Well, I was roaming the UD wiki and then decided to see the vandal banning page.(I did not do anything wrong, I was just looking) Then found this Private Mendoza. It caught my eye cause I am a member of Columbine Kids.Although my leaders might not know about what happen to the group page I just like to say THANK YOU for getting that punk on their behalf.

Kittens!

They're cute and cuddly...But did you know I like to shot them out of cannons onto a field full of missiles, TNT, spikes, and kitten-eating plants? I call it Kitten Cannon. Sometimes, I go to the kitten shooting range with a few friends and see who can blast the kitten furthest. Yes. Archive for 73

Sorry, I guess its a perceptual thing for me... I don't ever recall someone with such a positive motion ever being put into the unsuccessful archive. I guess I just don't see where a successful bid automatically means they get promoted. i.e. Its a successful bid but up to the 'crats to promote or not. Apologies written in orange powder

Charles Winchester is such a good man..and he pointed out that I have upset the Tikhons/Tikhoners with my Cheese Poof Slanderings... I hereby officially apologize for my awful..etc etc.. and am handing you back the Hand Slappy Championship Tiara and Sash and your gloves, and your space ship (I was on a bender and stole it), and hope that once this red burb thing is resolved, we can shake hands and start up some sort of truce. Misconduct Archive

I've been reading through the misconduct archive of my case and I came across this I still actually believe that should be the system we use but since the somewhat considerable justification drama users, specifically Funt, have taken it upon themselves to change the community set precedent by striking any votes he didn't feel were adequately justified. The system has changed, and been abused actually, by users who strike votes that they feel are invalid or unjustified, and only do so in the kill/spam sections(you'll notice Funt asked me to point out where he did it in the past after I clearly stated I wasn't reading the page too) this is my favorite example of it, but there are a lot more where that came from as far as both unjustified keeps and users striking votes that are unjustified but leaving the unjustified keeps but, I really don't feel like going through suggestions by hand to find them right now.--Karekmaps?! 08:19, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Just a question

is there anything you can do about removing this page ? i find it very objectionable. i know that this is not the place to ask for such deletions, but i did not want to officially bring it to anybodys attention because i believe that the wiki would keep this page anyways because this page still exists despite being objectionable. it just disappoints me that people feel the need to create such things and i was curious if anything could be done. thanx--Scotw 19:47, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Misc

Your attempted ruling on the karek case is exactly why i was against your promotion. You are ruling misconduct on what is, at very best, a case for A/VB. What sysop ability did he abuse? None. The striking is perfectly legal, not to mention a user ability. We cant get misconducted for doing things any user could have done. Thats what A/VB is for. --The Grimch U! E! More Badges!?!

Yes. Your wildest dream has come true. More ribbon badges are now available at NecroWatch. There are now 3 new ribbons for you to earn: Combat Recon, Morrish Sentinel, and Raines Hills Tour of Duty. Please note that only scans reported after January 29th, 2008 count towards Combat Recon (so as to be fair to newcomers). Of course right now 2 ribbons could be earned in one scan, so be sure to visit the Battle of Pitneybank before it's all over. Which shouldn't be anytime soon, mind you. Also look forward to title trophies as the next update, for those NecroTechnicians who consider themselves "the best of the best". ;) --Mobius187 01:46, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Something I picked up...

You are inside Gnomeland Security. Some gnomes are mooning Axe Hack. There is a war going on in here. Also here is The Mudkip Army (5000 units), The Gnome Army (100 units), and some Gnomeland Security Guards (10 units) A few computers are in the room. They are being hacked by some Mudkips. Somebody has spraypainted Gnomeland Security shall fall! onto a dead Gnomeland Security guard.

Since your last turn:
  • A Mudkip distracted the Gnome guards. (5 seconds ago)
  • Some Mudkips hacked into Gnomeland Security's database. (4 seconds ago)
  • Some Mudkips uploaded a SpiderBOT virus into Gnomeland Security's computer. (3 seconds ago)
  • A horde of Mudkips devastated the Gnome Army sent to guard Gnomeland Security. (2 seconds ago)
  • Axe Hack planted a bomb. (1 seconds ago)

Pages can only be protected for a short period of time unless they have been requested via A/PT. I'm unprotecting The Malton Bounty Emo Killers page, even though it's probably a good idea to ask them if they want their page protected. It's certainly the most vandalised group page on the wiki atm. Please read up on the guidelines before taking action -- boxy talki 01:26 17 January 2008 (BST)

Wiki help...

I wasn't sure if I should post my question here, or in the Help discussion, but they all seemed like comments rather than questions. Anyway:

On the brainROT RUM page, they have a logo of four mini-skull images, which some of their users have created. Anyway, I was wondering if it was possible to have a page (or a collection of pages) which could be linked to from the main page randomly. I mean, the images would be randomly chosen from the collection everytime the page is loaded. Is it possible? If so, do you know how? DS TlkDevW!+1 15:11, 30 March 2008 (BST)

Thanks for the quick response, but I've got another question - it's about signatures this time. I understand that it uses Template:Nosubst:SUBST or whatever it is, but do you know how I could replicate that onto another wiki to keep the auto-updating sig? DS TlkDevW!+1 14:25, 31 March 2008 (BST)
I've tried that once again, but it doesn't work... I'll leave a link to the wiki on my talk if it'll help! DS TlkDevW!+1 18:55, 31 March 2008 (BST)

Game stats page?

