PKer Awards

Best PKer Group

  1. Cobra (group) - It's been five months and almost 400 kills since the split, and we're going stronger than ever. Can't argue with numbers like that. ~~ Chief Seagull ~~ talk 15:26, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
  2. The Malton GlobeTrotters. They keep it real--Rapture 03:29, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

  7. Heathers Petite Fille 11:59, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

  8. DJ Talent Petite Fille 12:01, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
  9. bobby pegleg - He killed DJ Talent before DJ Talent had a chance to kill off all members of Desu Nōto. It was a shame. DJ Talent was pretty close to achieving his goal. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 01:10, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
  10. Caesar Augustus - He has a rather large kill total. --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™ 17:23, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Best PKer Moment

  1. Axe Hack's Manhunt 4: It was going to be nominated, why not get it out of the way? The bloodiest manhunt to date featuring a who's who of who's killing you. --Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  Tuesday, 1 November 2011
  2. The splintering of Cobra and the still lingering grudge that it caused. ~Vsig.png 02:54, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

  7. Everyone Who Hates Zergs vs ACC. As covered here, here, here or here (restricted access). It started out as a little misunderstanding when ACC PKed zerg hunters, and then escalated when ACC stepped up to declare zerg hunters who kill survivor zergers during a mall siege as traitors to the survivor cause. What followed was a massive PKing campaign when Cobras, Philosophe Knights, PHOBIA, Saints and many, many, many others ganged up to hunt ACC across the map and slay them whereever they were. As a bonus, during the hunt ACC's leader was exposed as a zerger himself. -- Spiderzed 13:14, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Zombie/Death-Cult Awards

Best Zombie Group

  1. The Dead 2.0 - who else? They tore this city to shreds. ~~ Chief Seagull ~~ talk 15:28, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
  2. The Dark Order of Armageddon - I would willingly be killed by these fellows just to hear the kill-speech. So good. --DTPraise KnowledgePK 04:35, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

  4. Zalp Helpful Zombies for Harman kind --Josh Clark 02:42, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
  5. Clubbed to Death They fight hard and smell funny. Except for 5-6 weeks last fall, these club-loving zombies have kept Gulsonside red for two years. Coordination, diligence and a sense of cheerful competition makes this group the best damned zombies in Malton. --Bad Attitude BarbieSDN 05:30, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
  6. Feral Undead The extreme discipline they showed in pretending to be trying to get into Fort Perryn a few months ago was simply the best strategic move I've seen, ACC sat there waiting and waiting but nothing happened - Ive never seen a survivor group leave due to boredom before. Shame the dead arrived so we could not see "The Final Solution"--Rapture 20:57, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Best Zombie

  1. Jorm - Toss up between him and a lot of other venerable zombies (bullgod, petro, Kieth Moon, War Criminal etc), but hey, he's the Boss, yeah? --DTPraise KnowledgePK 04:35, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Best Zombie Moment

  1. The March of the Dead 2011: After a long period of semi-dormancy, the Dead resurfaced with the help of Death cultist subsidiaries and drove survivors to the brink of extinction. --Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  Tuesday, 1 November 2011
  2. March of the Dead. No question. ~Vsig.png 02:56, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
  3. March of The Dead 2 - kills loads of people, wrecked most of the city and turned the map red. Nuff said. ~~ Chief Seagull ~~ talk 15:28, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Bounty Hunter Awards

