To All Brave Bastards
It was a good run indeed, and I'm sure that we'll be back for a second round of glorious battle, but if you still bear the term "Blackmore Bastard Brigade" in your profile, NMC leadership encourages you to keep current with an active group, such as the Malton Rangers or C4NT. We'd love to have your input and services, survivors of malton unite! --General Lee A. Dickhole Malton Rangers 23:00, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
SO IT BEGINS: THE SECOND BATTLE OF BLACKMORE
hear ye hear ye, the triumphant bastards swept into blackmore and reclaimed it for themselves, the rightful owners. Flock to blackmore now, for the fight promises to be even classier than the first.. BEEYAH--dickholeguy
The Historic Greater blackmore address, and charge information
Dickhole guy's speech to the bastards:
Zero score and two months ago the blackmore bastard brigade brought forth on the shit hole known as ridleybank (and the inhabitants known as the RRF), a colossus asswhopping, conceived in scotch, and dedicated to the proposition that all zombies are created inferior to the humans.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether those bastards, or any bastards so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that greater blackmore might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave bastards, living and undead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that Ridleybank, under Odin, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the bastards, by the bastards, for the bastards, shall not perish from the earth.

Nichols Mall in Stanbury Village has been targeted by zombies and PKers to disrupt our logistics train to the Blackmore Building. A large number of Bastards have gone down to Nichols Mall to help defend it.
Back at the Blackmore
Everything is fine and dandy, just 302 zombies standing.
Major Super Breaking News
As of this day Blackmore building and several surounding buildings (including the revive points) have been overrun by the zombie hoard numbering in the hundreds. With perhapse a hundred more in the street laying dead. No survivors were seen in the nine block square and all the buildings have zombies in them shouting "Brahar!"--Dano 21:29, 13 October 2006 (BST)
Raise Your Heads and Stand Tall
Firstly, I think he meant Barhar!.
But secondly, and more importantly, do not perceive this as a defeat at the hands of the Zombie menace. Do not, even for a moment, feel that your courageous efforts were for nothing, for the suburb map alone tells a tale of the bravery of the BBB in itself! Had the Blackmore Bastard Brigade not existed, had you not taken the stand that to many was considered suicidal and pointless then the map of Malton would look very, very much so different (Mhm', though technically it was suicidal). The Big Bash would have continued, full speed, to plow through suburbs, but look what's happened to them now. Not only have their number dwindled significantly, but the RRF themselves were forced to bring back their Zombah' outside the 'bank for re-enforcements.
So once more my friends, know that without your efforts, many suburbs of Malton would not have had the time to rebuild or even prepare, that they so desparately needed. You halted one of the largest and most feared Zombie hordes that's ever roamed Malton, without intention on doing so! And for this, myself amongst thousands of other survivors all over the city thank you. I'm proud to be able to say that I stood and fought with hero's of our time such as yourselves... So god damn, keep those honorable, hell knowing, heads held high! Alliteration unintended and un nessessary ^.^ --Chopper 15:32, 16 October 2006 (BST)
See as many of you as possible on the 5th of November...
Status
2/14/2007 Aldabert Hospital was taken this evening by a group of 15-20 zed. 3 survivors, 10-15 killed. This building is key to Blackmore defense, it must be retaken!
As of the 5th of November, 2006, the Bastards are officially back in possession of the Blackmore Building. Praise be to the Valfather!
Origins
The Battle of Blackmore began when the alliance known as the New Malton Colossus moved into Ridleybank for reasons that seemed good to them at the time. At first, zombie resistance was sporadic, but as the Department of Homeland Security branch of the Ridleybank Resistance Front returned to defend the suburb it claims as its home, the fighting heated up. Gradually, it became clear that the NecroTech facility known as the Blackmore Building was to be the focus of the battle, and survivors moved into it to watch the barricades and prevent marauding zombies from ransacking. The dating for the beginning of the Battle of Blackmore is, therefore, somewhat vague, but the following post by Colonel Hannibal Smith on the New Malton Colossus forums, from August 18, 2006, may be considered as a starting point for the intense battle:
- Six zeds have broken into the Blackmore Building. I tried to barricade as much as I could, but I was low on AP. The Battle for Ridleybank has officially begun. May God have mercy on our souls.
