Deletion Requests
The Merry Medics Group Page
The creator of the group doesn't play anymore and as I created the page for him, I think it should be deleted as there is no longer any use for it. -- Krazy Monkey W! 23:13, 18 July 2006 (BST)
- Delete - Tentative, but if he ever comes back, it's not like it will be difficult to resurrect the page — even if the history wipe comes into effect before this hypothetical return. –Xoid S•T•FU! 23:42, 18 July 2006 (BST)
- I know him in RL and he's basically given up on UD altogther. -- Krazy Monkey W! 23:43, 18 July 2006 (BST)
- Delete –Bob Hammero Mod•B'crat•T•A 03:00, 19 July 2006 (BST)
Comment - I could move this to speedy under criterion 7 couldn't I? I'm the author and the only changes the other guy did was highlight part of the text. -- Krazy Monkey W! 22:46, 26 July 2006 (BST)
- While you "can", I consider it poor form - it has been voted on, so let it wait a couple more days until it gets deleted. –Xoid S•T•FU! 03:03, 27 July 2006 (BST)
sreath147 and User:sreath147
I went to move everything from the first page to User:Sreath87 since it is an alt account. I got confused with the numbers thinking 147 was 87. That's why there is a User page up there. I moved all the content to the real user page. So...yeah. Sonny Corleone WTF RRF ASS 15:07, 29 July 2006 (BST)

Template:Forbidden, Template:ForbiddenTwo and Template:ForbiddenThree
While I can understand the reasoning behind these, they would just serve to raise tensions. The whole concept of them is like a badge of shame - which makes them undesirable. IMHO, no amount of editing can change that. Cyberbob Talk 11:55, 27 June 2006 (BST)
- Delete - Agreed. –Xoid S•T•FU! 12:01, 27 June 2006 (BST)
- Keep - Users create tensions, not the templates. "Badge of shame"? Maybe, but that's not really different from warns being placed on users' talk pages. In all respect, it is exactly as questionable as users putting up notices of similar meaning on their own initiative, yet the latter is allowed. This template only attempts to organize that a litte bit more. Furthermore, it is not forced upon anyone. As I already said I have nothing against it being used with myself as the subject.--The Fifth Horseman 14:52, 27 June 2006 (BST)
- Re: If you are referring to what I think you, pay attention: just because Cyberbob forget to subst in {{warning}} doesn't make it a badge of shame. Though there is the fact the warning was retracted and the message is now irrelevant, that is not the reason why the warning is not a badge of shame.
The whole purpose of the {{warning}} template is so that a moderator who is really pissed off doesn't go and say something stupid — they just subst the template in, and they're done. The {{banneduser}} template is an informational template in the purest sense. You'll likely debate that point, to which I say: "Answering the same question (e.g. "WhereTF did so-and-so disappear to?") over and over gets old. Fast.". There is not an example you could name that is as directly confrontational as these are, or as questionable. Don't even try.

