20080830 Lithe

Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 22:00, 30 August 2008 (BST)

Suggestion type
New Survivor skill (Civilian).

Suggestion scope
Crossover skill: affects both survivor and zombie aspect.

Suggestion description
Lithe: easily bent or flexed; characterized by easy flexibility and grace; athletically slim.

  • Taking this skill reduces a character's HP by 10.
    • For a survivor with Free Running, this allows entry from the street into Heavily Barricaded (or less) buildings.
      • (The combination of Free Running ability, coupled with smaller size and increased flexibility, allows them to find openings others cannot.)
    • For a zombie with Memories of Life and Lurching Gait, this allows entry into Loosely Barricaded buildings.
      • (Knowing more about their surroundings, and being more agile generally, these smaller, more flexible zombies can sneak through gaps that others cannot.)

  • Whilst a crossover skill, this may only be bought when in the survivor aspect of play (as with Body Building, currently).
  • A player may take either Body Building or Lithe, but not both.
    • If a player already has Body Building prior to this skill being implemented, they get a one-off chance to swap it for Lithe, the next time they log in as a survivor. This swap would cost 0XP.

  • This means that any given player will either have 40 (Lithe), 50 (neither skill) or 60 (Body Building) maximum HP.

  • (For the best game-play experience, a player should not be able to purchase this skill until they have Free Running as a prerequisite, despite that being a Military Skill.)

  2. Keep - Nicely thought out and balances out quite nicely. -- Cheese 22:04, 30 August 2008 (BST)
  3. KeepBecause its easier to buy a skill than having to cover yourself in baby oil. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 22:09, 30 August 2008 (BST)
  4. Keep - An interesting yet balanced idea. Keep vote from me. --ZiPbeep boopMH+LUE 22:10, 30 August 2008 (BST)
  5. Keep - I'll give you a keep, But I can't see this being of too much use.. I mean, It could be, But it getting implemented and used..? Then again, It is an option. 22:44, 30 August 2008 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - I can't see a survivor taking this skill and no career zombies would even consider taking a 20 point hit just to enter a loosely barricaded building when it only takes a claw.--Janine 22:17, 30 August 2008 (BST)
  2. Kill - Basically as Janine. The only benefit for a zombie would be if the zombie were a babah. But once you have MoL, there's no point at all -- in fact buying it hurts you. And as a survivor, again, there is little point in reducing my HP to 40 -- making me need more faks and more revives, more often -- just to be able to get inside a building that I can take a Fire Axe to, if need be. I mean, the only possible benefit is for newbies -- for cute, wee widdle babah zambahz unable to open doors, and low level harmanz stuck outside due to Fiddler's Green Syndrome... But as a new skill, it ends up not helping them out at all. Meh. --WanYao 22:56, 30 August 2008 (BST) Oh... and this kinda stuff, gentle sir, is why we encourage people to take their ideas to Talk:Suggestions before posting them for voting... --WanYao 22:58, 30 August 2008 (BST)
Re - to be honest, I think the speed and balance of the feedback here is far more useful than that on Talk:Suggestions. Having tried both systems (in my long tenure as a contributor to this wiki) I prefer my chosen approach to your suggested approach. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 02:04, 31 August 2008 (BST)
Well, that's why there is some talk afoot amongst the "plebs" of the wiki about a possible policy change to both this and Talk:Suggestions... Because, I agree... the system is pretty fucking broken. --WanYao 06:03, 31 August 2008 (BST)
  3. Weak kill - If it was you had one chance to swap next time you get to the survivor purchase screen then you'd get the keep from me. --Lt.G Deathnut | TheStayPuftMan 23:03, 30 August 2008 (BST)
  4. Kill - The fact that you could, for the same price, get Body Building makes the drop in practice 20 HP. A 20 HP drop just to enter HB buildings? No thank you. It'd be quite useless as most buildings are either at VSB or EHB, and I doubt that would change much because of this. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 23:20, 30 August 2008 (BST)
  5. Kill - The restriction of one skill by having another is kinda against part of kevans set up of having all skills available for everyone. And it isn't helpful, as wan yao, with the stats as they are. - tylerisfat 00:26, 31 August 2008 (BST)
  6. Kill - This is a bad idea and in many ways a nerf to newbies. If the little ones can't get through the barricades and the big ones don't need to destroy the barricades anymore you're just encouraging making the environment harder on the little ones. Same goes for what this will do to the average level of enter-able buildings. Nothing good comes from encouraging more discrimination against the un-leveled, just look at how difficult it already is for them without Free Running.--Karekmaps?! 01:20, 31 August 2008 (BST)
  7. Weak Kill: I don't like skills I can't buy and, please don't mess with barricades. Linkthewindow 02:16, 31 August 2008 (BST)

  12. Kill I like the IDEA of it but...I just dont see it working with the current system. Matthew Armada 07:29, 31 August 2008 (BST)
Moved it from Spam to Kill, Because im a frickin Idiot who cant type properly at Midnight-Matthew Armada
  13. Kill - Seems kinda useless (as Janine). -- Galaxy125 19:28, 31 August 2008 (BST)
  14. Kill, encourages overbarricading because people in many cases forget that they are not the only ones in need of the safety a building provides. - User:Whitehouse 19:51, 31 August 2008 (BST)

  20. Kill - Those above got it. I hate lost skills and it's inferior to MoL. -- BioMech 18:38, 2 September 2008 (BST)
  21. Kill - It doesn't seem that beneficial. Why sacrifice 20 HP just to bypass 1 more cade level when a little decading can fix that anyhow?--Kolechovski 19:59, 2 September 2008 (BST)
  22. Epic fail - this idea could have been workable, but as is, it is poor. -20 (no body building, -10 for skill) just says Kill me, I R n00b. and loosely is just one cade hit away from door. Padfu-Zomfu 12:09, 4 September 2008 (BST)
Kill - Its too easy to find a ruined building to free run through to make this worthwhile. Also, a Z should still need open doors to get in the buiiding. Unsigned struck --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 02:22, 8 September 2008 (BST)
  23. Change - If you got rid of the "minus 10 HP" idea, I might agree, but as is, the drawbacks far outweigh the benefits. Don't see why zeds would need Lurching Gait, either, but that's a different issue. Swenswen 03:23, 10 September 2008 (BST)
  24. Kill - I liek dying! Seriously, walk one block away and free run in, it's not that hard, and I'm more prone to getting killed like this. It'd make kills from zombies and PKers a shit-load more easy for an unreasonable gain. So not worth it. --• LtZurSee slapped your nose with a newspaper for a heal from CORAM (0 seconds ago)AU 11:18, 10 September 2008 (BST)
  25. kill all the above have already said most of it... perhaps if it stacked with body building but even that wouldn't address the "Frag the NooB attitude that would result in everywhere being overcaded --Honestmistake 14:55, 12 September 2008 (BST)
  26. Kill - While I would enjoy PKing the idiots who gave away 20 of their HPs, I don't think that this should be implemented. As above. --JaredTalk W! P! 18:25, 13 September 2008 (BST)
