WanYao (talk | contribs | logs | block | IP Check | vndl data | discuss)

WanYao has broken the Template:SugVoteRules, Section 1 of "Advice to voters", which reads (my bold) "You are voting on Suggestions, not Users. The text of your vote should not personally attack or denigrate the user who has submitted it... no matter how ridiculous the idea. Flaming and/or Trolling will not be tolerated."

This is his vote. In it, he admits that the suggestion has merit, and that he is only voting in the Spam section for personal reasons, which he outlines by flaming ("massed produced crap") and trolling ("FUCK YOU!") the author.

He has had opportunity to apologise and not done so. The part in the rules that says "flaming and/or Trolling will not be tolerated" should be enforced, as otherwise it is meaningless.

Right, struck. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 19:10, 26 August 2008 (BST)
Thanks. For future reference, if this is the wrong place to bring this, and as only sysops may strike troll-based votes, where would be the correct place to bring any such future complaint or notification? (I ask because, in this case, it required an A/VB report for any sysop to act.) Without information to the contrary, A/VB seems appropriate for breaking the rules of this wiki. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 19:41, 26 August 2008 (BST)
I'd venture a guess at one of their talk pages, that's generally where it's gone in the past.--Karekmaps?! 02:21, 28 August 2008 (BST)
The reason I didn't just pick a sysop is that I'm not sure who would comply, or even if it's fair to ask one sysop to deal with all/any such requests from me. The advantage to A/VB is that all (?) the sysops look at it. Hrmn ... not sure what I'll do in any future case. Thanks for the advice, though. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 04:07, 28 August 2008 (BST)

I haven't apologised because I don't care. Because this wiki is a complete fiasco and my frustration level with it is, obviously, through the roof. For example, A/VB cases or even having votes struck from people who CONSTANTLY troll Suggestions is NOT done with any consistency... It's all about who your friends are, or your enemies who happen to notice and report you -- not about consistency or even-handedness. I'm not pretending that what I did was right... but I am calling you people out on the fact that there isn't any consistent application of rules or guidelines on this wiki. Anyhow, I don't care if you want to "make an example" of me, or what any of you think of me... And I'm no longer going to be participating in any administrative parts of the wiki unless for some reason they directly involve me... So I'm sure my enemies will be very, very pleased. Have a nice day. --WanYao 01:21, 27 August 2008 (BST)

Illusionist (aka: Izumi Orimoto) is a well known and permabanned contributor to this wiki. While she may be behaving herself at the moment, I noted she has started chiming in on this very page. Hence a biblical flood of sock-puppetry cannot be far behind.

I would have been happy to put this on the Vandal Banning Discussion page, but that page is locked and currently uneditable.

Call me petty, drown me in abuse and meaningless bullshit but i shall not end my quest to bring the rule breakers of the UD wiki to justice! This time i have on offer a user showing blatant disregard for the wiki's signature policy in an attempt to spread mayhem and confusing accross this Great Land. No matter how many times i drew the vandalism to the user's attention, she would not stop, assaulting my own talk page with her vandal spree. Sysops of the wiki, i humlby beg thee! Do not write off my plea for help as yet more clique related drama, for other users and fucking cunts have been similarly effected by the rash actions of this pilot of evil.--xoxo 07:13, 25 August 2008 (BST)

Links in question: One, Two. The user has changed their signature to follow the signature policy. If the sysops choose to pursue a case against this renegade ragamuffin or not is their decision alone as i am no longer being grossly misrepresented. Does a criminal ceasing their vandal ways make them never a criminal at all? This is the real social issue being examined behind the facadé of this case.--xoxo 07:25, 25 August 2008 (BST)
I am so confused. I thought your sig was nice so I took the code... I even contacted you about this :( Unfortunately I did forget to take the link from your page and change it to mine. However, I did not make a single edit since I made the signature, even when I was not aware of this. Your link on my signature was only there for a few days and that itself was just a product of my lack of time. I didn't hurt anyone, especially with my non-use of said signature whilst it was incorrectly coded. ELLAtalk <3 07:28, 25 August 2008 (BST)

Not vandalism - Although it would have been vandalism if used, I can find no contributions by E&C that used that signature until after you had contacted her, and that was only on your talk page in reply to your question about it. You then opened this case about 10 minutes later, and the sig was fixed within minutes -- boxy talki 10:13 25 August 2008 (BST)

User:Matthewfarenheit

Matthewfarenheit (talk | contribs | logs | block | IP Check | vndl data | discuss)

I obviously commited vandalism by continually trying to help newbies as we can see on my contributions here, comparable to those of Airborne88. I even created the nefarious Template:Welcomenewbie page and its accessory Template:Welcomenewbie?, in order to emphathize, improve and standarize the repetitive and obviously evil process of showing a suspected new user the ropes, and trying to actively improve the wiki while wading the most ignorant kinds of criticism, mostly coming from Cyberbob240 and Karek, and just these guys probably because Grim s was hiding under a rock somewhere at the time, who knows? Aditionally, and because I want to eliminate any chance that this report may not be taken seriously and not dealt with the correspondant vandal escalation, I welcomed an OBVIOUSLY experienced user (yeah, he obviously knows all what's there to know about the wiki, sure) here. Finally, I may be mocking the page by making this report.

