This page is for the request of page protection within the Urban Dead wiki. Due to philosophical concerns, the ability to protect pages is restricted to system operators. As such, regular users will need to request a protection from the system operators. For consistency and accountability, system operators also adhere to the guidelines listed here.

Guidelines for Protection Requests

All Protection Requests must contain the following information in order to be considered:

  • A link to the page in question. Preferably bolded for visibility.
  • A reason for protection. This should be short and to the point.
  • A signed datestamp. This can be easily done by adding ~~~~ to the end of your request.

Any protection request that does not contain these three pieces of information will not be considered, and will be removed by a system operator.

Once the protection request has been entered, the request shall remain on this page, where it will be reviewed by a member of the Sysop team, and action taken accordingly. Once action has been taken, the system operator will add a comment including a signed datestamp detailing his course of action, and the request will be moved into the Recent Actions queue, where it will remain for one week. After that week is up, it may be moved to the archive (see navigation box below). If the Protection has been granted, the system operator should place the tag {{protect}} on the page(s) that have been protected.

In the event of a system operator requesting a Protection, all the previous points will apply, excepting that a system operator other than the requestor shall review and take action on the request.

Pages in the Protection Queue may already be scheduled protections. For a list of scheduled protections, see here.

Fixed the link, enjoy your protection request.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 22:15, 22 October 2009 (BST)
To clarify, by related pages do you mean the pages in the Dunell Hills Police Department namespace? What about the pages listed in the DHPD namespace? Those in the latter need to be moved anyway, and I imagine some of those redirects are extraneous. -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 23:18, 22 October 2009 (BST)
Holy jesus... What a fuck up... --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 01:05, 23 October 2009 (BST)
It's been a long time since I've been on the wiki so please excuse any formatting goofs. I'm the leader of the DHPD and I support this request. FmrPFCBob 01:50, 23 October 2009 (BST)
Indeed it is a fuck up...Since I gave up Wiki editing almost two years ago there was a massive change in the ways things were planned and the way they are done...with about half a dozen different people (some of them not even related to the group) editing without any long term plan or goal. So yes...any assistance in getting this shit cleaned up will be appreciated but for now...Lock it down. We'll get an approved list of editors together here shortly. ConndrakaTAZM CFT 11:09, 23 October 2009 (BST)
Oh and Rooster...Yes, BOTH. ConndrakaTAZM CFT 11:10, 23 October 2009 (BST)
I'll get started with everything in the DHPD category. Have to leave soon so at least I'll get SOME work done.-- SA 11:36, 23 October 2009 (BST)
Okay, so thats done. It also looks like I hit just about everything too. Anyway, you guys hunt the stragglers. I'll be back as soon as I'm done with stuff.-- SA 11:50, 23 October 2009 (BST)
For Clarification, Bob is one of three commissioners of the DHPD, I am one of the other three and I do not support a Lock of all of our Wiki pages. Conndraka is not part of the DHPD Staff or group Administration and this Lock was requested without the DHPD Members and other Commissioners being aware of it. If possible, I would like these pages to be unlocked so that we may continue our day to day operations. FaMzNeSS 09:19, 26 October 2009 (EST)
I'll admit to being very confused about this lock. Apparently it has something to do with a plan to copyright the group name. However this morning was the first most of us ever heard of it. Can someone explain why our pages suddenly had to be locked when they are used daily by the group to manage PKer lists and the like? Louise 13:07, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Conndraka is not a ranking member of the group he requested a lock on, and Bob is only 1 of 3 of our ruling body, and acted without the permission (or even knowledge) of the other 2. The pages in the DHPD or Dunell Hills Police Department namespace are used on a daily basis by members of the group for maintaining squad rosters, operations pages, warranted offenses (PKer lists), radio broadcasts, and more. Conndraka has no factual basis for requesting the lock. Why in the hell would we "damage" pages that we have worked so hard to build and maintain in the first place?!!?! -   HaliphaxTCS 14:16, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
How about this, as the guy who went through all the trouble to do the job in the first place, you start from the top, with all parties saying what the fuck is going on and why you guys are in disagreement and everything. I had two members of the group ask for it, with no dissent for days. So, if you want it reversed, I need more details. k?-- SA 14:24, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