Best Bounty Hunter Group

  1. Team Extreme. ~Vsig.png 02:56, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
  2. Team Xtreme. Hands down the most collaborative, coordinated and assiduous group of bounty hunters working in Malton today. Led by Josh Clark and and his second, Katie Burns, Team Xtreme's work has influenced the lives of survivors, the un-lives of zombies and the should-get-a-lives of text rapists. Malton is a better place because of them. --Bad Attitude BarbieSDN 03:25, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
  3. Fallen Saints - Rabbit and Cutter are a gruesome twosome. ~~ Chief Seagull ~~ talk 15:30, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
The ironic part: Both Robbie the Rabbit and Carrie Cutter are Josh Clark and Jess Cutter, respectively, who are ironically in Team Xtreme. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:20, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
    The irony is so ironic :P ~Vsig.png 02:19, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
  4. Fascist Pig Hunters - Not really any other options, tbh. --DTPraise KnowledgePK 04:37, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
-I second this nomination! - Aquanut—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Aquanut (talkcontribs) at an unknown time.
  5. Team Xtreme. Never backs down, never retreats, never lets you down, never gives your freshly-bullet-ridden ass up. --Penguinpyro 01:19, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
  6. Team Xtreme has over the last year been the most consistently excellent BHer group around. There are others and others doing good work today, but no other is so well managed at this time. --RichterFury 03:40, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
  7. Fascist Pig Hunters. The name says it all --Rapture 21:02, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
  8. Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon - They're a fairly new BHer group that kicked off about one or two months ago, and already they're making a name for themselves by successfully taking on Cobra and RDD. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 01:10, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Wait, let me get this straight. Cobra has a falling out amidst much drama. The group splits in two after much name calling, killing of each other, and arbitration on the wiki. Then a group that consists of at least on alt (I'm led to believe that Spiderzed is a member of the group nominated here) of one of those Cobras (we'll call them Spiderzed's faction), takes on the other Cobra? So...One Cobra (Spiderzed's faction) is attacking/fighting with another Cobra, and then using their alts to attack the other Cobra as well? Is that really what you're saying? Or is Spiderzed not a member of this group? Or have I completely misunderstood what you're saying? -- Bisfan 02:30, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Spidey's not a member of the Senshi from what I can tell. And yes, you have misunderstood what I said. You should check the links. The Cobra linked here is the Cobra that was hijacked by RDD, not Spidey's Cobra. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 03:05, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
The confusion arises from the fact that /whowas on the Nexuswar IRC server showed that both SailorMoon and Spiderzed connect to the server from the same hostmask. -- Bisfan 04:29, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

  6. Duck J With over 292 claims to his name and arguably the best BHer moment this year, Duck J unquestionably strikes fear into the hearts of PKers (and those allergic to fine duck down) everywhere.--Ciscokitty 04:35, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
  7. Nicholas Risto - And I DARE you to say otherwise. --DTPraise KnowledgePK 04:37, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
  8. Josh Clark. So badass, the Malton Globetrotters went to the effort of spending a month on him and only him.--Penguinpyro 01:16, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
  9. While Nicholas Risto to this day has the highest bounty bucks total (by a good amount too I believe), my vote has to go to Ciscokitty for her work against text rapists and other unsavories across Malton. --RichterFury 03:40, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
  10. Hagnat.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 13:44, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
  11. Erica Rackham Deadly, classy, hot as hell. Plus she still bothers to upload taunt screenies to the new RG, despite it being a right faff. I see no point in BHing without taunts, so, far as I'm concerned, Erica has kept BHing alive. --Sophie ◆◆◆ CAPD 16:11, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
  12. Josh Clark - There's no question about it. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 01:10, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
  13. Erica Rackham Definitely. The Pagram Librarian prefers being killed by Erica over anyone else. Raven Corvus is a close second. --Grogh 06:06, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
  14. Duck J: Skilled, dedicated, loyal and re-lent-less. One of the highest total bounty claims this game has ever seen. Clearly one of the finest bounty hunters in Malton over the past many years. Leon Silverblood 06:32, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
  15. User:Raven Corvus - she has great taste in pistols. ~~ Chief Seagull ~~ talk 14:24, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
  16. Erica RackhamShe is by far the classiest, most skilled Bounty Hunter in Malton. She can shoot me any day. --Akbar 03:46, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

  4. Shirley Ghostman's assault on the PKer group CCPD. --Kirsty Cotton Org XIII 21:45, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
  5. The organization of creating a universal PK List way back in 2005, that eventually split into The PK List and the Rogues Gallery. Without it, we wouldn't have a handy way of determining who is the best bounty hunter. --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™ 17:36, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Harmanbargar Awards

