Those images

Bwah. We need a "popular images" category, and send people there before they upload an image... problem is, it'll probably be full of these bloody things ;) -- boxy talkteh rulz 12:51 8 August 2009 (BST)

Yeah, and as is the norm, no one will bother checking before they upload what is probably 50th image of Biohazard's Umbrella logo that is on the wiki. --ϑϑ 13:24, 8 August 2009 (BST)

i do see minor edits in rc.--xoxo 05:09, 9 August 2009 (BST)

Ah gonna play the ol' i don't understand you card, uninteresting choice. P.S can you strike me? I've earned myself annudda one. --xoxo 10:43, 9 August 2009 (BST)
If you are talking about my edits being minor recently, [1]. Hagnat complained that it would fill up recent changes so I made all edits minor while I was fixing Conndraka's fuck up. As for a strike, you don't actually have any warnings to strike at the moment. --ϑϑ 10:54, 9 August 2009 (BST)
It turns out you actually do. Sorry, long day. However, I struck you on the 14th ([2]). Sorry, you'll have to wait a few days before I can strike you again. --ϑϑ 11:56, 9 August 2009 (BST)
I get a striking a month. So 2 strikes after 2 months. It's been 2 months. I shouldn't be punished because i have to request a striking and wait for someone else to do it.--xoxo 13:53, 9 August 2009 (BST)
You get a striking one month after your last strike. You were struck on the 14th. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 13:54, 9 August 2009 (BST)
DDR speaks the truth Cyberbob  Talk  13:55, 9 August 2009 (BST)
So if all ops refuse to strike me thats cool? The case has always been it didn't matter if the physical strike wasn't there provided the grounds for having a strike had been met. I earned a strike on the 9th, so i'll earn another one on the 9th (assuming edits are met)--xoxo 13:58, 9 August 2009 (BST)
Yeah it is cool, provided your aren't legible to be struck as per the guidelines, which you aren't. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 14:01, 9 August 2009 (BST)
Keep on following the exact letter of the guidelines rather than bothering with what it actually meant. --xoxo 14:04, 9 August 2009 (BST)
Keep out of trouble for 5 days and it will have made no difference. Think you can manage it? --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 14:07, 9 August 2009 (BST)
Fuck no. And you well know it's the principle of the matter. If it was your vandalism you could strike it on the day, i have to wait for someone to bother to strike it. And they can just refuse if they like. Which is fucked. The next person to try that one i do plan on A/Ming :P --xoxo 14:17, 9 August 2009 (BST)
Fine by me, I agree that valid strikes shouldn't be refused. But for now, wait 5 days or go to someone else and see if they want to ghost the guidelines for you, because I'll tell you something right now. I have no intention of sidestepping the guidelines for anyone, lest my supposed ex-clique-buttbuddy-partner-in-crime, sorry. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 14:30, 9 August 2009 (BST)
Since when has any sysop outright refused to strike an escalation when the requirements have been met? Also can I just say how faggoty that passive-aggressive ":P" smiley is? Cyberbob  Talk  14:21, 9 August 2009 (BST)
I grant you my permission to say how faggoty it is. Also i forget who it was. I think SA, i asked on his talk and he said "Oh i don't go on that page" or something. Might have been karek actually. I didn't complain coz by the time i'd logged on someone else has already got it, perhaps boxy.--xoxo 14:24, 9 August 2009 (BST)

Well if it happens again - and assuming that the requirements have actually been met - I would say it's definitely worth at least a mention on the A/VB talk page. It's not something that I can see being worthy of an A/M case 90% of the time but it shouldn't happen. Cyberbob  Talk  14:34, 9 August 2009 (BST)

This needs to be addressed...

I really need something addressed. I'm tired of the way people are treating each other, constantly belittling each other here. It has got to stop. Frankly, I'd assume that the Five Pillars of Wikipedia would apply here. If not, something needs to be implemented similar to that.

I don't much appreciate being talked to like I was by I'm a motherfuckin' lyrical wordsmith motherfuckin' genius! here,... Or general subject matter contained here. I can deal with minor cursing, and being put down to an extent.... but seriously, I've had enough of the abuse. I'd appreciate someone putting some sort of limitation on how far it can go. -Poodle of doom 01:51, 13 August 2009 (BST)

Stop running around and crying to mummy and daddy sysops about being picked on and fucking do something about it yourself, maybe you will get some respect by having a well thought out policy or a nice slick argument back at one of us, rather than crying to the nearest (see:all) sysop whenever someone says a naughty word. There is no civility policy on this wiki, they have every right to say what they are saying. The thing is, 90% of the abusing comments on the deletions votes were not personal attacks but only in response to the tameness of the deletions case. As for Read and co, they are shitstirrers and are looking for a reaction from their behaviour, your responsibility is to stop giving it to them.