I'll beat him to it. :P The Game Stats page is not based on Wiki Info. It's based on how many active characters have the groups name in their Profile's Group field. -- Cheese 19:45, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh, thanks but why I ask this is because some moron called William Joel keeps editing my groups wiki page. He changes our listed numbers to 29 because its this way on the game stats page. He hasnt the right for that. :(. Our numbers include inactive ones that are away for things like vacation. Dont think William Joel is an objective corrector, oh no he is a member of a group that is kinda hostile towards my group making him biased... One more thing; can this system fail? I noticed a group called the Dead at the top with 1346 numbers, but the odd thing is that groups wasnt there a few weeks ago and their wiki page, well... --MisterGame 20:06, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Actually I have used a nailgun in real life, thanks to my uncle - I used it when I was helping him install the drywall in my country house (Israeli men don't treat women like they're idiots apparently, unlike whatever you are). I'm not so sure that you have though - at least not a cordless one which uses powder actuation and direct drive. Plus I've posted statistics used by the government construction safety commission. In return, I suggest you have someone fire a nailgun nail at you. Feel free to stand 10 feet away or even 20. Then you can give me your approval of its combat use while you're in the hospital waiting for someone to remove a nail from you which embedded itself with the same force as a .22 calibre bullet. In any event, I'd prefer if you could just give that you 'don't feel the nailgun would work well as a projectile weapon' - makes your vote a little less inane. You'd still be ignoring most of the suggestion research... but your reasoning would at least be less inane --Tselita 22:05, 8 May 2008 (BST)

Are we going to be adding an Air Compressor and Air Tank item to the repository of items Kevan has to code? Redead13 07:46, 9 May 2008 (BST)

No because the suggestion is not for air compressor nailguns. It's for Direct Drive Powder Actuated Nailguns - the most popular type of cordless nailgun sold. As it says several times in the suggestion. The nailguns which use air compressors, hoses, and air tanks are different types of nailguns which are corded. If I had suggested that type, the problem would be they are not as widely popular, they are bulkier, and they require an air cannister and hoses. --Tselita 14:02, 9 May 2008 (BST)
I'm sorry, not all of us work part-time at the Home Depot. Please, bring your brilliant insight into how this would work. Redead13 21:23, 9 May 2008 (BST)
It should be pointed out that the only nailguns comparable to actual guns via muzzle velocity and energy are not available in your regular Home Depot and the type of nailguns you suggest can not fire a projectile fast enough to serve as a decent ranged weapon beyond maybe a foot. If you want a nailgun that lives up to the gun portion of it's name you need an industrial one.--Karekmaps?! 06:48, 10 May 2008 (BST)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pMDCWooyc8&feature=related - Hrm he seems to be quite a distance away... only took 2 shots to shoot him with the nailgun - more like 20-30 feet away, not 1 foot. The idiot's lucky he didn't get hit somewhere even worse, like the head or get a lung punctured. --Tselita 20:08, 11 May 2008 (BST)
No, the second one proves my point perfectly. As for the first, you can't tell distance too well in that video but it doesn't look to be more than a few feet, and even then all you see is him knocking over the can, which I could do with a rubber band at the same distance with ease, no one is going to suggest rubber bands as weapons though.--Karekmaps?! 11:06, 12 May 2008 (BST)
I'm amazed. I'm amazed I can show a video of a person being shot with a nailgun from a distance of at least 20 feet, and yet people will still argue that you can't shoot a nailgun nail at least 20 feet. The second video is to show ACCURACY (a can is small and harder to hit, and that is not just a few feet in any case), the first one is to show RANGE. Karek, please don't argue just for the sake of arguing - at least try to see my point on this - I just proved that nailguns can be both long range AND accurate. And redead13? Don't use coding as a reason to not approve of an item? Even if an item does get into peer reviewed, there's no guarantee that Kevan will implement it anyway - we're not the ones coding the game, he is. It's up to him to decide whether a peer reviewed (or undecided or peer rejected even) suggestion makes it into the game. Thank you. --Tselita 15:28, 12 May 2008 (BST)
Oh and Karek, please do check out the video where they shoot the guy from 20+ feet. And look at the aftermath- that nail got embedded DEEP in his back. I also included on the suggestion page in response to people a news report of a nailgun where the nail was used to try to kill a teenager when he was shot in the heart with it. It's quite graphic though. Or the one where a guy uses a nailgun to SKEET shoot - I hope you agree that shooting a skeet means the nail is going a LOT farther than a few feet. This is not a rubber band. Rubber bands do not embed themselves deep into your body so that you can't even remove it by pulling hard. They also don't go through into your heart, or pierce your skull like nailgun nails can and do. --Tselita 15:31, 12 May 2008 (BST)
No, you're not understanding what is happening in those videos and using them to make base assumptions that are completely wrong not only from a logical standpoint but from a physics/medical driven one. This video you claim shows a nail driven deep in the person does no such thing, it shows him being given a welt from the impact of the nail, something that you'd expect at that distance from a nailgun, or any other low speed projectile.Nailguns are not fast especially when compared to actual guns, anyone with even any experience with airsoft or paintball can tell you that 101.5 fps is very low and how something going 5 times that speed can create welts and at best break the skin but won't cause any serious injury over any distance, real guns often fire projectiles at 10 times that speed. I understand you're going to ignore what I say anyway, but you're still wrong, especially considering the large majority of people injured don't even need medical treatment and of those that do there is commonly very little real damage.--Karekmaps?! 22:17, 12 May 2008 (BST)
Ignoring what you say? Pot calling the kettle black. Last time I'll bother to say this since it's apparently not something certain people are bothering to read. Powder-Actuated Direct Driven Nailgun Powder Actuated. Powder. Gunpowder. Why do you keep bringing up air-powered nailguns when the suggestion is for powder-actuated nailguns? And especially where did you bring up paintball guns?? That's like comparing a bb-gun to a real pistol. I'm comparing gunpowder-based tools with gunpowder based firearms, not air-based tools with gunpowder-based firearms. I think you're just liking to argue for the sake of argument. And I'm not misunderstanding news reports stating, blatantly, teenagers being shot in the chest with a nailgun and it punctures their heart. Lastly, 37000 people is not a small number of people. As for speed - the speed is the same as the speed of a .22 calibre bullet. Where you got real guns often fire projectiles at 10 times that speed. I'll never know. But just so you know, I got my figures from the U.S. Construction Safety Report. --Tselita 22:28, 12 May 2008 (BST)
Actually, seeing as how the population of the Earth is as large as it is, I'd say 37,000 is still a small amount of people. A small enough number for me to give a small child one of these so-called "dangerous nail-guns" and tell him to have fun with it.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 23:22, 12 May 2008 (BST)
hehe, okay that was funny. :) But seriously, it's actually 37,000 in the US per year, not 37,000 in the world. --Tselita 23:25, 12 May 2008 (BST)
37K out of 304,068,728. As of about 15 minutes ago. Not even 2 percent of our (U.S.) population. I'm not worried about 37K people. We're overcrowded here anyway. :) -- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 00:02, 13 May 2008 (BST)
Oh, and I have been shot with a powder actuated, direct drive nailgun. About 15 feet away. Sucker barely went in, and it took the guy 4 tries to actually hit me. Even then, I suspect it was more luck than anything.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 00:09, 13 May 2008 (BST)
Well I've been bitten by a zombie before and his teeth fell out - they're not dangerous either. He didn't even break the skin. (seriously though please look at the youtube videos showing nailgun aftermath injuries... or don't, doesn't matter to me) --Tselita 21:31, 13 May 2008 (BST)
Yes, I've watched the videos. The second one proves the same thing that me getting shot did. That it doesn't have enough force to penetrate from any real sort of range. The first proves that they are very inaccurate, and still fairly inaccurate even at a close-ish range of ten-ish feet. And besides, with photo and video manipulation nowadays, it's pretty hard to trust a You tube video. Ma'am, I'm not going to lie. I've played with the same exact nail-guns that you are trying to sell to us. For quite a long time at that, and quite frankly, I could never see them being a viable weapon. They simply are too inaccurate and too weak. Really. I'm not trying to be mean or rude or anything, but honestly, I really do know from personal experience, at both longer ranges, and when the shooter is within 10 feet. Neither of them did any serious damage. Sure, it'd be a fun thought to use it as a weapon, but after seeing how little use it would actually have, I've completely discounted ever using it as one.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 23:57, 13 May 2008 (BST)