Best Survivor Group

  1. SDN: A new survivor super-group that has proven itself this year with successful large scale operations in Ridleybank, Whittenside, Gulsonside, and Dunnell Hills against Malton's largest and most organized zombie groups.--Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  Tuesday, 1 November 2011
  2. Skynet Defense Network Yes! They are a rough and tough bunch! --Josh Clark 22:57, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
  3. Skynet Defense Network: An amazing survivor group that is well organized and fun. They come in, clean up and leave. No muss no fuss. You don’t even know that they’ve been there until they’ve already left and your suburb is all shiny and new. Well alright, if you're a zombie, you might know sooner. --Aliahnnyah 02:36, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
  4. Reddit survivors. These guys really have their shit together. ~Vsig.png 02:40, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
  5. Close Personal Friends of Anime Sucks. When the Dead rolled the silent gang got down to business, no PR, no fanfare just simple hard work --Rapture 03:34, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
  6. Close Personal Friends of Anime Sucks -- As above. Seriously the best I've seen. --DTPraise KnowledgePK 04:39, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
  7. The Cryptkeepers I like the work they are doing in Miltown.--User:Sexualharrison19:35, 2 November 2011 (bst)
  8. As it does not seem appropriate to nominate my own alt's group and I'm unable to nominate all of our allies, my vote has to go to Malton Rangers. They have been right there alongside SDN almost every step of the way and have contributed strongly to survivor efforts overall by helping to revive the New Malton Colossus. --RichterFury 03:40, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
  9. SDN. They have pie. --Penguinpyro 07:17, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
  10. CAPD. Other groups like the Randoms or 404 have probably been more effective against The Dead, but from a PKer POV, they were the most fun target. Attacked them twice this year with SWA and Red Rum, and had a blast each time. Would do it again. -- Spiderzed 15:28, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

  2. Saromu - Look at his resume. No, really. LOOK. --DTPraise KnowledgePK 04:39, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
  3. Albert Schwan - This survivor has it all. He has the brains the Zombies crave, he has gotten the Heathers panties in a wad so much they try to grief him, he has worked with many survivor groups in many operations across Malton. He is truly a Survivor --Josh Clark 02:42, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
  4. Bad Attitude Barbie for her tireless efforts in promoting survivor coordination and sound strategy as commander of Skynet Defense Network. --RichterFury 03:40, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
  5. Bad Attitude Barbie for having grown the nominated Best (and Best New) Survivor Group SDN during (and before) the March of The Dead 2.0, bringing to life SDN's vision of a collaborative Malton by consistently being a driving force behind over a dozen multi-group operations across the map; for unprecedented success against elite zed groups ; and for personally influencing the March (scared them into closing their public SomethingAwful recruitment and coordination thread, thereby strangling their hitherto snowballing growth rate). For kicking butt and chewing John Connors. Leon Silverblood 06:37, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
Seconded. Babs has proven to be a high caliber leader and tactician. She handled the absorption of the AZS with respect and grace, squashing all potential drama before it even began. Best Survivor Moment

  1. Everyone vs The Dead 2011: In an event that shaped the face of Malton, Survivors rallied after being reduced to their lowest number in some time. Eventually, the push back involved almost all major groups, including some zombies and PKers, who all worked to turn the tide. The resulting map had but two red suburbs and was mostly green.--Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  Tuesday, 1 November 2011
Don't forget the crazy search rates the survivors had and the dead's numbers quickly dwindling. Chances are if they wanted to the map would still be a sea of red        13:33, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
  2. The Christmas Trees diverting half of the Dead on a frantic search to be grinch. --Rapture 03:37, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
  3. First Siege of Caiger. This should be a no-brainer. --DTPraise KnowledgePK 04:39, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
  4. Skynet Defence Network, Team Xtreme, Malton Rangers, Knights Templar, The Fortress, MCDU, The Wraiths, Malton Restoration Society, and Foxhound battle Clubbed to Death, The Dead 2.0, and Feral Zombies in Gulsonside. For the 6 week long reversal of 2 years of Red Status of the suburb, and unruining of the majority of buildings around the burb.--Josh Clark 02:53, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
  5. The survivor counter offensive and C.R.A.P. against the Dead. Biggest damn battle Malton's had in a while, and as legendary a comeback as it gets.--Penguinpyro 07:13, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Ineptitude Awards

