20080206 Allow pipe-cading when zombies are present

Studoku 21:44, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Suggestion type
Balance change

Suggestion scope
Survivors in buildings under seige

Suggestion description
The most recent update allowed zombies to prevent barricading by occupying a building. After the update was released, judging by the grafitti and radio broadcasts that appeared, survivors sought out pipes to use as barricades. However, this didn't (or according to Kevan shouldn't) bypass the cade prevention.

My suggestion is that survivors using pipes as barricades should not be stopped by zombies. This makes sense from a realism standpoint because running through a group of zombies with a pipe should be easier than trying to drag a chair or a vending machine past them. It is not unbalanced because it requires a one use item with a low search rate that cannot be found in malls and can only create one level of barricades.

Keep Votes

  1. Author Keep-Keep.Studoku 21:44, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
  2. Keep - Makes sense. Zombies wouldn't be as likely to lurch into your way if you're going to barricade with something that can also be used as a weapon. And it's only one level, it's not a very big advantage. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 21:48, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
  3. Keep - Keep things interesting. --Uncle Bill 22:03, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
  4. Keep - Anti Karek Spam Vote. Plus I like the idea, same reasons as Midianian. <---Is that justificated enough Funt? -- Cheeseman W!RandomTalk 22:11, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
  5. Keep Provides a slight use an item that exists mostly as flavor. --Jon Pyre 22:16, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
  6. Keep - Helps balance things out a little bit, and gives another use to the lead pipe of death. --Pvt De 22:18, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
  7. Keep - agree with those above.--Zach016 22:37, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
  8. Keep - Well, it's cool... BoboTalkClown 23:00, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
  9. Keep I Agree ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 00:00, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  10. Keep - Also gives pipes a tactical value for breakin control. --Heretic144 00:25, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  11. Keep - Though the zombies blocking barricades might get rolled back because of the dangerous decline in survivor numbers. --Cpt Masterson 02:37, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  12. Keep - restores some balance and finally creates a purpose for pipes. - Headshot Hal 03:26, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  13. keep - a pipe is lighter, and faster than crates or a vending machine, plus you could fend off zombies that try to block you with it--CorndogheroT-S-Z 03:59, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  14. Keep - adds some more interesting strategy. I'm all for fun. --PdeqTalk* 04:36, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  15. Keep - Survivor buff gets insta-keep. Omega 05:55, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  16. Keep - Because I like having an excuse to keep otherwise useless crap in my inventory. And lead pipes are cool. --Ms.Panes 07:25, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
To those voting kill, how about option 2: You don't lose the pipe if your attempts to barricade with it fail? --Ms.Panes 10:19, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  17. Keep - There is currently no defense against the latest massively overpowered zombie buff except simply blasting away at them and hoping that the rest outside don't come in. This would also give the pipe more usefulness. --Hhal 19:08, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  18. Keep - As above. --Diano 20:36, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
  19. Keep - As Midianian. --Viktor Suvorov 20:37, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  20. Keep ---Jamie Cantwell3 08:08, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
  21. Keep - Makes pipes useful for people with construction. --Toejam 11:10, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
  22. Keep - Gives pipes a marginal use outside of low levels. Choice is not a bad thing. Adept Omega 16:44, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
  23. Strong Keep - I was about to suggest this myself. It makes perfect sense anyhow. There's no reason pipes shouldn't be able to be used in the presense of zombies. Besides, it'd be nice to have them actually be useful.--Kolechovski 00:46, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  24. Weak Keep - The new cade blocking ability is horribly overpowered. There is no way survivors can win in a siege now, which just makes the game less fun for both sides. What happened to the old days of Urban Dead where survivors and zombies both had an equal shot at winning the siege? This suggestion doesn't fully address the problem, but its a step in the right direction.--Dr Doom86 04:35, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
  25. Keep As above Johaen 21:09, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
  26. Keep - I enjoy the creativeness, a keep of mine you have. --Alphonse Burr 23:57, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
  27. Keep - Interesting suggestion, balances out the tables. Good luck :) Ioncannon11 07:57, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - I can't see it being any easier to slam a door shut and wedge a pipe in the handle than push a bunch of crates in front.--SeventythreeTalk 23:26, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
  2. Kill - Takes away usefulness of new zombie 'cade blocking buff.  Billy Club Thorton  T!  RR  00:54, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  3. Kill - For two reasons: 1. It nerfs the recent zombie buff, which was needed badly. 2. It just isn't very believable - zombies do not allow you to barricade, but will let you through when you carry a pipe? o_O -- John RubinT! ZG FER 10:11, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  4. Kill - Damages the new zombie skill. --Z. slay3r Talk  15:41, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  5. Kill - Unneeded. Everytime I've been in a building where 2 or more zombies have broken in, I've been able to barricade up to Loosely in 2-3 attempts, without carrying extra equipment to do so.--Actingupagain 18:08, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  6. Kill - I agreed with your other suggestion that players with construction should be able to use pipes for barricading, but this goes too far. Carrying a pipe makes no difference on whether or not you can physically get to a door around a horde of zombies. --FrozenFlame 03:43, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
  7. Kill - Can't you survivors stop complaining about yourself and make the game fair to zombies? --The Gecko PKer 15:15, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
kill - just like when ruin was implmented... tonnes of suggestions to "fix" it... all the above comments notwithstanding, its too soon to be messing with it. --WanYao 05:33, 21 February 2008 (UTC) Vote placed after deadline struck. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 14:59, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - Overpowered, the only level of 'cades that is important is loosely.--Karekmaps?! 22:04, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
  2. Spam - The pipe for cading was introduced to give non-construction newbs a method of emergency cading, wasn't it? It shouldn't be used to nerf the new cade-blocking skill of the zombies. (I didn't vote for that particular change, but it seems to have enlivened the game.) --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 22:52, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
  3. Spam - As Funt --/~Rakuen~\Talk Domo.gif I Still Love Grim 23:07, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
  4. Spam - Look at keep, there we have trenchcoaters on parade. The pipe thing is to help newbies, not nerf the zombie cade blocking ability, which has made the game a better place. Cease they whining prattling and get back to work! --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 00:26, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  5. Spam - Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Will the blocking zombies simply look, see it's just a pipe and wave the person past like some kind of undead bouncer? Crap. --The Hierophant 01:52, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  6. Spam - Ha ha, no. As pretty much everyone in Kill/Spam. --Druuuuu OcTRR 02:56, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  7. Spam - survivor levels area dangerously low, there's only 1.5 to every zombie in the city! The Heirophant also makes a good point. - Bisfan 07:18, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  8. Spam - as as everyone above EXCEPT the guy directly above. ChrisForelle 21:26, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
  9. I am on a voting spree, but to make this vote valid, I'm in agreement with the above voters. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 15:32, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  10. Spam - Makes no sense. - Grant (talk) 05:57, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
  11. Spam - As Grim and Hierophant. -- Iscariot 14:56, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
  12. Spam - no, no, and just plain no. go ahead, cade the door with yer dinky ass length of pipe - but only if the zombie can take a chomp out of you arm while you're at it. i'm sorry i even read this suggestions, hence, it has been declaired spam!! -- Jack S13 T! PC 17:14, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