I request all edits made on this fashion by me and the other several welcomers be deleted as per precedent here, as any of these were obviously made with the main objective of raising my own link count and my stance on the Signature Race, even when the aformentioned template predates the project by around 10 months (that's how far ahead I plan my conspirations, mind you), and were meant to raise my edit count to the tens of thousands with crappy contributions that not even have the weight of the oh so many unjustified spam votes on the suggestions pages. Also I request my creations, the Welcomenewbie templates, to be deleted as any vandal created page. I hereby renounce and disown my several attempts to improve a wiki that, by the actions of a reigning minority scaring any friendly and contributive user that came unless they were liked by them, has become a place full of idiots, assholes and generally speaking, people that it's not worth helping anymore.

Dance people dance, finally your assholeness won. Permaban me as I will commit several acts of petty vandalism unless (and until) you permaban this account. Do not panic, tough, as I will cease to create alts accounts when my main account is finally permabanned. Yet another vandal is created, not by his own circunstances, but by the same people that is meant to help the userbase. And please, do waste your fingerprints replying something to me as if the final word had to be yours: I won't bother to read. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 22:47, 24 August 2008 (BST)

Try actually scrolling through those welcomings instead of trolling A/VB and committing vandalism in the process. Cause see, that(what you reported yourself for) wasn't but this report is.--Karekmaps?! 00:55, 25 August 2008 (BST)
P.s. Are you actually trying to make the point that him welcoming users that obviously left years ago even though he's well informed on how to check isn't vandalism?--Karekmaps?! 00:57, 25 August 2008 (BST)Why ask a question if he's not going to address it.
Matt, you clearly didnt read either the case, or his motivation for spamming those pages. It wasnt to welcome users, it was an attempt to win the signature race. And to do so he was spamming pages of users that hadnt posted in years, or even ever posted. A sad, pathetic tantrum on your part. I am sorely tempted to fulfil your request for a permaban under part 6 of A/G's "When a user may be warned or banned". --The Grimch U! E! 04:18, 25 August 2008 (BST)

Not vandalism - but filing this A/VB report against yourself, and this edit are coming damn close to it. If you have a problem with a ruling here, the place to contest it is the talk page, not to file reports for things that you obviously don't believe are vandalism. As to the ruling that you arcing up about, you misunderstand. Placing the {{welcomenewbie}} template on new user's pages is not considered vandalism, however spamming it onto many talk pages of users who are obviously not newbies may well be, especially when the spammer is contacted and the situation is clearly explained to them well before an A/VB case is brought -- boxy talki 10:21 25 August 2008 (BST)

I guess I wasn't obvious enough: I'm ASKING to be PERMABANNED here. May I have my ban as per the guidelines? Or I really have to vandalize the place? I really don't want to, but I will if I must... --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 05:26, 26 August 2008 (BST)

Not vandalism - Fuck thats petty of you J3D. Stop shitting up the admin pages with garbage. This is your final warning. --The Grimch U! E! 07:14, 24 August 2008 (BST)
Oh fuck off. You may disagree with a report but making a report of vandalism (regardless of how petty) is not 'shitting up admin pages'. I happen to feel he got off too lightly from making 500 spam pages and as that only gets him 1 warning i figured i'd pursue this. You might think it's petty (it is) but it is against the rules and thus bringing it here is not shitting this page up.--xoxo 09:55, 24 August 2008 (BST)
Heh, well I would have agreed with you that a soft warning wasn't really necessary, or appropriate in this case, until you told us your motivation for making this report. He got his warning for that last case, let's leave it at that and give him a chance to move on -- boxy talki 11:04 24 August 2008 (BST)
He didnt alter the content of my post, his response to your request for the hand picture makes it patently obvious to anyone with half a brain that he added it himself as the standard decoration that accompanies most warnings (It essentially claims responsibility). What he did was not against the rules, and your making petty baseless cases against an individual because, by your own words, you feel he got off too light on another case, is an abuse of this page. Now shape up or ship out. --The Grimch U! E! 10:48, 24 August 2008 (BST)
The fact that boxy would have agreed with me demonstrates the case had a degree of merit. I'll report all the fucking degree of merit cases i want. And please guys, if you think people report vandalism because it makes them feel all warm and fuzzy inside get your head out of your ass and look one case below. People report vandalism because they don't like the actions of others and want to see them get busted for it, and, if the sysop calling the case agrees they hey, you might just get lucky. Once again, case below. You shape up Grim and start calling things on merit not on who you do and do not like. Third time, case below.--xoxo 12:51, 24 August 2008 (BST)

