Shamblin' Crooners
I was doing a bit of clean-up when I noticed that there isn't much heard from these days in Dulston from the Shamblin' Crooners. I was hoping that you might be able to confirm the group's status. If the Crooners are gone I would like to take steps to have them listed as a "Historical Group" for their past accomplishments within Dulston. Let me know. --Mobius187 18:46, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- The Crooners are, indeed, still z!ng!ng and zanzan. However, the... nature of Dulston proves to be quite the hindrance to many efforts, if you understand. In summary, they have not been disbanded. --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 19:20, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Good to know, but might I inquire as to where they are at this time? I would be more than happy to render assistance by moving the group icon to any suburb where you guys are now performing these days. Then, when the Crooners do retire, be sure to bring up the "Historical Groups" discussion for Dulston (their home town). --Mobius187 20:01, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Still in Dulston, it's just difficult to make any headway in this area. Plus, we're not exactly a "lulz we destroyed teh harmanz" type of group and otherwise not very vocal (ironically enough). When and if such a time arises, I'll personally submit the group for Historical status. --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 21:09, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- My advice is to retire when at the height of your fame, rather than letting the Crooners decline. Maybe one last tour? Dulston is very quiet right now with Infected Swarm and Hel's Daughters away... your efforts would certainly be noticed and not mistakenly attributed to them. I hate it when that happens. Anywho, just an idea (and I'm pro-survivor too... so it just goes to show I care about Dulston's history ;) ). Be sure to let me know when you sign the Crooners up for Historical status so I can chip in my vote. --Mobius187 19:08, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

PK
To avoid wiki drama, I would like to discuss with you the following passage in
http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/PKer
Pkers are often called the "third" side in Malton, the other two being zombies and survivors. Although pking is frowned upon by survivors, this "frowning upon" of pkers is a role playing feeling, and not a genuine dislike for pkers. Pkers are welcomed in the Urban Dead community as they bring an interesting extra challenge to the game, the games creata Kevan stated that, "psycho survivors are a vibrant part of any post-apocalypse".
This was modified by User:Thekooks, and I am merely reverting to the previous statement over-written by User:Thekooks. His statement was not factual and is a clearly a personal opinion. I truly doubt that PKers are welcomed by the vast majority of players, or that the dislike of PKers is role play. I would also like to see a non-wiki source of both the "third side" and Kevan's statement. In most MMORPGs, PKers are considered griefers, and Urban Dead is no different, especially when considering the offline nature of the game.
--Chanb 11:49, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Perhaps they are disliked by the entirely of Malton, this is true. On your non-wiki source, I'm afraid Kevan rarely makes statements outside of the wiki, and those that he has, to my knowledge, have been limited in scope. On short notice, the best I could find was a statement made by Kevan on this wiki here. And while it may be true that PKing are possibly considered griefers in some other MMOs, I would say that UrbanDead is most definitely different. Kevan likes it, he considers it a valid part of the game, and it's not going anywhere unless he changes his mind. --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 20:17, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- I consider the statements to all be unfactual, with no place on the wiki, except on a page titled "Thekooks'POVs"
- "Pkers are often called the "third" side in Malton" - By who? Source? "Often"? As often as survivors and zombies are called sides by anyone who introduces the game? A more accurate statement would be "A small number of people consider PKers the "third" side in Malton".
- "Although pking is frowned upon by survivors, this "frowning upon" of pkers is a role playing feeling, and not a genuine dislike for pkers." - Obviously false. Is there any reason why someone who is a dedicated survivor would liked to be PKed?
- "Pkers are welcomed in the Urban Dead community as they bring an interesting extra challenge to the game" - Not true. Same reasons as above. They're not welcomed at all.