As for DCC's comment on the open discussion, DCC notoriously swears a lot and it is 100% within his right.

Basically, as per Jed and Read, there's nothing the admin can do to help you or enforce your wishes. It isn't because we are bad sysops, or we like to see this happen, but because the structure of the wiki prevents us from having any authority in stopping user X saying user Y is gay. As for the 5 pillars, a majority of them don't apply to UDWiki at all, namely in this case the fact we don't have a Code of Conduct. The best you can do is to go to arbitration and request something that necessitates your wishes. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 05:43, 13 August 2009 (BST)

Urban dead has become boring now

I think it is due to the sameness that occurs over time. Nothing ever changes, it's just more of the same. Kill zombies, get killed by pkers, kill humans. It never changes. Do you agree is my question. Aka Paradox 01:55, 15 August 2009 (BST)

I've been playing for just over 2 years and at one point, yes, I thought the game had become boring. I think the game can only become boring if you expect too much from it. I won't go through a history lesson, but when I got bored with the game, I just tried new things. Being a brain rotted human, leading groups, travelling and organising games like manhunts. At the moment I'm with a couple of groups who co-ordinate over IRC and hence it has a fun, welcome, social point to it. When I found UD got boring I just played it more casually, and it worked that way. To play UD you have to be prepared to fight for something, and when a suburb is green and it's surrounding suburbs are as such, there isn't much to fight for, only to stay for. They aren't the same thing.
As for the balance of the game and its structure, I do think that something's wrong. A battle hasn't happened since Kevan introduced cade-blocking and de-centralised malls with the FAKs, which I don't like because I enjoyed being with a massive brethren fighting against the biggest horde there was to offer. Kevan's changed the game over time so it can serve more as a zombie apocalypse, which is great, except for the "apocalypse" part, which Malton is currently not. Survivors outnumber Zombies far too greatly and that's likely to never change in UD's current state.
Long story short: UD gets boring when survivors dominate 70% of the game over zombies. The game isn't boring when someone like The Dead trounce the place and make every single suburb a death zone, because then you have someone to truly fight against and a true goal to achieve. At the moment, it's a bit of a wank for survivors and it's been like it for a while. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 02:16, 15 August 2009 (BST)
I guess that means I do agree to some extent, but personally I don't find UD boring because I've gone to certain lengths to keep doing what makes me enjoy UD: fight back for suburbs with survivor groups in ravaged towns, and participate in manhunts with friends and other wiki users. You just have to find something Malton that keeps you coming back. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 02:16, 15 August 2009 (BST)
Thank you for that very honest answer. I honestly think though that it's the "standstill"ness of the game that makes it so different from what I imagined a MMORPG. If it helps you to understand what I mean try to imagine the movie Dawn of the Dead but with you being able to play in the entire city and there's *animation*. I don't want to click on a button and affect essentially nothing cause on a small scale like urban dead it feels like you are only playing with yourself and time is standing still. (no joke intended). I want to like see actual weapons and you aiming at the zombies who number in the hundred thousands as I helplessly try to barricade a mall or something. Can you feel that adrenaline from something so innovative? Aka Paradox 19:08, 15 August 2009 (BST)
Go get dead rising (i think thats its name) or some other zombie xbox game. This is a text based game, it doesn't try to be anything else. Look up text based MMORPG and you'll see theres heaps of them, they aren't everyones cup of tea so you can always play WoW if thats more up your alley.--xoxo 23:59, 15 August 2009 (BST)

Hey, I've just had a thought: shouldn't Daranz be the first sysop up for re-evauation as he was, technically, the first to be promoted (despite his inactivity). I don't mind going first, it gets it out of the way early but I was just wondering what you thought about it?--The General T Sys U! P! F! 16:17, 20 August 2009 (BST)

If he was the first one to be promoted then you are absolutely right and I apoligize, I set up the A/RE page late at night and was fearful I would get some of the user rights logs a little wrong. It is within your policy to have Daranz go before you, so it's up to what you'd prefer. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 00:27, 21 August 2009 (BST)