Nonsense Nubis. Threats of IRL physical harm should not be made here, even in jest. There is a fairly huge gulf here between what was done and the normal background hostility to which you refer. This crosses the line by a huge distance. Vandalism --The Grimch U! E! 03:51, 23 August 2008 (BST)
What is wrong with you people? This isn't even a death threat. If anything it is a warning. Let's look at this carefully.

My friend wants to fight you irl, just a heads up.

Just a heads up sounds like a warning to me. Something you would say to someone to prevent a fight. People yell "Heads up" when they throw balls. If they were trying to hit some one with it they wouldn't yell "Heads up".

Nick said

You should contact him sounds like he is saying why not work out this issue or misunderstanding? You two need to talk. And the "heaps big pecs" I dunno, but I try not to judge the gays.

The first part is Nick saying Sorry to hear about your constipation. He even puts a fucking smiley face! The last part is him explaining where the "heaps big pecs" came from since most people that do time come out in better shape than they went in.

Techercizer said
Or, I could completely ignore his trolling ass and not give a crap about who he is or what he does. As a matter of fact, I'll do just that.

This is Tech acknowledging that this is just a troll and saying that he doesn't care. Not sure where the "fear for his life" is in this post. Not finding the "concern about being threatened" in this post. Actually, this is one of the more intelligent things he's posted.

"Ellaandcharlie" made a completely unjustified and unwelcome edit to a suggestion that is not theirs, here.

Originally, this user made a carbon copy of my suggestion here... only a couple of words were changed. To avoid confusion, I changed the heading adding "spoof version" here and justified it. If the suggestor wished to change this, fine... But I think my justification speaks for itself... However, they had no right whatsoever to make any change whatsoever to my version.

(And, finally... Just a note... Don't give me the "you should do this on this their talk pages" or "you're spamming up the Admin pages with frivolous cases" thing. i.e., Nubis... a) There is no reason I should have to talk to this TROLL. Period. b) It's not frivolous, it's impersonation. c) I'm going to bring these cases here to make you do your jobs, i.e. warn people making non-constructive, spammy, bad faith edits that just harm the wiki and the community that tries to use it. You think that's wrong? Then ban me...) --WanYao 03:47, 22 August 2008 (BST)

I'd just like to add this one quick point... I considered bringing the original edit -- the Ctrl-C-ed version of my suggestion -- here as a vandalism case. However, I did not... I merely made a differentiation between the two versions, typed one response short, neutral reponse into the "Discussion" section... Then ignored the whole thing. All in an attempt to avoid making drama and not to bring up a "frivolous" VB case"... However, since the drama obviously did not end there... Here we are. --WanYao 04:04, 22 August 2008 (BST)

No one should have been warned for this. Perhaps Ellaancharlie could have got one, but it was withdrawn, so... as wan says, yawn. I don't know where Nubis got a warning for Wan out of all this, and nothing for E&C. Basically, E&C created a section that was almost exactly the same suggestion as Wan's below it. The headers were exactly the same, so people who were looking for replies to Wan's on recent changes would be take directly to the spoof version instead. Changing the headers to correct something like that is entirely a good faith edit, unless it is done in an insulting way (as was done in the precedent quoted above). Not Vandalism by Wan, and I vote that the warning be struck -- boxy talki 06:11 24 August 2008 (BST)
Oh, and I just changed your quoting above, Nubis, to make it obvious that things were being quoted. It was very hard to understand who said what in that post -- boxy talki 06:13 24 August 2008 (BST)

Im going to agree with boxy here. Its completely good faith. Also, when two sections have the same title, and you edit the second one, the page will always drop you on the first one whenn it loads. While there are ways to seperate the two in direct linking, the wiki software doesnt do it post edit. Adding something to make it distinctive is a good way around this. Also, while the rule generally means "Dont do it", it is still allowed to do trivvial edits such as the above to clarify the situation. Coincidentally this happens to be such a case. Not vandalism on Wan's part. Nubis's ruling is hereby overruled 2-1 and the warning struck. --The Grimch U! E! 07:06, 24 August 2008 (BST)

Oh, my mistake. I forgot Wan is a golden child on here. Why was I thinking that the rules were the same for everyone? --– Nubis NWO 13:24, 24 August 2008 (BST)

