First

This has always been an amusing event to watch in the past. Hope it stays that way. Couldn't quite make up what MX means though? --Umbrella-White.pngThadeous OakleyUmbrella-White.png 00:26, 13 August 2010 (BST)

Would be MMX, actually. :-P -- Spiderzed 00:36, 13 August 2010 (BST)

Voting

Seems like I misunderstood. I assumed that nomination is up until 16th, and then solely voting will take place. Or is both rolled into one? -- Spiderzed 00:41, 13 August 2010 (BST)

Public vote starts on the 16th, runs for two weeks. Then it's closed, top three results for each award are listed as the nominees and the panel then vote on those in private (I should probably set up an IRC for that), before the winners are announced on the 6th. Broadcasting

Should CORAM roll out the red carpet again for a Malton Murder MMX live broadcast via EBS? Our Calendar seems to be open that day and you'd be most welcome. Just beware the zerg when you come. --Vapor 02:59, 16 August 2010 (BST)

Would be much obliged. I should be able to host it as before, might sort out a co-host again. They never lynch children, babies—no matter what they do they are whitewashed in advance 03:08, 16 August 2010 (BST)
We've just steam-cleaned all the blood and semen from our red carpet. However, Coram is currently under constant heavy attack, let's hope we're free from ruin on 6th September. Of course, the more attendees who are available to arrive earlier than the 6th the more likely the venue will be intact on the night. --    : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : 13:57, 16 August 2010 (BST)

Too wide

Goes off page on 1024x. You're using a fixed size table, you bastard. I'll fix your little red dinghy! ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 02:06, 17 August 2010 (BST)

And fix'd. Well, should be. Lemme know if there are any hassles. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 02:11, 17 August 2010 (BST)
Partially undone, you messed up the gold bar titles. If you can find a way to keep them the full width and not just the width of the text they contain, feel free. Also vote. They never lynch children, babies—no matter what they do they are whitewashed in advance 02:20, 17 August 2010 (BST)
width:100%. Fix'd. (Also, did s'more stuff, discussed on IRC.) ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 02:38, 17 August 2010 (BST)

Meatpuppeting? I suppose that just because we happen to feel that we're the best new group, and are actually taking the time to come out and vote towards it, that means we don't deserve consideration... Is that the case here? It's not as though there's a campaigning page, and it's pretty hard to get a name out there unless you're a wiki/forum rat. That being said, I see no rule stating that members of a group may not vote for themselves. If we're not allowed to voice our opinions in favor of ourselves, truly believing that we're the best new group to form this year, then this whole event in nothing more than the circle-jerking of an elitist clique that wants to put a fancy tag on the wiki pages of some of their friends. I realize that responding like this is likely to anger a portion of the people who read it, but I'm insulted, and I'm going to stick up for myself, and my teammates. --Hiro Kazama 20:53, 17 August 2010 (BST)
I'm just hoping they don't just pick you because you have the most. I'm also not accusing you of trying to game the system, I just don't want the judges to misconstrue this as genuine community support.--User:Yonnua Koponen/signature2 20:57, 17 August 2010 (BST)
Could you define "community" for me? I was pretty sure that individuals make up a community. Does it have to be people that don't ever play with us for the vote to count? What's the rules you think we should play by? Or should only mod votes count? What do we have to do for our voices to count? Or do you just not like the fact that we're speaking for ourselves?--Hiro Kazama 21:45, 17 August 2010 (BST)
I'm going to let both of you know that you're arguing needlessly, no matter how many people do or do not agree with the number of people voting X, Y or Z, it's ultimately up to a neutral panel to decide in the end anyway. They never lynch children, babies—no matter what they do they are whitewashed in advance 21:47, 17 August 2010 (BST)
Sorry, think you're misunderstanding me. :P I'm not saying your voices shouldn't count, but you can obviouly see that it's different if 8 unaffiliated people back a group to if 8 group members back it? I was just making sure the judges knew that you were the same group.--User:Yonnua Koponen/signature2 21:48, 17 August 2010 (BST)
Well, calling it "meatpuppeting" insinuates some form of cheating or underhandedness. The reason we had several votes in a line like that is that I brought the awards up to my team and said I nominated us. Fair to say, they agreed with the sentiment.--Hiro Kazama 21:55, 17 August 2010 (BST)
That's actually the definition of meatpuppeting. :P One person telling others to vote who otherwise would be unlikely to. There's nothing wrong with it, I just felt it should be pointed out. :P -User:Yonnua Koponen/signature2 21:57, 17 August 2010 (BST)
That's a weird dictionary you've got. I've always understood meatpuppeting to be synonomous with sockpuppeting, which is to make multiple accounts with which to vote. I think our in game actions should speak more for us, anyway, but then who's going to find out who we are if we don't speak up somehow? We can't just slap a link to ourselves on the front page of the wiki.--Hiro Kazama 22:36, 17 August 2010 (BST)
You're both annoying me, I've already made this situation crystal clear. As page owner I'll remove this argument if it continues. They never lynch children, babies—no matter what they do they are whitewashed in advance 22:37, 17 August 2010 (BST)

