20080311 Drive In Theater

Suggestion type
Flavor

Suggestion scope
car parks or empty streets

Suggestion description
This is a minor flavor idea. Why not turn a small number of car parks or street squares in Malton/Monroeville into drive-in movies? Basically, just amend the description to have a movie screen there.

Rather than powering an outdoor square just allow the movie screen to be powered when a specific adjacent building has a generator running. A random movie would play each time it turns on.

For example if the northwest corner of Hildebrand mall was powered it could also turn on the movie in a new drive-in at the carpark directly north. That would be a good location.

You'd want the hook-up to make sense. Having a drive-in connected to a mall makes sense, a police station wouldn't.

This would be a pretty neat if minor flavor addition. No need for it, but no need to oppose it either. If Kevan wants to spend the time on this it would make these locations a bit more fun. if not nothing lost. It would certainly make them more entertaining if used as revive points.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep Watch a movie while you wait for a revive. This wouldn't be too numerous to not be a novelty. Maybe five across all of Malton. --Jon Pyre 14:56, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. Keep - I don't see why not......--SeventythreeTalk 15:00, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  3. Keep/Change - without any "powering buildings" anywhere... just not working drive-in theater will do for me. Pure flavor --~~~~ [talk] 15:08, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  4. Keep/Change - Like it but I think you should make them novelty blocks so there are only say 50 in all of malton instead of 5 in every suburb....--/~Rakuen~\Talk Domo.gif I Still Love Grim 15:56, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  5. Keep Like it. --Johaen 16:15, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  6. Keep - Maybe they'll play zombie movies... --Hhal 18:16, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  7. Keep - I go to drive-ins all the time. Also, zombies don't fit well in the UK either, but I don't notice a lot of you spam brigadiers railing against them.--Heretic144 22:09, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  8. Weak Keep- I think it would be ok if there was just 1. If there was only 1 of them it would make it more interesting/ less of an impact. And it would be great if it showed Zombie flicks all the time.. I'd buy a ticket for "Day of the dead"--Airborne88Zzz1.JPGT|ZC|MI|E! 02:51, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
  9. Keep - Very cool--Jamie Cantwell3 17:48, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
  10. Keep - Lets zombies watch movies while waiting for a revive. this adds good flavor... --RayHanley 10:31, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
  11. Keep - Yes please. --Vandurn 21:39, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
  12. keep - I think its a cool idea.--Dr Doom86Phoenix2.gif T PSS 10:12, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill You had me until the bit about "no need to oppose it either." I can maike up my own mind as to whether or not there's a reason to oppose something. - Headshot Hal Talk 15:17, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. Kill - Drive-in movies don't really exist anymore. --Pgunn 15:59, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  3. Kill - Doesn't fit. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 17:50, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  4. Kill - As Funt. I like people to be able to imagine that Malton is wherever they want. Also, drive-ins aren't really appropriate for an urban setting. Would be nice to include on a new map though, if something like Monroeville is ever done again. But Pgunn, they do exist, at least in the U.S., but they're uncommon. --PdeqTalk* 17:55, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  5. kill/change while drive ins are dead a lot of pubs and city centres have big screens to relay anything from sporting events to just whatever is going on inside! make em so they show something other than movies and can be broken/fixed and maybe. --Honestmistake 18:08, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  6. Weak Kill - Malton is probably in the UK so drive-in movies don't suit it.--Studoku 18:38, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  7. killish - actually there was a small drive-in revival... but, yeah, Malton is in the UK (or a suburb of toronto?? ;P) ... where dirve-ins don't really exist.... and while there is a certain romantic connection between B-horror flicks and drive-ins... making this idea more in-genre than some might admit... still, i don't think it's appropriate flavour for this game. --WanYao 18:48, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  8. Kill - there are drive in movies in my town, but in most places there aren't--CorndogheroT-S-Z 19:11, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  9. kill - there are many buildings that should exist/be created in malton, we cant add them all --Scotw 19:42, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  10. Kill - Drive-in movie locations are extremely uncommon, and don't fit into cities very well. --ZsL 20:38, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  11. Drive in movies are pretty much nonexistant nowadays. Get with the program. This isn't the 80s. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:44, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  12. As Headshot Hal. If there is no reason to have it, then that's a perfect reason to oppose it. Oh, and why not let a generator be right in the middle of an empty area instead of being protected by a building?--ShadowScope 03:35, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
  13. Kill - As Headshot Hal. Plus, there are very few drive-ins INSIDE a city, most are on the outskirts due to the large amount of land that they require.  Billy Club Thorton  T!  RR  04:13, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
  14. Kill - Jeez, I'm no kid, and drive in's are a distant memory, even for me. Move with the times already! -- boxy talki 15:00 16 March 2008 (BST)
  15. Kill - I like it, but the flavour is all wrong. As Funt said, it could be in the UK and there are very few Drive-in movies over this side of the pond. -- Cheese 19:45, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Pickled Onion Spam - wrong flavour. Malton is arguably in the UK, arguably in the US. Drive-ins would place it firmly outside the UK. And drive-ins aren't particularly common in the modern era, and certainly not in the middle of a city. We already have cinemas. So, pointless, as well as wrong. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 17:46, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. Spam - Ach aye, Funt Solo, ach aye... --Officer 123satsitx 21:49, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
  3. Spam - As funt only ill have mine without the pickels.--Carnexhat 16:52, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
  4. Spam - As Funt -- Iscariot 18:55, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
