  3. Delete - griefing --~~~~ [talk] 21:23, 30 September 2007 (BST)
It was meant as a bit of fun - Finis is widely known to jump out of windows in-game rather than face people trying to kill him. I had no intentions other than that. Also, it did have content, but Finis keeps removing pages from the category. --Bob Fortune RR 21:26, 30 September 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep- Just because I can.  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  21:35, 30 September 2007 (BST) Okay, Bob Fortune changed his vote. Speedy Delete.  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  11:31, 1 October 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep - Maybe I'm not one to talk, since I've been known to misuse the verb "grief" myself, but I think it's pretty much impossible to grief a window-ledger. The page really could be informative and humorous, if its content was allowed to remain. -- Atticus Rex mfu pif Δ 23:49, 30 September 2007 (BST) Yeah, OK, changed my mind. International Copyright

Copyrights are already explained under Copyright and Category:Copyrighted Images. This is an uneeded page. --Rogue 06:44, 25 September 2007 (BST)

erm... Category:Copyrighted Images simple inserts the text in Copyright as a template call. It's exactly the same text. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 14:25, 25 September 2007 (BST)
I know, I'm stating that we have a basic page and a template page. We don't really need anymore. Though the info on International Copyright is very informative it's just not needed. --Rogue 18:16, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  1. Keep - you people are starting to get retarded on this. People question why, yet when someone shows them why, you want to get rid of it. Don't you think it might be a lil bit relevant due to the copyright discussions that is going on? oh... and diskspace = cheap--THE Godfather of Яesensitized, Anime Sucks Yalk | W! U! WMM| CC CPFOAS DORISFlag.jpg LOE ZHU | Яezzens 18:20, 25 September 2007 (BST)

We need to see if we can get it as the copyright policy, as of now it seems to be a talk reply copied onto another page. --Rogue 21:06, 25 September 2007 (BST)
    Keep - It's usefull to know--Seventythree 18:24, 25 September 2007 (BST) Vote changed
  2. Merge - Explaination below.--SeventythreeTalk 10:13, 1 October 2007 (BST)
  3. Delete\Merge Rework it then make it the copyright page. Like I said, there's some good info there. --Rogue 21:06, 25 September 2007 (BST)
RE That could work, actualy.--Seventythree 21:09, 25 September 2007 (BST)
Yes agreed. but as of now it's a talk response that's pretending to be a policy page. --Rogue 21:15, 25 September 2007 (BST)
Does it? I thought it helped explain what international copyright is. UDWiki:Copyrights policy is the copyright policy. Of course, how people cannot understand "The Urban Dead Wiki prohibits the usage of copyrighted material in anyway way shape or form without the express consent of the original owner of such material. This includes the usage of logos and other forms of intellectual property." I'll never know. --Akule School's in session. 22:56, 26 September 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep Given the number of times copyright questions come up it's nice to be able to just link someone to a page that explains it. Also how is it pretending to be a policy,I don't see anything there that could be read as a such - Vantar 21:26, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  5. Delete/Move - Off topic for the main namespace. Move it to wine country. --Max Grivas JG / M.F.T. 21:49, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  6. Delete - It most definitely does not belong on the main namespace, it's not an issue of the wiki, it has nothing to do with the game, and it's only purpose is to spread certain users views about how copyrights work. When this site becomes about copyrights or about anything in general then maybe this would make sense but as of current this has nothing at all to do with the game.--Karekmaps?! 21:53, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  7. Keep diskspace = cheap--'BPTmz 04:35, 26 September 2007 (BST)
  8. Move/Merge - Hm, Karek's vote made me change my mind. This should be taken to something like UDWiki:Copyright Project, where it would be merged with Copyright into a clear policy --~~~~ [talk] 22:03, 26 September 2007 (BST)
UDWiki:Copyright Project sounds like a nice project for akule to start. It really sounds better and less idiot than his Copyright Gestapo, and also make it sound like he really is into this to make the wiki better, not ruining it. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 23:13, 26 September 2007 (BST)
I'd be happy to do it. The reason why I made the Copyright Gestapo was as a joke for those people who were calling me the "copyright nazi". I'd like to see more images like your remade mall images, so that we can have images that are made specifically for the wiki and Urban Dead in general. I really think that people would take more pride in the wiki and in the Urban Dead storyline if we could get community artists like Big J and Orie Shizuoka to remake the community images and make the place have a unique personal touch. Look at Nexus's wiki. Doesn't their community and game images (such as character archetypes) make the wiki look professional? Why should we settle for making this place like myspace? It could be so much more and so much better, if we'd give it a chance. --Akule School's in session. 23:33, 26 September 2007 (BST)
This isn't your personal Wiki Akule. It's the choice of the people on how they want the Wiki to be and your methods are not winning any hearts and minds. --Rogue 04:51, 29 September 2007 (BST)
Not a vote but a comment about a problem that will need to be overcome: the problem with achieving the same result on UDWiki that NWWiki has with regards to consistency of images is that there is no central design director on UDWiki (on NWWiki I have final say and fiat). So you'll want to create a group who drives this stuff (and, given the awesome policy-central mindset, write a policy to give them power to make changes to design as needed). I'd be willing to help out on something like that though my "design time" is limited.--Jorm 00:55, 27 September 2007 (BST)
  9. Move - Where ? I dont know. But this doesnt belong in the main namespace, as does not Copyright. But it clearly should not be deleted. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 22:07, 26 September 2007 (BST)
  10. Keep - It's come up time and time again, and helps people clear up misconceptions about international copyright law. --Akule School's in session. 22:56, 26 September 2007 (BST)