As the battle progressed and the survivors survived, the initially fatalistic general attitude lightened up. A new band of brothers (and sisters) was forged in the fires of hope: hope that the dreaded RRF could be halted on its own turf, hope that survivors could look upon them as proof of human courage, strength, and above all, unity. In due time these starry-eyed defenders took a name: the Blackmore Bastard Brigade.
While the Battling Bastards are made up of survivors who are members of groups from all across Malton, several survivors have actually put the Blackmore Bastard Brigade as their group affiliation. They were first noticed on the group stats page on September 05, 2006 with 12 members.
The rest, as they say, is history.
The Name
Our name refers to both the Battling Bastards of Bataan and the Light Brigade.
The RRF seems to like our name too:
- "THOSE BASTARDS" - The Lurker7, Thu Aug 31, 2006 2:53 am
- "THose bastards better git offa mah property!" - npaturet, Thu Aug 31, 2006 9:24 pm
Activities
Barricading and zombie-killing are fine activities that build character and whiten one's teeth, but as someone once said, "Man cannot live on Glorious Battle alone." (Or was it "Man can live on Glorious Battle alone, but if he lives on Glorious Battle and mead it's even better?" I forget.) Revivification takes up some of our time, and a few BBB scientists, pursuing rumors that the Blackmore Building was the place of origin for the zombie outbreak, are burning the midnight oil in research. But despite all that, we still find ways to party - constantly. The Mead of Poetry is flowing, as is the Mead of Inebriation, with spontaneous recitations from the Eddas, general praise of Odin and other war gods, and friendly flytings with our honorable foes and each other.
Suggested Priorities of Activities
Many newcomers to the Blackmore Bastard Brigade aren't sure of what to do, how to do it, and where to do it. This list should answer most questions that they have, such as the location of our revive point, the location of our entry point, other buildings significant to the survivor cause, and other information important to Battling Bastards.
- Barricades -- Keep up the 'cades. They're the only thing that's keeping the zombies out. Even if zombies manage to claw their way inside, Put the barricades back up. Anyone who dies can revived and anyone infected can be healed, and doing those are much easier than killing a stream of zombies that come inside.
- Break-ins -- Kill the zombies who have broken inside to keep our deaths at a minimum. Make sure that you dump the bodies as soon as you kill one.
- Monitor Entry Points -- St. Theodore's Church (Ridleybank) (54,48; 1S,1W of Blackmore) is our current entry point inside the Blackmore Building. Before you leave the Blackmore visit St. Theo's Church to make sure it's VS or lower, as we've had problems with newcomers and saboteurs overbarricading it. Spending the extra AP to make sure you can use it to get back in may save your life. To get around this, we're trying to make Mesney Museum (55,48; 1S of Blackmore) as an auxillary entry point. Please make sure that both places are at no higher than VS.
- Revive -- Revive our fallen survivor comrades. We've established Margery Avenue (54,47; 1W of Blackmore), Gunningham (54,49), & Phillips (55,45) as our revive point. If you are killed, go there and you'll be revived as soon as it can be done.
- Heal -- Adalbert General Hospital (Ridleybank) (56,45; 2N,1E of Blackmore) is the closest source of FAKs in Ridleybank and can be visited to pick them up. They're needed to cure our Bastards of infections and with enough hit points to keep them from being dragged out. If the barricades are high and nobody needs reviving, head up to Adalbert to get a few FAKs.
- Ammo -- Blomfield Grove Police Department (57,44; 3N,2E of Blackmore) is the closest source of ammo and should be visited to keep you in good supply of bullets and shells. They'll be needed to kill the zombies who break in.