- PKing is viewed in a very negative light by the vast majority of Urban Dead; most groups disapprove of it and the only ones who don't are PKer groups, who are in the minority. User:Thekooks's statements paint PKing in a flattering light. --Chanb 23:49, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, but then you must run with the wrong crowd. Most of the people I have interactions with either already like PKers or the people who play them, or come around after a short while. I (used to) play a number of pro-survivors, and yeah, I didn't like being killed, but I could joke with the players out of character with ease, and we generally had a respect for each other. The same was the case when I was playing the role of the PKer. And yes, we are the third side of the game (whether or not survivors or zombies run around saying "I'm on the survivor/zombie side of the game!"). We are welcomed in many areas of the community, mostly just not in less-than-mainstream areas with survivors too focused on roleplaying and their definition of the game to recognize what we do in its proper light. Torec T-CC/CS/CS/CS 00:17, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Simply put, if pking was not an important part of the game, then it wouldn't even be an option for you to be able to shoot other people. There would be no point to flak jackets, or the Dulston Alliance. Pkers give you purpose--THE Godfather of Яesensitized, Anime Sucks Yalk | W! U! - Aight, let me try to straighten this up... I'll be comparing the edit made by thekooks to the one you reverted to. Now then. On asking the source of almost anything on this wiki, other than actual Malton events, is a sketchy process, and you'll hardly ever get satisfactory answers. Let me put it to you this way champ: This ain't Wikipedia. There are no citations, fact checking is done on a per basis, and frankly, there are always idiotic statements being thrown around. Getting a general consensus on anything is practically impossible, and no matter what you write, there will always be naysayers. The easiest to dispel anything is talking with the person(s) in which there seems to be a conflict of interests. Now, I've been playing for a while, although it seems not as long as you have, I've seen things, and making any statement while attempting to relate it to every single survivor group in the game is only asking for trouble. Why did I revert it your revert? I felt that thekook's version was marginally better. Was it perfect? Not in the least. Why didn't I personally edit the page as I thought it should be? I didn't feel like, although now it seems I may have to intervene. But really now, the last statement you made was the clencher on just how narrow minded your views are.

- "The only ones who don't are PKer groups." One, you didn't take into account zombie groups in that, but I'll ignore that as I assume that you implied strictly survivor groups. There are many groups that, although they may not like PKing, accept it as a part of the game. Heck, you'd be surprised just how many dogooders have a slightly more manic alter ego. All I'm saying is, try to be more open. You might actually enjoy what you find. --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 00:30, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- This is the most impartial and unbiased opinion I have ever seen. The way you analyze the PK situation from all available angles to arrive at the one true conclusion is absolutely remarkable. You have shown me the light. Never again shall I raise my weapons against fellow survivors. I only hope this is the first step towards sharing your enlightenment. -- Laughing Man 02:01, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- I admit being biased. I also admit missing out points. I'm not trying to write an article with clauses and points of interest and footnotes. I'm trying my best to be brief without igniting stupid amounts of drama. I'm also trying to be convincing. Pointing out any problems with my efforts should be your role, not mine. My problem is that I don't believe that the "this "frowning upon" of pkers is a role playing feeling". I have an alt who PKs. I talk with PKer friends. This doesn't blind me to the fact that when you get attacked for being a PKer it's not role play. When there are radio messages alerting the presence of a PKer, it's not role play. When there is a major effort to carve out in-game PKer territory, the swarms of zombies and survivors attacking us aren't role playing. When we have survivors trying to hunt and punish us it's not role play. Who tries to punish a zombie player?
- If I claimed that the actions against zombie players weren't role play, I would be called an absolute moron at best. Doesn't the fact that I haven't received the same response imply, at least, I am partially right? The worst I've recieved is some sarcasm and an accusation of closed-mindedness.
- PKing implies being a survivor to achieve your aims. Does the Big Bash or RRF mostly kill survivors with guns? They would hardly be a zombie group if they were survivors for a significant amount of the time. That would defeat the point. A zombie group expects its members to play as zombies and not as PKers. The members expect the group to be composed of mostly zombies and their aims achieved through zombie means. Those members that are dedicated PKers are almost invariably part of a subsection which operates more as an semi independent PKer group. Yes. I know this point is subtle. Please don't explode at me for trying to make something that is a hard point to make.

