Summary

This policy aims at changing the word Moderator to System Operator when referring to System Operator in all of the current and future approved policies and documents. Also the term Mod would be replaced with Sysop.

Why?

The word moderator is a misleading term to the actual position of a System Operator. The term moderator implies someone who is impartial, mild-mannered, ect, however this is not necessarily true of all of the Sysops all of the time on this wiki. As of such many people (especially newbies) may be disappointed when an Sysop is not moderate.

Xoid said:
The whole 'mod' thing was a misnomer. We've never had the power to moderate. The fact that arb. is a requirement to deal with people name-calling each is proof of this.

By calling moderators System Operators it would potential reduce some of the drama and unreasonable expectations that is caused from this misunderstanding.

Where?

This policy would affect all official documents, including the page name.

Changes in page names

Any page under the Moderation space would have Moderation replaced with Administration.

eg, UDWiki:Moderation/Policy_Discussion to UDWiki:Administration/Policy_Discussion

Changes in documents

Each official document ranging from the System Operator Guidelines to the Suggestions page would have any mention of Moderator replaced with System Operator, and Mod replaced with Sysop.