- Portable Generators -- Whenever break-ins occur, portable generators are the first target, making them quite the commodity in the Blackmore Building. If you're out on a supply run, do us all a favor and see if you can pick up a few generators while you're out.
Short-wave Radio Info | |
This group or location has a dedicated radio frequency.
Frequency: 27.04 MHz |
- Radio Transmitters -- Transmitters are most useful in letting the rest of Malton know what's going on in our building. It's also useful to let everybody in the Blackmore know, as we can only talk to the closest 50 inside. Transmitters can let not only the whole building but also the whole city of Malton know what you need to say.
- Resource Buildings -- While the battle is focused on the Blackmore Building, so many have come to our aid that we're trying to use our numbers to secure the other resource buildings in Ridleybank. Blomfield PD and Adalbert Hospital are our most important ones, as they give us the ammo and FAKs we need to keep in business at the Blackmore. However, Blackmore is the prize in this battle.
- Other Buildings -- Calling the buildings firmly under survivor control Greater Blackmore, it's our ambition to get all of Ridleybank to conform to a barricading policy more friendly to survivors to make it a more habitable suburb. However, such a thing is more of a luxury than a necessity and should be done only if none of the above needs to be done at that moment.
- For those with lots of AP, it is probably better to go to Nichols Mall, or any other nearby mall, to stock up if you have shopping and bargin hunting.
Greater Blackmore Life Battalion
Because of the number of PKers and GKers attacks in Greater Blackmore the Blackmore Bastard Brigade has commissioned a unit of elite volunteers called the Greater Blackmore Life Battalion. The GBLB are charged with patroling the areas around the Blackmore Building and Nichols Mall and kill any and all known PKers and GKers. Bastards who wish to take on more duties are asked to volunteer for this service to make Greater Blackmore safer for all survivors.
Forum
The Blackmore Bastard Brigade has become so mighty and massive that they now have their own forum. If you want to know what we've got cooking come visit the board. It was made to give us all a common place to discuss our current operations, chat, shoot the breeze, analyze ancient Norse poetry, mention tourist attractions around Thermopylae, ogle at Susan Lucci, and share together in similar activities. Any survivors are more than welcome to come visit them and discuss what we're doing in Ridleybank there.

And before you swing by, you might want to brush up on some of our favorite readings... we're a fairly eclectic group, and we like to invoke glorious battles of old (and some still to come) in order to rile ourselves into an ecstatic fury... Known Groups
New Malton Colossus
The following survivor groups are a part of the New Malton Colossus who have members currently operating in The Battle of Blackmore. It was the NMC who sponsored the initial invasion into Ridleybank and held the Blackmore Building until reinforcements from other groups and suburbs could arrive. While the Blackmore Bastard Brigade has no official leadership, the NMC has tried to provide some organization for all the groups of the Blackmore Bastard Brigade may effectively coordinate with each other.
Official Groups
The following survivor groups are officially part of or have sent support for the Blackmore Bastard Brigade. Official status is given to a survivor group by either putting the Blackmore Bastard Brigade Badge on their group wikipage or by having a member of their group post on the forum for the Blackmore Bastard Brigade. These groups have crossed the barriers of organizations and suburbs to participate in this glorious battle against the zombie hordes in order to make Malton a safer place for all survivors. Without them, this historic event would not be possible. To them, the NMC offers a million thank yous.

Participating Groups
The following groups are known to have members present at or near the Blackmore Building. It is unsure how coordinated they are with the NMC and the official groups of the Blackmore Bastard Brigade but they are helping the survivor's cause by simply being there and confer on them a million thank yous as well. All of us are more than happy to have them with us and consider them brothers in arms. And, we hasten to add, "official" status is theirs but for the asking.