Trolling question

Question - what counts as evidence of trolling? Is it when someone just votes kill without any justification, or when they seem to make an account with no history on it and the sole reason seems to be to vote kill on a suggestion (or is that evidence of multiple accounts instead?), or when they vote kill only on your suggestions while ignoring most other suggestions totally? Not sure what the definition of trolling is. Let me know please, thanks --Tselita 17:17, 8 May 2008 (BST)

Attacking the author, not the suggestions. "This suggestion sucks" is justified and all, however vague a reason but "this author sucks" is not. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 22:47, 8 May 2008 (BST)
Gotcha. So Trolling is insulting the author, not insulting the suggestion. That makes sense. Thanks --Tselita 22:49, 8 May 2008 (BST)
Mmhmm. :)--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 22:52, 8 May 2008 (BST)
oh one last question - thanks for the patience. What if they give a reason, but then in addition to the reason, they decide to call the author something like, 'you f**king moron' or they write 'As above' then continue with 'And you are the dumbest person I've ever heard - I hate you'. Does the entire vote still get stricken, since it's trolling? Or is that not quite the same? --Tselita 23:02, 8 May 2008 (BST)
Meh, I wouldn't strike it. It's the votes that have the purpose of just insulting that I have a problem with. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 18:36, 9 May 2008 (BST)
Okay. I was going to ask if voting kill for coding reasons alone are stricken, but I then I remember that I promised my last question would be my last question. Thanks for answering them - you've definitely lived up to the second word in your name --Tselita 19:01, 9 May 2008 (BST)

