20080104 Quick Barricade Destruction Text Change

Kolechovski 16:16, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Suggestion type
Improvement.

Suggestion scope
Loose barricade destruction text.

Suggestion description
This is just a quick logic suggestion, and I expect it to pass unanimously (though please vote, because votes are needed for it to do so). When you destroy a final section of barricade, it says, “You smash at the barricade. Part of it collapses. The last few sections of it fall away.” That’s a bit contradictory. I simply suggest that the “Part of it collapses” line be removed when the loose cade is destroyed. Then it would make perfect sense. See, wasn’t that nice and quick?

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Makes sense. Just a little hint: never say you exzpect something to pass unanimously, it makes you seem like an arrogant prick. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 16:20, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  2. Keep/change - Less prickish arrogance please. ChrisForelle 16:34, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Re: (To both Keep voters) Sorry, I'm not tryign to sound like an arrogant prick. It was simply a common sense issue, so I doubted anybody would disagree. What I'm getting at is, at least change it to "The REST of it collapses" or something like that. If only PART of it collapses, then there should still be something remaining, logic-wise. That's how I see that bit anyhow.--Kolechovski 18:16, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Re: (To Kolechovski) um... you know you can vote on your own suggestion right?
  3. Keep - No, I wasn't aware. I thought that the suggestion maker either didn't get to vote, or his vote was automatically considered a keep. That seems a bit redundant as well. But thanks for letting me know. And I put this vote here, because the guy below me voted kill, but it';s in the keep section, and I don't know what to do about that...--Kolechovski 19:02, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  4. Keep - "I expect it to pass unanimously," I will help you achieve this goal good sir...--/~Rakuen~\ 18:35, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  5. Keep/change Maybe change it slightly to the last few sections of the barricade collapse and fall away Keeps the word collapse in there for those of us who tend to use it as a visual cue.--SeventythreeTalk 19:34, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  6. Keep - I've always wondered why it says that, seems common sense to me. Despite the seeming arrogance, I don't believe is was intentional nor does it affect the quality of the suggestion in any way.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 21:22, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  7. Keep - that has always bothered me too, Mr. Arrogant Prick--CorndogheroT-S-Z 21:49, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  8. Keepshhh - Hmm ok, but change it to what Seventythree says, it seems better that way. Acoustic Pie 22:04, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  9. Keep - As Seventythree (73, Seventrytreee, Seven three, the number, the only number, the one whos name is a number). --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 23:07, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  10. Keep - Change to it collapses or the rest collapses.Studoku 00:50, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
  11. Keep - Okay. --PdeqTalk* 01:47, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
  12. Change - As Seventythree. BoboTalkClown 01:55, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
  13. Keep - As Seventythree. And I don't suppose kill votes should be kill votes for the sake of being kill votes. A little less arrogance helps everyone, too. ~AriedartinTalkA KS J abt all 04:46, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
  14. Keep - anyone accusing the guy of arrogance, are simply projecting their own personalities onto what he's written. The change makes sense. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 10:55, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
  15. keep - I like your text better. The Mad Axeman 16:46, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
  16. Keep - I'm pretty sure half the kill voters didn't read the suggestion, short as it was. --Heretic144 19:51, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
  17. Keep - Good change. --Pgunn 22:14, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
  18. Keep - I'm getting sort of tired of the old barricade smashing text. --The Gecko PKer 22:45, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
  19. Keep Above. --Darth LumisT! A! E! SR 02:12, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
  20. Keep - A little bit of grammar never hurt anyone. --Uncle Bill 05:31, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
  21. Keep - As above. // Johaen 21:24, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
  22. Sure- I can't think of a reason why not. --Reaper with no name TJ! 17:35, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
  23. Keep So we're against making Sense? I think not! ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 05:33, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
  24. Keep - I'm pretty sure this is a waste of time to even suggest, but it does make sense. - Inky 21:09, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
  25. I am on a voting spree, but to make this vote valid, I'm in agreement with those above. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:47, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. kill - Part of it Collapses is standard text for losing a level, it shouldn't be changed, even if it is the last level.--Karekmaps?! 16:25, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  2. kill - Well... the thing is, I rely on "Part of it collapses." to know that I've scored a hit (I still don't know if "It creaks." means anything), and as such, even if the wording is contradictory when destroying the last piece, I feel it's more important to maintain the visual cue than to fix the sentence structure. I click, I look, I see, “You smash at the barricade. Part of it collapses. The last few sections of it fall away.” and I instantly know that I've defeated the barricades. WOOT! Maybe you can think up a way to fix the grammar without making successful hits harder to recognize? --Ms.Panes 16:40, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  3. kill - Part of it DOES collapse - the last part. Unneeded change.--Actingupagain 17:48, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  4. kill - as Actingupagain. Also, if you would be so arrogant i might have voted keep... --~~~~ [talk] 18:35, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Re: I have to ask why people are suddenly thinking I'm arrogant??? It's quite the opposite. And even if I was, why would anybody's behavior influence a vote? I thought votes were supposed to be about your feelings toward the quality of teh suggestion, not the voter. But I am still new to this, so I might have it all wrong...--Kolechovski 19:02, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Votes don't really matter, it's a funny toy in wikiusers' hands, nothing more. Kevan reads all suggestions, well, maybe except those that are spaminated quickly and isn't limited with the votes values the suggestion had. The arrogance, concentrated in words I expect it to pass unanimously (though please vote, because votes are needed for it to do so) is in suggestion and i expressed my feelings about this as about the part of suggestion. Also, i refer to the justification made by Actingupagain, with which i agree. If you have any more questions, i'll be glad to answer them on the talk page. --~~~~ [talk] 11:13, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
  5. Kill - As Actingupagain --Ryiis 18:37, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  6. Kill - As Actingupagain and ChrisForelle. Sheana T / TMZ 22:15, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  7. Kill - As Actingupagain. Pointless change. --Kramer 22:59, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  8. Kill - As all above kill votes. Omega 00:52, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Kill - Meh -- boxy talki 01:04 5 January 2008 (BST) Unjustified vote struck. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 10:33, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
  9. Kill - This suggestion is uninteresting and unneeded -- boxy talki 22:59 8 January 2008 (BST)
  10. Kill - Not needed. Not wanted. You being an arrogant dick didnt help either. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 01:51, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
  11. Kill - The barricades can still collapse and block the entrance, requiring "The last few sections of it fall away [from the door]." to still be in the sentence. --Z. slay3r Talk  07:29, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
  12. Kill - I don't think this is needed. I like it the way it is. --Hhal 00:55, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
  13. kill - Not needed. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:21, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
  14. Kill - Why hasn't anyone brought this up before? Seems like it's not much of a problem. --Private Mark 23:14, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
  15. Kill - No need for this. Also, you may not believe this, but changing what you suppose a tiny bit of redundant text would involve a lot of coding, as it is a text that always pops up when a certain condition is met, in this case, the breaching of part of a barricade.
