 (BST) |

- Kill maybe make a skill that boasts all the new weapons instead of just one.--Blood Panther 23:09, 14 April 2007 (BST)
- Re - But this couldn't really be applied to the other weapons, because the cricket bat is a clear referance to Shaun of the Dead, and I don't see any other weapons that do that. Besides, that would get shot down, because it'd just be "I'm giving the new weapons good accuracy because they should." Which would just get spammed with "Pointless survivor buff".Tryce of Thunder 00:29, 15 April 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Way, way out of genre, and also rather unfair. What about all the Resident Evil fans? Do they get to play as a giant shark? Or what about Star Wars fans? Do they get to find blaster thingies in certain buildings? Oh, don't forget about all the Citizen Kane fans...they could find rosebud sleds in mansions!--Lachryma☭ 00:39, 15 April 2007 (BST)
- Re - "Way, way out of genre" you say? First off, Shaun of the Dead is a zombie apocalypse movie. That doesn't sound out of genre to me. Second, it has been hinted at several times-and with the recent addition of the cricket bat, nearly confirmed-that Malton is somewhere in England. And your shark comparison(along with the blaster one and rosebud sleds) don't make sense. Tryce of Thunder 00:52, 15 April 2007 (BST)

- Kill - What about a magical hat that adds "Santa killz0red u!!!" to the end of a kill message? 'Cause that makes as much sense as your 'ol suggestion here. --Cap'n Silly T/W/P/C 11:48, 15 April 2007 (BST)
- Kill -Hehehee..No. The Czarina says it best. -Nibiletz 21:03, 15 April 2007 (BST)
- Kill Sounds funny now, but in a couple of months of it being implemented, it's going to get realy boring. Seventythree
- Kill - As Grigori and Lach said (although being a Star Wars fan myself, I think it would be fun to have blasters in the game. After all, we already have clone troopers, don't we? :p ) --Specialist290 ♠♥♣♦ 06:59, 16 April 2007 (BST)