Suggestion

What do you think about the users voting keep on this? I tried asking Cyberbob, but there was no response. There are easily six of them now, and all of them are new users, most of whom have only voted on that suggestion. Do you think that they're sockpuppets, or do you think that they're just a load of newbs? --Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 20:29, 20 August 2009 (BST)

I've run the ips. A couple of them appear to be from the same area, possibly even the same person using a variable ip, but the addresses are different enough that we can't get them for sockpuppetry. Considering the similarities in the quality of their spelling and grammar, and the fact that they're all voting on the same awful suggestion, I would hazard a guess that some of them might be meatpuppets (i.e. the author asked his friends to come along and vote) but there's really nothing we can do about it.The General T Sys U! Well, he lost, because the suggestion was spammed. But that doesn't stop him trying again with an even zanier suggestion. How about we create a policy of haviong to have 5+ edits in the past month to vote on a suggestion? I'd happily make a policy discussion for it, but I don't know how.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 21:40, 20 August 2009 (BST)
If he tries again then I have no doubts whatsoever that it will be spamminated as well. While I do agree that some sort of policy limiting meatpuppetry would be a good idea, but I'm not sure it would be passed as because people wouldn't like the fact that it could restrict new users from voting. The suggestions system has it's own system for suggesting rules changes, etc. which is done through Category_talk:Suggestions#Suggestion_Discussion. Anyway, it appears boxy is more observant than I am and noticed further similarities in the typing patterns and on those grounds I've ruled vandalism.--The General T Sys U! P! Why should I bother? The entire topic was on the bunnies talk page, it's just customary on this wiki to continue the conversation there. Personally, I couldn't give two shits whether you were serious or not, the very fact you made the statement at all is ludicrous, even as a joke. Anyone with a shred of common sense would have criticised DTangent when he announced the policy, not just sit back and then cry when he 'breaks' it. If you are so touchy about me taking this up with you on your talk page, there's a lesson to be learned in this and it is you should have taken up your frivolous matter on DTangent's talk page, not the Bunnies. Now you've screwed up and anything goes, so deal with it.
And if you want to continue this on a talk page, then so be it, make it personal, I had trifles with the policy more than you, but whatever. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 00:00, 24 August 2009 (BST)

Header Images

In some of the North-Eastern suburbs, I've seen some images, used alogn with the headers, such as AquaMonument.jpg, AquaInfo.jpg and AquaReviv.jpg. I think they give a nicer aesthetic feel to the page. I'd be willing to add them to the other suburbs, but ideally, I'd like to ask a sysops permission first, as it's a change to the overall format of the page. (Well, just adding an image, but still). What do you think?--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 14:39, 27 August 2009 (BST)

Sysops don't have any more say over the aesthetics or content (except NPOV) of pages than anyone else. The only reason you should feel the need to ask a sysop before doing something is if you think it might be taken as being vandalism, and the sort of thing you're looking to do is anything but. Cyberbob  Talk  14:59, 27 August 2009 (BST)
Thanks, well I'll get right to work on that then. I just didn't want an a/vb case or anything.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 15:01, 27 August 2009 (BST)
There's seriously honestly truly no need to be wary of being accused of vandalism, much less being "convicted" of it, when you're doing something so obviously in good faith. You do get the odd stupid case from numbskulls who don't bother to ask the person they're accusing about their actions beforehand, but those are a rarity.
BTW: Making A/VB cases doesn't have anything to do with being a sysop in any way shape or form. We do make the majority of them but that's because we - for the most part - tend to either be more active than most people or are simply a bit more alert. It doesn't bear any relation to our position at all. Cyberbob  Talk  15:09, 27 August 2009 (BST)
(sorry if I'm harping on a bit here but I really don't like that particular misconception - nothing against you or anything) Cyberbob  Talk  15:10, 27 August 2009 (BST)
No, I moreso asked a sysop because they have the power to vote, and being a sysop means that you're meant to ahve a better understanding of policy. I was wondering if it breached a policy I was unaware of. I've done the first 10 or so, and I'll continue with the rest another time. I should have finished it within the week. Then I'll start work on trying to get all suburb pages ordered in the same way.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 15:24, 27 August 2009 (BST)

I didn't change the timestamp to "legally" submit two suggestions in one day. And why can't I post humorous suggestions? Climaxville isn't an attack at anyone... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BlueSpurt (talkcontribs) .