If you actually gave a shit, Nubis, about "consistency", justice, and the rules applying to everyone -- as you so self-righteously proclaim -- then you'd have, at the VERY least, slapped a vandalism warning on both myself AND Ellaandcharlie. However, your actions demonstrate very clearly that your motive was to squelch criticism of your pro-troll ethos and to take a personal potshot at someone with whom you do not agree -- by "making an example of them". No, your vandal warning was nothing but bullying... serving your own, clearly biased and self-serving interests. And you fucking know it. But, I've said elsewhere, "The lack of any ethical or professional compass here is pretty clear to me... if not to others..." --WanYao 22:23, 24 August 2008 (BST)

Permbanned users don't need recording on A/VD, it is only there to keep track of vandal escalations. You can't escalate past a permban, so recording them achieves nothing but to fill the page up more than it is already -- boxy talki 02:17 19 August 2008 (BST)

Go look at his user contributions.--Kristi of the Dead 23:56, 18 August 2008 (BST)

While annoying if we declare this is vandalism then we will have to do the same for the Great Suburb Massacre since they are both leaving lots of messages on talk pages. If the groups want them removed they can, but it seems to be a legit event that has a place on those pages. (also sign your posts)--– Nubis NWO 23:53, 18 August 2008 (BST)
I was gonna sign my post but someone was editing what I posted as I did so. Sorry. Tell me again what you did about the 5th of november spammings? Cause those were about a legit event as well? I seem to remember them being removed or something. Also the Great suburb massacre isn't an event in game it's about cleaning up the wiki and isn't relevant.--Kristi of the Dead 23:54, 18 August 2008 (BST)
I don't remember the 5th of November incident so hopefully some other sysop will chime in on that. I don't know how an event can get any attention any other way outside of posting on talk pages, so I am not sure how else they can do this. It's annoying, but what are their options? (I understand why you missed signing your post - editing all those links is a pain)--– Nubis NWO 00:03, 19 August 2008 (BST)
The 5th of november guys did the exact same thing. Only difference was that theirs was pro survivor. It got them in trouble as I remember. But as for what they should do. They should make a wiki page for the event like everyone else does. You didn't see the Big Bash wiki spamming their event all over the place. You didn't see the Mall tour spamming all over the place. That's what the precident was (in my mind at least)--Kristi of the Dead 00:07, 19 August 2008 (BST)

The Great Suburb Massacre is a wiki maintenance thing. This is just spam. Burn the witch!!! --WanYao 00:45, 19 August 2008 (BST)
A way back in the day I went a little overboard with "advertising" for a group, and IIRC it was removed. TGSGM is wiki maintenance, like those "Welcome to the Wiki!" messages.--Labine50 MEMS | MHG 01:02, 19 August 2008 (BST)
This has been ruled vandalism in the past, as should this case. The Suburb Massacre template is a wiki maintenance thing, and a courtesy to the groups, letting them know that something that they have contributed to the wiki, and may want to save, is about to be changed, and is no more spam than placing warning templates on multiple vandal's pages. This sort of "cold calling" where you post on dozens of group/user talk pages with a cut'n'paste ad in the hope of getting a few takers to publicise an in game event is, however -- boxy talki 02:31 19 August 2008 (BST)

Blatant trolling is allowed here though, you can't delete something just because it's offensive. It's unfortunate, but it's true. Techercizer (Food) (TSoE) 01:21, 12 August 2008 (BST)
Sure you can if it's against this rules. This is somebody who didn't sign their edits, as I've been told is vandalism, and trolling probably isn't allowed on admin pages. No - The more information comes to light the more this looks like a shady escalation of harassment of an unliked player. If he deserves it he'll get it on his own, however I, at this point, can not accept that these alts are, without a doubt, him. I also insist you keep in mind what his escalation was for, a humorous suggestion. That's hardly hard core vandalism or the type of thing that a user should be permabanned for. He's not exactly going around maliciously blanking pages.--Karekmaps?! 02:08, 12 August 2008 (BST)
Oh, he made this one, there is no doubt there, it was too quick, too relevant, and it is writtenlike every contact we have had from him. The rest are almost certainly impersonation alts, and once we can tie them to someone i wholeheartedly support insta permaing them. A perma comes based on their entire history, not based on what the most recent occurance of vandalism was. If a person has shown that they cannot stick within the rules of the wiki consistently and instead consistently troll, as Ioncannon has, then they really have no place here. --The Grimch U! E! 03:13, 13 August 2008 (BST)
My comment probably wasn't clear, but my vote is because of his entire history - not just this.
If a person has shown that they cannot stick within the rules of the wiki consistently and instead consistently troll ...(snip)... then they really have no place here. I firmly believe this.
He has been on the wiki since January and has had an A/VB case against him almost every month. He if he truly wanted to be a contributing member he would have straightened up. Just scrolling through the vandal data shows most users straighten up after a ban. This clearly isn't the case. While I see your point about how unfortunate it is that the latest escalation is because of a humorous suggestion that doesn't change the fact that he is a persistent vandal.--– Nubis NWO 03:37, 13 August 2008 (BST)
Looking through I'd say that there are only two escalations that aren't in a similar vein to the last one. If this weren't his first 1 month ban maybe I'd agree with you but I don't think this is at the point where a permaban is needed yet.--Karekmaps?! 05:52, 13 August 2008 (BST)
Fair enough. Tell you what. Let's make a bet. If he doesn't get this permaban and has a legit A/VB case against him before January 09 you have to change your user page to say in huge glittery letters: NUBIS WAS RIGHT. And if he comes back after a month off and keeps his nose clean I will change my page to say whatever you want. I'm serious here. You in? --– Nubis NWO 14:57, 13 August 2008 (BST)

