June 2008 Round

A new round of Bureaucrat Promotions is due. Vantar's Bureaucrat position is up for election.

Eligible candidates

A Helpful Little Gnome

  1. Probably the least divisive of all the current candidates. Conndrakamod TTBA CFT 02:00, 7 June 2008 (BST)
  2. AHLG FTW. --Kikashie Read the Dispatch! 02:52, 7 June 2008 (BST)

  7. Seems to have good judgment, and respect for other users. --PdeqTalk* 10:47, 7 June 2008 (BST)
  8. Gnome's first consideration is the wiki, and he doesn't let his ego get tangled up in that. Even in cases of extreme provocation from veteran sysops who should be mentoring rather than decrying new sysops as they learn the ropes, he has remained calm and polite in his own defence, and has developed his own style. He does not feast on drama. He does not attack those with whom he has a personal enmity (if indeed any such exist). The position of 'crat needs a level head such as this, to perform the function of 'crat: which is (in case anyone's forgotten) the single task of choosing whether or not to accept new sysops, based on the opinion of the community, and on calm and rational thought processes, as well as a knowledge of the inner workings of this wiki. Gnome is the only candidate that easily meets all the relevant criteria for this position. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 13:11, 7 June 2008 (BST)
  9. Gnome can has my vote. -- Cheese 15:15, 7 June 2008 (BST)

  23. Appears honest and not biast in the least. As President of Umbrella I hope members fall in in voting for this wiki member.--Jackson 23:03, 9 June 2008 (BST)
  24. Never give people who don't always have your best interests at heart power, or compromise the ideal to act their best. Understands the rules without needing to become brutal from this knowledge. --MorthBabid 01:38, 10 June 2008 (BST)
  25. AHLG works hard for the wiki, keeps his cool, is balanced, responsible and trustworthy. He also actually respects other wiki users. And it shows. Oh sure you could say he doesn't have the "experience" of -- for example -- a Grimch... But he has those other qualties -- the all-important "soft skills" -- where the other candidates fall short. Far, far, faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar short in Grimch's case.... As much as I respect Grimch on many, many levels, he is not 'Crat material. Neither is Karek, though Karek would be a much better choice than Grimch. Which leaves AHLG, and my vote for him is anything but a "least of three evils" vote: I fully support his candidacy. --WanYao 02:12, 11 June 2008 (BST)
  26. yubyub - Ezekiel UK 14:06, 11 June 2008 (BST)

  30. I like those in charge to oppose drama rather than cause it. --Jon Pyre 07:44, 17 June 2008 (BST)
  31. My impression is that Grim s already suffers from Big Fish delusions in a Small Pond. It would just be mean to encourage him further. Like being an enabler. - Fred Fredfredson 19:33, 19 June 2008 (BST)

Karek

  1. Surprised I'm the only one voting here, and surprised I am myself, as I don't think I was a supporter of his nomination for sysop. Still, having seen his work, I'd say he seems to actually research policies (both the letter and spirit) and so forth. Less obnoxious than Grim, more aggressive than AHLG - a good balance, presuming he wants the job. SIM Core Map.png Swiers 07:02, 7 June 2008 (BST)
  2. I've always liked ya, plus you seem to know the wiki in and out.  Billy Club Thorton  T!  RR  08:05, 7 June 2008 (BST)

  4. Yeah i gotta agree, he may not be most popular but he's clearly the top choice. Well my top choice any ways.--Bullgod 10:58, 7 June 2008 (BST)
  5. From what I have seen, you seem to know how to handle yourself better than the others. I agree with Swiers, as he lays out the description quite well. -- THELORDGUNSLINGER 22:27, 7 June 2008 (BST)
  6. Hard to choose between Grim_s and Karek but Karek has been more active of late, and I'm also not too sure wether Grim_s wants it.--SeventythreeTalk 23:36, 7 June 2008 (BST)

The job started off fun but over time I have grown to hate it. I came here as a janitor and somewhere something went wrong and I ended up as a 'crat. Being a Bureaucrat has ruined the fun of the game for me. My term is up and I have had enough, I'll make an appearance on A/SD from time to time but other then that I am done with the entire Administration namespace. Later all - Vantar 23:25, 6 June 2008 (BST)

I respectfully decline to participate in this election. I feel that I can contribute to the Wiki well enough as a sysop without needing any more authority or power. This does not stop me from any future bids, however, when I decide I do indeed want the wiki groupies and fame that the Crat position supplies.--– Nubis NWO 00:46, 7 June 2008 (BST)

Even assuming that I could generate enough positive support for a candidacy, I Have no desire to serve at this time. My real world responsibilities keep me tied up as it is and I feel that I contribute what I can as a sysop. Conndrakamod TTBA CFT 01:58, 7 June 2008 (BST)

Too busy IRL. --ZsL 06:21, 7 June 2008 (BST)

I'm an editor first, and being a sysop is an extension of that - and in my case, an extension I fill part time when it directly crosses over to editing. Being a 'crat has nothing to do with editing (that I can see) and so I'm neither interested nor qualified.
As for groupies and fame- um, who are the other two 'crats again? There ARE three, right?
SIM Core Map.png Swiers 06:56, 7 June 2008 (BST)

Put simply I just don't have the experience needed as a sysop to be a bureaucrat. Oh, and I think there's only two bureaucrats, Swiers - There was a policy floating around a while back for three bureaucrats though. I think it might still be in the pipeline.--SeventythreeTalk 12:07, 7 June 2008 (BST)

I'm withdrawing from this. There isn't a hope in hell that I'll get enough votes, plus I want to prove that I can be a decent sysop before I even attempt to take part in one of these. - Cheese 15:17, 7 June 2008 (BST)

i have no interest in becoming a bureaucrat. The only thing i see me doing is promoting akule and animesucks, aside from that it adds nothing new to my job here in the wiki. Heh. To tell you the truth, i am only withdrawing my candidacy to make cyberbob update his vote for a sixth time. :) --People's Commissar Hagnat talk - mod 02:04, 8 June 2008 (BST)