Huh?
You edited my post on the Gulsonside events page, cutting it in half. I don't remember there being any length restrictions on suburb pages, so what's up with that? In the email notification I received was this message:
Editor's summary: Well written, but far too many weasel words
Weasel words? I'm not sure what that means. I would think it was more Shatner-esque than anything else: overly dramatic but somehow poignant. I'm putting it back the way it was as I think it was a decent motivational speech to get more survivors into the fight. If there is a legitimate reason why this should be pared down, please enlighten me. --Stickman 19:19, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- Bah, nevermind. It seems there is little room for discussion on this matter. I will acquiesce.
- Not at all. If there are ever any issues with my editing, I wish for them to be discussed in an open manner. My reason for my edit to your update is thus: All suburb pages are to be of a NPOV format. Your plea for survivors to continue fighting onwards shows an obvious inclination towards one side, survivors, over the other(s), especially your use of "we," which shows that you identify with the survivors as a collective, at least in this conflict. I am always willing to discuss my edits. Also, I see that you have already spoken with WanYao, and I agree with his assessment. Your writing was very good and is something I greatly encourage, but certain guidelines must be adhered to. --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 20:49, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

This isn't at all wiki related but has more to do with the game itself and I was hoping you could help me. A request
Good evening. I was browsing the list of double redirects and noticed that the vast majority are related to the DHPD. Would you be willing to work on correctly directing some of those pages? I'm willing to do it, but I figured that since you are with the DHPD you might wish to have some input. Thanks! --Pedentic 01:45, 13 September 2007 (BST)
- Ah, I see. I just recently redirected all DHPD talk pages to the main talk page (so that comments didn't fall through the cracks) and I didn't think of this. Am I an idiot?
OK just logged on again for the first time in a while and saw your message. Thanks for the heads-up, but I don't get what it is I'm doing wrong/not doing! I've checked the box for signatures and put my signature in like you told me to, in fact I did that before the last batch of edits I did, after which you told me I was still doing it wrong. So when I use the sig button in posts it gives this: --Not Invented Here 22:33, 12 September 2007 (BST) So what else am I supposed to be doing? or doing differently? Thanks --Tom Thumb
- Are you sure you have in your box just Tom Thumb? And that's it? I have The Surgeon General currently for the purpose of this question (and no, you are not an idiot), and I get this: :--The Surgeon General 02:35, 13 September 2007 (BST)
- And that's all. If you are still having problems, let me know. --The Surgeon General 02:35, 13 September 2007 (BST)
OK, let's clear this up now so I can go back to editing! In my signature box on my preferences page, I have put my nickname "Not Invented Here". Is this right? Or what? I know this is a really lame issue to be asking about but I'd rather be able to sign as my main Extinction character as Extinction is really the only reason I am still playing this game! So am I supposed to put something else in that box? Or what? I've read the various info you've linked me to, but all it seems to tell me is to tick that box, which I've done, and to fill in my nickname, which I've done. Aha!
Thanks for that. The reason I thought that this was a rule, was because Blood Panther (the person arguing with Jorm in the example you showed me) harrassed me for months, changing my danger levels, deleting my posts, and citing rules that must have gotten into the back of my head. I'll retake a look at the danger level of the suburb and will probably leave it for the time being (I'm all scouted out for the day). Was just trying to help clean up all of the bias level changing (on both sides) that started a couple of days ago. Recruitment
Hey TSG, I created a recruitment template at DHPD/Recruit to go along with the new recruitment page guidelines. I don't know how I wound up being the timestamp guy there (probably happened when I noticed our ad had been nuked after Conn stopped policing the page), but my sig's already on ads for a couple of other groups. Quarlesbank News
Do you have any idea of the history of Quarsbank? Obviously to you, the return of it's most infamous resident doesn't count as news!? A lot would disagree. I created and wrote that page from day one and now you come along dictating what you see to be fit? May I remind you of Wiki rules, even though you think you might be doing the right thing, consider the people who play in this area and think what they might enjoy reading. There is a new development occuring in Q'bank and I will place it as I see fit.