Humourous suggestions are seen as vandalism if posted in the main suggestion system. There is a separate place to put them. -- Cheese 16:29, 27 August 2009 (BST)

A) There is no feasible reason why you should have changed the timestamp on your suggestion and the fact that it was superseded by a multi suggestion made it look bad. B) You can't post humourous suggestions because putting them in the main suggestions system is vandalism. C) Regardless of whether it is/isn't an attack at all, (B) still applies in the justification of your warning. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 16:31, 27 August 2009 (BST)

I want to delete both of my accounts (old one and this current one) so that I can make a new account using the name of my old account, so can you please suggest what I should do next? Should I put up both the accounts up for speedy delete, or what? --The Second 09:58, 30 August 2009 (BST)

Daranz speaks the truth. None of us can do anything about it, I'm sorry. Unless you can work out which email addy you registered with (and it's still active), you'll be better off starting again. Did you also sign up as Dr Frankfurt? -- boxy talkteh rulz 10:14 30 August 2009 (BST)

We can't delete users, only their pages. The best thing you could do is make your userpages redirect to the account you want to use. Do you know how to do that? --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 11:22, 30 August 2009 (BST)
Thanks, can please you tell me how to redirect pages? And which page should I redirect to? --The Second 12:35, 30 August 2009 (BST)
Alright, for example, if Dr Frank is your old account, you just replace all the content on that page to the following:
#REDIRECT: [[User:NEW ACCOUNT]]
Obviously replacing NEW ACCOUNT with your new username. To change your signature to say the name you want but link to your main account, make the new account that you want and then go to my preferences and change the "nickname" field to the name you want (for example, Dr Frank) and make sure that the "Raw signatures" box underneath it is unchecked, then save your preferences. Your signature should now say your chosen name but link to your new user profile. If you have any problems, just come back and I'll try and help out. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 13:30, 30 August 2009 (BST)
Technically, you could try to get Kevan to delete it or to install the renameuser extension. However, it's probably simpler to simply create a new account and use a nickname.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 23:21, 30 August 2009 (BST)
Ok, I made a signature for this account that leads to this page. I'll be using this account but logging in with this one. I only need to make sure that User:The Second redirects to User:Dr Frank, or maybe that's not necessary, since the signature takes you to Dr Frank. ~Dr Frank (t) (DF) [P] (Sb) 04:00, 31 August 2009 (BST)
Hm, I was under the assumption you would be using the account that you were redirecting to and leaving the redirected one inactive because you didn't want it anymore. Why on earth do you want to use one account but make it redirect to an inactive one? --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 04:31, 31 August 2009 (BST)
I'm so very confused. I wanted to use my old account, but since I couldn't access it I made this one, and am using it to use the old account. I just want to start using the old, inactive account. I hope there isn't a problem with that... --~Dr Frank (t) (DF) [P] (Sb) 04:39, 31 August 2009 (BST)
Ah, I see. Look, You should, in my opinion, just make an account called DrFrank or something that's similar and just make that your main account. What you're doing isn't technically wrong but it's just so confusing for users because The Second, on first inspection, is too discernible from Dr Frank it will just confuse users. It's basically up to you. However, it might be worth it to make a notice at the top of Dr Frank, just to say that you edit under the account of The Second, just so no one freaks out etc. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 04:55, 31 August 2009 (BST)
Thanks, well for now I'll just do things as I said before, but I'll definitely try to think out something else. Thanks for the help! --~Dr Frank (t) (DF) [P] (Sb) 05:58, 31 August 2009 (BST)
Good luck --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 07:34, 31 August 2009 (BST)
Bad, bad precedent. Just get over the loss of the old account, and start again with a similar one... and this time remember to pick an email account you'll still be using in a years time or more -- boxy talkteh rulz 10:00 31 August 2009 (BST)

Game History

DanceDanceRevolution said:
  • make a subcategory of Category:Events that only has in-game events created by kevan eg. fog
    • and hence, make Snow!

The existing categories for game history, fictional backstory, actual news events, mega-impact player events and smaller scale player events is a fucked up as that list itself.

