The dead of Dunell Hills, The Dead of Dunnell Hills, The dead of Dunnel Hills

Why, it can't be! Surely the dead of Dunell Hills page was deleted just yesterday! But now it's back, and it brought friends! Request for speedy deletion for all three on account of the fact that, again, we want no wiki page and making wiki pages on behalf of those few members who cannot spell "Dunell" right is a travesty. Nobody in the group wants a damn wiki page, and nobody outside of the group really has a say in the matter. --Katthew 15:14, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

As an aside, the pages were created again, blank, because someone of the DHPD and/or moderator staff felt it within their power to redirect the pages/terms to their stub on the group, rather than requiring people actually look for it. This was a pretty shit move on their part, and adding the blank pages was the better option.--Gregarious Instigator 17:09, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

DELETE: Do these few problem administrators have anything better to do than concoct cheesy workarounds to overturn valid arbitration decisions and vandalize their own wiki? Addison Strack 18:35, 25 February 2008 (UTC) 18:34, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

In most cases, groups have wiki pages to tell a little about them, some have a short NPOV statement, maybe a group listing while others are quite extravagant. In your groups case, there really needs to be an NPOV, doesn't have to be anything special, about the group. A lot of people seem to think the dead of Dunell Hills is just a zerg group. Is it all that much to ask that there is a short little sentance describing what you're all about? --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 18:44, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

I agree with your sentiment, but I also think they just prefer to maintain a little mystery for a while, for fright effect. I think that part of the reason that they don't want a page is to emulate the mystery and terror which surrounded "The Many," which was their first incarnation. In that case, I think rather than an NPOV, they'd find a highly speculative article written in a hysterical, frightened tone of a clueless survivor to be the most appropriate article. However, now that a few personally invested admins have started throwing their weight around and making their own private pages to "represent" the group and squirreling them away in areas where they can exert complete editorial control and lock out members of the group from even editing their own group description page, things are clearly out of hand. I think any chance at a public, NPOV article went out the window as soon as these people in a position to lock out members of the group from editing their own page made it clear that they would exert complete and personal editorial control over the content of any page that was written. No content at all is better than that. Addison Strack 18:57, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep - pages can be expanded, if not by users in the group by users who edit a simple NPOV line or two about the group for the general wiki user to know about them. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 19:01, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
  • We don't want a page, and we don't want anyone else giving us a page. Are you seriously saying we have no right to not have a page? --Katthew 19:07, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Exactly that. You don't. Once a user decided to create a page about your group, it's there. There shouldnt be censorship in a wiki. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 19:10, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
  • I must be confused because I thought this was a ruling on the redirection links from a page that was already speedy deleted and two of its near doppelgangers, seeing as how that's what the title of this section is and all. --Riseabove 19:14, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
This is a totally ridiculous workaround and a redirect link allows the group to be represented entirely by a third party. Keep it as a blank page if you're that concerned about "the general wiki user" being able to click a blue link (protip: you're not) --Riseabove 19:07, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Quick question. You guys are not a sub-group of DHPD? Otherwise the redirect is entirely misleading. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 22:12, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Not a redirect no more, and probably best not reverted to one.--Karekmaps?! 22:25, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
Link 2 and 3: The Dead of Dunnell Hills, The dead of Dunnel Hills redirect the the DHPD sub-page. The first one does not.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 22:27, 25 February 2008 (UTC) Oop, there we go. Krazy is reading mah thoughts.
Ok, now that is done, would a member of the group add just a wee bit of content? A brief description about what you're about? --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 22:30, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
I doubt they will, nor do they need to. As long as people keep in mind that they don't want to actively recruit or such and the page should only exist for the purpose of stating what they are in game in a factual and neutral manner it will, hopefully, be fine.--Karekmaps?! 22:34, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Oh shit, did someone say precedent? http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Data/Heathers Very simple, their page is dead of Dunell Hills (covering any spelling/capitilsation) and they can according to the above precedent choose not to have a wiki page. Like the heathers did for abotu a year. It is ridiculous, how would it go down if I made /red_rum a redirect to /DHPD/killers/Red_Rum.

--Thekooks 22:25, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

The Heathers never objected. Besides which, here is a bit more UDWiki:Administration/Vandal_Banning/Archive/2007_02#Calliope_Grieve precedence for you. The dead of dunnel hills have objected, and so they have the right to have a blank page. Explanations can be given on the talk page if necessary, which is where non members should post stuff about groups -- boxy talki 02:52 26 February 2008 (BST)