Suggestion:20080425 Penalize URL Actions

Can you please remove inane votes from this suggestion, or inform the voters to add some slight justification other than insulting the author? I normally don't like striking unjustified votes... by the time I finished, half the votes will have been struck. :O --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 21:17, 6 May 2008 (BST)
Then people will learn! Or yell at you. --PdeqTalk* 21:23, 6 May 2008 (BST)
both. What counts as justified anyway? You can just think its a bad idea, i don't think you should have to explain your reasoning on the vote. --xoxo 03:02, 7 May 2008 (BST)
The voting rules template gives some pretty good examples of what does and doesn't count. For instance, "This is a good/bad idea" is given as an acceptable example, while "You're a poohead" is given as an example of what is unacceptable. Justification for votes is policy. If you would like to change that policy, propose it. --PdeqTalk* 03:14, 7 May 2008 (BST)
Suggestions doesn't worry me enough, but there does seem to be an awful lot of "unjustified" voting going on, are non sysops allowed to strike?--xoxo 03:19, 7 May 2008 (BST)
That is a darn good question. I know non-sysops are allowed to strike non-author re's and unsigned votes, but I think trolling votes and unjustified votes are restricted to sysops striking them. Maybe AHLG will have a more definitive answer. --PdeqTalk* 03:21, 7 May 2008 (BST)
Unjustified votes can be struck by anyone, inane by sysops only. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 03:32, 7 May 2008 (BST)
How would you have an inane vote that is not unjustified? --PdeqTalk* 03:45, 7 May 2008 (BST)
Insults, hurring, trolling should be struck by a sysop while no justification can be struck by anyone. "I hate [author]" is (poor) justification for voting, although it is obvious trolling. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 04:16, 7 May 2008 (BST)
Yes, right here I struck a trolling/unjustified vote. And, as you can see by my subsequent VB case here, you can see as proof that trolling remarks are removed by Sysops, while unjustified are freely stricken by those who feel inclined to. Always good to see the precedence in action, amirite? :D -- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 11:14, 7 May 2008 (BST)

Ingenious, when we're finally on the way to fixing the shitstorm Funt opened up due to striking votes without justification you start doing it again. Seriously dumb move, just like the whole "LibrarianBrent added it so it's a rule even though it's never been enforced" crap that led to the setting of the precedent that it could be done, let vote striking in that manner die, it never should have been brought about in the first place.--Karekmaps?! 05:48, 8 May 2008 (BST)

If you don't like it, work to get it removed from the voting rules. Don't whine about it when people enforce it and just hope it goes away. --PdeqTalk* 06:03, 8 May 2008 (BST)
Yeah, cause that totally didn't happen. Don't assume I'm whining because I haven't and don't plan on doing something because it's convenient, especially when you don't understand why I'm saying what I'm saying or doing what I'm doing.--Karekmaps?! 18:41, 8 May 2008 (BST)

What matters is the justification used, so yes. In a case like this where you're basically furthering the moronic unjustified vote striking with your "reason" for striking the vote, even though you're striking it for trolling and not being unjustified, someone like Sockem will come along and do it later and use that as justification. So yes, it matters.--Karekmaps?! 19:08, 8 May 2008 (BST)

Newbie Guide

I understand that the vast majority of newbies to Urban Dead prefer to play as survivors instead of as zombies, but surely there are a few who would like to start out as a zombie, or perhaps have had their fun as a human and would like to have a little aid in switching sides for a change of pace. The newbie guide at Guides:A Beginners Guide to Urban Dead#What attracts zombies unfortunately does not support this position, and is written solely from a survivor point of view.

The Zombie page used to be in an identical situation, but because it is free to edit, I modified the wording to be from a zombie PoV instead. The newbie guide is not free to be edited, but could you find it in your heart to think of the zeds, and give us a voice in the guide? You can copy from what I wrote on the zombie page or change the wording yourself, either way... but in either case, this section, out of all the sections, should be for those who want to play AS a zombie. Let all the other sections be pro-survivor if you like, but this one should be ours... Iunnrais 04:48, 22 April 2008 (BST)

You said not to revert it until the matter is solved, how do we go about solving the issue? Suburb Pages

The Precedent you sited for the removal of the DHPD tags from the suburb dates from Jan of 2008. The precedent for the DHPD Tags in the DMZ pages comes from precedent, tradition, and an Arbittration case from aproximatly MAY of 2006. AS I am avoiding direct confrontation with any member of the Dead due to issues in and out of the Game now, I would appreciate it if you would undo said edit. Conndrakamod TDHPD CFT 21:19, 3 April 2008 (BST)

Most of the community seem to be in consensus that they shouldn't be there, it's been brought up numerous times, one screwed up misconduct case two years ago is not precedent, them not being removed because everyone knows you'll cause drama over it(that much has been said in at least a few of the "challenges") is not precedent. Having them is a double standard, it's not precedent.--Karekmaps?! [comment made at an unknown time, will be not specified in this edit, he forgots to signs! Bot for A/VD and Suggestions

As per your comment on the Talk:Mobile_Phone_Mast under a bot discussion you mentioned a bot would be nice for the A/VD and suggestions pages. Could you give me some information on what needs doing on each page exactly? I'm guessing A/VD needs something to check timestamps of warnings and strike out old warnings, is that right and if so, how long are warnings considered valid? The suggestions page is more complicated for my poor brain, I haven't had time to decipher the system you've got going on there. An explanation of everything would be great. NPOV Suburb news question

As linked here a group hostile to mine in Gibsonton is actively censoring our posts on the news page for Gibsonton with posts that I do not believe are NPOV. What is your opinion on this situation? NPOV Question