I had a half-hearted attempted at providing some reasonable order in my (on-going) category cleanup. Currently most everything comes under Category:History where I've had a stab at deciding what belongs where. Category:Events would be for game history such as sieges and basically anything players organized. Category:Fiction is the catch-all for anything that's basically creative writing. Generally backstory but some other stuff too. The history category itself I was planning to use to chuck the actual news updates and special happenings like April Fools, Halloween, etc, and maybe any articles that were reasonably NPOV on events that had a big in-game impact (Yahoomas, the goons, etc)

That said, I'm open to debate on all that. I didn't feel upto renaming/recategorizing most of that since they were well populated and whatnot. -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 01:59, 3 September 2009 (BST)

Hmm. I always prefer using a category like Category:History as a portal category, say for Category:Events, Category:Fiction and perhaps.... Category:Developer Events (decent title TBA obviously), and then all that which is in Category:History and Category:Events can be sorted between those three. What do you think? --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 02:06, 3 September 2009 (BST)

Floating Template-ting

Your old name space (The one with the face and the "stylish minimalism" as you put it) really doesn't help anyone trying to read the far right column on your page. Because you have to scroll down to see it above the template. Or floating page. Or the name you call it, whatever that may be. --RahrahCome join the #party!13:32, 3 September 2009 (BST)

Probably. But I get what you mean about the Events thingy. Should I have read more into it?--RahrahCome join the #party!13:57, 3 September 2009 (BST)
No, don't feel like you're doing wrong because I love all the help I can get- and what you're doing isn't wrong because wiki's are designed to be like this- I just think that "Events" is an apt term to describe the player-run events. particularly because Kevan's are much rarer and perhaps deserve a category called maybe "Official Events". Whatcha think? Obviously if you can think of a better name than Official Events, I'm all ears ;) --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 14:00, 3 September 2009 (BST)
And also because "Events" will be the category of choice for noobs when they categorise their own event, so we won't have to fix up cock-ups as often. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 14:02, 3 September 2009 (BST)

Dakerstown Libraries for deletion

Dakerstown Libraries is up for Speedy Deletion. Where do I put it? On the deletions page, where I put Dakerstown Buildings a moment ago or directly to Speedy Deletions? If latter, where there exactly? Thanks. --Maps 15:20, 4 September 2009 (BST)

Just at the top of here (on A/SD) with a level 3 header. You aren't required to give a criterion as users usually can pick it anyway, just throw it on there and say the same thing as you said on A/D with Dakerstown Buildings. For future reference, once building location blocks have become unmerged, they become Criterion 1's for Speedy Deletion because all their content has since been copied to more relevant locations, so they don't need to go through the Deletions page. Good luck. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 15:25, 4 September 2009 (BST)

Here goes. For some reason the coordinates 6,32 still redirect to Dunell Hills Railway stations, when they should redirect to Brimson Alley Railway Station. Is that because it's http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/6%2C32#Brimson_Alley_Railway_Station when it should actually be http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/6%2C32? If yes, do I just put the former up for speedy deletion and create a new one?--Maps 17:28, 4 September 2009 (BST)

Undeletion

This is what happens when I go away.

Laughing Boy decides he's going to have his own way with other groups. He creates Mall_Tour_2009/Map after group leadership have already decided to delete it. And then has the actual map deleted because he's apparently in charge.

The deletion breaks links and ruins the fact that the group is hosted entirely in category space as is legal and makes it easier to find things when linking etc.

Deleting it also caused breaks in template links, not that he appears to have considered this first.

Given that group leadership have the right to organise their pages as they see fit, and creating pages in the space of other groups or users has been voted vandalism previously, do we get a deletion of his version and an undeletion of the actual version? Or must there be drama? -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 20:28, 12 September 2009 (BST)

I have a feeling you're looking for this page.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 20:37, 12 September 2009 (BST)
I know that, but it's easier to resolve here given that official requests will entail questions as to why is was deleted when it broke a template etc. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 20:39, 12 September 2009 (BST)
Fair enough. I was under the misinterpretation that undeletion required a vote.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 21:09, 12 September 2009 (BST)
He had to move the page manually because moving category pages is impossible. Having it as a category page was pretty stupid and I agree that it should've been moved. That said there does appear to be this pre-existing duplicate which appears to have been missed be everybody, so it seems like SDing the new page would rectify this.
On a related note, the first level headers of these 09 tour pages still need fixing for interfering with content outside the usual page area. It'd be nice to see something actually done about that. -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 00:39, 13 September 2009 (BST)
Who asked for a move? No-one in the group. In owned userspace people and groups can create subpages as they see fit. What we have here is someone recreating a page leadership had deleted, and then having a perfectly legal page deleting and breaking links elsewhere. How hard is it for the sysop team to respect the rights of groups? -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 01:18, 13 September 2009 (BST)
It was an unused category, open to speedydeletion. What a stupid way to set up a group, putting it in the category space. This was always going to happen -- boxy talkteh rulz 03:03 13 September 2009 (BST)
The way the whole group was set up seems to have been done specifically to create namespace drama. It's clear that group pages and sub pages in the main namespace are owned pages, there is no need for groups on User pages or group sub-pages in the category namespace. Categories are deleted when no other pages are in the category, regardless of whether they are created by groups -- boxy talkteh rulz 03:05 13 September 2009 (BST)
People breaking templates and sysops supporting them. People creating pages in the group space and sysops supporting them when it's been ruled vandalism before. Sysops accusing me of creating drama when I was following the example set by two then sysops. A sysop managing to argue here when he hasn't ruled on the major misconduct case at hand, normal users can argue, they can't rule misconduct. The other sysop finding time to argue here and not actually do my protections.
It's like nothing has actually changed here.... -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 03:15, 13 September 2009 (BST)