Oh thats right, I forgot, I'm on Bizaroworld where I'm the troll. Plum slipped my mind. WMM| CC CPFOAS DORISFlag.jpg LOE ZHU | Яezzens 20:33, 28 September 2007 (BST)
When during the past several months because akule need to get laid... or something was the reason on EVERY VOTE you have made in administration pages (recently changed by diskspace == cheap)... yeah, that makes you a troll for harassing Axe for doing the same as you have done. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 22:39, 28 September 2007 (BST)
Really, EVERY VOTE in the last few months? Wow, CNR Much? No, I like to think I put more thought into my votes, and actually give a reason rather than spouting off a few catchphrases. Yes, I did put those in my votes once or twice, but I guess irony fails the language barrier. I love how when some of us speak our minds, its "OMG TROLL", but when the cool wiki people do it, it's freedom of speech. But if you would like to continue this discussion, please refer to my talk page.--THE Godfather of Яesensitized, Anime Sucks Yalk | W! U! So, What was the whole purpose of this Anime? Was it to bitch and whine at me? You know as well as I do that I will not change my vote, and act like an asshat only countines to further my point. But, then again, stirring up drama is your thing, isn't it? --User:Axe27/Sig 01:29, 29 September 2007 (BST)

Kept - Move/merge isn't really a valid vote, and given that there is no clear consensus to do it, and there are more keep than delete, it gets kept, and stays where it is. Perhaps discuss it on the pages talk page, and then put in a request on A/MR -- boxytalk • 12:15 14 October 2007 (BST)

Salt The Metagame Policy

Page serves no purpose save to call for griefing, disruption, and trolling of zombie groups. Page was created by an individual who has been known to attempt to impersonate individuals before (and has recieved a warning for it); individual has at least once attempted to disrupt IRC for at least one group.

I don't think that the official wiki is the place for this type of drivel.