Hey Mr. Gnome. Had a question about POV, so figured I'd ask a Sysop. Preferably one who would not eat me alive. Therefore I turn to you! The Dulston Alliance just started their own paper, the Dulston Dispatch. It's a newspaper produced by us, which contains suburb news along with various power ratings, zombie levels / interviews with groups, etc. I set up the wiki page n' stuff, but I'd like to... and I hate to use the word... advertise it on the Dulston wiki page. I was thinking of putting a short blurb above "Barricade Policy", or maybe just "For a more survivor oriented news source, check out the Dulston Dispatch [here]". Below the "keep news entries NPOV" thing. It does pertain to Dulston, and as long as I wrote a neutral statement, I thought it would be ok, but I figured I'd ask instead of going ahead and having it removed a few days later. Would this be alright? Thanks, --Kikashie Read the Dispatch! 06:16, 4 May 2008 (BST)

Thanks. But uh, which one did you mean? Above Barricade policy or below the NPOV thing? --Kikashie Read the Dispatch! 18:37, 4 May 2008 (BST)
Right, thanks again. --Kikashie Read the Dispatch! 18:41, 4 May 2008 (BST)

Halp!

Ok..well, it's not serious enough to yell Halp about.. or FIRE!!! But I'm a true blonde and like to have my hand held through things. Sunil has pretty much retired from UD and all and I don't want to drag him back here just to help me out with something I could probably do on my own. So my question is, How do you archive stuff on the wiki? I only just now noticed that in deleting a bunch of stuff from my talk page that it docked me 1,000 some odd yippie-doo-dah points and the MMS page needs some cleaning up, but I don't wanna lose a zillion more yippie-doo-dah points. :( So.. At least point me towards archival lane.. Thank you in advance! --Morgueasm 14:57, 2 May 2008 (BST)

Z-indez overlap help

Hey, I just created a new map and could use some help. I've got a grid image that I want to overlay on a table in such a way that it is exactly centered on the table and lines up with some images contained in it. let me see... you agree that the precedence is silly, you agree that its not misconduct, you even agree that this is an even more complicated case than mine... yet you dont think its needed to overule the darn precedence ? You like having your hands tied as you do your job gnome? you like the drama that will be created in future cases where both my precedence and nubis precedence (that its gonna be created if this is simply ruled not misconduct) are cited, and the side with the most vitrol opinion will have his way ? --People's Commissar Hagnat talk - mod 02:20, 8 June 2008 (BST)

I don't think it's appropiate to overrule the last case, unless that's not what you meant. Having this as not misconduct creates the new precedence, no? --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 02:22, 8 June 2008 (BST)
No, because you are then agreeing with karek that protecting images is not the same as protecting pages, which then means its not the same thing, which means that both my cases and nubis case can be used in the future as precedence to misconduct other sysops. I wont force you to vote my way or another, but my previous case ruling was ridiculous and this case just proves it. --People's Commissar Hagnat talk - mod 02:31, 8 June 2008 (BST)
I will get back to you on that... --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 04:38, 9 June 2008 (BST)
The two precedences match up perfectly fine Hagnat, you're creating drama now, requesting an impossible task, for whatever reason I do not know, but it seems to me like you're just trying to vent at people you think are responsible for your misconduct archive and are using Nubis' case as an excuse to do it. Your case was barely ruled misconduct anyway, look back over the rulings and the discussion from the sysops involved, the deciding factors were the number of pages, the viability of doing it the proper way, and your past with circumventing procedures.--Karekmaps?! 02:29, 8 June 2008 (BST)
i already explaned my reasons in the misconduct case. My case was barely ruled misconduct, yet grim and others are using this and several other small cases he created as reason to get my demotion. If it's a silly precedence, if its a barely reach ruling, and if people dont want to enforce it on similar cases, then why have it first place ? Overule the case based on its pettynes, and no more sysops will have to fear when they protect pages. --People's Commissar Hagnat talk - mod 02:37, 8 June 2008 (BST)

reporting harassment in the wiki.

I would like to complain about a case of harassment. Since I'm not very practical with the use of UD Wiki I may be mistaken in reporting here but I hope you can help me nonetheless. I deleted the harassing from my user talk, but who did it, namely user Dhavid Grohl, has filled his own talk with it, too. He goes on calling me a zerger, and what's most disturbing me a rapist. I don't think this wiki is the place for this sort of abuse even if it were true. He is harassing me in the brainstock forums and in game too, and I would like something to be done about him. I'm fed up with being persecuted and repetitively abused and harassed by him.

Thank you for your interest and any help you can provide. Regards Hikari Kisugi.