- It's Gay - Really. Anyone who uses "gay" as an insult should be shot. –Xoid S•T•FU! 05:01, 25 June 2006 (BST)
- Keep The only way that something like this could be taken as insulting or degrading is if someone sees themselves as being superior to homosexuals and has a personal dislike for the color used. With that said you have my vote at keep. I just don't see how this or anything like it could really be taken as being insulting or degrading and to suggest so is indicative of personal biases be it with the one who has it or someone who wants it removed. In either case the problem is not with the picture but with the way you interpret it. MetGreDKo 03:38, 26 June 2006 (BST)
- It isn't an interpretation issue when you have the intent to insult, asshat. Pink is not a homosexual color, it is rather a feminine color and is used to associate the idea of Gay-ness with a lack of manhood or machismo. It is impossible to say that you are using it in a way that can be interpreted differently when the idea of Pink as Gay is not something supported by Queer Culture at large. The picture is using the idea of gay-ness and the subsequent lack your interpretation of manly behavior as an insult, and therefore it should be eliminanted from the wiki. --Karlsbad 07:39, 27 June 2006 (BST)
- It is an interpretation issue even when the intent is one of "insulting" another it's simply that both parties have this misperception where being something or just being called it is some how harmful when it really isn't. As per pink being a feminine color, it only has that social connotation because it's generally a soft color and it doesn't fit in with the "dark" (badass) male stereotype which is so commonly what people try to get themselves looked at as being. How is it really so insulting to be called something and said to have that color around you? Does that color really make you any less of a man? Does it somehow change a 'Y' chromosome into an 'X'? Does someone calling you something make you into it? The answer to all of it is a simple no. If someone tries to insult me it just goes to show that the person is ignorant and merely needs to educate themselves as to the fact that from a general perspective there is no greater than or less than. No better or worse when it comes to things of the kind. I would be all for punishing the individual with it for attempting to cause trouble and anyone else who may have contributed to a build up of emotions to such a point however the picture in itself is nothing, it's a non-issue. If hostilities stay at images then so be it. Let them parade around their ignorance; it only reflects poorly on them. The only possible way that it might be considered insulting by someone is if they're insecure and if that's what we judge things on then I'm sure we can pick several dozen things not even involved in "wikidrama" to remove in order to continue playing to peoples sensitivities. --MetGreDKo 01:11, 28 June 2006 (BST)
- The idea of Homosexuality as being Other than Manly is harmful. It seperates human beings from eachother and ghetto-izes people who are as just a part of the human condition as any other. You can't argue "general perspective" when we are all internet-using english-speaking educated citizens. Continuing to perpetuate a stereotype ingrained in that said culture isn't harmful in that it insults the person you are using it against; rather it is the conotation that all members who read it understand. It isn't something we have to have on this wiki; the wiki does not have to include something just because some want to insult others with it.
Yes, that color does make you less than a man. Pick up an issue of The Advocate and then a Picture of Cosmo. How many times do you see pale pastel pinks and blues in the Cosmo? How about The Advocate? It is obvious that we all understand that pink means women; meanwhile, The Advocate (from what I am reading) does not use these colors any more than it uses bright colors that are closer to Neon than to Matte Pastels. Calling someone Gay, and THEN using Pink to represent them is an insult; you- the insulter- deny them as men.
Yet somehow you understand this yet you have this wacky idea that we have to let you do it. Using insults does not change a person, however the wiki isn't here to contain insults, especially ones as insulting as those. We don't have to let anything "reflect poorly" on the people that use it. Instead we delete it. Like so. --Karlsbad 03:11, 28 June 2006 (BST)- You are claiming that the social connotation of pink being girly makes it that. This is flat out wrong because a social connotation is nothing but something we see it as representing due to what ever we may perceive. It is something extra, something more then what it is. Pink is but a color which doesn’t get absorbed or is light stretched (or constricted) to such a degree as to make it look this certain way. How does this make it a girly thing? The only way anyone perpetuates any stereotype is by sticking with this social connotation as if it is a fact that pink means girly. Didn’t you have a relatively well known rapper named Cameron wearing pink? I’ve seen guys wearing pink suits and such.
I don’t care much what the media puts into magazines because what they do is largely just to make money. If guys don’t want to see these so called “girly? colors in their magazines then it won’t be put there because that’s what sells. We are brought up through various different influences to see things as masculine or feminine but in truth they aren’t unless you can provide proof or just significant empirical evidence that there are two genders for that particular thing which reproduce together and one fertilizes the other. Until you can do anything of the kind I’ll continue to say that things such as color are gender neutral.
Personally while I don’t have any pink clothes if someone gets me some then I’ll wear it if it matches with my stuff (work dress codes, bleh). Likewise I’ll put pink in my user page just the same if it will prove the point that the color pink does not change who or what I am. I’ll have an XY combination before doing so and I’ll have that XY combination after doing so. The only way you can challenge such a thing is to provide evidence or proof of the empirical kind which says that it changes people to have XX combinations and to support it provide the same kind of evidence for those colors which mean men otherwise you’ll just end up drowning.
My entire point however is that insults do not really exist. Let us get down to the root of it. If I call someone ignorant they take offense and get angry at it. They see it as insulting or personally demeaning for another to point out that they haven’t all the information in the world. This isn’t insulting but is the truth. Perhaps one day thousands of years ago it was possible to have much of the information our species had about the way in which the world operates but not any more. Now you have people needing to specialize in areas within general fields such as history and science. For a better example you have people calling each other assholes. What’s so terrible about that? Everyone has one, everyone needs one. Everyone says something that is discomforting to another at some point in their life and everyone will eventually spout nonsense. Whether people find these traits attractive or not isn’t fixed. It varies from person to person and with experience.
I recall someone getting angry with me because they said I was “stoic, logical and unapologetic? as if there is anything really terrible about it. For the fact that people have different definitions for the same symbol says that no word is really insulting and for the fact that not everyone sees the same idea as being insulting says that no idea is. We hurt ourselves; we bring ourselves down and covering it up by deleting stuff won’t change this. The only thing that will change it is facing the issue head on and coming to the realizations as I’ve stated them in my comments here, though perhaps with a bit more clarity and refinement.
At the end of all this, your saying “the idea of Homosexuality as being Other than Manly is harmful? puts to the side lesbianism and so now you’re doing to women what you don’t want to do to men. It seems to me to be a bit hypocritical if you’re using the term in general but if you instead mean male homosexuals then okay. I’d only question what it means to be “manly? for as you by now already know I simply define a man as having an XY combination and so the “manly? bit really doesn’t exist as anything but a social construct, just like this whole issue about genders owning specific colors.
As per the reflecting poorly on them, I was speaking from my own view which like anyone else’s isn’t a fact by any means (Moral relativity). In truth it doesn’t really say anything of the kind but is effectively neutral. --MetGreDKo 03:16, 29 June 2006 (BST)
- You are claiming that the social connotation of pink being girly makes it that.

- Delete - This picture does not show an opinion (such as Fuck he Abandoned picture), but is more of a personal attack against a group, while insinuating that being gay is bad. If he changed it to "The Neon Knights are gay", then I would have no problem. --Akule 01:30, 28 June 2006 (BST)

If there ever was a useless template, this is it. It's almost easier to code the thing from scratch that use this monstrosity. The fact that it just plain sucks and is unsuitable for usage by the general populace earns it's death warrant, IMO.
