Suggestion description
---DO NOT VOTE ANYMORE--- I am pulling this suggestion of it happening more often that I thought, and it is overpowered. If it is to be used, it must undergo better development and will then be submitted in an updated form. Thansk for inputs.--Kolechovski 19:49, 1 April 2008 (BST)
ORIGINAL SUGGESTION:
There are several different weather-related suggestions in PR. Although I can't find the links, here's one of them:
http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Suggestion:20071123_Weather_with_Effects_on_Game_Actions
Nowehere in PR exists anything about ice storms. I think some suggestion somewhere already covered snow, and if not, well, we all know snow was included this past winter, so I don't feel a need to add anything about that. I guess I'm suggesting adding to the list of weather effects the occasional ice storm.
Ice storm chances: 5% chance of occuring each day, and once it does occur, lasts for UP TO 3 days before melting.
Effects: All outside movement takes 2 AP, regardless of lifeforms or skills. Free Runners also risk a 5% chance of falling from their building when attempting to Free Run to another building, with the current fall mechanics of ruined buildings (same chances of getting hurt for same amounts).
Now of course, there are various wintry mixes involving sleet and various combinations, but as they all make things extremely trecherous, so for simplicity, let's just call them ice storms for now, or if you want, could even add flavor by defining the type of slippy substance.

- keep - but only in winter. during summer maybe something like heat wvae or some junk, cuz I don't wanna fall from a building, in summer, because of an "Ice storm" --Officer 123satsitx 22:18, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

- Keep - It's a weather suggestion and we need weather, although perhaps not as realistic as others. As Funt.-- AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 23:21, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

- Keep - Blasted weather! --Heretic144 07:04, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- Change - Every 20 days is too often. --BoboTalkClown 17:27, 30 March 2008 (BST)
Kill Votes
- Kill - As Funt said. This just nerfs everyone. Also, having it last for 3 days with a 5% chance of it always happening is a bit overpowered. You do realize statistically this will occur every 20 days, and last for 3. Dealing with this once every month would be a horrible pain in the ass for all players. I live in Canada, and we dont get ice storms that bad. Maybe if it was only like a once a year thing it might be tolerable.--Dr Doom86 T PSS 22:54, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Kill - Would occur too often and nerf zeds too much. Billy Club Thorton T! RR 03:33, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill- Stupidly high chance of this occurring. -- BKM 05:54, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- kill - ice storms? why not tornadoes or a volcanoes or poison monkeys? --Scotw 12:21, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill - As everybody else, especially Scotw, but only because I would particularly like to see a volcano in Malton. --Vandurn 14:17, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill - As Dr.Doom stated, I to live in Canada, and even though we got igloos... Ice storms happen maybe once or twice a winter where I am. AND it doesn't happen at all during the summer... Unless of course we're talking about an Ice Age here. -- Rogue Sergeant 14:22, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill - I really don't want to have to deal with these when they come along--CorndogheroT-S-Z 17:39, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill/Change As Dr.Doom and Rogue Sergeant, I too live in Canada and we rarely get weather like that, make it once a year and give zombies something that would equal the free running penalty and I'd vote keep. --FXI 17:55, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- Kill - I think it's too often, and should occur seasonally. It is also not really fun due to the AP hit. --ZsL 22:07, 30 March 2008 (BST)
- #Kill - Unrealistic. Plus the 2AP 4 movement is crap.--Luke Skywalker 14:11, 5 April 2008 (BST) - Vote placed after removal from voting. -- Cheese 18:20, 5 April 2008 (BST)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- Spam - 2AP movement is a pain in the proverbial, and therefore this suggestion nerfs everyone, which isn't fun. --Funt Solo QT 20:07, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Re: Actually, that part would only dwarf the movements of those on the streets, and rather than really halting gameplay, it would simply encourage activity in the area you're at for a couple days, rather than trying to travel so much. And these ice storms should be rare. Kinda something interesting like the fog (without having maps to go by).--Kolechovski 20:19, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Re - your reply just makes it worse - now that you've clarified that this would hurt zombie players the most. Seriously, the 2AP movement is incredibly annoying if one is playing an early-game zombie - incredibly annoying. In fact (and this is slightly off-topic), playing an early zombie is so damned irritating that I'm surprised anyone does it except through sheer ignorance of quite how annoying it is. Anyone wanting to go zombie in Monroeville would have a better chance if they went survivor and racked up XP that way for the zombie skills. Apart from anything, there's still no zombie equivalent of the flak jacket or of body building. Seriously, that should have been sorted out years ago. </rant> --Funt Solo QT 19:25, 30 March 2008 (BST)

- spam - as Funt --~~~~ [talk] 22:02, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Spam - MASSIVE survivor buff. This halves horde movement and effectively makes possession of Lurching Gait pointless. Also, a 5% is NOT rare. It equates to having one every 20 days, with the possibility of having it last three days, forcing zeds out of a skill for 15% of their play. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 23:17, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
