Light Switch Suggestion
I am considering a revision of the current Light Switch proposal currently being voted on. What is the procedure for amending said idea? Tarumigan Ackland Mall Security Tarumigan
Damn man. Funt is good at this dupe finding stuff.
Aye, well - I wrote the Fallback suggestion, so that one was easy. Under the old suggestion system, I used to cycle the suggestions on a daily basis, and I reorganised the whole Peer Reviewed page. That stuff's ingrained in me, for better or for worse. --Funt Solo QT 15:14, 3 June 2008 (BST)
- Possibly a wee bit too much in the way of spare time on your hands there? :P -- Cheese 15:39, 3 June 2008 (BST)
- It was that or studying. Easy choice. --Funt Solo QT 16:32, 3 June 2008 (BST)
- Fair point. :P I've spent most of my study leave on here. Much more fun than revising. -- Cheese 16:38, 3 June 2008 (BST)
- I have got to learn how to find dupes without relying on Iscariot (and apparently Funt as well now) for when I make my next suggestion. --Tselita 16:40, 3 June 2008 (BST)
- Easy peasy. Run a search in the Suggestion and Main namespaces for keywords from your suggestion. That should find most of them. -- Cheese 16:42, 3 June 2008 (BST)
- I always wind up finding a bunch of stuff that has nothing to do with suggestions at all. I should just read through every past suggestion instead. :) --Tselita 17:06, 3 June 2008 (BST)

Mock Suggestions
Is there something you can do about DrPain, Gardenator and Zaphod Beeblebrox with the mock suggestions? Please do not tell me that any of their suggestions or comments are legitimate. DrPain with his antisemitic remarks, Gardenator making two talk:discussion suggestions obvious to try to bully me, and Zaphod Beeblebrox making one to bully DrPain (and I do feel he deserves it but the Talk:Suggestions place isn't the place for it - it's going to spam up the whole page at this rate)
Can you either delete those three, put it in overflow or maybe have a section for humorous talk:discussion suggestions? And in case anyone says Windex should be a humorous suggestion, I legitimately suggested both of them (and one of which was almost the same as Pruning). I'm probably not going through with Windex only because it's so similar to Pruning, and I'm on the fence about the Decorations one. Neither of those suggestions have been made to MOCK another user though, unlike Gardenator's (and Zaphod Beeblebrox's)
In addition, I've been having to deal with DrPain continually commenting on even my votes, even on other people's suggestions, where it's not HIS suggestion that he's re'ing too. I'd really like someone to finally do something about it because sysops like Nubis clearly won't (being a self-declared Goon himself) This behavior is becoming more and more infantile. --Tselita 18:29, 3 June 2008 (BST)

Polite Spam Request
Hi KM/Cheese. I just wanted to draw your attention to item 4 of the Spam removal guidelines, where it requests that you "be Polite and make no additional comments". I noticed in your removal of a recent suggestion that you said "Nuked!" as the edit text and "lots of loverly tasty spam votes" in the Spam template.
Please, don't do that kind of thing: it's bad enough all the comments that get made in Spam votes, and bad enough that someone has their suggestion shot down, without the removal edits also adding insult to injury. Especially from a sysop, I just don't think it's a good move. --Funt Solo QT 09:34, 5 June 2008 (BST)

I am merely here to post the warning that was supposed to be issued upon the resolution of your A/VB case here, which was ruled on, finally, by Nubis on the 1st of June, bringing the results to 3 vandalism, 2 not vandalism (With Hagnats not vandalism struck as it was ruled as misconduct). The warning has been backdated to the day Nubis ruled, the 1st of July. Anyhoo, do not strike the votes of other users unless they are sock puppets, mm'kay. --The Grimch U! E! You do realise that the suggestion hasn't been implemented at all? The text may have changed, but the AP cost remains the same. The suggestion specifically tries to make this a free action. Now go and fix the suggestion and put it back into the under voting category.
It's not like we discussed this on the talk page or anything.... -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 18:42, 19 June 2008 (BST)
- Implemented, along with a few other items that were still giving unhelpful default responses. Thanks. --Kevan 17:26, 19 June 2008 (BST) - If the big guy says its implemented, then there is very little point in voting continuing. Regardless of whether it costs an Action Point or not, the suggestion has achieved what it set out to do. Don't like it? Then go moan to Kevan. Don't come onto my talk page making demands. -- Cheese 18:47, 19 June 2008 (BST)
- Iscariot makes a valid point cheese. Only part of it has been implimented, as i can attest having just tested it myself. The rest of the suggestion is still undone. Im reverting it. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 18:56, 19 June 2008 (BST)

