FAQ

  • What is a Bureaucrat?
    • A Bureaucrat (sometimes called a crat) is a user with the special ability to promote and demote users to and from administrative roles (i.e. Bureaucrat and System Operator) on Urban Dead Wiki.
    • Like other administrative roles on the wiki, Bureaucrats do not have any control over the game or its operation. Their responsibilities are strictly related to the wiki.
  • Who gets to be a Bureaucrat?
    • System Operators (usually called sysops) who are elected by the community can become Bureaucrats. For more information on how to become a sysop, read the Promotions page.
    • The wiki maintains two Bureaucrats at all times, with elections occurring every six months or in response to the demotion of a sitting Bureaucrat.
    • A sitting Bureaucrat can run for re-election, provided they meet all eligibility requirements (e.g. they're not inactive), with no limits on how many terms they can serve.
  • Who can vote?
    • All wiki users are allowed to vote. Users are eligible for one vote per seat that is up for election.
    • Sysops running in the election are allowed to vote for themselves.

Rules

Rules concerning the election.
  1. An election is started immediately upon the resignation or demotion of a sitting Bureaucrat.
  2. Both Bureaucrat seats are up for election every six months, on June 1st and December 1st.
  3. The election ends after two weeks, counting from the when the election is started.
  4. The candidates with the most and second-most votes win the election.
  5. In the event of a tied vote the currently sitting bureaucrats will decide between the tied candidates.
Rules concerning candidates.
  1. All active users with the sysops status are automatically declared candidates for any vacant Bureaucrat positions.
    • Users who are not eligible for automatic demotion by the Truly Inactive Sysops policy are considered "active" for purposes of the election.
  2. The Bureaucrats whose positions come up for election if said election is started under rule 2 of Rules concerning the election are automatically declared candidates.
    • Unless said otherwise, a Bureaucrat who is demoted due to inactivity is not eligible in the ensuing election to fill their seat.
  3. A candidate can retract their own candidacy at any time.
Rules concerning voting.
  1. All users have only one vote per Bureaucrat position to be filled.
    • This means that, in regular elections started under rule 2 of Rules concerning the election, each user has two votes. In unscheduled elections started under rule 1, each user has only one vote.
  2. Users vote for a candidate by signing under the preferred candidate's name.
    • Users cannot cast more than one vote per candidate.
  3. Users may change their votes for a candidate as long as the election has not ended.
    • Multiple votes at the same time will be struck.
  4. Sockpuppetry is considered vandalism.

Election Space

As I will be abroad for some 3 weeks and have a bit of spare time now, I will kick off the election for my seat a few hours early.

Start Time: 14:29, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

Eligible Candidates

A Helpful Little Gnome

  1. #Balance--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 15:42, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
  2. #VouchGnomes are cool and pretty tech saavy, also gnomes serve Lord Guthix Chaotic Good 18:46, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
  3. Three-way ties are fun. Let's see if Ross views it the same way. -- Spiderzed 15:15, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
Thats why I'm holding my vote. --RosslessnessWant to complete a dangerous mission? 18:35, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

Boxy

Can't tox-y the boxy. -- Spiderzed 15:25, 7 September 2015 (UTC) Boxy hasn't been active in 3 weeks, and that is something that bothers me about a crat. I will throw my lot with Gnome as the lesser evil. Also, three-way ties are fun. -- Spiderzed 15:15, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
  1. boxy ain't toxy ... what? it's late and I'm not drunk.--User:Sexualharrison04:55, 8 September 2015

Misanthropy

  1. The bastard. A ZOMBIE ANT 14:55, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
  2. Vote 1 Misanthropy. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 07:39, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
FFS, this signature made me think there was another mayoral election... >:( --Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 16:26, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
Ah, good times… and PSSH! Why would we hold an election when we’re already elected? All ears We now run on the far more efficient One Man, One Vote system. As Mayor, Jorm is the Man: he has the Vote. In his absence, it devolves to me; in mine, to Misanthropy, and so on and so forth down the chain… come to think of it, I think you’re in there somewhere. What was it… Home Secretary? Where does that fit in precedence, somewhere between Garden and Office Secretaries? ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 12:32, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
Below Summer Home Secretary but above Time Share Secretary.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 17:25, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
  3. He has syllables, and I like syllables. AHLG has more syllables, but it's not all in one word. AND THAT BOTHERS ME. ----RWSig1.png RWSig2.pngFoD PK Praise Rando!00:49, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
Wow. That's actually started bothering me now too. A ZOMBIE ANT 01:43, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
If you pronounce it quickly, it's basically one word. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 23:32, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
"Ahulg". Nothing to be done! 23:36, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

Spiderzed

  1. A spider in the seat is worth two in the bush. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 17:22, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
  2. 2-(?)Spiders are amazing and you have a templates with a picture of a vulture on your page, and i like this bird. But i agree i'm a newbie, i know nothing about this election anyway..just wanna vote.."CerVolant (talk) 10:40, 11 September 2015 (UTC)"
  3. It's always a close call for me between Spider and boxy, since Mis is Chaotic Neutral, which isn't a good fit for the 'crat seat, and AHLG is gone in spurts. Spider has been more active recently, so he gets the vote this time around. Aichon 19:41, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
Neutral nothing, Jim, I'm the BTK killer. Nothing to be done! 17:55, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

Ineligible Candidates

  • Rosslessness - Current bureaucrat.

Withdrawn Candidates

Aichon

  • Vote for Aichon using minor edits. He might miss out this time and be forced back into position. -- Spiderzed 14:35, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
    I don't skip minor edits. Aichon 15:03, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
And it was such a good plan, too! Bob Moncrief EBDW! 15:15, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
Kinda more reason why you should be elected, no??Straight Outta Shuttlebank20:59, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
Yeah...I tried the whole "being a 'crat" thing once upon a time. It wasn't for me. Aichon 15:04, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

I thank you all for the support, but HELL NO. Keep the 'crat seat away from me. Aichon 15:03, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

Elect him anyway, like Pope Gregory I. Nothing to be done! 21:20, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
I had to Wikipedia him. Yay for learning something new. Aichon 14:23, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

I did not suck that woman's dick I fucking swear. Nothing to be done! 19:21, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
I know that, you know that, she knows that, but the fucking tabloids, man… someone hadda go down for that, and having you fall on your sword was just the best way to move forward. Besides, it made a great first move in the ol’ Kansas City shuffle that had everyone looking away from you and… er… hey, whatever happened to that woman, anyway? ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 12:41, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
Oh, I dunno Nothing to be done! 17:36, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