Regards, Lord Pitman
-- Lord Pitman 22:25, 16 August 2007 (BST)
- I assume you are making reference to this edit? I look forward to reading all news that is relevant to the condition of a suburb and any major events that are occurring. However, I feel that the return of just one player to an area is hardly worth an update by itself. I applaud your motivation, especially considering your opposition to Extinction, but I'm trying to be fair here. I'm a bit of a roleplayer myself and I greatly enjoy that aspect of the game, but saying that one survivor is now in an area could constitute an annoying predecessor, with players updating their movements within the game on the Wiki like it was a virtual journal. I have no wish for confrontation, arguing never solves anything and can create bitterness between two like-minded players, and I only wish that we make work together to improve the state of the Wiki. Can we not put this behind us? I only wish for an update to contain some shred of tactical data, just some bit that has worth and merit within the eyes of survivors and zombies alike. --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 00:02, 17 August 2007 (BST)
- Ah you seem to have my char the wrong way around lol. He is a Zed, and was the main survivor opposition in Q'bank for a long long time. My character is returning to once again rule the suburb since extiction wiped it so clean (you may notice a new group is forming in the light of the current situ), like I said a number of the groups had a running battle with the old 'PTS' group which made the news page an interesting metagame point. I can understand where you're coming from, but I just wanted to make you more aware of the significance of that news item; as I said a number of longterm Q'bankers enjoyed the stories that unfolded there. I personally think news shouldn't just be tacticle, as a lot of players aren't just interested in who controls what. Plus I don't want to keep a running journal, that'd give away too much and make life very dull. I'm not one to argue, but just wanted to hear your reasons behind the removal.
- Regards, Lord Pitman (P.S. Happy Birthday for the end of the month)
- -- Lord Pitman 19:07, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Of course, I understand. I too enjoy bits of news that aren't exactly related to the status of the suburb, such as events by the Drama Club and the like. And thank you. --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 21:21, 23 August 2007 (BST)

Creating a recruiting add
Hey how are you doing surgeon, I am wondering if you would know how to creat an add for the groups recruiting page, and if so could you give me a hand creating it.--JleggittMR 16:18, 1 June 2007 (BST)
- I'm guessing for the Malton Rangers, right? It's easy. Just sum up your group and what they're all about in 200 words or less, not including the first instance of your group name, put it in alphabetical order. You can use a pic, as long as it's 275px or less. Also, you'll need to update the time stamp every once in a while. More than two weeks without and update passes, your ad is removed. Frankly, the Recruitment page does a much better job of explaining all the small nuances. Also, since I do assume this is for the MR, you're much better suited to craft an ad than myself. Just follow the guidelines and suggestions given on the recruitment page and I'm sure it'll turn out great. If you need help with colors or formatting, I can do that, but you'll need to make the body of the ad yourself. --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 18:12, 1 June 2007 (BST)

- I was editing the Mall Information Center (specifically the entry for Bleasly Mall) and spotted the {} on the page preview in the same places as you see them in the picture on my talk page. Again, good luck. --Pedentic 23:58, 7 May 2007 (BST)
- I think I may have figured it out. On a whim, I put my signature in the signing space and the same {} appeared in the exact same places. Upon examining the similarities between the two, I found that we both use templates within our signature. As such, I can presume that the template used in the Mall Information Center are merely too sensetive to use templates within, specifically the one that alters color. Although I'm sure it could be fixed or worked around, I don't have the expertise nor the jurisdiction to alter them. If you really want to get to the bottom of it, talk to User:Hagnat. He was the one who orininally started up the MIC. However, he's MIA at the moment. So... best of luck to you I suppose. Just don't sign your name when you give an update. Group Listings
I saw your change to the group listings in Molebank and I had to change it back. Most of the groups on that list report they aren't in the suburb any more or aren't active. No one from a group has updated the suburb status in a long time, and if you go there you can see no groups are there. If a group goes to Molebank, they should add themselves. --Tekka Maki 18:10, 24 April 2007 (BST)

DHPD - MHG
The DHPD Dept. of PR failed me, so I'll try posting it here-
Recently, a member of the DHPD registered a hospital on the Malton Hospitals Group database, and later took it off. I'm assuming that they quit and didn't tell anybody else about MHG.