Most Inept Group

  1. The Heathers: This once notable PKer group spent the end of 2010 and the entirety of 2011 hunting (with only moderate success) the same group of survivors for whom they were awarded a 2010 MMA. Even though those survivors neither hid nor retaliated, the Heathers continued to tout it as a landslide victory. With no original taunts in a year, no need to hunt their prey, no threat of reprisal, and only occasional diversions into other unsuccessful operations, they stand as a testament to laziness and ineptitude in the field of PKing truly worthy of this award. --Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  Tuesday, 1 November 2011
  2. The Original Cobra for a number of reasons, but mainly for this rather grandiose claim they they would grief us (the other Cobra faction) out of the game if we didn't quit the group. Five months later, we're still very much alive and thriving! FAIL! ~~ Chief Seagull ~~ talk 15:23, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
  3. Skynet. Absorbing a load of medicocre groups simply makes a medium sixed mediocre group, Good PR and chest thumping, usually poor operations. --Rapture 03:32, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
  4. Skynet - as Rapture; plus the worst RPing a pro-survivor group has done yet. We're coming to get you, Barbara 04:32, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Judge's Area

For one thing, I want to keep JP discussion this year as transparent as possible, so I try to keep as much of it on the wiki as possible. Of course, cat-herding 5 folks without employing forums PMs, e-mail and IRC will be tough, so this plan is almost guaranteed to fail, but it is still something I will try to. -- Spiderzed 16:45, 27 October 2011 (BST)

Categories

Any comment's from my fellow judges about the categories? Carrie wondered on IRC if we could have a survivor category this year. -- Spiderzed 16:45, 27 October 2011 (BST)

I'm totally down with a survivor category. Since we already cover PK'ers,BH'ers and zeds, why not? Only seems fair. Any decent PK'er worth their salt will have encountered some survivor group whom they'll have gained a little respect for after all. Let's see a best/wittiest taunt in here too. Bit of recognition for those class one liners that often get missed. ~ Kempy “YaketyYak” | ◆◆◆ | CAPD | 17:05, 27 October 2011 (BST)
Oh, Best Taunt. Yes, that deserves its own entry. Last year, all such attempts got swamped out by broader PKer events like the war on ACC. -- Spiderzed 22:44, 27 October 2011 (BST)

Time Range

Checking for the man-hunt events, I saw that Red October ends on November 22 and that AHMH5 starts on December 2. I'd prefer a clean cut that gives people some wiggling room to vote for the current event without bleeding over into the next, so I'd like to change the end date to November 30 (giving one week to evaluate and vote for RO2, without overlapping into AHMH5). Anyone against that? -- Spiderzed 12:38, 28 October 2011 (BST)

Restrict Other Awards to PKers?

While I won't take away any existing awards, we should still try to adress the lack of focus on PKers. For that purpose, I'd say we restrict Other Awards solely to PKers. Since the pro-active part of the overall new March of the Dead was driven by the zombie side, I would file it under zombie moment. Particular smaller events within that scope driven by survivors might fall under survivor event. -- Spiderzed 01:24, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

nope just gay--User:Sexualharrison13:12, 2 November 2011 (bst)
I think there is barely enough dedicated life-culting to have enough of a pool of alts for any kind of dedicated award. There is only one group really dedicated to it. Otherwise, survivors just use life-culting a rarely used tactic of opportunity. File them under survivor if you really want to, but why would you? -- Spiderzed 18:16, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Says the man with the rainbow-pooping pop-tart cat in his signature? Appreciate the thought though Son of Sin but Spiderzed is right, there are too few of us for a category as yet. I would argue that life-cultists should be grouped in with zombies if you want to nominate. They do most of their work without a pulse after all. --Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  Thursday, 3 November 2011