So....

I was under the impression the top 3 voted nominees were then ordered by the panel? Is that not the case? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 22:44, 17 August 2010 (BST)

Well a winner is picked from them, but there's no 1st, 2nd, 3rd ordering, why? They never lynch children, babies—no matter what they do they are whitewashed in advance 22:45, 17 August 2010 (BST)

Best Newcomer eligibility

Malton Murder Awards MMX: Best Newcomer:
This award will go to the player who has made the biggest impact since starting the game, provided the joined within the past 12 months.

Natasha Fatale joined UD in March 2009. My candidate even joined in '07 (thought he was younger, looking how Glitch only recently entered the metagame). The only two eligible nominated so far are Umpa Lumpa and myself, and that even barely (having both joined on August 16th or 22th, respectively). So, whatcha gonna do? Amend the rules, or enforce them strictly? -- Spiderzed 12:46, 21 August 2010 (BST)

Hmm. Last year it was 18 months, but then again that was to account for last year's awards being late. I guess I could extend it out to 18 months again to keep it even, if everyone is okay with that. They never lynch children, babies—no matter what they do they are whitewashed in advance 18:50, 21 August 2010 (BST)
So everyone since Feb '09 would be eligible? (Which would include Natasha Fatale.) Let's see what her fan club has to say about that. -- Spiderzed 13:50, 22 August 2010 (BST)
Honestly, as much as I would like to say "yes" since I did vote for her, I really hate the idea of changing the rules after the fact for anything that's in progress. Especially so with contests and the like, since it just reeks of unfairness and bias, regardless of any accusations that may arise later. That said, if the panel wants to create a one-off award for Natasha to recognize her achievement, I don't think many would object (I certainly wouldn't). The fact that my PKer was started in the last year only factored into my decision a bit did not factor into my decision. >_> Aichon 19:24, 22 August 2010 (BST)
I see points for and against. I think it's sort of sad that someone in a similar position in Natasha could have started say a month before the deadline and therefore only have been at, say, level 5 when last years awards were on, but then become ineligible even though they were only PKing after the awards, when they were capable level-wise, etc. so my main gripe is with the actual wording of the rule compared to its purpose. It really depends. In terms of sheer proness, Natasha should smash this award right up, even though I didn't vote for her, but I understand that she shouldn't qualify due to the letter of the law. In terms of the spirit of the law, she should be let in IMO, but it's up to the organisers as to whether she could. -- 01:40, 23 August 2010 (BST)

Alright, it are now just 3 days left before all voting ends. As this affects a lot of votes currently, any decisions on this point by you and/or the judge panel, Mis? -- Spiderzed 21:01, 26 August 2010 (BST)

I'm thinking that each voter who put forward a vote for Natasha can reconsider if they wish to cast their vote for her for Best Individual. If the voters decide that they really want to keep their votes lodged for best newcomer, then, well, it's hardly a Malties without something going wrong, is it? They never lynch children, babies—no matter what they do they are whitewashed in advance 21:38, 26 August 2010 (BST)

Awards MIA

I'm saddened some of the more entertaining awards from last time are missing. Who can sleep at night knowing a "Best Dressed" Malty is not on the shelf of Malton's best dressed Man/Woman? Or the "best target"? Does Dhave Grohl not deserve a shelf full of these prestigious awards? What of 'Services to the Industry' so that DT can turn it down again? Best Bounty Hunter? Surely that has to mean more to Pker's than something called 'Bahz Gang'. These and other awards have been bumped off the docket to make room for...Bahz Mamanz? Say it isn't so...Say it isn't so. --Hibernaculum 20:12, 22 August 2010 (BST)