    • Here's the thing, though. That page is advocating DDOS attacks on the personal property of other people. This bandwidth is paid for out of pocket, so attacking it is, in effect, costing people money (in this case, me). This is where Akule's wonderful hypocrisy comes in - he's all for fighting the "good fight" to protect the property of faceless corporations who aren't going to be harmed in the slightest, but when it comes to real property paid for by real people who will really be affected by something like this, he changes tact simply because he doesn't like me (or has a crush on me; I'm not sure which).--Jorm 05:35, 13 September 2007 (BST)
      • Hum, i agree with that. I had to move a former irc channel i used to admin several times due server instability because of DOS attacks, and that totally ruin any fun you might have in the place. Anyone who hasn't been a LUE member since the sign-ups won't be able to gain access to our methods of communication anyway, but we'll gladly assist other zombie groups in exacting their revenge. I am not a lawyer, and I am not that familiar with Internet law, but someone might want to look into it. If this page is promoting illegal actions they need to be removed. Overall, though, I don't feel this page adds anything positive to the wiki.--Beauxdeigh 05:07, 13 September 2007 (BST)
    • If this part caused legal problems, it could be removed--but that's not a reason to delete the whole policy Byteme42 14:47, 13 September 2007 (BST)
      • Agreed. That would certianly be a valid solution. Perhaps you could take that step now by deleting that advice, and delete references to other people's property as targets, from your policy. That would be a positive step and remove any legal questions from the debate.
I still, though, feel that this policy shouldn't be promoted by the wiki community, if even only to jeer at. It appears to be more about 'winning' than 'having fun' and tries to dehumanize the opposing side by qualifying those players as targets overall, instead of just inside the game. The Metagame offers all players the opportunity to build community. Calling for a disruption of that has nothing to do with fun, and is petty. --Beauxdeigh 19:22, 13 September 2007 (BST)

  1. This means that you may only view or download material from this Site for your own use and you must keep all copyright and other proprietary notices attached to the downloaded material. The use of materials from this Site on any other Web site or networked computer environment is similarly prohibited. Requests for permission to reproduce or distribute materials found on this Site can be made by contacting FOX in writing at terms@fox.com. This prohibition applies regardless of whether the derivative materials are sold, bartered or given away." Since Urban Dead is a commercial website, this image cannot be claimed for personal use, and since it has no citation information, was not requested to be used, and in violation of the UD wiki's UDWiki:Copyrights policy, it should be deleted or modified to a non-copyrighted image. --Akule School's in session. 22:11, 6 September 2007 (BST)

Incorrect. Kevan makes money off of the website through donations, advertisements, and products, which means that this site commercial website. If you bothered to read the UDWiki:Copyrights policy or look at the bottom of your edit window, you would note that quote: "You are also promising us that you wrote this yourself, or copied it from a public domain or similar free resource (see Project:Copyrights for details). DO NOT SUBMIT COPYRIGHTED WORK WITHOUT PERMISSION!" Despite that, Fox says quote: "The reproduction, duplication, distribution (including by way of email, facsimile or other electronic means), publication, modification, copying or transmission of material from this Site is strictly prohibited unless you have obtained the prior written consent of FOX or unless it is expressly permitted by this Site. The material covered by this prohibition includes, without limitation, any text, graphics, logos, photographs, audio or video material or stills from audiovisual material available on this Site. Show me a single page in this wiki which charges a fee to browse and i will happily vote to delete any copyrighted material there. A users page is regarded as his own property (with certain limitations) and he is responsible for its creation and content, if he makes no charge to access it it isn't a commercial site. Oh and once again.... go get laid you sad little F****R!!!!--Honestmistake 16:38, 7 September 2007 (BST)
Ok I'll do you one better I'll give a part of wiki you have to pay to post in as well as part of the game you have to pay in order to access. paying in the game & paying for access to the wiki I'll agree with you that the players don't have to pay but that doesn't make the site non commercial.- Vantar 00:02, 8 September 2007 (BST)
regardless of how one wishes to interpret the commerciality of this site what FOX are asking (demanding) is that there stuff is not used for commercial purposes. In this case it is not. In line with their policy it is being used for "for personal, non-commercial purposes"--Honestmistake 01:50, 9 September 2007 (BST)
? if this site is commercial than it being displayed here is commercial use. - Vantar 03:53, 9 September 2007 (BST)
The image in question is being used for personal reasons (which Fox allow) The poster has not placed it in any context that could be considered commercial. The sites host could well be considered to be commercial but the function of this whole site is to act as a free resource for the players of a game, their is NO commercial intent by the poster or those who may view his page. This whole matter (and all the proceeding crap) are based entirely on Akules decision to use this wiki as a way to pad out his fucking CV for when he finishes his law degree. He is very cynically hunting down these images for his own selfish ends and couldn't give a toss if they are legitimate so long as he can suck up to his future employers with his "fight against internet piracy" as such all these cases are pretty much bad faith and should get him banned. Anyone who actually believes he cares should lend me $50 as i know a way too make it into millions!!!! --Honestmistake 12:31, 9 September 2007 (BST)
Don't forget to add the part where I am over twelve feet tall, breathe fire, and shoot lightning bolts out of my ass. If we are going to define my backstory, it should be a good one. I'd also like a mansion and a yacht, if possible. --Akule School's in session. 02:17, 12 September 2007 (BST)
Hey, it's your backstory. If you want to live on the moon, go for it! I always pictured you as a sort of Atticus though. Except not as cool. :).-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 02:25, 12 September 2007 (BST)