This looks like a potential arbitration nightmare. I thought something similar to this might be happening. Louise, the idea of people copyrighting a group name to try and force a settlement to a dispute is laughable. The DHPD can't be copyrighted as it's based on the intellectual property of another individual to which they have no assent or control, any attempt for them to 'protect' their 'copyright' of DHPD will be laughed out of any court in the civilised world. Haliphax, what SA is saying is prove to us that you have the control of the pages. Show us that Conndraka has no position of power and that there are three individuals that control the group and two of them categorically want the pages unprotecting. I've glanced through the DHPD pages (which are a mess of mislabelled links BTW) and I can't see any rank or grade structure nor any indication of leadership. Prove to this wiki that you have the control and support that you claim and we'll happily acknowledge that the pages belong to you. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 14:43, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
This was done without the approval of the senior staff, Our group is spearheaded by three elected department heads and the squad leaders; Our recent wiki overhaul was done by Jim Extreme (An extremely talented, long time member.) assisted by group of DHPD officers including myself. All of these changes have been planned and supported by the group at large; furthermore, there is not one officer in our ranks who would damage this group's page to spite anyone, this kind of insanity is damaging our groups operations and it must be stopped here now... --Marty Banks (aka. Mundane) <DHPD> 14:39, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
I'd like to say that, yes, there isn't any rank structure on the Wiki. However, the message board that we use for Coordination has that rank structure listed. If you'd like, you can join our forum and be granted access to view the current leadership. www.dhpd.tk. --FaMzNeSS 10:49, 26 October 2009 (EST)
Sorry if I fuck up the formatting, no good at this. Iscariot, SA, so we can make your lives easier, what do we need to supply you with? I'm sorry you had to do all that work because of this fuckwit, really am, and I don't want you to have to toil too much more, but the wiki is essential to a lot of the functioning of our group. Thanks. --Gabcd86 14:51, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
I don't need to be thanked, I'm not a sysop and have done no work on this. I'm just trying to expedite a solution to an apparent problem affecting a group's access to the wiki. We as the wiki now understand that the DHPD is run by a three person council and that one of them has requested a lock (FmrPFCBob), and one of them hasn't (FaMzNeSS). That seems to leave the problem deadlocked at a single vote, perhaps if this third individual came forward it would resolve this. It might seem like pointless hoop jumping to some of you guys, but we don't know who's 'right' and who's not and in such a situation I'm sure you'd agree that it's always better to protect something until you're sure. FaMzNeSS, I don't think having members of the wiki sign up is the quickest way to resolve this, screenshots of the relevant posts might be easier as all members of the community can then see the evidence. You can upload images directly to the wiki using the toolbox on the left hand side of your screen. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! More of the same as before, really. Could you put these two links in a new section at the bottom of Talk:The Dead? That way, they become unorphaned, and The Dead's talk page is thus the best place to link them from.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 07:03, 8 October 2009 (BST)

First Siege of Caiger Mall

I would like the heading "===Survivor Critical Mass===" to be replaced with "===Survivor [[Critical Mass]]===". The link would make Critical Mass unorphaned, and would also provide further context to the expression as is used in the Caiger article.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 22:18, 7 October 2009 (BST)

I just realised that I made critical mass unorphaned with this post. But I'd still like it if it had a real usage.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 22:19, 7 October 2009 (BST)

UDWiki:Administration/Deletion Schedule

I need this page protected, and have the entire guidelines section switched by a simple template call for this page. Makes it easier to keep track when a new schedule is added, by whom, and to use this anywhere else in the wiki. --People's Commissar Hagnat [talk] [wcdz] 21:47, 2 October 2009 (BST)

One of these days you're going to get over your fetish for templates, Hagnat - or at least this obsession with doing literally everything without so much as a by-your-leave beforehand. I pray that day comes soon. Cyberbob  Talk  22:11, 2 October 2009 (BST)