It's very simple really, don't screw up the group's wiki-organisation, and random users won't have to come along and fix it for you. If you think that's it's entirely sensible to have a template trying to act as a group subpage in the category namespace, then something is sorely wrong with you. -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 04:29, 13 September 2009 (BST)

Did I say you created it? No. But you are staunchly protesting beyond all good sense. Especially since the new page will get nuked for dupe-ness in short order anyway. -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 04:37, 13 September 2009 (BST)
"It's very simple really, don't screw up the group's wiki-organisation, and random users won't have to come along and fix it for you." As this page is the only one in question and you've said "fix it for you", I didn't create it, so they aren't fixing it for me. It also can't be a dupe, as the fucking leadership of the group already had the page he re-created deleted under owner privilege. He decided he was going to go against the express wishes of the owners of the page and bring back something they had removed. Also, still doesn't address why it went through this process and broke a template whilst no fucker noticed. It also doesn't explain why my protections still aren't done (oh you must not be one of those janitorial sysops...) or you can take the time to argue here and not consider the misconduct cases (so you aren't a ruling sysop either.... what do you actually do with the position?). Still waiting for my apology. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 04:47, 13 September 2009 (BST)
I'm sorry, Iscariot, sorry that you're such a tool. You created this mess when you organised the group this way. You created the original Category:Mall Tour 2009 page, that forced this sub page to become an unused category when someone else just tacked on the /MT09Map to the end like anyone would. It wouldn't be a problem if the page was in the proper place in the first place, in the main namespace. If you were really looking to help fix up the Mall Tour 2009 pages, you'd be fixing any links or inclusions that may be stuffed up, and making it easy for "the group leadership" to use without creating confusing and duplicate pages all over the wiki -- boxy talkteh rulz 07:18 13 September 2009 (BST)

As stupid as the whole thing may seem, it is a group project and if having it in its current incarnation is breaking links and inclusions then they have a right to want it reverted. I've undeleted the category, will you be fit to fix the links etc. Iscariot? --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 04:40, 13 September 2009 (BST)

The linkages should have refixed themselves now the undeletion has occurred. Mall_Tour_2009/Map will need re-SDing using Fiffy's original wishes, it is also a dupe of the needed version. Newbie

Hi, I'm Drox and I'm new. I usually run around, updating building statuses and such. When I got to my usual pages at West Becktown, I got a "welcome newbie" message. It redirected me to the Project Mentor page and asked me to pick one. So, what do I do? - Droxisla 14:14, 16 September 2009 (BST)

Well, it depends what you want to do on the wiki. I see you've already gotten used to updating Danger Reports, but there's more to be found on the wiki, say, if you'd like to make/join an in-game group, or read UD's history, read about items/skills, or help maintain certain status reports (which you already do for buildings), then you're always welcome to hang around. It all depends on what you're interested in, so if you ever find something you'd like to do, and need a hand, I'll always be here. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 14:17, 16 September 2009 (BST)
Alright. I'll drop you a message whenever I think about starting a project. I'm currently just maintaining daily status reports in whatever buildings I run past. But I'm thinking of writing some form of historical background for some of the buildings in Malton, like St. Werburgh's Hostpital. No one's written anything about it yet. -- Droxisla 14:34, 16 September 2009 (BST)

Are to identify people. Next time you want to be a douche about a comment about a policy at least remember when people you now personally have been banned for it in the past. Especially when it's one of the more notably relevant cases regarding said policy in recent history. --Karekmaps?! 14:05, 17 September 2009 (BST)

