Suggestion description
In every 3-D zombie game I've seen, shooting a zombie results in a spray of blood behind it as the bullet punches through. Now, since the Infectious Bite is transmitted via saliva and therefore probably most other bodily fluids also, I propose the following.
When a survivor successfully shoots a zombie with a pistol, there is a 35% chance that the shot will spray blood. Shotguns will have a 85% chance of doing this. The first change will be the addition of flavor text:
- You shoot the zombie for 5 damage, spraying the wall behind it with blood. They drop to 45 hitpoints.
This will increase the chance of the bloodstained building affect. If the zombie has the Flesh Rot skill, odds of blood spray increase. How does this affect survivors? Easy: if a survivor is nearby, they have a 10% chance of being sprayed with blood, giving them a limited amount of actions before they become Infected. You can see if a survivor was hit by blood spray by looking at their description - clothes will read "Blood-flecked", "blood stained", or "blood soaked".
"But wait," the observant reader will say, "that's already in the game". Yes, now changing your clothes can be a matter of life and death- contaminated clothing must be removed before you become Infected. If this change is implemented, all clothes will lose blood flecks, stains, etc., effectively resetting themselves. Onward, any blood hitting you from another survivor attacking a zombie results in the following messages:
- To you: >survivorname< shot a zombie, spraying your >clothingitem< with blood.
- To the shooter: You shot the zombie for 10 damage, spraying >survivorname< with blood. The zombie's rotten flesh absorbs 2 damage. They drop to 52 hitpoints.
The more bloodstained items of clothing you are wearing and the more extensive the stains, the higher a chance that with any given action you will become Infected. This extends to bloodstained walls and rooms in a building, affecting all contaminated survivors inside slightly.
Notes and add-ons: For a reference example, a survivor with a bloodstained shirt in a clean environment can take 25 actions before infection. Being inside a building with blood stained walls decreases the action limit to 20 actions. Inside a blood stained building with clean clothing does nothing. Neck items, footware, and headgear damage/stain status does not affect Infection risk.

Keep Votes
- Author vote. Ash Cianatti 16:46, 28 July 2009 (BST)
- Keep - It would be a nice addition to the game but I hope you have designed it so that the infected blood does not spread too quickly. Man why is everyone on this wiki soooo conservative on urban dead? Aka Paradox 18:55, 28 July 2009 (BST)
- Keep - I like, its not like clothes are hard to come across. Urgggggggh 20:28, 28 July 2009 (BST)
- Keep - Good idea. Gives clothes some real game meaning.--T | BALLS! | 00:46 29 July 2009(BST) |
- Keep - Let's give these Urban Pussies some real BALLS. --Cyberbob 13:30, 31 July 2009 (BST)
- Keep - Though I enjoy playing the survivor, I think this suggestion could be kind of fun. It isn't like clothes are hard to come across, like Urgggggggh said. The variety of clothing, however... BlackDeath3 22:45, 3 August 2009 (BST)
- Keep - Variety is nice. -George Zip ◆◆◆ 05:11, 9 August 2009 (BST)
Kill Votes
- Kill - Unbalanced and useless, zombies in a building already cause enough problems. Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 18:21, 28 July 2009 (BST)
- Because survivors are really stupid enough to stand behind zombies that others are shooting at, or anywhere near them for that matter. I might have voted keep if it only affected a survivor in a tangling grasp with the zombie being shot at. - User:Whitehouse 01:23, 29 July 2009 (BST)
- Its not even complete. The suggestion has 4 different "levels" of blood stains but STILL doesn't say how long one has before they get infected at each level. At best, I agree with Whitehouse.--Pesatyel 02:37, 29 July 2009 (BST)
- Kill - As I said before, this adds nothing to the game. People will just change their clothes, that's not fun or challenging at all. It's just annoying --Orange Talk 19:25, 29 July 2009 (BST)
- Kill - Clothes are flavour. They should stay as flavour.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 20:50, 29 July 2009 (BST)
- Kill - Just pure, overpowered, BULL!!! User:Armpit_Odor/sig 19:39, 31 July 2009 (BST)
- Kill - Not fun, just a random survivor nerf so that they loose HP and have to use an FAK every now and then -- boxy talk • teh rulz 12:51 1 August 2009 (BST)
- Kill as per boxy, she said it best -- 02:49, 2 August 2009 (BST)
- Kill Seems inconvenient, especially if you have a set of clothes you like, and took a long time to get together. Also, this seems like it would benefit Pkers instead of Survivors. --Justinbronze 07:47, 2 August 2009 (BST)
- Kill If there was just a 10% chance of getting spattered with blood when the zombie died of a headshot, I might vote yes, but then having clothes infect you is just... stupid. I don't want to throw away a kilt or army clothing (or god forbid have to get rid of the celebratory anniversary hat) just because it has blood on it, that seems seems... lame. -Devorac 05:53, 4 August 2009 (BST)
- Kill - The trouble lies in distinguishing between your blood, other survivor blood, zombie blood and infected zombie blood. Another problem is players without any clothes on (cltohing would have to be mandatory which is bad). Also focus should be on melee weapons (which would then be bad for newbs) which actually require you to be in proximity to the zombie (realism point). Spraying onto other players sounds a bit troublesome - zombies could start using it as an attack method (zombie spy hits and heals a zombie with infected blood). Could work as a slight deterrent for attacking a zombie cos you don't want to get sprayed. - Zig13 - 6/08/2009 at 10:57(BST)
- Kill - Zig just persuaded me to vote kill.--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 19:05, 8 August 2009 (BST)
- Kill - Not to sound like a nerd, but this kind of put me off considering Urban Dead follows the Romero formula and not that of an infection or virus.--Degree7 04:05, 10 August 2009 (BST)
- Kill I don't like the idea of infecting other survivors or other people infecting me. This is unbalanced and unnecessary.--Rohndogg1 06:08, 10 August 2009 (BST)
- Kill - as Ryvyoli. I will now go and think of chef boyardee canned goods. --Uberursa 18:44, 10 August 2009 (BST)
- Kill because I really like my fake beard and party hat. The choice and changing of character description should always be un-hindered by in-game effects. Also, don't do a zombie's work for him - there's a real joy in seeing someone go green before your very eyes. --Visible One 01:20, 11 August 2009 (BST)
- Kill - So you could potentially harm every survivor in the building killing a zombie harms other survivors? This breaks the "multiply it by a billion" rule: It would, effectively, allow a large horde to auto-infect a large portion of the survivors in any given building simply by breaking in.--The General T Sys U! Spam/Dupe Votes
- Spam - I really don't want my party hat to infect me, nor do I want to stop using my shotgun. - --Bwii 17:56, 28 July 2009 (BST)
- Spam - I'd rather not have area-of-effect blood spray, thanks. --Bob Boberton TF / DW 18:47, 28 July 2009 (BST)
- Spam - Not enough BALLS. If a survivor but dares to look at zombie blood, there should be a 98% chance of infection. If a meatbag dares to touch a zombie, zombie blood, or anything that a zombie has wanted to touch or dreamed of touching, then the chance of infection goes up to 100%. Moar. Balls. --Paddy DignamIS DEAD 00:31, 29 July 2009 (BST)
- Spam - Terrible suggestion. --ϑϑℜ 01:35, 29 July 2009 (BST)
- Spam - As Paddy. This is totally unrealistic. Just breathing air which has been within 500 km of infected blood should warrant at least 75% chance of infection. Actually getting blood sprayed on you is the equivalent of a headshot. --DTPK 03:52, 29 July 2009 (BST)
