Dux Ducis

Well howdy folks. I'm putting in this application because I want to be promoted to mod. I've done over 500 edits, and I've been active in the wiki for about 4 months. Some of my major contributions are maintaining the Chudleyton pages, such as the museums, motels and libraries. This is a little on-going project for me, I hope to organise most of the locations in Chudleyton and later on other suburbs.

  • vouch - i think this user could become a good mod. Never saw him around dramas, thats a good thing to take into account. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 14:42, 17 January 2007 (UTC) Against... 4 months seems to have been not enough... next time you say you are going to fix someone else mistakes, try not to make them. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 22:48, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
I haven't had such a good laugh in ages. --Hubrid Nox Sys WTF U! B! 05:12, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
and here goes 3 Odd's Questions:
  1. What Moderator duties do you see yourself focusing on, as a general rule?
Well, I see myself focusing on what I am currently doing, and expanding it further - that is, maintaining the location pages on the wiki, and fixing things when people screw up or screw around. Warning users of violations of guidelines and their mistakes would be another priority if mine. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 22:22, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
  2. How do you react to criticism online?
How would I react? Well, I am a student of history, among many other things, so i would kindly first point out that I would like to see evidence to back up a claim. If they were correct, I would kindly appologise with humility and professionalism. If they were wrong and creating slander however, I would harshly warn them (without going overboard nor getting personal). If repeated, as per the guidelines, they would be up for a temporary banning. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 22:27, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
  3. What is your current attitude to the moderators, as a group? --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 14:45, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
My attitude? I think the majority of the mods are doing a great job. This place would be uncyclopedia if it weren't for them. However, a few of them don't seem to be very active, and I would deplore them for not sharing the load that is placed upon all moderators. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 22:33, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Vouch - As Hagnat, except without the questions part. --Slice 'N' Dicin' Axe Hack 14:48, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Against - With Gage telling me about you having around 500 edits, that's too little to recieve my vouch. --Slice 'N' Dicin' Axe Hack 14:51, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Against - I think you could be a great mod. That being said, you need to wait. You haven't been here long enough. Sorry.--Gage 14:49, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
while he might lack in quantity, he has a lot of quality in his edits. 4 months is enough time, imho, for him to know how this wiki works. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 15:38, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Abstain - There's nothing on your contributions for me to vote "against", but I can't vouch for you right now neither. Not for any lack of contributions, but because I think you should be more familiarized with the Guidelines, the different rules of the different moderational pages and other wiki processes before applying to be a Mod. If you think that you can recite me the rules upside down, I'll trust your word and vouch for you. There has been a wave of newbies trying to apply for Moderational status, and you should prove us how you are different, apart from knowing how to manage wiki code (that is already a strong point in your favor). --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 15:44, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Abstain - Good enough edit history, just never seen him under pressure, or going against the grain -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 16:19, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Abstain - The contributions to suggestions is great and the work on the Chudleyton location pages is not bad as well. Dux is quite level-headed and I haven't seen any major conflicts or drama. However, he is just slightly over 500 edits and has not been so active in the other realms of the wiki. I think more time is needed to see more contributions made in order to vote vouch. --ZombieSlay3rSig.png 17:13, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Abstain - Dux, I think you would make a good mod; I'm not sure you're ready yet. I like that you sought out a mentor, but that was just a few weeks ago. You seem to have a pretty good attitude and a measure of calm and patience. This is IMO, of course, but I would probably give you a vouch if I saw more evidence that you've been active with the maintenance tasks on the wiki. Locations page work is good, suggestions page work is okay, and you're getting the hang of wiki code, but being a mod involves a lot of grunt work to keep the wiki running smoothly. -- Atticus Rex mfu pif Δ 18:19, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
The only reason why I sought out a mentor was to tell me the little bits and pieces that were not clearly explained or missing from the 'help' areas. I already have a good grip on the code, so I was asking q's along the lines of editing your sig, and advanced editing of the profile page. And I figured most of the fiddly bits on my own anyways. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:18, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
I have no doubt of that. As I said, I actually think it's a good thing that you sought a mentor; I didn't mean to imply that I was using that as a basis for my abstention. I abstained only because I haven't seen enough maintenance work yet, but I do think you're on your way. Everyone has their own preferred qualities in a mod candidate, and that's one of mine. You've already showed me you meet all my other criteria. -- Atticus Rex mfu pif Δ 19:19, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Vouch - I don't think you need to have OMGEDITS to be a good mod, like hagnat, its about quality.--THE Godfather of Яesensitized, Anime Sucks Yalk | W! U! WMM| CC CPFOAS DORISFlag.jpg LOE ZHU | Яezzens 18:57, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Abstain - I don't know enough about you to vouch. But on the plus side, I don't know enough about you to vote against.--J Muller 02:23, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Abstain - I'm rarely undecided, but I honestly don't know enough about the candidate to decide one way or the other. –Xoid MTFU! 04:03, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Abstain - I would vote aginst because I'm not that familiar with your work. However, that may be due to my own ignorance, so I'm going to abstain instead. --Reaper with no name TJ! 17:33, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
  • against get somebody else to risk their reputation and nominate you (not just vote for you), and I'll consider changing my vote Asheets 22:57, 18 January 2007 (UTC) Arguing with me about why I vote the way I do isn't exactly conducive to getting me to change, nor is it what I consider to be "mod quality". Asheets 00:37, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Abstain - You're a member of Project UnWelcome. I don't feel that a potential moderator should be a part of this group, as they would clearly need to help new users. --Dr. Frank Sloth Akule News - All The News That's Fit To Print. 20:45, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Against - Who? --Sir Sonny Corleone RRF CRF DORIS Hunt! 00:07, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
  • VOUCH What kind of mod will you be? Because of their position of trust I think moderators should express their own opinion but maintain a civil attitude. I don't know you that well but you seem to have your heart in the right place. If you promise to rule with an even hand and do your best to quell drama you'll have my vote, and probably some others besides. --Jon Pyre 17:58, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm definitely for what you have put there - I like to express my opinion strongly, however if I am in a position of responsibility, I cannot allow my opinions to compromise my responsibility. I'm pretty much against any sort of spats or stupid dramas (as I have heard that this wiki has gone through a few!), and I will try to stop or arbitrate any that begin. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 11:13, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
You sir definitely deserve a vote. --Jon Pyre 14:35, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Vouch - Seems pleasant, and he was pro-active enough to get certain people (*cough*) to move his bid down to community discussion, despite said people's inability to count vouches (*cough*). Would make a good mod...or something.--Lachryma 06:01, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Against - Something nags me about having you as I mod. I don't know why, but I can't vouch for you.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 16:11, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Abstain -Certified=InsaneQuébécois 18:46, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