Yes, it's obvious he copied the above vote, but like I said, I have a vague memory of even newbies getting warned (as in official warning) for impersonation, which would make me posting on his talkpage pretty much pointless because a sysop would do it anyway. And what do you mean with "Is what you did the proper way to strike an unsigned or improper vote?" It wasn't unsigned and it wasn't an improper vote. It was impersonation. Removing it completely is certainly better than leaving it there. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 14:38, 7 August 2008 (BST)
If you think that an edit like this is an honest mistake, it's much better to discuss it with the person first, on their talk page. There is no requirement for you to report it here... even if it's some form of marginal vandalism, sometimes a quite word works better, and a report can always be made later if the poster doesn't change their ways. Also, Detective Ice seems to be his other account. He can certainly edit his own comments. You didn't remove the Det. Ice comment. So either he has permission to edit the page as Detective Ice (and therefore edit those comments as Airhead if he isn't smart enough to realize he is logged into the wrong account) or he doesn't have permission to edit it at all. Which is it? --– Nubis NWO 13:18, 7 August 2008 (BST)
I'm guessing that ioncannon doesn't want to remove anyone's comments from anywhere, given that he's the subject of a "witch hunt" at the moment, and doesn't want to risk getting a warning/ban himself. It's reasonable to make otherwise uninvolved parties contact others before reporting them for minor vandalism, but not really the best idea when the parties are obviously already involved in a conflict. I'd classify this as vandalism, editing another (enemy) groups page instead of using the talk page to contact them (and not a newbie mistake given the long history of contributions) -- boxy talki 15:17 7 August 2008 (BST)

Groups have greater ownership rights to their own pages, and are given quite a bit of latitude in the "truth" that they may portray there. It would be anarchy if we allowed enemies to have free reign to edit rival group pages because they disagreed with the truth of claims made there. If you want to have something changed on someone else's group page, discuss it with them on the talk page first. If they don't agree to change it, just ignoring it is probably the best option. If you are still intent on having something changed because of inaccuracy, then arbitration is the best place to do it (bring evidence please). Editing the main page, or sub page, of a another group is not allowed unless you are helping to make it the way that they want it, and changing someone's signed comments is vandalism almost anywhere -- boxy talki 06:05 9 August 2008 (BST)

Well, he didn't edit it himself and I don't see what the big deal is; it's not vandalism. It's nothing serious, in any case, and I was just having a little fun. Is that so bad? I didn't impersonate anyone, blank anything, etc, etc, it was just a little laugh I suppose. Slap on the cuffs and take me away. :( Ioncannon11 21:38, 6 August 2008 (BST)
From the Policy: Vandalism page:
On this wiki, we define Vandalism as "an edit not made in a good-faith attempt to improve this wiki".
Impersonating another user. It is possible to make a comment on the wiki that does not look like it is from yourself, but instead is from another user. Of course, the fact that you edited the page will always exist, so such acts rarely go unnoticed. We expect that, if you're commenting, you're commenting as yourself.
in any case, and I was just having a little fun. Is that so bad? I didn't impersonate anyone
You did impersonate someone; me, and if you find vandalism funny that's really not my issue, nor should it be. Techercizer (Food) (TSoE) 22:21, 6 August 2008 (BST)
I didn't impersonate you noob. You refused to change the header yourself, and seeing as how that makes you a noob in my eyes, I made a slight, but true, joke and showed you that the header needed to be changed. Ioncannon11 03:07, 7 August 2008 (BST)

The other "Discussion" moved to talk page. --– Nubis NWO 03:29, 7 August 2008 (BST)