No, no way. If I haven't got a flying car, no-one can have one. So there :-P--Seventythree 22:11, 14 September 2007 (BST)
  14. Delete as per policy. If fair use ever is decided to be kosher, and Kevan blesses that, then that's entirely another matter. It's not our place to actively work against site policy though. --Pgunn 16:46, 7 September 2007 (BST)

  16. Keep - If Fox has anything against the use of this or any other image in this community, let them come and ask for these images to be removed. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 17:40, 7 September 2007 (BST)
    • Surely then you won't object to some of us hunting down copyright owners and informing them of the situation? I'm sure Kevan will enjoy receiving the cease-and-desist letters, right? --Pgunn 19:32, 7 September 2007 (BST)
  17. Keep - The image is not being used for commercial purposes. The Wiki and the Urbandead websites are two totally different entities. The UD Wiki has advertisements on it to cover the cost of the wiki, I seriously doubt he is making a profit. As well, even on the main UD website (where you can play the game), he is asking for 'donations' rather than demanding money to play. It's a free game you retards, just like it is a free Wiki. L2lawyer --Ryiis 19:45, 7 September 2007 (BST)
Free does not mean non commercial, a failing company is still a commercial entity. Not to say that this is a failing website, just that no matter if the goal is to make money or not this is a commercial website - Vantar 00:07, 8 September 2007 (BST)
We could argue semantics all day long - is Urbandead a registered commercial business in the United Kingdom? If the answer is no, then is it an incorporated entity? We could go in circles all day long, chasing our tails - my point is that the image is not being used to make a profit, and this is not some gigantic corporate entitity making money off of someone's work -- Ryiis 16:33, 9 September 2007 (BST)
The wiki is separate from Urban Dead. It's linked from there, and provided by the same person with the purpose of being an informational resource but, it's on a completely separate server, has no donations system or other means to gain money through it, does not charge for use, does not have ads, doesn't even require you to play the game or donate to it. The wiki earns 0 moneys last I checked.--Karekmaps?! 22:02, 10 September 2007 (BST)
Do you have adblock plus or something? Cuz the wiki does have ads (screenie taken in IE since I got adblock myself).--THE Godfather of Яesensitized, Anime Sucks Yalk | W! U! WMM| CC CPFOAS DORISFlag.jpg LOE ZHU | Яezzens 22:26, 10 September 2007 (BST)
Yes actually, and I completely forgot about it. Ignore me, I'm obviously delusional.--Karekmaps?! 23:44, 10 September 2007 (BST)
Regardless... non-for-profit organizations can collect money to put towards their operating costs - yet they are not considered commercial entities. What makes this wiki different? Even non-for-profit organizations can pay the people who run the organization - after all, very few people would devote 8 hours a day altruistically with nothing in return. That's why I ask - is this a registered company in the United Kingdom? Does Kevan have a business license to be operating this wiki, or the Urban Dead website? Does he even need one? Because if he does, he has more pressing matters to attend to if he is operating a business without a license. --Ryiis 23:16, 10 September 2007 (BST)

  20. Keep Hagnet put this wonderful little copyright template up letting EVERYONE know that the image does not belong to UD and that UD is not using said image to make a profit. --Rogue 19:21, 8 September 2007 (BST)

  26. Delete - I am a graphic artist...and I'll tell you right now all I have to show is that I didn't make any revenue off the use of my art for any reason. It doesn't matter if the person using it is making any money off of it or not. I simply have to show that I was not compensated for the use of my art.
