20071210 Snowmen

Jon Pyre 21:23, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Suggestion type
Holiday fun

Suggestion scope
The snow

Suggestion description
Snow but no snowmen? I suggest introducing a few snowmen items in all buildings around Malton. They would be a top hat, a scarf, and a carrot (maybe more things too). They would be found rarely and replace a small part of the % of finding nothing rather than lessen your chances of finding normal items.

Clicking the item while outdoors (while it snows) costs 1AP and uses it up to create a snowman with that object:

"Someone built a snowman here. It is wearing a scarf."

If someone else clicks an item it gets added: "It is wearing a scarf and top hat." If someone clicks a redundant item it'd say "The snowman already has that item." This only allows one snowman in a outdoor location at a time.

Snowmen have 50hp (as a joke) and can be attacked (but gives no xp except the 10xp kill bonus. Slaying snowmen should be for fun, not profit). The more damaged a snowman is the more horrific it appears: Someone built a snowman here. It is wearing a scarf. Someone has ripped off its face and part of its torso."

You can heal a snowman if you have a first-aid kit. Targeting the snowman gives you this message: "You don't need a first-aid kit to heal a snowman, genius. You pack some more snow on." This doesn't use up the first-aid kit, costs 1AP, and restores either 5 or 10 hp to the snowman depending if you have First-Aid or not. Alternatively, adding a new object to the snowman fully heals it.

Zombies can use feeding drag on snowmen if they are outside a building with open doors. This takes the snowman inside the building, where it begins melting horribly, becoming more gruesome and perishing over a few hours.

This bit of holiday levity has a macabre note appropriate for a zombie computer game.

Keep Votes

  1. Not in genre But no less in genre than the Christmas Trees and Holiday lights we're going to be playing around with for the next few weeks. I think this would be some great pointless fun. --Jon Pyre 21:24, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
  2. Begrudging Keep/Change - But only because I want to mutilate snowmen. They should take double HP, or only have 20 to start with or something, though. Destroying a snowman shouldn't take as much effort as killing a harman. --Druuuuu Oc 21:29, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
  3. Keep - Mkay. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 21:36, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

  6. Keep Not in genre, perhaps, but a great idea nonetheless. Funny that a man named 'Jon Pyre' should be writing a suggestion based on snow. Get it? Pyre? Pyro? Fire? And snow? No? --The Trichloroethane Potato SGP E! RQ! Winner 1! 23:08, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

And the christmas lights, two kinds of trees, and various holiday outfits don't? --Karekmaps?! 08:42, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Nope, I am not of the liking of this flavor --Ryiis 22:26, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
  2. Kill- You went too far in the features, if it was only a decoration that can be destroyed for 1 AP I would spring for that. -- BKM 00:08, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
  3. Kill - Too complicated. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 11:46, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
  4. Kill - Concur with Sockem --Pgunn 17:37, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
  5. Kill/Change - It shouldn't take that much AP to destroy. There should be like, maybe 4/5 levels- snowman in good shape, kinda damaged, more damaged, very damaged, and just a pile of snow (which slowly dissolves into the landscape, leaving no trace)- with appropriate flavor like you suggested, of course. Maybe different types of disfigurement depending on how you mangle it. It should be 100% success to hit, so only 1 AP to knock it down a level. Shouldn't need to have a FAK to heal it, should just be a "patch up the snowman" button. And zombies should be able to make their own version of snowmen, too- "zombmen". Only 1 XP, if that, for killing a snowman of the "opposite side". I like the feeding drag part, that's cool :) --Ms.Panes 17:39, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
  6. Kill - Realistically, snowmen take a half an hour to build, and 2 minutes to destroy. Your system pretty much has it backward, plus no one would want to spend that long outside with zombies around. However, as long as we're looking at adding winter stuff, how about "make snow angel" for 1AP, and it's covered up by fresh snowfall like footprints are?--Actingupagain 18:59, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
  7. Kill - Play Four Cities if you want snowmen and the like. --Amanu Jaku 02:18, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam Yes as the zombies eat my brains I'm making a snowman. Omega 21:30, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
  2. Bah, humbug - no, thanks. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 21:33, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
  3. Spam - Survivors have enough christmas flavor, only zombies should be able to make snowmen, after all they're the ones outside.--Karekmaps?! 22:00, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
    • Re I make snowmen hard to destroy because I don't want them destroyed. No zombie is going to want to spend 35AP smashing a holiday decoration. But if a zombie damages one a little then you have a gruesome snowman without too much expenditure of AP. The idea is not that zombies want to destroy snowmen and survivors want to keep snowmen intact, but that zombies should want to leave horribly deformed ones all around Malton. It'll be like a scene out of Calvin and Hobbes! --Jon Pyre 14:50, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
      • Re I couldn't care less about how hard snowmen are to destroy, I care about you wanting to add to survivor holiday flavor so much that you look to add something completely counter-intuitive just so that you, god forbid, come up with something that might be fun for zombies to do. Snowmen are outside, Zombies are outside, if anyone should make snowmen from snow while they are in snow outside cause that's where it snows it should be the people outside all the damn time who never get flavor additions. --Karekmaps?! 15:26, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
  4. Spam - As above. Also, the massive time wasting factor of this to newbie zombies would be a pretty bad nerf. Zombies should be able to build anow forts, and then snowmen inside the snowfort, and then a horde of snowzombies bashing through the snowfort walls and eating the snowmens brains. Maybe have one stabbing a snowman in the eye wiuth his own carrot. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 22:09, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

  9. Spam As above. Diablo 02:17, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
  10. Spam/Change – As Karek and Grim. Maybe if zombies could disguise themselves as snowmen, and bite people who give them stupid hats… ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 06:58, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