Well, if it is any consolation he is tangling with Grim now. Feel free to delete anything he posts on your talk page. As far as Brainstock goes, I would suggest reporting that to any mods on there to see what their policy is and what they can do to help you. --– Nubis NWO 18:10, 9 June 2008 (BST)

  1. No sleeping in malls. Malls are only used for resupplying.

We had a manhunt of 15 players and even 2x2, we realized, was too large for that. I was organizing a different sort of manhunt, where we all go for one person, and the player who kills him wins, but if you organize a manhunt, I could get the BBK to join, as well as a few ex-BBK members (don't worry, they are all trustworthy, they don't cheat). The only reason I didn't organize a new one myself was because I don't have the time at the moment, so if one of you guys tell us where to go and when the hunt starts, I'll give you everyones profile and we can have a free-for-all standoff! There's only a little problem in all this, the war is taking place in S.Blythville wich is one of the six suburbs of the tournament so ObiFF will have to be/roam that area. I give you my word that ObiCop will not kill anyone in S.Blythe and that I will not zerg but its up to you to vote if im in or not or maybe we can remove that suburb from the Manhunt (we have a mall for resuplying in Locketside). 5. This Manhunt will take place in a 3x3 square in the Southwestern corner. Those suburbs are: Nixbank, Wykewood, South Blythville, Foulkes Village, Ruddlebank, Lockettside, The Arkham Sisters, and Spicer Hill. If you sleep in another suburb besides the one listed here, your kill count will be deducted by one. A screenshot of the suburb (everything else may be blacked out, except for your character name) may be taken to prove you're in the Manhunt areas. If you do provide a screenshot, they must be timestamped.
  6. No zerging.

If you suspect someone is cheating, get a screenshot of the suspicious activity and it will be voted on by the other players to determine if it is considered cheating or not. Cheaters may have their entire kill count reset back to zero, or be disqualified from the Manhunt.

I think that's all the rules... --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 15:06, 22 June 2008 (BST)

Can we just say cheating is incredibly lame and that anyone who cheats sucks? Setting a penalty for cheating makes it a valid tactic. I mean sleeping in a dif burb makes you virtually impossible to kill and for only 1 kill cost? Sounds reasonable. I think if you get caught out of the area you should be automatically DQed and that everyone should be strongly discouraged from doing so as its pretty fakin lame.--xoxo 08:32, 23 June 2008 (BST)

As someone who is a bit of a hospital rat, I can agree that a mall search rate buff is a bit much... but the general idea of being able to improve buildings in some way (over time) seems fitting now that ruined buildings have a natural decay. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 16:48, 21 July 2008 (BST)
Homogenising the two sides is a bad idea, and it doesnt lead to fun. All it results in is that humans can easily undo the work of zombies in one session (Because zombies have to move on to find food, and rarely crowd building devoid of life with 50+ bodies if they werent first eating life there). Humans basically would get free rebuilding over time safish behind EHB cades which gave them a search buff. Whoop. Almost as broken as Jon Pyres suggestion. Attempting to give each side their equivalent benefits doesnt work because the mechanics for either side are fundamentally different. In this case, you would end up with survivors getting free max almost everywhere except in the middle of a holocaust while easily being able to undo zombie efforts anywhere with even a mild amount of metagame and a sacrificial suicide repairer. --The Grimch U! E! 16:55, 21 July 2008 (BST)
It's not really homogenizing, if that were the case there would be extra AP needed to ruin buildings. I am voting change/kill because I believe the suggestion to be at least be salvageable. The flavour text would be great to show how long a building was standing at least, so I'm not spamming it. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 17:37, 21 July 2008 (BST)

Regarding Subst

I understand that the "What links here" page for templates may be inaccurate due to something called Subst. What, extactly, is Subst and how can I tell if a template is effected by it? Thanks! --Pedentic 03:34, 8 August 2008 (BST)

Well, I hit the picture on the template and noticed that a copy of the template was there in the "Links" section of the image. I noticed that the code was just copied, instead of the standard {{Template}}. Subst is just an easy way to to call the templates code, useful for protection against people editing the template and altering what you originally wanted the template used for. It's likely they did {{Subst:Revenge}} or copied the code directly. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 04:23, 8 August 2008 (BST)
I'm not terribly familiar with wikicode, so I'm not quite following your explanation. You said you noticed a copy of the template in the picture's "Links" section and that tipped you off. Shouldn't the template have been listed there anyway because it included that picture? --Pedentic 04:31, 8 August 2008 (BST)
No, the "what links here" only includes links to the page or inclusion (calling the template). I hit the image and noticed that it was being used on a page so I took a look. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 04:35, 8 August 2008 (BST)
So the only way to tell if a template is being Subst-ed is to do a bit of digging? --Pedentic 04:37, 8 August 2008 (BST)
Yeah. Oddly though, images are only seen under "Links" when they are being shown as an image, not like [[:Image:Dancekill.png]]. Check "what links here" on Image:Dancekill.png and you'll see that it's actually in use. :O --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 04:40, 8 August 2008 (BST)

I need your help

As you may have guessed I am Izumi and I need to speak with you, as you seem to be the only reasonable sysop left. Before you pass any judgment you should know the history of my case; I was banned unjustly over an accident, and got escalated to perma for using alts to leave sysops messages contesting it. Since I was banned, I have made many alts to circumvent the ban in hopes of being able to simply edit my group page in peace and not bother or be bothered by anyone. All I want is to be able my group page and my personal page. I have not committed a single act of vandalism in nearly a year, outside of circumventing my perma. I have no bad faith intentions I simply want to be left in peace. Unfortunately Grim refuses to let that happen as it is "against the rules" despite the fact I have personally witnessed him bend the rules many times before for people he favors. There is no government to uphold here, I am not trying to trespass on sacred ground; I just want to be able to manage my affairs. Please help me, there must be something you can do to help me end this cycle. Justice 05:22, 27 August 2008 (BST)