Known Enemies
The following groups are known to have engaged in hostilities against the Blackmore Bastard Brigade:
- Ridleybank Resistance Front - Our most obvious enemy who pounds nigh-continuously upon our barricades.
- The Apocalypse Horde - Despite their tagline of "Claws and teeth don't need reloading, and you can always find them when you get up," this insidious, and possibly more dangerous, group of zombies-turned-PKers have attacked us within the building and have yet to respond to our challenge of honorable open combat.
- Red Rum - There are a few members from this PK group wandering around Ridleybank in cheap suits. Be careful, as they are PKers and not zombies and thus do not follow the honorable rules of combat.
If you're an enemy of the Blackmore Bastard Brigade, please feel free to add yourself; we always want to know who wants to kill us.
I'm a Battling Blackmore Bastard, and here's why!
Sandecker - "A zombie punted my dog off a bridge. I was in a glass case of emotion!"
Colonel Hannibal Smith - "I'm tired of the zombies thinking they can get away with their rampant destruction in Malton. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm hoping to keep the Blackmore Bastards going until the 5th of November. This is a chance for all survivors to let the zombies know how many will stand for how long against their menacing ways."
Rockby Quickfoot - "I'm here because it is quite a fun adventure. And anyone that knows me, knows that I like a good adventure. I was there when the Big Bash first attacked Marven Mall and devastated the Southwest. That's when I became a Ranger and retreated to Yagoton. Ever since then I've participated in the re-taking of Marven, and even got to witness the fall of Blesley, also to the Bash. I headed to Ridleybank to find a most memorable adventure. I've been here since the beginning, and it doesn't look like I'll be leaving any time soon!"
Sir Fred of Etruria -"I came to the zombie homeland for one simple reason: to search the dead for my ancient friends. In the Blackmore, a natural base of operations, brave soldiers had already made preperations for my search. To date I have found no Etruscans, Babylonians, or even Hittites. Yet within the walls of the Blackmore I found Literacy, courage, and honor."
Khane -"I always found the RRF to be somewhat stuckup, calling any and all alt abusers "zergers" even when completely wrong. We beat them at caiger, they called lots of different foul play, including unsupported claims of syringe increase. We beat them again at the same place, they start the same whole drama. Again in Giddings, you get the idea. So when I heard the NMC was moving down into Ridleybank I chose to not pass it up. This is about showing the RRF that not everyone who beats them is cheating, that even people that aren't zombies can say smart things, and that survivors CAN win."
Ron Burgundy - "Man, I look good. I mean, I look really, really good. But it wasn't always this way. A few folks and I were holed up in Blackmore way back when. We'd always get eaten and we'd wakeup in some Chinese family's house and they just wouldn't stop screaming. I don't know about you, but zombie-bite-hangovers are my least favorite. The Bastards at Blackmore are damn good at fixing those- and they've got to be! I've never seen mall siege numbers turn up for a NectoTech. This is a first for me and I'm damn proud to be part of it! I C4NT believe how far we've come (har har)!"
Vito the Don As the leader of The Corleone Family I was pushed around by large zombie groups. Over the summer i did crap for my beloved NMC because my compy broke so sicnce i came back, I want to do somthing.I'm giving back to my community so to speak. And since I'm the leader of The Malton Rangers i can now say,I'm here to stay.
Hec Scrivener - "I'm here because there is no place in Malton where people should know fear. Men and women, living, breathing men and women, built this city; by their love and toil it flourished. But then came the walking dead, who could do nought but murder and destroy, and for a long time historic central Malton lay abandoned, good citizens shunning it for fear of the disease that gripped it. But now we fear no more. And now we see that fear was our only enemy - for you do not contend with a disease, you take simple precautions, then cure it."
