Contact List
Suggestion description
Here's something I really want. Often when I see someone attack an ally, or heal myself, I want to add them to my contacts list and color them by the categorization I've invented. Adding them to my contacts isn't hard, just two clicks, one to open their profile and another to add them. Coloring them is annoying though, I have to browse through my entire list and find their name. When you have a large number of contacts, as I do, this can take a bit of time despite being alphabetically organized. It just takes time to scroll down and select a color. This is especially time consuming if you want to add several people and color them differently.
When you see someone perform an action it puts a bullet point next to their name like so:
- Bill healed for 10 hp.
I suggest making that bullet point itself, that one dot, a link. Clicking on it would open a small pop-up window with just the players name, level #, description, group, a choice of colors, and an Add to Contacts button. No list of skills. Clicking Add to Contacts makes the small pop-up display "Name was added to your contacts" and then after one second the pop-up would close on its own if the player doesn't click it shut first. All this is possible with simple html.
Basically this suggestion is asking for a mini-profile that you can quickly browse through and add to contacts without closing your main window or having to switch between a bunch of tabs. And if you like things the way they are you can just click on their profile name instead and do this as currently. The only difference you'd notice is that the bullet point dot next to profile links would be pink instead of gray like other bullet points.

Keep Votes
- Author I'd find this very useful, as I'm sure anyone would that makes active use of their contact list and adds people frequently. There's no reason to oppose it even if you don't want to use pop-ups. It's just the color difference of a dot. --Jon Pyre 15:28, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- POPUPS doesn't = SPAM –- UCFSD 16:55, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Not sure I like the format, but the basic idea is sound. Given the pace of updates, this likely would be a good project for somebody who likes to code extensions. Some extensions already offer contact adding as a link on the main game page, and this could be an "upgrade" to such a feature. Swiers 18:44, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep I like. ----Secruss|Yak|Brahnz!|CGR|PKA||EMLN|Templates|RRF|RFTM|Crap|WHOZ||MU|GN|C2008||19:27, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep- Unless someone makes me a Greasemonky script that does the same thing, I vote keep. --Darth LumisT! A! E! SR 00:38, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - I have the same problem, there must be 40 people on my contacts list --Anti Gorefest5TMW!B! 08:36, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep I'm not sure how many are on my list. I got PKers, GKers, RKers, BR Zombies, my Group, a few allies, and I also put Zerg on my contacts list... ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 17:46, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Provided it can be turned off. --Pgunn 20:16, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- keep - useful and simple. --WanYao 10:37, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- keep - The worst is that you might have to spend 2 seconds to close the popup. In a turn based game. --Raynor16 22:46, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

- HATE POPUPS - Since when are bullet points linkable? --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 15:48, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Re Just use a circle character that looks the same and make it a link. Simple. Pop-ups aren't annoying. Unwated pop-ups that get in your way are annoying. This is not an ad. --Jon Pyre 15:50, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

- Kill - Above. -- AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 18:41, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - I'm used to "right click", "open in new tab". Anytime I do that on a popup, I get something I wasn't expecting, or nothing at all, then I have to figure out what went wrong and then (left) click the link again. I don't like when that happens, it wastes my time. Don't make this game do that. --Ms.Panes 06:02, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - Pop-ups? Really? Sheana/Gogolnik (T HD-T TMZ) 06:29, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- Kill/Change - How about using some javascript instead? –Ariedartin Talk 05:36, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- Spam - Annoying spam that adds nothing to the game or the interface beyond the possibilities of accidental clicks and highlights spamming your screen with popups. Oh, and the Contacts list is sortable by order, so use that if you're looking for someone in particular, don't make being lazy sound like a problem. --Karekmaps?! 15:35, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Re' Let's say you see five people you want to add to your contacts list. Bill attacks you, Sam and Ben heal you, Seth gives some good information, and Gwen says that she's in your group. Your labeling system is red for PKers, Green for people that help you, Black for anyone you want to notice, and you make everyone in your own group yellow. At a minimum this would require opening all five profile pages while keeping your original window open as to not lose the messages, clicking the add to contacts button on each page, closing the contact page four times, then browsing through dozens of people to color everyone their own shade. Why is this unwieldy system better than just CLICK, COLOR, ADD, DONE? --Jon Pyre 15:49, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Re You're doing the exact same thing, except pop up blockers will catch that, it's called Tabbed browsing and is standard in web browsers now, claiming this suggestion makes anything easier is a falsity, it makes it harder, especially for IE or Firefox users who make up something like 90% of the internet. Oh, and there's always Extensions, one is already made for Firefox that adds a + button next to names to add them to contacts, I'm sure if you contact it's writer you could talk him into making a version of it for IE. --Karekmaps?! 15:58, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

- POPUPS! – As in: spam. No, thank you. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾᚨᚾᛏ 16:14, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Spam - No thank you indeed. See Karek and others above for reasons why this is a dumb idea. As well, this suggestion is very close to other suggestions that you have made regarding extra tabs or windows. Enough already --Ryiis 16:21, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Re Huh? Which? --Jon Pyre 16:41, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Re - I can't seem to find the one I was making reference to, though I did find this one that you did relatively recently. It's not exactly like this, so I retract my previous statment about this being "close" to other suggestions you have made. However, in my search, I did find this that seems a lot like this current suggestion - making me wonder if I shouldn't have voted Dupe. If I find the suggestions that I was making reference to, I will post them in the Discussion page of this suggestion --Ryiis 17:09, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Re Huh? Which? --Jon Pyre 16:41, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Accessibility - each link in an interface should have a text equivalent - you don't seem to have addressed this issue when thinking of making bullet points clickable. Also, people don't expect bullets points to be clickable, so they shouldn't be. Basic usability principles for HCI/web design. (Pop-ups could be generated using a script, so that they don't involve a new window, but you can see from the current interface, it doesn't do clever shiznit with scripts.) --Funt Solo QT 16:49, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Spam - popups? are you serious? Please, stop making suggestions, Jon --~~~~ [talk] 17:16, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Spam - what? i'm speachless, really. you just lazy and making me agry.--Jack13 18:32, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Spam - Argh Popups! Don't Find New Ways to do Old Things. This canm easily be done by opeining up new tabs for each profile. This takes hardly any tome at all, with the added benefit of seeing their profile, level and skills. This is merely a useless annoyance. You are scraping the varnish off the bottom of the barrel now. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 19:52, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Spam - I hate anything that would get in the way of the already spartan inteface. Besides, wouldn't that require some javascript, which would slow the whole thing down? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 21:22, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Spam If I did not spam this, I would not be true to myself...MOAR HATZ NOT MOAR POPUPS!!! --Happy doodle 08:59, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Spam - Seriously, no pop-ups, i hate them. They annoy me greatly and i think ona firefox extension there's a little plus sign next to a persons name which means you can dd them on that. And that has no pop-ups! Acoustic Pie 18:23, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- This could be trouble to people with pop-up blocking programs, like me, who have no freakin' idea how to deactivate them. (I know how to deactivate mine. I'm talking about other people.) --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 11:26, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