So, what's happening here? It's been ages, and no one has touched this page. What is the status of my bid?? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 04:12, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

I guess we're waiting for a Bureaucrat to check it out and decide yea or nay. But they havn't been active on the wiki for ages. Maybe you should give User:Xoid a poke on his talk page to see if he's still taking notice, failing that, User:Kevan -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 23:38, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
yeah, I asked around and found that out. Hmmm, and Xoid hasn't been active since early Feb. Not one edit since then. Must be on holidays or something. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:44, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
i think we dont need to wait for xoid to tell us that your bid was failled, right ? --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 03:15, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Despite my not archiving this bid, consider it failed. I'm not too happy about that… Dux is a stand-up guy, by my recollection. I'm be leaving the bid on A/PM so my other message can be read as I've got to run.. –Xoid MTFU! 06:20, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
More like I honestly cannot be bothered with this any more. You might as well schedule a Bureaucrat promotions round and try to catch me on the Nexus War IRC server when it's over. Or wait for Kevan to deal with it. –Xoid MTFU! 06:20, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
So is this to mean that we need a new/two new Bureaucrats? Given that BH hasn't been taking action here either. --Barbecue Barbecue 06:24, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
One or two, yeah. I think Kevan would prefer one, but he can see the reasoning behind having two (backup, and all dat). --Hubrid Nox Sys WTF U! B! 11:43, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Can someone please move this into the appropriate category? Because,... you know... i don't want to touch it as it is my bid and all. It's been up there since the end of January, and people were voting til the Beginning of March. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:28, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
