Suggestion description
I know every one hates the idea of X-raying but I figure every one would like some form of it for their character, so I may as well make an attempt, don't go immediately voting no because the wiki discourages it, after all as the wiki says "This isn't to say that is impossible to come up with a workable variant of these broad ideas..."; and if I do come up with a version the majority agree with then there will be less in the future.

Please stick suggestions for improvements at the bottom, after all this is for developing not voting.

  • Human

'Look outside'

Humans who are inside now have the option to 'look outside' for a cost of 1AP a human can look outside through a window and see who is DIRECTLY outside the building, not on the adjacent squares. Anybody outside can see people looking outside and receives a message when they log in. 'Since your last turn "X people have looked out the window."'

Pros: Allows survivors to look outside from safety,
No requirements.

Cons: Gives away their position,
Costs 1AP every time.

  • Zombies

New skill

'Keen ears'

No prerequisites

Zombies can purchase this skill for 100XP, they can now hear movement inside buildings, if the building they are standing directly outside has a total population HIGHER than the barricade level (doors=level 0/EHB=Level 7) then they will recieve the message "You can hear movement inside the building." this does not tell you if it is a survivor, zombie or combination..

Pros: Permanently Active,
Gives ferals more chance of finding survivors,
Hopefully stop Zergers making sentries for buildings by spamming their 'Radar'.

Cons: Little use to hordes as they've probably ransacked all the buildings already,
May end up with a zombie!
Difficult to hear individual people.