ah but i also have tasty boobies in this sig also.--User:Sexualharrison17:54, 3 November 2011 (bst)
Oh and I forgot to answer the "why would you". Well, maybe because it is..the best strategy ever! It is justified by the zombie Mythos and it gets right under the rotting stenchie skin of zombies who take their zombie pride too seriously. Other than that, *shrugs* no reason. ;) --Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  Thursday, 3 November 2011
Stenchie? Is that the zombie equivalent to trenchie? ~Vsig.png 20:24, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
Yep. You can thank Illwind of the FU for that one. You know the type: profile reads "Big shambling pile of death covered in blood with the bones of his enemies still stuck in his teeth...etc" gets bent out of shape about CRs. --Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  Thursday, 3 November 2011
My goodness, Albert, how do you come up with some of this stuff? That's no more illwind's profile than it is his attitude about CRs. He actually likes to chatter with survivors on the rare occasion he's CR'ed. If he doesn't want to be up and about, he might roll his eyes and then window dive but he certainly doesn't bitch about getting CR'ed. But another subject that caught my eye here is whether Zkers and Life Cultist should be classified as survivors or zombies, and I would argue that neither group should ever be considered a "zombie" in spite of their state of being. Motivation and intent speak far louder than whether someone is breathing or not. As in my own case, when I'm breathing I may throw a compassionate needle here or slap a FAK there but if the barricades are coming down, I promise you that I'll watch that building burn to the ground and not lift a finger to stop it. Zedren need to feed even if I'm a side dish on the menu, so what does that say about my motivation and intent regardless of my breathing status? When you Life ZALP'ers start breaking down barricades for something other than correcting a pinata, let me know and I'll reassess my evaluation here. Petite Fille 11:49, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
Before this gets out of hand I think you misinterpreted my statement. I was not calling Illwind a stenchie, I was saying that he coined the term. The profile text was generic example. Illwind is a great zombie and a nice person to have around. The same goes for his reanimated hand and for you. As far as life cultist, "Zombie is a state of mind" is Bra!nzbarg propaganda. Zombie is a biological state, everything beyond that is barhah. The one useful thing Zombie George of your group ever said to me was when he chastised me with "who are you to define barhah for me?" I urge you not to make my mistake. Biologically we are zombies. We consider ourselves zombies. We are unlikely to win anything here, so if we could please leave the drama off of the event page. I am happy enough to have this discussion on a life culting page where it belongs. --Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  Saturday, 5 November 2011

Zombie awards had already been issued in 2010 without much protest. As for the nominations, the MMA is what people make of it. If a BHer ends up among the three bests, there is little a judge can do about it but to nominate someone more deserving to even the odds. -- Spiderzed 19:28, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
(ec) I introduced the zombie awards last year as I felt they justified "murder" more than a lot of the other fields. I had also phased out bounty hunters last year because, well, fuck them; and I still don't really see the point in bringing them back. I'm also pretty disappointed that standalone death cult fields have been pared out, and full pro-survivor stuff has been introduced. Guess I shouldn't have aimed for a winter timeslot this year. :/ We're coming to get you, Barbara 19:30, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
I would point out that PKers are players too. That means bounty hunters are player killers by definition. Logically they belong here as they do contribute to the industry--Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  Thursday, 3 November 2011
I've been more or less staying out of the survivor categories because I don't feel that is what MMA is about. Bounty hunters are just bureaucratic PKers in my eyes. They deserve a category in MMA I think but I won't personally nominate them for "Best Of" awards outside of the BH category. So yeah, I don't know what happened here either. I don't think it has anything to do with the planning of it per se it's just that survivors have taken peculiar interest in the awards this year. ~Vsig.png 19:50, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
I merged death-cults into zombies because there were so few different nominations last year... Users really had to struggle just to get three different cultists nominated. I see death-culting anyway rather as a technique that is used by zombie groups to varying degrees, than as a good clear-cut way of describing a group.
As for BHers, they were called for last year, so I decided to bring them back.
As for survivors, a judge brought up the idea, and no one else on the panel saw objections, so we decided to give it a try. If everyone hates it, it can always be dropped in future years. But without trying it out, we will never know. -- Spiderzed 19:54, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
What? Are you referring to my comment there? I wasn't calling for them to be added to the Lifetime Achievement or Services to the Industry categories or to have their own section of awards. It was just a call to return their one little piece in a Pker award ceremony. To honor the best of our mutual enemies. Anyway, what's done is done. --Hibernaculum 20:10, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

