Thanks for that. Liberty 00:29, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- No probs, although I guarantee they find something to have a go at me for because of it. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 00:34, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

- This is the indication of the same type of bias they used to force J3D out of office, expect Wikigate II sometime soon. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 00:47, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- On second thought, I took the smiley out of my OP, this isn't funny. This is totalitarianism. --Pestolence(talk) 01:08, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- I don't have a problem with totalitarianism, I have a problem with hypocrisy. They're sysops, but want to moderate when they choose regardless of the policies voted in or the wishes of the community. There needs to be an entire changing of the admin team, with the new team understanding that they serve the community by following the policies the community has taken the time to consider and approve. Either that or a conversion to a moderation system as Grim was trying to do, their problem wasn't with Grim's system, but with the fact he removed them from their perceived 'elite' status. I'd actually favour a moderation system, but again we'd need a complete removal of the current crop as they are entirely unsuitable. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 01:13, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

yeah.--xoxo 12:13, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Why? As was proved by you tenure, if the current team dislike you, the changes you make or your community support they will promptly rally round and force through a demotion regardless of community consensus. The problem isn't the system, it's the people who can't be removed by a community they no longer represent. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 12:16, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah i'd just like to see their reasons for not promoting you.--xoxo 12:26, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- They'd rehash the reason Grim gave for not promoting you the first time even with enough community support, compare that to Hagnat's most recent promotion, you both had the same support from the community, except that you were active and contributing and he conveniently disappeared for most of his promotion bid, leaving three aborted policies that were only for show as no-one in their right mind would pass them. Result? You were told to sod off and he was welcomed back. You'll notice that he was specifically told to use the admin pages in his most recent promotion, when was he doing that in his recent archiving fiasco? -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 12:39, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

It is epic and it is 105 kilobytes long, according to the Warning: Internet Meltdown sign at the top. It makes me happy to see so many stupid people fall on their faces here. I just managed to crawl through the SoldierUDW funfest, and the results of it, particularily in regards to people abandoning Soldier, made me giggle like a small child. It also gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside, not unlike Chai Tea with a small amount of Irish Cream. I demand more. Anger more stupid people so that I may get my jollies! --DTPK 05:02, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

- Can you imagine some of the gems that'd be here if I hadn't removed the sysops right to edit here? As shown above however, it looks like they are setting up to randomly ban me, no cause and with the justification of "You make us look stupidz!", yeah, trusted users.... -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 01:05, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- More proof that democracy cannot be trusted, as people in large numbers are never right. Hey, people let me Moderate forums on Brainstock - that's a vote for the infinite quality of human stupidity right there. I know that if you were a Brainstock mod, I'd be conspiring against you. Not for any particular reason, but conspiring nonetheless. Possibly plotting and scheming as well. Mind you, I'm not altogether certain that most Brainstock mods and Admins aren't conspiring to have me banned...--DTPK 02:42, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Democracy? Where? --xoxo 02:44, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- The democracy we'll have to use to set up the Reich of Fuhrer Grimtler! -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 02:45, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- I personally was largely in favor of Grim taking over. Things would have run far more smoothly and efficiently. And he'd been burdened with all the SysOp duties, which would have produced fatal amounts of stress.--DTPK 02:48, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- You don't think he would have killed himself after losing his power and getting hit with the banhammer? He lived a pretty sad life - he had some fucked-up condition (I forget what it was) that basically meant he couldn't leave the house. --Cyberbob 02:55, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Why not use radios, cell phones, or metagaming? Swiers' already approved suggestion explains that already. In a nutshell what you get is:
- Ability to contact strangers (radio frequencies require prior agreement on channel, cell phones require you be contacts)
- Relevance - It's close to you, not from someone six suburbs away
- Less spam - Less range also means not hearing every jackass in the city, only jackasses in your immediate area.
- Mobility - Radios/phones require you be in a powered/transmitter equipped building, and that your suburb have a transmitter. Not too good if you're on the go, or in a dangerous suburbs where powered buildings get ruined fast. There's a reason in real life that police and firemen use walkie talkies during operations, and not ham radios or cell phones or AIM. That same reason applies here.
What this suggestion adds to the approved one is:
- Even less spam - Limited battery means spammers use up their charge fast.
- Ties it to generators - Balances it out. No free power. Transmitters and cell phones need a running generator. This doesn't need a currently running generator, but requires that you have spent 10AP per walkie while one was running.
- Makes power a finite resource - Like ammunition you'd need to store up walkie power, and be smart about when to use it.