Vandalism - Someone else created the suggestion there, someone else created the headers. The headers are very strongly implied to be the work of the author of the suggestion. Leaving them in the generic default doesnt give other people the right to change them to insult the poster of the suggestion, correcting them to match the suggestion is fine when left in th default (Much the same as a typo correction), but that did not happen here. Feel free to be insulting in your own posts, but do not resort to impersonation to do so. Also, the edit was entirely made in bad faith, and asking only really applies when there is some doubt over the intent of teh edit. No matter how hard i try i cannnot see how this was made in any small part in good faith. --The Grimch U! E! 04:08, 7 August 2008 (BST)

FYI: Im holding off on processing this due to Nubis's stance here. --The Grimch U! E! 04:10, 7 August 2008 (BST)
If this is vandalism then your creating an insulting headline for J3D is also since the end result is good or bad faith. If this is vandalism then your creating an insulting headline for J3D is actually more vandalism since you posted it over his comments. Are you sure you still want to consider this vandalism? Either Ioncannon can make a funny insulting headline over his post in an area that other people will post under (like you did) or he can't. But we are not going to say that a sysop can but a user can't.--– Nubis NWO 13:31, 7 August 2008 (BST)
The parallels between this case and what Grim did is astounding. While Ion replaced an existing heading, it is a default heading and by the nature of the new heading it was apparent that Tech hadn't written it. Also at least the first comment under the new heading was Ion's unlike Grim's which until the explanation text was placed appeared as if i had written it. It seems to me the real difference here is that one was created by the 2nd most powerful and one of the most respected users on the wiki and the other was created by a largely disliked vandal prone user. Double standard anyone? And yes Grim, i am directly involved considering there is very recent precedent about this and my name was brought up in both cases, the first case in fact centred around a post i made and where it was located.--xoxo 14:00, 7 August 2008 (BST)

Vandalism - There's a difference between being uncivil and what was done here. Editing headers to be insults, on community pages, is most certainly not a civility issue.--Karekmaps?! 05:27, 7 August 2008 (BST)

So why didn't you vote vandalism on the case against Grim for editing a headline? I can see why it isn't Misconduct, but why the hell didn't you say it was vandalism?--– Nubis NWO 13:31, 7 August 2008 (BST)
I prefer to stay away from A/VB when possible, something about an agreement I made with the community when I was up for promotion. I don't know specifically which case you are talking about off hand unless it is the one that led to the misconduct case. If that is the case, the biggest difference is that there was already an existing header and header naming convention that is obvious on the page. To me it's not about impersonation, it's about him defacing Talk:Suggestions in an attempt to attack another user. --Karekmaps?! 13:46, 7 August 2008 (BST)

Sure it is! He didn't edit and I felt I could use that header separately for my comment. Is that not allowed? I can't have a separate header for my comment? Everyone can have their own sub comment. I was just trying to draw attention to the fact that he is a noob. The rest of the post was 100% in good faith; I was contributing my 2 cents. Impersonating is changing people's posts. He left that part of the template blank, so I used it for my own comment! Not impersonation!!!! Or, at least, definitely not worth a week's ban... Ioncannon11 06:05, 7 August 2008 (BST)

Vandalism - Changing someone else's header is a nono. You know that. -- Cheese 15:23, 7 August 2008 (BST)

FOR THE LAST FUCKING TIME, IT WAS NOT HIS HEADER!!! HE MADE A CONSCIOUS DECISION NOT TO EDIT IT AND NOT MAKE IT INTO ANYTHING EXCEPT PART OF THE TEMPLATE!!! I TOOK THE HEADER, MADE IT MY OWN AS A SUBSECTION OF THE DISCUSSION. Oops, capslock :D. Is this really worth a month ban? Hell, look at all the contribs I have from my last ban! I think everyone knows my megalomania has subsided, and if blanking 1000 pages gave me a week ban, adopting a header should not give me a month...As J3D was quick to point out, Grim did something very similar and nothing happened to him. I will pull up that precedent and show it. Then if I was to be banned it would be complete and utter disrespect to the wiki's rules, not because you banned me, but because you banned someone for doing something exactly like, hell much better (I had a normal comment goin on) than what a sysop did, the latter being let off on all allegations. Ioncannon11 15:49, 7 August 2008 (BST)

You have just had a warning struck, so you arn't getting banned for this. It will be another warning. This is a simple case, Ion, you changed a template heading to be insulting to the author of the suggestion. You can edit that header to be descriptive (if the author forgets), but it has to be in clear good faith. It obviously should be in the form of "Discussion (suggestion name)". Then, Zombie Lord unjustifiably moved my author re: to the Talk page (both edits show in the link provived).