You have shown a flagrant disregard for the rules and guidelines of this wiki. Furthermore, you promised me, eleven months ago, that you would not consider returning for a year. given the fact that the year ends in over two weeks, and you have been around as illusionist since march, on and off, i think its fairly safe to say that your word isnt worth the breath its uttered on, or the bandwidth you waste to convey it digitally. You had your chance, you knew the rules, and you decided to break them more often than any other user in the history of this wiki. --The Grimch U! E! 11:20, 27 August 2008 (BST)
Why don't you get another member of your group to edit the page, through your forum? Why do you insist on making more alts? --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 22:01, 27 August 2008 (BST)
After a several month hiatus I returned to UD to find most of my group gone; I am in the process of recruiting more members but for the time being it would be nearly impossible to make the updates. It's not as though I am asking for much; Simply allow me access to my group and user pages, that's all. If not at least please stop ruthlessly hunting down my new accounts as if I am some sort of plague; Just pretend I'm someone else. If I've proven anything in the last eleven months its that I'm NOT a vandal and I am most certainly not a threat to this wiki that you guard so fiercely. Quite unlike Grim has so eloquently stated, I do not disregard the rules; I respect them fully. I do not cause any conflict, I do not vandalize pages, I don't so much as troll a user. I have absolutely zero "bad faith", which, according to the wiki guidelines is the sole defining element of vandalism and of vandals themselves, that is to say, they have to WANT to cause problems. I can't make it any more clear than that. This entire situation is ludicrous and I wouldn't need to make "sockpuppets" if I were given a fair chance at redemption. Restitution 04:36, 28 August 2008 (BST)
Oh, just to prove my point, I went ahead and pulled this from the vandalism policy page. "The issue is not punishment - we do not punish vandals. The only aim with warnings and bans is to attempt to stop the vandal from continuing to vandalise the wiki. We are more than willing to let reformed vandals continue to edit this wiki, if their edits are a good faith attempt to improve this wiki." Restitution 06:45, 28 August 2008 (BST)
If you respected the rules at all you would have abided the bans you recieved in the first place and lived with them. As it is, you are the most prolific rule breaker that this wiki has ever seen, beating every single multiple account troll vandal that has ever hit this place. It goes without saying that you are, once again, banned from this wiki. You gave me your word in september 07 to leave this wiki alone for a year, and you broke your word in march this year. So dont come expecting any kind of sympathy, or special pleading, because it isnt going to happen. --The Grimch U! E! 13:14, 28 August 2008 (BST)
Also, you just dont get it. If we let you back in at all, then we set a bar, at least in the minds of everyone, for how annoying people have to be before they get let back in as well. It only makes problems for us all much worse and would reduce the place to smoking rubble. --The Grimch U! E! 13:18, 28 August 2008 (BST)
It seems you have forgotten that I was wrongly banned to begin with, which is why I even started making new accounts. I don't see why what I have done in the past makes any damn difference anyway, nothing I have done in any of my alt accounts have constituted vandalism except for simply existing. If I have shown anything it is that I do not conform to said above definition of "vandal" and hence should be immediately unbanned for that alone, otherwise the policy guidelines are giving false information (albeit I know it will not be that simple, as you have a habit of worming such things around to fit your interests). Why don't we give Gnome a chance to reply? In case you haven't noticed, you are NOT the sole sysop of the wiki and by extension you are NOT its dictator; you have no more say in my fate than any other administrator. At the least I feel I should at least receive a permaban vote, something I was denied when I was first perma'd. And as for your claims that "This place will turn to smoking rubble", as I have said many times, get a grip man! Its a video game instruction manual for heaven's sake! Why can't you vent your obsessive personality somewhere else, like on Xbox or something? Valiance 14:09, 28 August 2008 (BST)
Oh and Grim here's something for you, pulled straight off of your user page: I take my position seriously and will always do what i feel is both right and within the rules of the wiki.

Now please see the above rule I already took the liberty of pasting here. If you indeed follow the rules as closely as you say you do-without manipulating them in any way- then you must indeed unban me immediately for lack of bad faith and if not then honor the new rule guaranteeing a permaban vote. If you want to lawyer things up then that's what we'll do. Valiance 14:28, 28 August 2008 (BST)

The vandalism document does encourage users to reform, but permabans are for those who refuse to do so. You have shown a steadfast refusal to reform and adhere to the rules of this wiki, as such you have no place here. --The Grimch U! E! 15:23, 28 August 2008 (BST)

- I was unjustly punished as a vandal in the first place, so everything else I've done is someone else's fault.
- [New user name] Grim is mean.

- It's all Grim's fault.