Assuming I got you interested, I'll go on. We aren't out to control registered groups, and in registering all you would be doing is telling the people who visit the page, "Hey, we're running a hospital here!" so they know they won't come there at 2hp w/ infection to find it ransacked.
Also, with MHG on the web, [2] there is a good chance that, at one point in the near future, a firefox extension will be made to direct people in-game to your area.
To register, just edit the list, (Can be found on the MHG page) and the city map. Then, (And this is one of the more loosely enforced rules) add a small template or category to your group's page. Thanks, and have a nice day.--Labine50 MH|ME|TNT'07 00:57, 8 April 2007 (BST)
- Sorry about no one getting back to you, we typically just watch the main DHPD talk page. We'll look into this, perhaps registering hospitals within the DMZ into the MHG database. Might per chance you know of the member who originally registered a hospital? --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 01:22, 8 April 2007 (BST)
- I'll keep that in mind before I go running in circles through various departments in the future. I'll go check on that name.
- Moments later- OK well this is embarrassing... I was thinking about something in Brooksville. Sorry about that, it's hard keeping track of all this... I could have sworn it was in Dunell Hills, you have a copy of our safety standers at the bottom of the page. Anyway, I hope to hear back from you on that.--Labine50 MH|ME|TNT'07 05:22, 8 April 2007 (BST)
- I'm assuming from lack of response that you've A- talked it over and don't like the idea, B- the idea is still going through the bureaucracy, or C- You forgot to mention it. If C is the case, I could try to convince a few other members registering with MHG is a good idea. I'm not too familiar with your command structure though, so that might be a bad idea... If it's A, well, thanks for listening, and if it's B, my condolences.--Labine50 MH|ME|TNT'07 23:08, 21 April 2007 (BST)
- It's kinda B. We've got some massive reorganizing going on within the DHPD, and more troubles than you could believe. NW Malton is completely infested, not to mention... eh, you get the idea. No need to ramble on. Once we've straightened everything out, I'll propose it again and I'll tell you the response. Spiffy Signatures
How do I go about making my signature look cool (superscripts and such) without having to type a lot of stuff every time I go to sign a post? Thanks in advance for any help. Pedentic 23:00, 7 April 2007 (BST)
- It's kinda complicated, so make sure you have a little time on your hands. First of all, I assume you're talking about using a template as a signature. Well, this is how you do it. You'll need to make a new page, such as User:Pedentic/Sig, or something to that effect. After that, click on preferences next to "my talk" at the top-right of this page and in the Nickname space write PedenticTalk MIC and check the box next to "Raw signatures (without automatic link)". This will allow you to use a template as a signature. After that, and you'll need a little knowledge of wiki code to do this, you'll need to create a signature for yourself. You can take a look at mine to see how it's done. Be careful with that you do, and make sure to test it out a few times before you use your new signature. Also, if you use an image, be careful of its size. I'm not sure what the maximum allowed is, but try not to make it too large. Do ya understand? I realize it's a bit complex. Oh, one more thing. If you don't want to use a template for whatever reason, just type what you would have used in User:Pedentic/Sig into your Nickname box. It'll make your signature longer, but it won't add to the number of templates on the page, as there is a limit to how many that can be used. --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 00:20, 8 April 2007 (BST)

- You must use those equal signs around it for that sub-section to appear in the contents box, which only appears when at least one heading is used on that page. --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 23:41, 10 April 2007 (BST)

I'm sorry, I had to revert your entry. You can not "move yourself up", as that would be unfair to people who may have wanted to use the day your entry previously occupied. Once an entry is made, the date is struck ONLY when the day has past. Which is precisely why the rules say "Thus, it may pay well to pick a "short date" and then re-register after that passes. Or to hold of on placing an entry until you can make a sound guess." --S.WiersctdpNTmapx:oo 19:43, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- Whoops, sorry 'bout that. I understand... --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 20:34, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello again. How do I go about fixing a grammatical error on a page that is un-editable? Specifically this one: UDWiki:Administration. Thanks. Pedentic 03:05, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
