This page is for the request of page protection within the Urban Dead wiki. Due to philosophical concerns, the ability to protect pages is restricted to system operators. As such, regular users will need to request a protection from the system operators. For consistency and accountability, system operators also adhere to the guidelines listed here.

Guidelines for Protection Requests

All Protection Requests must contain the following information in order to be considered:

• A link to the page in question. Preferably bolded for visibility.
• A reason for protection. This should be short and to the point.
• A signed datestamp. This can be easily done by adding ~~~~ to the end of your request.

Any protection request that does not contain these three pieces of information will not be considered, and will be removed by a system operator.

Once the protection request has been entered, the request shall remain on this page, where it will be reviewed by a member of the Sysop team, and action taken accordingly. Once action has been taken, the system operator will add a comment including a signed datestamp detailing his course of action, and the request will be moved into the Recent Actions queue, where it will remain for one week. After that week is up, it may be moved to the archive (see navigation box below). If the Protection has been granted, the system operator should place the tag {{protect}} on the page(s) that have been protected.

In the event of a system operator requesting a Protection, all the previous points will apply, excepting that a system operator other than the requestor shall review and take action on the request.

They're scheduled...kind of, apparently. The schedule apparently never got updated after the suggestions system was revised to have separate pages for separate suggestions, so it still refers to suggestions using the old system, rather than how we do things now. Honestly I’m tempted to say I’m not sure I’m responsible enough for a templated sig, but really it’s not like I have to sign with that particular template, it’s just the easiest to fuck with (due to installed base).

In response to the wiki-breaking nature of Revenant's latest signature, the fact that he was told it was breaking the wiki by more than one person (including screenshots), the fact that he has continued to post using the signature, and the fact that he has been edit warring with those who are trying to revert it back to a non-wiki-breaking state, I've gone ahead and protected his signature as a temporary measure, and as a courtesy to him since he expressed annoyance at his election sig being used (check the edit comment on the first link above), I went ahead and reverted it to the signature he was using prior to that. Apparently at some point I decided to protect my sig, and declined to de-protect it before requesting demotion, possibly so as to make it less likely that I would change it.

While an amusing prank played on me by my past self, recent viewing of certain archives on a low-spec machine has made me realise just how much of a performance drain it can be in the right (wrong?) circumstances, and thus I request the page be de-protected so that I can alter it to something more suitable.

Due to the apparent lack of formal procedures for de-protection of a page, and the importance of this request, I hereby sign it in quintuplicate:

Hey guys! I don't qualify for sysop or I'd nominate myself and do these, so instead you get a return of my nagging.

• UDWiki:Administration/Sysop Archives/Spiderzed/2015-02-24 Bureaucrat Promotion is missing its breadcrumbs.
• Some of the old promotions should probably get archived.
• Might add more below if I spot anything.

I'm up, breadcrumbs were added, and I also added a link to his 'crat promotion on Spider's sysop archive page since it was missing there too.
