20080318 Immunity to Zombie Virus/Permadeath

Harmans Suggestion description
Well, Game Rot is the flavor of the month here, so I thought I'll give it a whril, but make it balanced.

You buy the Scientistic skill Cure in a powered Hospital/NecroTech, underneath Necronet Manufracture. What this does is provide you with immunity to the zombie virus. Of course, what that really means is that once you are dead, you are dead. You can't stand up as a zombie actually. Your game is over. Pretty useful if you don't want your avatar to work for the zombie race. Let me repeat this again: Once you die with the Cure skill, you will not be able to stand up either as a Human or a Zombie. Your original character is dead.

However, added onto that is a 'respawn' command after you get killed. If you die, you 'respawn' in a new suburb, start off with all your default items for your character, and begin back at Level 1 with your default skill and class. You keep your same name whe you die as a Human, and you get 10% XP back, but everything else is wiped. (Oh, and you keep the Permadeath skill too.)

It keeps the zombie apoc feeling, in that you know that if you die, it's over for your character, while allowing you to keep your same name instead of going through the work of creating a brand new name for your character (in Monoreville), or waiting at a revive point (in Malton). It's like going to be a skill only Humans will take, rather than Zombies...in which case, it's the semi-equivilant of 'brain rot'...or 'hard mode'.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - This is good. --BoboTalkClown 16:52, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. Keep - I like it. Let's you basically start over without having to get a new name. --PdeqTalk* 17:41, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  3. Keep - I like it. To those doubting it: Think of COD4. When you reach the highest rank in Multiplayer, you get the choice of locking all the things you unlocked again and start from rank 1. Why? Because it makes you look cool. You could add a field in the stats page to show who had survived the longest with this skill. It really is like playing the game on hard if you think about it. No revives at all. -- Cheese 17:56, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  4. Keep - I like it. Not sure if I'd use it though.--Studoku 18:09, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  5. Keep - I think the author chose a bad name for the skill part, but I like it anyway. --Hhal 00:47, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
  6. Keep - This game is the easiest thing I have ever played, I have only die two times: First time by zed, seconded time by PKer; I plain on getting brain rot for my main character that is a survivor, so getting revived is harder therefore making the game harder and my fun. Anything that makes the game harder is ok with me! One more keep for you!--Jamie Cantwell3 06:24, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
  7. Change - I was thinking, there should be a way for newb survivors to easily respawn if they get killed during their first week of playing. (Naturally, no skill required.) It would save them the hassle of re-registering, which someone might not be willing to do "if my guy is just going to be killed again anyway." Or is what I'm saying a completely different suggestion? :P --Ms.Panes 08:20, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
  8. Change - its good but you shouldnt start with some of your xp but maybe there could be a way to keep track of how much you have gotten in all your lives Death7 04:08, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - No. You want your character to leave the game, just stop playing with it. Don't repeat yourself in suggestions either. --Pgunn 16:19, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
    Kill - I don't get it... what's the point?--/~Rakuen~\Talk Domo.gif I Still Love Grim 17:35, 18 March 2008 (UTC) Changed Vote... Pointless suggestions go in Spam....--/~Rakuen~\Talk Domo.gif I Still Love Grim 18:16, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. kill - blah --Scotw 18:11, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  3. Kill - i really, really like the you died->you're dead part, but absolutely not the "you respawn with 10%XP part" --~~~~ [talk] 20:31, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  4. Kill -Don't mess with the mechanics of the game--Airborne88Zzz1.JPGT|Z.Quiz|PSS 20:32, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  5. Kill - would encourage PKing, because people suck--CorndogheroT-S-Z 21:31, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  6. kill - I don't think it's bad enough for spam, but definitely useless. I'd never buy this... I don't even think the author voted keep...--KF 21:35, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
I don't vote on my suggestions except if it is on edge, like if I can push it from Peer Reject to Peer Undecide. The reason I don't vote is primraly because I don't feel comfortable with the idea of an Author keep actually counting. Just all. A quirk of mine.--ShadowScope 23:43, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  7. Kill - I like this one less than the other. --Heretic144 22:16, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  8. Kill - Agreed with Heretic144. Cheeseman's suggestion is a better one. Sorry man.--Dr Doom86Phoenix2.gif T PSS 22:26, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  9. Kill - I just don't see why anyone would buy it Jonny12 talk 22:46, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  10. Kill - You lost me at it carrying over to your respawn. I'd love it if it was a once off --Gene Splicer 22:48, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
If I was to resubmit it again, yeah, I'd probraly take away the 10% XP recovery and having the skill carry over. Eh. Thanks anyway.--ShadowScope 23:46, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  11. Kill - This reeks of Nexus War for some reason. Maybe it's just the fact that you don't actually die, you just respawn as a level 1 dude. Bleh. --Private Mark 23:40, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  12. Kill - Eediot, the game works in a way so that it's fun, not that "you can just play without becoming a zombie." If a single one of your suggestions was used in the game, I'd quit it 4ever. --The Gecko PKer 01:31, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