If it helps any you can think of the survivor section from a PKer perspective: a section to honor those of your victims who are a little better at not being victims. It seems to me much like an expanded version of the opposite of the bullet-sponge award of past. It is a bit odd but it injects a bit of graciousness into the event. Though my Manhunter and many of you often choose to be assholes, there is nothing in the rules to say that PKers can’t be gracious. A survivor group has hosted the event many times after all. --Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  Friday, 4 November 2011
As a member since January 2007, I can confirm that the Philosophe Knights are assholes who have no respect whatsoever for people who fight zombies. We are also never gracious, thoughtful, polite, or honorable. This explains why several of us are suggesting that these extraneous Survivor and Zombie Horde categories have no place in the Malton Murder Awards.
The Malton Murder Awards have always been about living characters (PKers/Death Cultists) who kill living characters (anything breathing, esp. Pro-Survivors), with a few categories celebrating either the very best enemy a PKer/Death Cultist can have (Bounty Hunters/Dedicated Anti-PKers), and (especially) the most pitiful enemy to have ("oh god someone shoot at me what I do? kevan save me from greefer! How do I shot axe?").
This is an awards ceremony centered around those people who spend their time shooting people who can shoot back (though hopefully faster and with more accuracy). The categories ought to reflect that. There already exists a Zombie Horde Award (The Brainies), and while there may not be a Pro-Survivor Award (Actually, is there one? Can someone go check?), that does not excuse this intrusion upon the MMA 2011.