Ignoring Gardenator
I'd be happy to ignore him, if he'd stop respond-posting on every single post I make anywhere on the wiki. What did I say on Kevan's page that merited his response like that anyway? --Tselita 01:18, 24 June 2008 (BST)
- You don't need to respond back though do you? Just ignore him completely. The reason they are making posts like that is because you're rising to their bait. Just completely ignore it. Don't respond to it in anyway. They'll get bored eventually and move on. -- Cheese 01:21, 24 June 2008 (BST)
- It doesn't work. For the last week I hadn't been responding to anything they said, and it didn't deter them, it just means they increases the amount of harassment done. Seriously, what did I write on Kevan's page worth his making the snippy retort? That I fixed a building for 20AP? And I responded by saying WHY I was fixing it for 20AP, for several good reasons. --Tselita 01:25, 24 June 2008 (BST)
- There's no point even responding civilly. You'll still get flamed. Just ride it out and wait for them to move on. Someone else'll become worthy soon enough methinks. Plenty of drama around these days. -- Cheese 01:27, 24 June 2008 (BST)
- Bullies (especially ones who are not at risk of getting punched in the face, like internet bullies) tend to not 'move on' until their targets finally crack, but your point is well made and understood. --Tselita 01:40, 24 June 2008 (BST)

Thankyou
For your recent contributions in attempt to clean up ALiM. God knows it needs it.--CyberRead240 15:52, 24 June 2008 (BST)
- It really does. I don't think it helps that you, Nick and Jed are all from Oz. As a result, you guys all see things in your version of English. Therefore, there are differences between what might seem funny to you guys and what might seem funny to other English speakers from the US or from the UK in my case. So to get the list to seem a useful and amusing part of the wiki, you need to have folk from different places giving their input. That why you get an overall funniness rather than just funny to one particular area.
- I'm not saying what you've got so far is bad, far from it. Quite a lot of it is very good. But there are a few too many cock jokes and misinterpretations that aren't really deserving of their place there. I'll keep looking for more stuff that can get rechecked though. -- Cheese 16:14, 24 June 2008 (BST)
- The problem is, the list and idea have such potential that wont get reached unless people decide to join in, which you are doing now. Also, I will be the first to tell you that I have had my gripes with the auto-inclusion of anything with "cock" in it. Sometimes it is the building type that makes the name funny. (ie Cake Walk, Heming Way, Broke Bank etc). So yeah, I am anti-cock jokes for sure. Please continue to put locations up for review though, we need to weed out the crap.--CyberRead240 16:21, 24 June 2008 (BST)

Maybe a little bit of collaboration with them could bring out the true potential. Yes, but I don't see the same thing happening to groups like RRF.
Plus, TFN is not news about only the fortress. We mainly do malton and other news, while keeping one article about each squad that gets replaced every 2 months or so. So putting the name as The Fortress/News isn't what is applicable.
- Looks like the solution Cheese found works for everyone? Most groups actually do have their pages either start as Group Name/Page name, or get moved there. I've been working my way through the ones that don't, but it takes time. --PdeqTalk* 01:45, 16 July 2008 (BST)

Warning?
Was that an official warning you put on our talk page? For changing a heading on a discussion on our own talk page? Especially since the section is a discourse, we suspect we have the right to redefine it on our own talkpage anyway we like, surely? It's not as if anyone would think Blackboard would put that heading on themselves.... we'd like to argue for a removal of this warning, if it is of an official nature. Especially in the light of the editor you are defending adding their own insulting heading to our entry on their talk page, (which, admitedly, we changed) and the whole discussion centering around the user in question and their abuse of the location of the group we represent on the West Boundwood listing --Crabappleslegalteam 01:27, 1 August 2008 (BST)
- It is an official warning. And yes for changing the header on your own page. Precedent rules in this case as it has happened before several times. The warning stands I'm afraid. And if you provide a diff link for this other editor doing the same I will quite happily pursue the matter further in their case. -- Cheese 01:30, 1 August 2008 (BST)

