FAQ

  • What is a Bureaucrat?
    • A Bureaucrat (sometimes called a crat) is a user with the special ability to promote and demote users to and from administrative roles (i.e. Bureaucrat and System Operator) on Urban Dead Wiki.
    • Like other administrative roles on the wiki, Bureaucrats do not have any control over the game or its operation. Their responsibilities are strictly related to the wiki.
  • Who gets to be a Bureaucrat?
    • System Operators (usually called sysops) who are elected by the community can become Bureaucrats. For more information on how to become a sysop, read the Promotions page.
    • The wiki maintains two Bureaucrats at all times, with elections occurring every six months or in response to the demotion of a sitting Bureaucrat.
    • A sitting Bureaucrat can run for re-election, provided they meet all eligibility requirements (e.g. they're not inactive), with no limits on how many terms they can serve.
  • Who can vote?
    • All wiki users are allowed to vote. Users are eligible for one vote per seat that is up for election.
    • Sysops running in the election are allowed to vote for themselves.

Rules

Rules concerning the election.
  1. An election is started immediately upon the resignation or demotion of a sitting Bureaucrat.
  2. Both Bureaucrat seats are up for election every six months, on June 1st and December 1st.
  3. The election ends after two weeks, counting from the when the election is started.
  4. The candidates with the most and second-most votes win the election.
  5. In the event of a tied vote the currently sitting bureaucrats will decide between the tied candidates.
Rules concerning candidates.
  1. All active users with the sysops status are automatically declared candidates for any vacant Bureaucrat positions.
    • Users who are not eligible for automatic demotion by the Truly Inactive Sysops policy are considered "active" for purposes of the election.
  2. The Bureaucrats whose positions come up for election if said election is started under rule 2 of Rules concerning the election are automatically declared candidates.
    • Unless said otherwise, a Bureaucrat who is demoted due to inactivity is not eligible in the ensuing election to fill their seat.
  3. A candidate can retract their own candidacy at any time.
Rules concerning voting.
  1. All users have only one vote per Bureaucrat position to be filled.
    • This means that, in regular elections started under rule 2 of Rules concerning the election, each user has two votes. In unscheduled elections started under rule 1, each user has only one vote.
  2. Users vote for a candidate by signing under the preferred candidate's name.
    • Users cannot cast more than one vote per candidate.
  3. Users may change their votes for a candidate as long as the election has not ended.
    • Multiple votes at the same time will be struck.
  4. Sockpuppetry is considered vandalism.

Election Space

Looks like none of us noticed that Ross's seat came up for election two weeks ago, so I'm starting it off today. Quick note for all of us: AHLG's re-evaluation is in another few weeks.

  2. Does he want to? If so, sure. --Janus talk 20:33, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
Sure, unless someone else desperately wants it. I assume we can still promote and demote people. --Rosslessness 20:38, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
  3. Don’t wanna be Ross-less! Then we’d be in a state of… waitaminute ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 23:58, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Ineligible Candidates

  • Boxy - Current bureaucrat.
  • Cornholioo - Wiki vandal.
  1. Hear me out. Make him a bear cat for one day, then taunt him forever about how inadequate he was at the task. That is, if he's still a thing. Is he still a thing? They never lynch children, babies—no matter what they do they are whitewashed in advance 22:29, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
Prety sure there's a cornyhole zerg sleeper cell just watching our every move at all times. ~Vsig.png 02:44, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Would it not be easy to just promote Thad? --Rosslessness 22:40, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

Withdrawn Candidates

Aichon

  • One advantage of being the first person to both realize that the elections are overdue and then post them up is that I get to withdraw myself immediately. ;) Aichon 17:14, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
Grr! Argh! *shaking fist* ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 00:00, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
We obviously need a new policy to stop this blatant gaming of the system! Grr! Argh! *shaking fist* -- boxy 08:51, 5 February 2015 (BST)
I'm inclined to think the system is working as intended. After all, this election is two weeks late. Had anyone else realized it earlier, I'd have been up on the block with the rest...at least until I withdrew, as I almost always do. ;) Aichon 15:42, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

Result

Spider won. Now we just need to find a 'crat to make it official... Aichon 17:58, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

Confirmed. Spiderzed is crat. --Rosslessness 20:16, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

I am not the crat that this wiki needs. I am the crat that this wiki deserves. -- Spiderzed 21:25, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