You're most welcome, of course. But perhaps you'd care to elaborate on certain points? Such as why the Murder Awards merit the inclusion of “Best Survivor Moment”? The “Best BHer Moment” is already there, so I cannot imagine that the Best Survivor Moment has anything to do with Living vs Living combat.
I also note that “Most Notorious PKer” is no longer in the listing, having been sacrificed, presumably, for the sake of those finest few seconds in Pro-Survivor History. I doubt that its absence is a hold-over from last year, as you certainly re-added a number of categories which were butchered by Misanthropy (including a number of the staple categories from years past). An indication of good categories was from 2009, if you'd like to get an image of what is expected of the Malton Murder Awards.
To be fair: this idea of universal awards is a fine one. But please do not call it the “Malton Murder Awards”. The MMA is a rather specific set of awards, perhaps marred as of recent by poor management, but with three quite good years against the doubtful last year and its gloomy-looking current year. If you'd like to do well by the PKer community, you'll rectify the situation by moving this to a page with a title which reflects the broad aspect of the categories. But to keep this as the Red Rum Malton Murder Awards is rather disgraceful.
Thank you for your time. --DTPraise KnowledgePK 00:36, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
See, there you go again. "If you'd like to do well by the PKer community, you'll rectify the situation by moving this yadayadayada..."
Guess what matey. You don't actually speak for the PK'er community. In fact, the people you do seem to be representing, isn't so much a community, but an online council estate. Loudmouthed thugs and time wasters, buying into their own hype. here's a wee newsflash for you Tommy, no-one actually gives a monkeys about you, or (gasp) Red Rum's blessing. SZ took the initiative to host this years awards because quite frankly, you lot had given up the ghost and clearly couldn't be arsed putting in the hours. If anything, he should be commended for trying, but no... because yet another of your lot has a grudge against him, you've all decided to dick about and attempt to turn the event into a mockery. So fucking transparent, each and all of you. Like myself, and the rest of the panel, SZ is a PK'er, and we've just as much right as you and your cronies to host this bash. More so in fact, cos' we still actively contribute to the 'community'. So, I'd thank you if you'd stop making such a drama over nothing, deflate that chest, and stop pretending you're some kind of Marlon Brando figure, who speaks for us all. Cos' truth is, you don't.
You've voiced your opinion that you don't like the current set up this year. Duly noted, thanks for your input. What's done is done however, and as SZ mentioned earlier, votes have been cast in the categories, so removing them on you, or anyone else say, because you object, or renaming the entire event, would be silly. You want to come in here all big man, then act like one. Get over it and accept that things just are, the way they are.
...or better yet, next year, pull your finger out and actually make a contribution to the 'community' again. Maybe then people will care for your opinion. ~ Kempy “YaketyYak” | ◆◆◆ | CAPD | 01:49, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
Thank you very much for the response. I appreciate what you are saying, and I do understand where you are coming from. I also appreciate the amount of you all have put into it, and I applaud your work ethic and motivation. I do not mean to offend anyone with my requests for a return to the traditional format.
However, I must point out that you haven't answered certain questions I had. You probably missed them in all of my paragraphs (so sorry about that, I just can't stop typing sometimes!). In particular, I asked about the "Most Notorious" category. It really is one of the most expected categories in the MMA, and I dare say an awful lot of people will be disappointed not to see it.
Also, I can certainly relate to the frustration felt by yourself and spiderzed (and the rest of the organizers, of course) over the lack of energy in the PKing community these days. It's all a bit scattered these days, isn't it? I do have some questions regarding the methods you used in determining that no MMA was forthcoming from Red Rum. I've spoken to several core members of Red Rum and they related that they'd been waiting for the end of November before opening the voting booths, so to speak.
And of course Spiderzed is a PKer (as are you and the rest of the judges). Nobody has said anything to the contrary, and I'd be unamused if someone tried to "Blanemcc's a PKer?" any of you. I believe you have gotten the wrong end of the stick here, because whether the organizers are active PKers or not is definitely not a serious complaint (and I advise you to ignore the suggestion should it ever come up).
In fact, I doubt there would be so much as a peep from any of us had there not been such a departure from the normal format. The Malton Murder Awards is, I'm afraid, not one which reacts well to things like "let's share" and "desegregation between playstyles". And while I'm sure that many people will be happy to protest for equal awards rights for the revive-point tenders (and the revive-point tippers), the appropriate response for an attendant of the Malton Murder Awards is to give a witty retort and shoot said sign-wavers in their soft, heavily-bleeding bellies. It's the spirit of the Murder Awards, you see. It's about murder. Killing people without their consent is the basic premise of the event. If it's a bit discriminatory, well, that's bad, but fair. Because 'Bad People' are running it for the entertainment of other 'Bad People'. Letting the 'Good People' in and allowing them to run around, getting all the good seats, and pinching the little gold statues is definitely not what the MMA was created for. It belongs to the murderers, is what I'm saying, and I'm afraid that it looks to many people like you've given it to the other sort of people.
I'm not here to make this event a mockery, as you put it. I also have no grudge against Spiderzed (who is a gentleman, a good sport, and a damn fine Zerg-catcher to boot), against yourself, or any other organizer of this page. I quite like every one of you, except for Sexual Harrison, whom I absolutely love. I am here because I don't want this years MMA to turn out like last years. No offense intended to the people who organized the MMA X, but it was a bit of a mess. The wiki design was lovely but it was beginning to lose the Murder part of it. I'm worried that these unorthodox categories you've added will set the precedent further, cementing the Malton Murder Awards as an award ceremony which can be described as "Name Unrelated".
Perhaps I'm a bit too conservative for you, but I really do feel that you ought to move the voting to a different page name. It wouldn't take a moment to do, and it would really open up the voting to those people who wouldn't be caught dead voting in an "internet sociopath" competition, as well as sounding ever so slightly more relevant to the greater Survivor and Zombie communities. I imagine that many of both sides read "come vote on the Malton MURDER Awards" and feel that this sort of award isn't really their scene.
And I am certainly not suggesting that you, Spiderzed, and the rest of the organizers 'give up' the MMA to someone else (although I'll volunteer to help, if you'll have me). All I am asking for is that the MMA remain dedicated to the murderous spirit that conceived it. Last year it was the zombies that were the unwelcome interlopers, this year it's the hordes and the pro-survivors. The previous sentence, I think, would be a decent (if somewhat vague) summary of the greatest complaint I've seen about this MMA.
This is not a personal attack on the organizers. This is an attempt to return the MMA to its roots.
And thank you again for reading all my very many words, and Praise Knowledge. --DTPraise KnowledgePK 02:44, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
As for page ownership, the MMA have always been a.) an event and b.) have always been in the mainspace. My impression was always that it was done by whoever got around to organize it, rather than an event strictly tied to any particular group like RR or the PKA. (In which case it should be a group sub-page, which would give RR or whomever full undisputed control over the event.)
As we are already 3 months later than last year and the PKer community seems overall silent (apart from the highly visible reboot of FOD), my impression was that it has dropped off the radar of everyone, so I went ahead and tooled something up on short notice in time for the end of the year.
As for categories, I am not going to drop any - what is entered and has been voted on stands. (Survivor looks like something to be kicked next year, though, given how much flak it has received by now and continues to receive. Zombie had some more mixed results, but is also definitively something that will deserve a hard look.)
We can always talk about adding more, though. Most Notorious sounds good enough to me. -- Spiderzed 21:59, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
As a member in good standing of the survivor community, I would like to thank DT for the well thought out explanation of his outrage. I would also like to thank him for making my comments look more brief than usual by comparison. As a new member of the PKing community though, I would like to second Spiderzed's comment and articulate that 1 and ¼ years after the last MMA, I and many others had given up on it happening again. If an event like this is not regular, categories referring to a best event/ moment in the last year become difficult, and important categories like “best newcomer” become all but irrelevant. Spiderzed and the others decided to pick it up and for that I think the PKer community owes them at least some gratitude. Enough to praise the job they are doing though you disagree with it? Perhaps not, but at least enough to concede to allow them to do it in peace. The event was in a public space, the preservation of the awards requires that something happens each yea, and wiki favors the bold. They made it happen for the community while other preparations occurred behind closed doors and were not even mentioned until now. This event had a planning stage, as one can see from the edits, and I am sure that input at that time might have changed the shape of these awards. None came. To address ownership, this award may have been started by Redrum, but it has its own namespace. By the admission of both sides, it serves and belongs to the PKer community, as is only proper on a wiki. A group of PKers claimed it and a group of PKers decided to honor survivors and zombies in some of the categories. That decision may be out of keeping with historic precedent but it was made and agreed upon with no voice of dissension being heard until after it had been implemented and nominations had been made. It is not required that you agree with them, just that you understand them and, to quote an animated dog, “deal with it”. Cast your dissension in votes, boycott it, do it better next year. Few would question the right of vetted groups like the Knights or Redrum to claim/reclaim this event moving forward. But trying to alter or cancel an event in progress is a disservice to those who took its organization upon themselves in good faith when others would not and a disservice to the UD community in its entirety. --Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  Friday, 11 November 2011