  13. Kill - Horrible idea. Just make a new character if you wanna start over at level 1. --Paw Teotwawki 03:53, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
  14. Kill - i like the idea of an optional 'hard' mode, but this game needs zombies. If people stop playing zombies, there won't be much of a game left. - Grant (talk) 18:43, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
  15. Kill Brain Rot works fine. ----Secruss|Yak|Brahnz!|CGR|PKA|800px-Flag of the United States.svg.png|EMLN|Templates|RRF|RFTM|Crap|WHOZ|Evil3.gif|MU|GN|C2008|Chippy.gif|01:59, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
  16. Kill A PKer's dream come true. Veto! --Tarumigan10:20, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
    Kill - is this a joke? NO WAY!!! this is a zombie apocalypse game, not a super mario world thing --RayHanley 04:33, 21 March 2008 (UTC) Improper signature struck. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:43, 2 April 2008 (BST)
  17. Kill And what happens when you accidentally buy it? And who cares about whether you end up a
zombie or not? Also, who really wants to lose all their skills? And lastly, what application
does this have to the game's enviroment? Horrible roleplay... "Hey Bob! I thought you were dead?" "Oh, no... I respawned!" Anyway sorry if this is a little too scathing for its own good but this I don't think this is a good idea. That's putting it lightly, too. Try again next time? Doctor How 16:43, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
  18. Kill "Hey Bob! I thought you were dead?" "Oh, no... I respawned!". Lulz.--Luke Skywalker 17:28, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
  19. Kill As some of the others have mentioned, this doesn't mesh with the game environment at *all*. This is a zombie apocolypse game - not just an apocolypse one. The zombies are not, and should not be, an optional part of the game. If you really don't wanna play on as a zombie after your survivor gets their throat ripped out, then just quit the game. Marjorie 04:49, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
  20. Kill This idea is pointless the game is called Urban Dead For a Reason and that's bectause there are zombies in it and in the end no-one will play because there are nothing to kill.unsigned vote struck.--Luke Skywalker 05:48, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
  21. Kill - If you like the concept of hard mode, make a character in Monroeville before it's too late. --Vandurn 19:58, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
  22. Kill- Poorly designed and overpowered with the 10% XP back, it is impossible for a zombie to get this skill and they have no skill that gives them XP. -- BKM 22:21, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
  23. Kill -- this is an unnecessarily drastic change to game mechanics. --Diano 23:45, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - Completely useless and pointless. Simply not loggin in will let your character disappear (and essentially become dead). As for starting back at level 1 with items, you can create a new character at level 1 and get items. This might actually be better, as you won't have a bunch of stuff you lack the skills to use. Anyhow, nobody in their right mind will ever use this.--Kolechovski 17:45, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. Spam - As above. Completely pointless. - Headshot Hal Talk 17:50, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  3. Spam - Shouldn't this go under "humorous suggestions" ??? --M4dD mUdD 18:13, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  4. Spam - Look at above struck vote.... Pointless.... As Above...--/~Rakuen~\Talk Domo.gif I Still Love Grim 18:16, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  5. Spam - Pointless.  Billy Club Thorton  T!  RR  18:18, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  6. Spam - I personally feel that any suggestion that prevents a survivor from waking up as a zombie should never go through --Trav 19:53, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  7. Spam - makes no sense. THERE IS NO CURE. or not one they're giving us. if there were, the quarantine would be over. 'sides, it's totally pointless, sorry. --WanYao 21:36, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  8. Spam - Man, and I thought people hacking your char and buying Brain Rot is bad enough. --Druuuuu OcTRR 02:06, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
  9. Spam - as WanYao and Kolechovski. --FrozenFlame 02:55, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
  10. Spam – Cease your inane whining, pink brain! Do not deny evolution – embrace your transcendence! The Rot is the Next Step! Fulfil your destiny, and join the brain brotherhood! ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 06:55, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
  11. Spam - no cure wanted here. You know, from a gameplay / player perspective, this is quite a good suggestion. Now turn it over to role-play. "Hey, Busta-Busker, you're that superhero fireman that can jump from building to building and is handy with a shotgun, right? Help me with these barricades!" "Me not able to help with BA-RIH-CADES. Me not able to CON-STRUC things. Duhhhhhh." --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 09:33, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
  12. Spam - Why is being a zombie so bad for you that you'd rather kill your character permanently than lurch to a revive point? If this were only for Monroeville, then maybe. I think the worst part, possibly, is that the permadeath skill would stay after you die and respawn, preventing you from ever deciding to be a zombie in the future. --Jasonjason 09:47, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
  13. Spam - No-one should have immunity against death. EVER! DS TlkDevW!+1 18:27, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

  16. Spam - So very, very bad. --Sonny Corleone RRF DORIS MSD MOBpr0n 04:39, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
  17. Spam - Discourages zombie play, would create a massive tide of level 1s when a big horde clears out a mall that gets all whiny about the number of level of VSB buildings, just plain annoys me, and does not allow reprieve like Brain Rot does. (very difficult reprieve, but reprieve nonetheless) --Howard Bentley 02:05, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
  18. Spam - Might as well paint a target on yourself for griefers. They'd have a field day with this.--Jiangyingzi 17:00, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