- We can't. Only mods can, so you'll have to contact one of them. I suggest Hagnat, as I've worked with him in the past and he's a good guy. Just tell him and he'll help you out. --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 03:11, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
hi
its me the last saxon could you tell me how to make it so that you can just type one word example <<thing here>> instead of all of that <<style border=ff55ff...etc stuff>> in templates. i apologise in advance for my abuse of the english langauge (ok im not;) and thanks The Last Saxon 04:34, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Sure, it's real simple. First, you make your template. Next, you make a page called "Template:TemplateName", replacing TemplateName with whatever you want it to be called. After that, just copy and paste your template code onto the page. Tada! Ya got it. Template:TemplateName will lead you to the page, but TemplateName will display everything on that page, unless you use a noinclude code. This may seem a little opaque, but it's not really that hard to do.--Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 00:42, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- thanks! heres the template i made

Wiki Monitors
Hey, I'm going to request the deletion of the group in order to return the drama-o-meter into normal levels, and I was about to request the deletion of the Monitorreader template too when I found out someone was using it: you! I'm going to make a new template about "monitoring" and leave the Monitormember template with a few changes, but I don't think that Monitorreader has any reason to exist if I delete the page. Anyways, I wanted to tell you that if you still want to use it, feel free to change it as much as you want, or if not please ask for the deletion of the template yourself or tell me to do it. And thanks for your interest on the group! --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC☺T☺+1 17:49, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- And if you wanted to know what I was working on: Mysickmodobsession --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC☺T☺+1 21:19, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- Not a problem. I won't be using it anymore with the groups deletion, so you can go ahead and delete the tepmlates if you want to. Also, I'll be using that obsession template. I wonder who I haven't come across it before... And remember, new messages at the top! --The Surgeon GeneralDHPD|P! 22:21, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the info concerning time zone-ness here in wikiland. I've got the situation under control, sir (I hope). --Pedentic 04:36, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you sooooo much for the newbie guide! Of much use will it be. --Pedentic 03:18, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- Here's a question: for news posts (ie. on the Caiger page) should the heading's date match the wiki date or can I use the date in my non-wiki time zone? --Pedentic 03:10, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Why were you requesting shurik3n's userpage?
Because he happens to be in my group, and I know him IRL. --Joe O'Wood TALKCONTRIBSUD 23:52, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's what I meant. Yes, I do remember him complaining about being PKed, and I was at his house yesterday, and he's currently a zed. Don't worry, though, I plan on scheduling a revivification run for him. Thanks for caring, on behalf of ZoMG. --Joe O'Wood TALKCONTRIBSUD 23:59, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- I don't recall. I know I have the image of another PK report on his old computer, but I don't remember who was PKed. --Joe O'Wood TALKCONTRIBSUD 12:20, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, I'm just glad to help. I'll be hanging around the DH towers to help. BTW there's no one else there to help. WTF is up with that? Isn't there supposed to be someone there other then me??? --Carfan7 04:15, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Well, the stats keep changing very often. It seems that there is always a group of the zeds determined to destroy the generator and transmitter. I have been having a lot of trouble lately.--Carfan7 04:27, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