I never saw Read's obvious bad-faith signature as close to Iscariot's current one as I do now. Thanks. Leave the arguments on their respective pages by the way, don't try and throw such shit in my face via my talk page. Thanks in advance. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 14:10, 17 September 2009 (BST)
Lose the attitude before I treat you in the manner your requesting. You may feel that you're being here and my not makes my comments invalid but it doesn't. Just because I'm not here for every whiny cunt drama fest doesn't make my additions any less valid, especially when I'm commenting for valid reasons. So you're butthurt about something, get over it or come to me and actually bitch about it in a manner that actually has you not behaving like a royal cunt for no reason because, at this point, that's exactly what you're doing all over the wiki. I posted it on your talk page because that's direct to you and you get a notice and are obviously on, there's no throwing it in your face beyond saying lose the baseless attitude, the rest is "hey, look, this is relevant to my comment and why I posted to boxy and if you're going to continue in that discussion you should probably be aware of it" Sorry I didn't phrase it nice enough, I wasn't aware you were raging at me in general about stupid shit until your last ridiculous comment on A/M. --Karekmaps?! 14:20, 17 September 2009 (BST)
I never said anything you was saying was less valid. I said if you actually paid more attention to the events you were commenting on there would be less likelihood of stuffing it up, reasonable enough? Yeah, you're free to comment on my talk page but my preference is that we keep the disputes on one page for ease of reading for other users/ourselves later on. I have no further interest in pursuing this Karke, the only reason I had a bite was because a) you complained about no one 'going on' about Iscariot's signature, implying that we as sysop weren't doing their job, when I clearly had 'gone on' about it, hence the butthurt. Also, under my obligation to let the community have their say on A/M before archival is the only reason I had a go at you for prolonging the unnecessary and futile discussion about an admittedly preposterous (but dead) proposal, and then you claiming me that I am not doing my job, hence the further butthurt. I'm over it now. Arsehole, douche, ignorant, biased, bad sysop, whatever I am, I'm over the argument. Just happy Nubis' chapter is finally over and I couldn't care much about anything else we argued about.

To DDR, my sig wasn't bad faith. Being slightly annoying isn't bad faith. The way the Sysop team didnt give me one week to change it is bad faith. The way I was banned for increasing the amount of links to my user page and subpages and removing the amount of external links while decreasing the amount of characters in the link was bad faith.

And to Karek, I lol'd at you saying blah blah..."doesn't make my opinion any less valid". I think I remember you claiming that anyone who wasn't a sysop didn't have an opinion worth listening to. You said it on basically every medium I've ever corresponded with you. You made a big fuss about being elitist on IRC, remember?--CyberRead240 15:38, 17 September 2009 (BST)

I think you're confusing situational elitism and educated contributing. My addition on sysop stuff matters on the basis that I can legitimately talk on precedence and policy in a knowledgeable and correct manner. Being there when something happens isn't a viable limiter to user contribution when it doesn't limit the ability of the user to monitor the going ons of the issue/case/event, activity is not a measure of correctness. --Karekmaps?! 22:30, 17 September 2009 (BST)

You are still butthurt that I never explained the i in Misconduct. How petty of you to change it just because you didn't "get it".--– Nubis NWO 18:27, 18 September 2009 (BST)

Since your demotion, someone had the chance to actually archive one of your cases before you could speed-archive it yourself. I took the liberty of making the page uniform to the other archive pages. In fact, you are entirely wrong, even if I was told the meaning of it, I wouldn't agree with having it there anyway. And it would seem I wasn't the one who was still butthurt, since you were the one who came to my page with the intent of pestering me about something you no longer have control over. You should have known it wouldn't stay there forever. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 03:56, 19 September 2009 (BST)
yeah sorry mang but you're pretty obviously still hung up over it if you're able to recall it with such speed and write a bunch of angery words about it Cyberbob  Talk  06:23, 19 September 2009 (BST)

Orphaned Recruitment

To save me a headache, im going to create a subst templat I can put on groups talk page to say "Hey heres a link to your recruitment advert, its unlinked, dont want it put it on deletions". Any idea on appropriate wording? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 11:21, 22 September 2009 (BST)

The following page(s) are orphaned, meaning they aren't linked from any other page on UDWiki. For house-keeping's sake, we are simply adding the link onto the relevant talk page. Hows that? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 15:43, 22 September 2009 (BST)

Yeah, just saw it on RC. I like the image and the colouring, but imo the text is too small to be helpful. I was just toying with it when you PM'd me, maybe something like:

Would be easier to read? just default sized the text and widened it so it wrapped properly around the image. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 15:46, 22 September 2009 (BST)

Good work on making Crat. Bit of a surprise to log in and find you've been promoted. Good Luck, Have Fun. --Scurley7 13:11, 25 September 2009 (BST)

So.