- As a word of explanation... the first post ever on my Talk page was from Crabappleslegalteam and was utterly header-less. In the interest of fairness, I didn't specify any guidelines for posting there, but I thought it was reasonable to label and organize it at my discretion. It was not meant to be specifically pejorative; we were engaging in mutual whingy nonsense. If that warrants a warning, that's fine; new or not, it's my responsibility to act according to guidelines. I do, however, feel it was inappropriate for Crabappleslegalteam to change not only the original header I had on their page, but ALSO the header I put on MY page. Can I change it back without being penalized, or is there a formal process I have to follow? Or, if it was illegal in the first place, could I put some sort of neutral formatting in the interest of organization? Thanks! Blackboard 03:14, 1 August 2008 (BST)
- As you can see, even the so-called 'wronged party' appears to be surprised by your judgement. Is there literally a rule in which no-one is allowed to change a heading created by anyone else? This was a heading over a discussion on our user page - henceforth, it was no longer the representation of anybodies thoughts. As admitted, it was in retaliation for our own statement being attributed a similar heading on the other users page..... creating a heading and editing a heading above a discussion started by whoever is to do the same thing. Furthermore, anybody looking into the situation can see that these discussions revolve around Blackboard moving a group heading from survivor heading to Pker heading, therefore changing the representation of a group in a very public space against that groups will, and against evidence, and ignoring our own warning regarding report of group listing misuse. That we duly reported such gross misconduct, and that a warning was still withheld in the hope the situation resolves itself, and yet that we recieve an official warning over casual interpretation of rules, is galling. Official warnings should not be thrown around so arbitrarily, especially when there is no conflict regarding such headings, and especially when there is no attempt at subterfuge - in the end, we consider this an unjust ruling, and appeal that the sentence be revoked, your honour--Crabappleslegalteam 00:05, 2 August 2008 (BST)
- Actually, didn't Blackboard amend it again, to which we did nothing? If that's so, this mark on our record is therefore even more unjust!--Crabappleslegalteam 00:10, 2 August 2008 (BST)
- The issue is one of attributing commentary to a user falsely, the header issue comes up because headers are usually made by the commenting user and often are part of or related to the comments being made(for example if I made a header called "X user bitching" it provides different meaning than if x user made that header.) That being said it's not a common type of case and isn't so straight forward. You might be best off trying to talk it out with Cheeseman and/or Blackboard and try to work out some sort of agreement or compromise, the fact that neither one of you were the ones reporting it might help the your case if neither one of you really mind the changes made by the other one.--Karekmaps?! 09:25, 2 August 2008 (BST)

linethrough the heading was adequate, as it showed a sort of mutual vandalism - and really, who else is going to read it but us? And for the record Crabs, you're right - I didn't complain about it. In the immortal words of The Dude - "You're not wrong, Walter, you're not WRONG..." and I prefer to resolve things on my own. And, we did. Basically, all I want to know is whether or not I can change the header on my page. Crabs, any opinions on this? And remember, the rug (er, the warning you received) is not this issue here, dude. Blackboard 15:09, 2 August 2008 (BST)- As far as we can remember, in the past people used to have far more control over their own user talk pages than this - anyway, the heading changing is, forgive the pun, small change compared to the initial issue, or any other issue that actually does warrant something as serious as an official warning - Blackboards not bothered, we're not bothered (incientally, Blackboard, on top of everything else, you've just used 2 terms for us which mark you as a likely proxy for a member of MAF, on top of everything else.... and we're not the Crabapples - we're their lawyers!). Sysop business
When you warn a user you absolutely must update the individuals Vandal Data. You are not doing it, and this just crews up the system. You are damn lucky i caught it in this instance. But I should also say this...To have your vandal warning struck, you need to meet some special conditions...I think it was 200 contributive posts to this wiki since the warning. I think... --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:35, 15 September 2008 (BST)
- I had made the requirements back in June/July before I took my unannounced break from the wiki Axe. And I'm not pushing - I'm just letting them know since the A/VB page states that I should ask them to remove it when the qualifications are met. Lets face it - after I had gotten the vandal warning and before i took my break I was posting a ton. The only thing that hadn't been met yet was the time limit, which has now definitely been met. ;) Nice to talk to you again btw Axe. Missed ya. Work's still busy though. - hehe I'm pretty sure that the templates alone are a good quarter or more of the 200 posts, plus the template request posts back and forth to people, the suggestion voting, and the suggestions and discussion on suggestions. And the talk on the Deletions page during that whole Template business. --Tselita 17:35, 16 September 2008 (BST)

Master Template PoN
From my talk page:
Here's what I've come up with: Template:PlayOnName. All you need to do is replace the bits in bold with the bits you've got. -- Cheese 21:48, 10 July 2008 (BST)
- Is it okay if, since you designed that for me to help in giving out Play On Name templates to the adoring and not-so-adoring masses, I edit it a bit to look more like the rest of the template's formats? (I like the whole red on black look - don't want to get accused of plagerizing again or anything like that) And is there an easy way to alter the size of each PoN template in the master template you made? I tend to vary the sizes of the templates in relation to the shape of the picture. Thanks --Tselita 17:40, 17 September 2008 (BST)
Cheeseman, just need to know if I can edit the Play On Names master template a bit (color, mainly, I like red on black) so I can start using it a bit? Thanks --Tselita 14:23, 19 September 2008 (BST)

PS - of which do you consider yourself to be on the side? Jesus hates zombies? Or Jesus IS a zombie? It's for an informal poll I'm taking. --Tselita 14:28, 20 September 2008 (BST)
- Sorted. :) You can now manually set the colours using the variables: headercolor (the colour of the header text) and maincolor (the colour of the main text). On the Jesus question. He is in a state where is he is both and at the same time, neither. Like a dual naturist. But more complicated and holy. And he has a nice beard. -- Cheese 18:16, 20 September 2008 (BST)
- That's an awesome answer about the poll question. And thanks for the master template. That works great :)

UZM Zombie Portal
Hi Krazy, I created that as I intend to replace the current UZM page with it as soon as it can be redirected, not to circumvent anything. It takes the 'united' term out of the mix which is what barhah.com is having fits about. I take you'd prefer if I waited?