Rufio Rizal - "In order to fly, you need to have happy thoughts. Unfortunately for most, I'm a sadist and I get joy in causing others grief. I can't think of any better way of causing grief by pissing around in the territory of the most infamous zombie group in Malton. Dead vs Blue for life! Oh. You wanted a longer speech? Screw it and screw the zed. Bangarang!"
nimind - "As member of the C4NT i listened that it was people trying to enter in ridleybank and i can say proudly that i was at the begining of the siege. GO BASTARDS!".
Kris Nikolai - "Oh, hey, these guys have the Ace of Spades as their logo, too! Wait, though, their's is black, and mine's red and has a bullet hole in it! This isn't fair! ... T-That must make me special, or something. Yeah. That's it. So that must mean I'm with them!"
Darrien Creek - "Y-yagoton boys never say die...'cause neither do the bastard zeds!"
Tyler Whitney0 - "I came because I couldn't find any Wild Turkey in East Becktown, and the New Malton Colossus always keeps a reserve of scotch and mead on hand with which to reward/fuel its band of murderous thugs. Just the thing to keep an Iditaroder's axe swinging. Fighting the RRF on their own turf also seems like the best chance I'm gonna get to quaff deeply from the Horn of Glory!"
Endzone - "I'm free lance, so I get to do whatever the hell I want. I've been to every major siege since Caiger Mall, and I'm not about to miss out on this one! Its not stop drinking, building, and bloodshed and slaughter. And if nothing else, its a few more notches on my barrel."
I'm Rick James - "Cocaine,... it's a hell of a drug. Heh heh heh."
FirstMateStarbuck - "Where else can you read classical lit, and blast away zombies? Your 'Charge of the Light Brigade' got in my zombie! and Your zombie got in my 'Charge of the Light Brigade'--two great tastes that taste great together! The Blackmore Bastard Brigade."
Robin Robinson - "There's nothing finer than making the bottle go around, particularly when it's good ol' Scotch back from Hildebrand's, and telling tales of great entreprises while occasionaly striking down a zombie with my axe!"
Rog Prime - When I'm not out and about Greater Blackmore, systematically hunting down the various PK'ers that plague us, I like to hop outside and add another 2 or 3 zombie skulls to my belt. It keeps an old robot going. And there's no need to thank me, it's what I was re-programmed for.
Smithy Jones - I here because Ron Burgundy, C4NT and the rest of NMC really know how to throw an Ass-Kicking Shindig.
Lord Wulfgar - I'm a Battling Bastard because its a wonderful cause. To take Ridleybank back into survivor hands, now thats worth fighting for. Plus its a hell of a good time with lots of classy people. May Greater Blackmore never fall!
Squidward - "I got bored with everyday apocalypse danger, and decided I needed the rush that can only be provided by blasting away at the RRF in Ridleybank itself. That's damn classy. Plus, I heard the C4NT needed somebody to carry the trident."
EnglishMuffin - "I've always wanted to own a joint in Ridleybank, but the zeds kept me away. Figured helping the Bastards was the best course of action. Now look at me, I own something!"
Angelo P. "Padre" Romero- " We all dream such dreams, conspire to move mountains, to shift the seas. That's not what makes the world...it's all the little changes, happening at once. Just hold onto that"
Oddlots Domon - I was lookin' for a fight, I found it. Bein' a Bastard isn't too bad compared to the alternative. Of course, hacking away at Zeds with my trusty fireaxe is just the workout I needed.
Tirak McAlister - When there's so little left to believe in, when every other source of hope failed, there was always that beacon that was the Blackmore Bastard Brigade. A rough and tumble group of fighters who knew neither pity for the enemy, nor fear of them.

Trained to let shotgun shells fly
Trained to keep our revives high

Help us win in the Blackmore Bastard Brigade
The Blackmore Ridleybank Barricade Run
For those participating, the Blackmore Barricade Run is now available here. It's been moved because a few people asked for it, due to its being very, very long. Special thanks to Von Luthius, who took the time to write it, and good luck to all our barricaders out there- though you shouldn't need it, since most buildings are occupied already.