Also, a perusal of the user's recent history in the Suggestions area will show that one of his overarching ambitions seems to be trolling... Altering another user's posts in clear violation of all policies and conventions/practices, Gnome. Isn't that vandalism? Certain people are twisting the letter of the rules, just barely falling outside the letter of the policies, in order to get off the hook for serial trolling. And it's effectively being condoned. Now, if you look at the sysop guidelines, it pretty clesrly states that a sysop can (and is sort of expected to) follow the spirit of policies even if this violates the "letter" of said policies. It's time to start following the spirit of the policies and making appropriate decisions in regards to what are clearly bad faith edits... see also ioncannon above for another very relevant example. --WanYao 01:24, 7 August 2008 (BST)
Furthermore, let's look at my re: in the context of it being a lame, long-winded, trollish rant itself. Ok... I can accept that... I kind of feel that way, now, myself. However, there's a bigger contect -- what the fuck??? in regards to Zombie Lord being able to troll me in a blatantly inflammatory manner in his vote... but I have to go through shit in order to defend myself against his trolling? Whether I myself acted with the greatest level of dignity or appropriateness -- or not -- is kind of moot in the context of the fact that people are permitted to twist the rules and get away with trolling. Why is this permitted? As I've said, the spirit of the definition of bad faith can -- and should -- include blatant serial trolling. I think it's time you's started looking at it in this light, and acting accordingly. --WanYao 01:33, 7 August 2008 (BST)

Vandalism. Violation of arbitration ruling=ban. Anyone disagree?--The General T Sys U! P! F! 10:35, 5 August 2008 (BST)
Not Vandalism, for numerous reasons, chief among them that he was baited into editing, that there is no bad faith, that arbitrators do not have the power to put a limitless and absolute ban on user contributions to a page, and that violation of an arbitration ruling is not vandalism, nor is it the arbitrator's place to decide which violations, much less all, are vandalism. Akule ruled out of his ability and unless you can show intent to vandalize you can't call this vandalism, especially when the edits are targeted to illicit a response knowing the "limits" the ruling place on Ioncannon.--Karekmaps?! 11:30, 5 August 2008 (BST)
A minor correction: Violation of arbitration rulings results in a ban. So, yes, such edits are, in practice, vandalism.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 12:04, 5 August 2008 (BST)
No, violation of an arbitration ruling when it violates the rulings purpose is vandalism. Arbitrators rulings are limited to the reason the case was brought up, they are not encompassing of everyone or page involved in the case only the edit/s being disputed. All ruling violations are not vandalism, part of our job is to limit the arbitrator's power by determining which ones are, even if it's been neglected in the past.--Karekmaps?! 12:42, 5 August 2008 (BST)
Short Version; The case didn't address that groups presence, nor was it asked to. If the case isn't relevant to the edit it holds no bearing here, we shouldn't re-enforce abuse.--Karekmaps?! 11:33, 5 August 2008 (BST)
Usually, I would rule vandalism here, but due to the nature of the edit in question I'm going to say that on this occasion it is Not Vandalism. -- Cheese 11:38, 5 August 2008 (BST)
Well then, I change my ruling. Consensus is Not Vandalism.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 12:04, 5 August 2008 (BST)

Oh, please, this is not vandalism. My group was there; I respected the decision regarding the outcome of the whole thing, but they vandalized it and took out my group's name from the participant label. How much more vandalism can you get? Thank you, karek. Ioncannon11 11:33, 5 August 2008 (BST)

No matter how much of an asshat ioncannon is ... Yeah ... He was legitimately "defending" himself. Now, whoever tried to take his group off? Why haven't THEY been brought here, or at least been given a little note on their talk page? Eh??? --WanYao 12:18, 5 August 2008 (BST)
Well, yao, maybe I like you a little more now :). It was The Surgeon General; I didn't do anything because I wanted to edit it myself at first, but I suppose they deserve to be here. Ioncannon11 12:43, 5 August 2008 (BST)

http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php?title=Talk:Suggestions&curid=1414&diff=1235171&oldid=1235170, Impersonation. This is his third A/VB today. I'll let the author of said comment say anything else that needs be said. Techercizer (Food) (TSoE) 00:01, 1 August 2008 (BST)

I was just about to report this. It's not technically impersonation, I'd push for a warning (based on precedent below) for striking another user's comments without good reason on a community page. I'd suggest premeditation as his edit before this was the one that broke my post into two sections. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 00:04, 1 August 2008 (BST)
New development:http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php?title=Talk%3ASuggestions&diff=1235177&oldid=1235175 , He's gone large scale. depending on whether this counts as a new A/VB, this could be his fourth today, If that's not unprecedented, it at least deserves some sort of firm response. Techercizer (Food) (TSoE) 00:08, 1 August 2008 (BST)