DHPD/the_dead_of_Dunell_Hills

This is very clearly a deletion workaround of Deletions#The_dead_of_Dunell_Hills. Not only that, its creator was the one who originally requested the speedy deletion of the first page. Kept, meets no SD crits, Groups are perfectly allowed to keep informational resources on other groups.--Karekmaps?! 17:31, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
Appeal. How nice of you to allow an entire half hour of debate before stepping in and making a fiat declaration. It would be unacceptable for a neutral administrator to cut the decision short after so little chance for debate and fair hearing. It is doubly shameful for an administrator who is [b]personally interested in the outcome[/b] to step in and abuse his powers in such a blatantly self-interested way. Your administrator powers are meant to improve the Wiki, not to selfishly abuse for the advantage of your private group. Shame. Addison Strack 19:03, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
You're in Speedy Deletion, it's called Speedy for a reason. If you want a prolonged debate that's what Normal Deletion is for, Speedy exists purely for a Sysop to review the request and then to delete it if it meets any of the criteria listed above.--Karekmaps?! 22:37, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
You can call it what you want, that doesn't change the fact that it is the exact same fucking page. Or do rules only apply when it's not a moderator abusing his status? Oh wait, looks like you've got your own problems with abusing power, don't you? That certainly explains a few things. when i think of disambig pages, i think of two locations that have the same name, this is not the case. if somebody were to create a page for all of the factories in pegton, thats fine, but why do we need disambig pages? perhaps we could just illiminate the disambig parts.--Scotw 22:34, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Reuploads of Images with useless names

I'm going to begin sorting through the images here and reuploading those with useless and unhelpful titles as well as the ones with long titles so that other folks can come along and find an image they're after, as its pretty likely many have already been uploaded several times but under different names. I'll post the results below as and when I have reuploaded them.

-- Cheeseman W!RandomTalk 22:18, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Uhm. I'm not going to delete Image:1-army_of_darkness.jpg or Image:5139.jpg, as the difference for the reuploads isn't significant. Probably won't do Image:884sr0.jpg or Image:6oq46l2.jpg either as all the reuploads did was lengthen the file name and put the upload in your name instead of the original authors(which can actually make it harder for them to find if they are looking through their own upload logs or user contribs.). I'd recomend, at the very least, informing those people when you do the reupload or before(whoever the original uploader may be).--Karekmaps?! 01:49, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

  • One more Crit 4 - Made in May last year, blanked by author end of December.

Ok, fair enough they're all Crit 4, but I could give you the entire contents of Unused Images if you wanted. :P -- Cheeseman W!RandomTalk 21:48, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Deleted - the Helljumpers category page has been moved to Helljumpers -- boxy talki 01:37 9 February 2008 (BST)

And this asshat is at it again

If she does it again, I'm taking it to arbies. I'm fed up reuploading them just for her to upload more!!!! >:( It doesn't let other people use them if they don't know what they are!! -- Cheeseman W!RandomTalk 19:36, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

OMFG!! Two minutes later what the hell?! Image:52337963747a76a29b21d7.jpg to Image:WomanDoctor(Small).jpg. Thats it. I'm going to arbitration. -- Cheeseman W!RandomTalk 19:41, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Crit 3

Couple of broken redirects that I found with no pages to link to:

I'm assuming the pages they belonged to have been deleted as I can't find any trace of them. -- Cheeseman W!RandomTalk 20:20, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Yup, both were recently deleted as Crit 1s.--Karekmaps?! 20:34, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Crit 8

I meant for this to be a template, not a category... That's what I get for not drinking my coffee today. --Vandr 19:55, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

For Crit 8 it needs to be in the User Namespace, it is, however, both a Crit 7(author only edit) and a Crit 4(unused Category), and has been deleted as such.--Karekmaps?! 20:12, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Crti 1

List of images that I've reuploaded due to their idiotically long filenames.

I'll do more later when I have some more time. -- Cheeseman W!RandomTalk 18:26, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to make you do more work, but we also need the reuploads, and if possible please say which ones correspond to each other. Also, for your convenience, you can actually link images with an internal link, [[:Image:Imagename]], just put the :, colon, in front of Image(signifies main namespace, same trick works with linking Categories and Templates).--Karekmaps?! 18:41, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
No probs. Tis done. -- Cheeseman W!RandomTalk 18:59, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
All done.--Karekmaps?! 19:22, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Crit 7

Misspelling of what I wanted: Category:Images_with_stupidly_long_filename. I'm categorising images with long file names so they don't spam up the lists. -- Cheeseman W!RandomTalk 17:30, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Done and a better system for handling these files has been developed- Vantar 17:48, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Crit 9

Raining Fire - I've stuck the text on his talk page along with a WelcomeNewbie template. Tis all set for speedily deleting, apart from the fact that I forgot the speedy template which I shall do now. -- Cheeseman W!RandomTalk 16:26, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Done- Vantar 17:28, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Arbitration Archives

Content moved to separate pages for each cases, and links listed on Category:Arbitration Cases. Front pages only, talk pages (when they exist) should be kept, have it's content merged into UDWiki talk:Administration/Arbitration/Archive or moved to their respective cases. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 17:08, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Keep - Until links are fixed, or better yet, make them redirects to UDWiki:Administration/Arbitration/Archive, as that would automatically fix all the links(I think, I base this off of how A/G links work.--Karekmaps?! 17:36, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