Would you prefer me to start a new vandal banning case against Nubis for this post here where she claims DCC as an alt, or should we just merge the vandal data and then count up all of the times Nubis ruled for DCC and if that result is over 1 (which is how many steps beyond 1 month ban to a possible permaban) and go for a permaban vote among the sysops? --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™ 21:27, 25 September 2009 (BST)

I can't believe you are actually so childish you are taking this personally and fighting DCC's battle for him... you came so close but just missed the mark Cyberbob  Talk  13:35, 26 September 2009 (BST)
I'm not sure. A large case is not likely to succeed because we are hesitant to rule on things we can't prove, namely actions that go far back that can't be proved via checkuser. Technically, once DCC is on A/VB, any one of us can call for a premature permaban vote, as per Nubis' own typical precedence established here, but despite the fact DCC has claimed multiple times to have been in control of Nubis account for over a year (eg. A/PM and Nub's talk page), I doubt you'll get the outcome you hoped for. Personally, now he's been demoted they've gone more or less inactive, which supports the theory that they are the same person (the buttons are gone now so he has no interest to come back), but at the same time, asking for more is a bit much. If you want to do the method which has more chance of succeeding, I'd suggest the first one. The team, myself included, has shown enough apathy in enforcing the second method that I wouldn't think your chances are high. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 02:42, 26 September 2009 (BST)

Developing Guides?

What you reckon?

Worth it?

I know I havent finished with orphans yet, and Im currently writing an essay on espoused theory, but it could be worth it. Any way, my guides been up for voting for much longer than a week. Want to do the honours? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 21:22, 27 September 2009 (BST)

I know it won't get used as much as DS, but it'd be handy, and it'd save guys like you from having to take your suggestion through the official system just for some feedback. And regarding the week period, I've just changed it to two weeks because Link had been meaning to since the great Guide purge, but forgot. Hope you don't mind it being up there a few more days. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 23:36, 27 September 2009 (BST)

Barricade Plan Template -- District Version

Hey DDR. I've been working on a district version of the standard suburb barricade plan template. I have all the crazy linked coding set up (so that if you make a change to the suburb's plan it is reflected in the district plan automatically), but for some reason I'm still having some issues with uniform sizing of the suburbs within the district. I talked to Red Hawk One about it and he said you might have a better idea of how to go about fixing it.

I just spent the last couple hours playing with both the individual suburb width and height values and those in my tables, but both to nil effect. Hoping that maybe you can think of something I haven't, or that collective brainstorming will come to a solution. I'd love to set this up for all the districts in Malton, but not unless they can look good. All the work is in my Sandbox. Thanks in advance! --Maverick Talk - OBR Praise Knowledge! 404 08:02, 29 September 2009 (BST)

Hmm. I looked at all the sandboxes, I think I understand what you mean... this is the issue, yes? The odd spaces and whatnot inbetween all the individual suburb inclusions? Does it mean that you'd like them all together without spaces inbetween? --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 08:34, 29 September 2009 (BST)
That's exactly what I'm looking for. Either so there is no space, or so there is minimal space. Either way, the varied sizes among all the suburbs is what is driving me crazy right now. --Maverick Talk - OBR Praise Knowledge! 404 07:21, 30 September 2009 (BST)
I think this one may be beyond me at the moment- It's over my head but regardless I'll give it a go after work tomorrow, but in the interest of getting it fixed as soon as possible I've contacted some of the better coders on the wiki, they'll definitely be able to do it for you, the only question is whether they'll come onto UDWiki soon enough to see it. We'll see. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 14:02, 30 September 2009 (BST)
I've been working on it since the beginning of 2009 to get this far, so I'm not in a big rush. But thanks for contacting other coding folks about it! --Maverick Talk - OBR Praise Knowledge! 404 06:28, 1 October 2009 (BST)

A Hunt Involving Men

I'm thinking, about organising it. Thoughts so far are,

  • 2 player teams

0r

  • Sitting Ducks. That is random bonus characters are introduced every few days, person who kills them gets bonus points, plus it brings everyone closer together.

What you reckon?

--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 16:00, 1 October 2009 (BST)

Sounds cool, how do we find random bonus characters? Are they involved in the hunt originally or randoms? Either way is good obvs, just wondering who will decide which randoms are the bonuses? --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 17:01, 1 October 2009 (BST)

[3] thats how, the grand high commander creates them. 3 bonus points for whoever finds the bonus man in Vinetown --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:01, 1 October 2009 (BST)