Really. Perhaps there were a few harsh word directed at you, particularly warning #2 but you certainly were not unjustly banned. Regardless, this becomes a bit irrelevant after you look at all the many, many alternate accounts you used. Please stop making alternate accounts, and get a group member to edit your group page for you if you must. If there are no group members left, your group is defunct and it shouldn't matter, right? --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 23:07, 31 August 2008 (BST)

Actually, looking at the list, several of those accounts aren't even mine, which translates to Grim banning innocent people in his pursuit of me. Well done there, I can only laugh at you. As for me leaving, its not going to happen. You really should know that by now. I will be here FOREVER. There is NOTHING you can do to change that. I've been try to go about this in a civilized and professional way, but that has obviously failed. The only reason you have detected the accounts you have is because I intended it to be so, mostly because I used them to speak with you on my behalf (with the exception of Illusionist, and that took you 8 bloody months). I have many, many accounts that you haven't discovered yet, and I've used them to spread my will in various ways, from voting on suggestions to chatting with members of the various groups I am involved with. Good luck on your witch hunt, please take care not to ban innocent people this time. Aquatechnic 03:33, 1 September 2008 (BST)
A few of those were retroactively linked to you by IP addresses you used. Specifically, Tuong Lu Kim through Moderator Man. They had already been permad for huge amounts of vandalism. You acting up after being banned a large number of times, then trying to sweep it under the rug. The only reason i didnt spot illusionist at the time was because i was on a wikibreak, and you were not very active at all. No innocents have been banned. --The Grimch U! E! 03:51, 1 September 2008 (BST)

Not ridiculous

Not at all.... --WanYao 19:50, 8 September 2008 (BST)

I undid your removal of the Talk:Suggestion deletion request. The way I see it, you were dead wrong... There were two choices: either DDC is put up for Vandalism, for shitting up the Admin pages and/or doing something very close to putting deletions up for deletion (although Suggestions is not, as far as I can tell, technically an Admin page)... and if he is warned, his vandal edits are removed. Or, the deletions request is valid and legitimate. The former condition was not met... See the logic? Put DCC up for Vandalism if that request was "ridiculous"... --WanYao 20:50, 8 September 2008 (BST)
Show where the Policy is for Suggestion, please. I can't find any Policy covering that page and its system. I looked... Twice... Maybe I am looking in the wrong place. --WanYao 20:55, 8 September 2008 (BST)
Did you try the suggestions page?

Q. Can I send you some ideas?

A. All players are welcome to suggest alterations and additions that they think would improve the game - we can't guarantee that they'll be implemented, but anything submitted to the Suggestions page of the Urban Dead Wiki will certainly be passed on and read, if it passes peer review. --Kevan

I'm not going to put DCC up for vandalism because I don't see the point. Someone more annoyed than me might, but not me. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 21:01, 8 September 2008 (BST)

I'm not annoyed... But I'm not convinced. Your citation of the FAQ imo =/= policy. If it were, then, for example, fixed Revivification Points would be "official" due to this. Or Suburb danger levels are on some level officially sanctioned according to this comment from Kevan. Kevan adds things to the FAQ after it's added to the wiki: I'm not convinced this is any different. The only part of that FAQ that reads to me like a "policy" or "rule" is the infamous "completely seperate existences" thing... Yeah, yeah, I know I'm being pedantic here... >_> --WanYao 21:51, 8 September 2008 (BST)
Ok... If Keven set things up from day one like this... then, okay, yeah... but I haven't been around since 2005... --WanYao 21:54, 8 September 2008 (BST)
It would be rather silly to have something in the official FAQ when the pages mentioned don't exist. It's a part of the game... --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 00:58, 9 September 2008 (BST)
The FAQ can be changed in a matter of minutes. --WanYao 16:21, 9 September 2008 (BST)
But does Kevan want to? If someone wants some drastic change done they use A/PD, not a vote for deletion. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 18:56, 9 September 2008 (BST)

Wan, where is the "bad faith" in trying to get rid of a page that causes the most flame wars, trolling, and petty arguments? If anything I'm trying to help the community by removing a very hostile page. Maybe people like you, Iscariot, and DCC should not be allowed to be such assholes to other posters. Ever consider that? The suggestions page is clearly not an Admin page (just look at the main page). I seem to recall you doing stunts like that to "prove a point" or generate some debate about whatever injustice you think is going on on the wiki. That has been the case historically. Look at Jorm's stupid policy policy. And AHLG I apologize for my comment about you doing nothing on here. You put up with fuck heads like us and that seems to be more than enough! --Globetrotters Icon.png #99 DCC 00:12, 9 September 2008 (BST)

Yeah, that was our thinking when We put up the deletions page for deletions. The original poster wasn't warned so I'm not about warn you. Anyways, you have to admit that there are some good ideas and constructive comments on Talk:Suggestions, it's not all bad. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 00:58, 9 September 2008 (BST)
You completely missed my point, the WHOLE point, DCC. As well we all the relevant facts. Like, completely. You're so off base, in fact, this isn't even worth replying to... Ciao. --WanYao 12:02, 9 September 2008 (BST)
Except that, Gnome, I was under the impression that whoever it was who put the deletions page up for deletion was given a vandalism warning... If I am mistaken, then... ok. --WanYao 12:04, 9 September 2008 (BST)
Only Nali was warned because he kept putting it back up. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 18:56, 9 September 2008 (BST)
Alrighty, then, nothing to see here, move along... Except that I still don't consider the suggestions pages to be policy... but whatev's... --WanYao 11:55, 11 September 2008 (BST)

more picking your gnomish wiki brain

Do you have any idea how to make template calls like they have for, say {{subst:Unsigned}} ... basically to streamline filling in parts of a table for wiki-newbs. Specifically, I'd like to make it easy for people to submit to the Ronin Gallery... so those whom tables scare off will be able to just submit without me having to do all the work...