Keep Votes

  1. - Keep - As if I'd vote Kill... --Kamikazie-Bunny 07:49, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. Keep- I like the idea of zombies being able to see movement from the street, but survivors can already see outside with binoculars... --Airborne88 10:29, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  3. Keep --Hhal 12:34, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  4. Keep - Mainly because I don't like the spam brigade. It's also the best X-ray vision suggestion I've seen, both in realism and playability.--Studoku 17:41, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  5. Keep - Makes sense. The fetishism of the things not to suggest is overdone anyhow. --Pgunn 22:36, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  6. Keep - Seems good to me. - Grant (talk) 22:56, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  7. Keep - Leave out the Keen ears stuff. --Heretic144 01:39, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
  8. Keep - Quinte sensible. It makes things harder for those who get off on meatshielding and favours the daring loner. I like it. --Dr. Trobar Clus 01:52 4 March 2008 (UTC)
  9. Keep - Ears and windows are not superpowers. Seems fairly balanced and fun. --PdeqTalk* 03:43, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
  10. Keep - I think this would really improve role playing, in zombie movies you always see the survivors looking outside to see if there are any zombies outside. The keen ears thing makes scents to, does anyone remember the seen from Shaun of the dead, where Ed turns on the game machine and all the coins fall out. Making all shorts of noise, and then zombies start coming up to the widows. I mean come on people, we have malls with over 300 people in them sometimes, and they can't all be sitting quietly reading books in the book store.--Jamie Cantwell3 20:42, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
  11. Keep - its realistic and not one sided, definitally a keep --Horcoff 15:36, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
  12. Keep - Seems fairly balanced. Padfu-Zomfu 17:55, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
  13. Keep - I've no problem with being able to look outside/hear inside. I think so-called 'X-Ray vision' skills have a worse reputation than they deserve, and I suspect those sorts of skills not nearly as powerful as people think they are. --Toejam 14:44, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  14. Keep --LH779 08:42, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
  15. Keep - I say this as a zombie. Alternatively, instead of looking outside, survivors can hear the shuffling/groaning/etc of the zombies outside, giving a more qualitative measurement. Or, look out a window, and see "one", "a few", "many", or "a horde" of zombies, rather than an exact number. Maybe also proportional to cade levels - an EHB barricade prevents you from being able to spot just a few zombies, for example? TastyNougat 19:10, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. I said on discussion, you are right. It's X-Ray vision. Another thing I said was "I also believe the windows are barricaded." --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 11:02, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
    • Then we said about free running in and out via the windows/roof. Alternatly you could be looking out the 3rd/4th floor window. --Kamikazie-Bunny 12:55, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. Axe Hack - What he said ^, except that I wasn't on discussion. -- Cheese 12:46, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  3. Kill I'd rather not have X-ray vision--CorndogheroT-S-Z 13:36, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  4. Kill A very balanced suggestion, but its xray. But the closest one ive voted on. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 17:52, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  5. Kill/Change You may not see everyone outside looking through a window. Add some random error and I'll vote keep (and don't care about X-ray-spam-zealots below). --  19:31, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  6. Kill As Axe Hack's "Windows are Barricaded" kill.--Trav 20:18, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  7. Kill/Change - In my opinion, this skill shouldn't be allowed to work on buildings that are Heavily Barricaded and above, because by this point the windows are probably barricaded as well, and the amount of furniture and plywood on the walls would limit what can be heard outside to almost nil. --Private Mark 13:46, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
  8. What do you get to see?--Pesatyel 07:40, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
  9. Kill - Im sorry, but I do agree that this is an "X-ray vision" type suggestion. I can't bring myself to vote "spam" however, as it's just not in me to be an asshole.--Dr Doom86 10:23, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
  10. Kill - Yeah, X-ray. Also, making decoy buildings is a fairly effective survivor tactic that would be rendered useless. I wouldn't like zombies or humans to have this. --KF 23:08, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
  11. Kill - I loathe this pitiful, dreadful suggestion. *Crawls into dark cave growling* --The Gecko PKer 17:49, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. spam this outta here -- You typed: "Please stick suggestions for improvements at the bottom, after all this is for developing not voting." So, why is it here and not in help/development?? That's my reason for auto-spamming ... --WanYao 11:13, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
    • My mistake, copied most of it from the version on the discussion page, guess I forgot to remove that part out. --Kamikazie-Bunny 12:47, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. Spam - X-Ray vision, plus incomplete. Get it voted down in discussion first, please. - Headshot Hal 11:37, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
    • How is it incomplete? It is in discussion, check the page, about 3/4 down. --Kamikazie-Bunny 12:57, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
      • OK, Then. Just X-Ray vision. Still spam. Get it voted down here if you like. - Headshot Hal 16:41, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  3. Spam - It's just simple x-ray vision. Binoculars are bad enough -- boxy talki 11:46 3 March 2008 (BST)
  4. No X-Ray Vision! - I don't care what excuse you use, I will have none of this. X-Ray vision=BAD --/~Rakuen~\Talk Domo.gif I Still Love Grim 15:55, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  5. Spam - X-Ray Vision. Dur.  Billy Club Thorton  T!  RR  16:16, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  6. Spam - no significiant changes from beyond x-ray concept, sorry... --~~~~ [talk] 00:36, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
  7. Spam - You said yourself that it's X-Ray vision. Why even submit it? --FrozenFlame 00:54, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
    • It is possible to create a good version of X-Ray, Voting spam on a suggestion because of its origins is like saying someone is bad because of where they come from (I'm not comparing racists to spammers, although...). I don't care for the people who vote spam just because of what it is. If they say they don't want it or don't like it I'll listen; even more so if they give a reason or suggestion. --Kamikazie-Bunny 13:06, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
  8. Spam - unbalanced X-Ray Vision. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 17:59, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
  9. Spam - As Funt.--Carnexhat 21:51, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
  10. Dupe/Spam - The window thing has been suggested repeatedly and knocked down. As for the listening, it's WAY too powerful, as in game-breaking.--Kolechovski 03:52, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
  11. Spam like this suggestion, this vote is currently under development--Scotw 23:21, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
  12. DUPE - XRAY VISION. WE'VE SEEN THIS SUGGESTION OVER AND OVER AGAIN. STOP SUGGESTING THIS BULLSHIT. NO ONE WANTS IT. -Downinflames 18:29, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
