DDR says he wants to step down after his 'crat term expires, to ensure he has no excuse we need at least another sysop so he can't renege on his word again.
Aichon does stuff. He speaks computer. And he'll be a more tyrannical overlord than Grim ever was. Vouch for him or your names will be added to the guest list for the new regime's holiday camps in Poland.
He'll be along shortly to confirm all this himself.... maybe.... -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 02:49, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- I'll accept the nomination, but, in the interest of complete honesty, I want to make a few things clear. I may be killing any chances I have, but I don't mind, because...
- I'm not nominating myself, nor did I ask for this.
- I intend to perform pretty much the same way I do now, though I'll chip in a bit with the admin chores.
- Basically, if I'm promoted, you can expect more of the same from me. I'm just a guy helping out around here for fun, and that's not gonna change. Real life keeps me busy quite often, but I have no issues with helping out on sysop stuff when I can. To be clear though, I'm not interested in having this become a major, time-sucking obligation, nor am I interested in having the things I've been doing out of good will until now suddenly become things that are demanded and expected of me regularly, if that makes sense. I'm also not interested in getting caught up in whatever politics are going on here. I think for myself and speak for myself alone.
- I don't want people to go into this with unreasonable expectations of me, but, if everyone is okay with the stuff I've said, then great. If not, I'll be happy to answer questions, and I won't take the "against" votes personally, since I wasn't looking for the promotion in the first place. —Aichon— 03:36, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- Objection, your honour! The candidate is reading from a prepared statement. Such things are against the rules of this kangaroo court, just not cricket and seriously reduce the potential mirth. I move that the statement be stricken and that the candidate be forced to make a new statement entirely in Death Rattle. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 03:39, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- Objection! This objection was clearly planned in advance in the event that Aichon had prepared an objectable speech in acceptance of the vote for wiki sysop. Objecting to objections might serve no object purpose, but my objection objects to a clearly objectable objection which might convince others to object to this clearly non-objectionable vote. Object object object.--Shank Case 03:42, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

And he seems to know how to shape the internet and cause it to do his bidding. Although, he hasn't played the original Fallout's. - Question Because I always do. Which area of the wiki do you feel needs most improvement? Oh and Universal Healthcare is pure win. As is the idea of Obama hunting down old people with a helicopter and snipering them in the face. Which I believe is some peoples definition of universal healthcare. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 09:13, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- Honestly, I think a big issue right now is that a lot of information is scattered around a million different places, some of which is up to date but much of which is not (there's also a related issue of important information being in difficult to find locations). It's confusing for newcomers and confusing for many veterans of the wiki as well, from what I've seen. While I'm not promising to go through and clean all of them up, I do think that working on centralizing various pieces of information using templates that can be included wherever applicable may be something that needs to be done eventually. —Aichon— 20:49, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- Question give me a couple of real life examples and you'll get my vouch. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 22:32, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- Sure. The big one that stood out to me immediately (simply because it's very important to newbies and has major issues) was search rates, since they are scattered all over, though templates are probably not the answer for them, so much as simply centralizing the efforts and standardizing the output in some manner. Policy and guideline documentation could use work, since some guidelines are only ever stated in a notification box on a single page, while others are stated in multiple places that don't always state things in plain English or even in a consistent manner. In terms of things that might be helped by templates a bit more than those examples, it might be possible to include building statuses in the various maps that are around and simplify the suggestion process (it's a mess right now). I'm sure there are plenty of other ways to improve things, but I'm speaking off-the-cuff here. —Aichon— 00:17, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

- Vouch - While perusing the wiki to check the extent of current drama I stumbled upon this promotion. While reading it, I clicked on the link up yonder that Aichon posted about anime and it lead me to something I have been direly searching for, for a very long while. Therefore I figured as a thanks I would give him my completely worthless vouch for his sysop bid. And may I say, you really should watch FLCL as soon as you can. - Abstain - The world always needs "janitors" :) and you seem like a decent choice, but I need to know whether you intend to be active in admin and policy areas (as much as you're able) and get a sense of how you'll approach these things before I can vouch. Thanks. --WanYao 00:14, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
- As I am able, I do intend to participate in those areas, and don't intend to operate purely as a janitor. I'm not sure how active I'll be around those parts, but I do not intend to be a no-show, just to be clear. As for how I intend to approach them, I'd say that I value consistency in application, common sense, and logic (i.e. apply precedents that are based on sound reasoning the same to everyone, follow the spirit of the law rather than trying to parse words, and work with my head rather than my gut). Also, I'm man enough to own up to my mistakes when I realize them or am called on them, so when/if I do mess up, you can expect a minimum of fuss from me. Of course, words alone aren't nearly as good as action to back them up, and since I don't have a history of regularly commenting on or diving into the drama, I fully understand where you're coming from with your abstention. —Aichon— 06:33, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