Persistent vandalism of the suggestions discussion page, request block under active vandal criteria. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 00:08, 1 August 2008 (BST)

I agree, 4 A/VB cases in one day about the same section Definitely suggests something amiss. In my opinion, serious action should be taken to show him that this is not a joke. Techercizer (Food) (TSoE) 00:33, 1 August 2008 (BST)

Have you tried talking to him? I personally think it's more the fact that he's a complete and utter noob and doesn't get the wiki. In the first one, he's striking an unsigned comment, which is allowed. And the other two are him attempting to remove the suggestions from discussion, I think. :/ In any case, it doesn't look as though there is any malicious intent. Just being one of those annoying noobs who seem to have a completely epic first day which sees them in VB more times than most users in their entire wiki career. I will have a word with him, however, and let him know that he is bordering on getting the book thrown at him. -- Cheese 00:42, 1 August 2008 (BST)

Cmon' cheese, 4 A/VB cases? really? This guy is actively laughing at his own vandalism as he posts it, and showing it online with little "XD" faces every time he breaks the rules by wiping suggestions or removing others' content. He's like a little kid running around kicking everyone in the building; someone needs to tell him he can't do this kind of crap and get away with it before it goes farther into his head. Techercizer (Food) (TSoE) 01:02, 1 August 2008 (BST)

The first one wasn't an unsigned comment, it was a response of mine that was properly paragraphed. It became orphaned from my signature when Shooty08 broke up my comment by posting within it, his next edit was to strike it. You'll notice I mention this premeditation above. You ask for the evidence, I bring it, and still nothing. Ignorance does not change the fact he breached established vandalism precedent. There's a reason the first offence doesn't carry a perma.... -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 00:58, 1 August 2008 (BST)

You'll also notice that because he moved his strikeouts around, my comment now appears to have been signed by him. This is now a case of impersonation that I'd like ruling on. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 01:03, 1 August 2008 (BST)
Ok. Give me an exact diff link showing that and I will rule on it. -- Cheese 01:05, 1 August 2008 (BST)
No exact link as it was the result of conflicting edits, however here is where he strike my comment, having previous posted inside it, and here is where he removes those strikeouts (so that his vandalism to the entire suggestion will work), but he leaves his signature. While I can remove the strikeouts and move his comments as it's vandalism to a community page and a comment in an incorrect place according to the page guidelines, I am unable to move that comment or delete the signature now acting as the impersonation due to previous precedent. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 01:11, 1 August 2008 (BST)
Ok. Number two is the one I'm after. It may not be intentional, but it is impersonation. Therefore, vandalism. You can quite happily delete the signature by the way. You aren't handless. It's your comment anyway. -- Cheese 01:16, 1 August 2008 (BST)
ohohoho, don't tell me that permanent impersonation counts as a seperate VB, cuz if this guy is subject to 5 A/VB cases in two and a half hours I will freaking wet myself from laughter. Techercizer (Food) (TSoE) 01:17, 1 August 2008 (BST) (DAMN EDIT CONFLICTS MONKEY!!!!!! =P jkng)
And if the "noob errors" continue... will you slap a ban? That's the question... --WanYao 11:49, 1 August 2008 (BST)

In the future please include all relevant diffs, in this case this one was missing. That being said, I am going to step in and say it's Not Vandalism and you're all reading way too much into what is easier explained as uninformed mistakes, for one(again highly relevant, again not included), he is allowed to remove his own suggestions whenever he feels like it. Frankly, I'm dumbfounded that Cheeseman missed this.--Karekmaps?! 02:12, 1 August 2008 (BST)

I'm pretty sure that while he can remove his own suggestions, he can't remove other users comments, which he did. Techercizer (Food) (TSoE) 02:21, 1 August 2008 (BST)
There was an obvious gap between the two, better people have been tricked by less, the same thing even, we've never ruled it vandalism and attempting to remove unsigned comments is hardly such without bad faith, it's something that is done in most voting sections of the wiki, Suggestions included, that he didn't know it's not done on Talk:Suggestions is the reasonable conclusion.--Karekmaps?! 02:41, 1 August 2008 (BST)

Im inclined to agree with karek here. Nothing here appears malicious. Just a series of errors that could have easily stopped if you had tried to explain to him how to use the tags and the rules of the page. I see nothing that indicates you have even attempted to do so. No. Id actually contend that you made this case in bad faith to persecute a person you consider an idiot without trying to help him out first. Not Vandalism, just a newbie mistake. Warning is hereby overruled (2-1) and purged from his record. --The Grimch U! E! 04:01, 1 August 2008 (BST)