Perhaps you are right.

I had a longer response to all kind of things typed up. Then I realized my last point is the only one I really need to make. Let's put aside the survivors and Bher's that have become part of this. They don't really matter to me. I'm speaking to the Pkers. The real ones and the ones who fashion themselves as such. The question has occurred to me - What exactly are we celebrating here? What have we done that deserves "awards"?. Our ranks have dwindled, our effectiveness a shadow of what it could be. It's all bark and no bite anymore. This is the golden age for survivors. They can play the game and only worry about the zeds. You hear those cries? It's the lament of Bher's everywhere as they all fall into deep sleep with unworthy prey to hunt. Where's the Pker impact anymore? We need to get our shit together and then maybe consider patting ourselves on the back. --Hibernaculum 16:02, 11 November 2011 (UTC)

It'd probably be a shame not to do it over the emergency broadcast system, I've found it a good way to keep the event from seeming too wiki-centric. I always found camping out in the Coram Building for a few weeks beforehand was useful as well, built a bit more interest and made sure it was evident how safe the area was or wasn't. UDWiki uses a "one person, one vote" principle for all votes and similar discussions where individual preferences are counted in any fashion. Accordingly, sock puppets may not be used to give the impression of more support for a viewpoint. This includes voting multiple times in any policy vote, or using more than one account in a discussion at Suggestions, UDWiki:Moderation/Deletions, UDWiki:Moderation/Promotions, or any other UDWiki activity that requires voting. Technically, I could have dragged Divs to VB, but I felt it was a too petty matter to do so (MMA is less influential than administrative votes) and left it thus a slap on the wrist.
