Impersonation... I think, didn't precedent state a while back that you couldn't change a heading (even on your own talk page) that another user has posted? A goolina case I believe. For reference it looks like these two have been at it a while, a few edits later and Blackboard (OP of the heading) edits this heading to something else, but a not a reversion to the original text. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 23:39, 31 July 2008 (BST)
- Precedent does indeed show that. Therefore this is vandalism. Have a pleasant evening. -- Cheese 00:57, 1 August 2008 (BST)
- We think precendence should be taken in context, and we doubt it's the same here. We've already put a plea on Krazy Monkeys page, and if this carries on, we'll take it to arbitration, or possibly misconduct--Crabappleslegalteam 01:36, 1 August 2008 (BST)
- This is indeed Vandalism. You changed the title, which is part of his post, to something completely defamatory, and left it so that it looked likem it was his work. A title is part of a persons post. You are not allowed to change it significantly. Cease your whining and take it like a man. --The Grimch U! E! 03:46, 1 August 2008 (BST)

I'm gonna do something here that might cause an argument but, as both users involved in this case have explicitly stated that they don't want the other user punished and don't mind the edit I believe it would be incorrect to rule this as vandalism or impersonation. Not Vandalism, they don't mind it we shouldn't either.--Karekmaps?! 03:19, 3 August 2008 (BST)
- Thanks Karek! Grimch, we hope you're not pushing this out of personal animosity over our arguments with you over Saromu's abuse of group listings half a year ago....--Crabappleslegalteam 00:08, 4 August 2008 (BST)
Damn edit conflicts!
- Here's the problem. What they did was clearly vandalism. You don't edit someone else's post (including the headline).
- However, I do see where you are coming from. But what we really have here is a group talk page, a vandal report filed by someone that as far as I can tell isn't in the group, and a representative of the group and the vandal himself coming to an agreement.
- If we let a member of a group say it isn't vandalism and we reverse our decision then why even have sysops? That would be letting the groups patrol their own pages and decide which rules to follow and enforce. If we say that since the reportee isn't a member of the group and the group worked it out with the vandal it isn't vandalism we are telling people that it is a waste of time to report vandalism that doesn't directly affect them.
- The problem is we need to enforce the guideline that says "Try to work this out before reporting it". We need A/VB reports to have a link to the act and a link to the vandal's talk page where the reportee tried to work it out. This extra step will (hopefully) result in less petty reports.--– Nubis NWO 00:29, 4 August 2008 (BST)
- Yeah, except the two users did work it out without involving A/VB, we shouldn't punish them for that.--Karekmaps?! 02:50, 4 August 2008 (BST)
- So you want to reverse the decision because the reportee didn't follow the guidelines of the page when making the report and the conflict was resolved on its' own? I would support that reason for a reversal.
- I really think we need to start enforcing the guidelines. Stop making rulings on petty cases that don't show an effort to be resolved on their own. --– Nubis NWO 03:27, 4 August 2008 (BST)
- Yeah, except the two users did work it out without involving A/VB, we shouldn't punish them for that.--Karekmaps?! 02:50, 4 August 2008 (BST)

- Heh, if you were here long enough, namely not in hiatus, you would know that the "multiple suggestions a day not allowed" rule was made in response of MrAushvitz multiple suggestion and as a way to make his actions vandalism. The Sysops then even checked the hour and made reports accordingly if 24 hs exactly havent passed since his last suggestion: that kind of pettyness was commonplace amongst you. And still is... --Starplatinum 07:54, 1 August 2008 (BST)
- I looked up the case in the history. Xoid, Gage and his ilk were a fucked up bunch of idiots who abused their positions in the extreme, and are responsible for much of the remaining sysop hate thats been hanging around the wiki ever since. Before they got theior hands on the reigns sysops were actually respected. I will not treat their petty victimisation of a user as precident, even given the fact that i despise the user they leveled it against. Suggestions guidelines dont explicitely state its vandalism, so its not vandalism. Its just removed with the multi template. --The Grimch U! E! 11:38, 1 August 2008 (BST)

Soft warned for spamming up this page with unhelpful postings. --The Grimch U! E! 15:48, 31 July 2008 (BST)
- Can I just ask, where do we have this whole "soft warning" thing in writing? What constitutes a soft warning? How many soft warnings does it take for one to get onto the Vandal Escalation scale? You're the only person I've seen using soft warnings so I thought you'd be the best one to answer that. -- Cheese 16:17, 31 July 2008 (BST)
- Last i checked, two. That was how it was done to Nalikill, and i am nnothing if not consistent. As for where its in writing, we are NOT starting this shit up again. --The Grimch U! E! 16:35, 31 July 2008 (BST)
- You have to have some sort of "soft warning " system in place otherwise you are either posting as John Q User that no one gives a fuck about or you are bringing the wrath of the Sysop staff upon the user. A soft warning is like using the "parent voice" that says "I brought you into this world do you want to see if I can take you out, too?" It's that little bit of authority that is needed to show you are serious about the issue, but still believe in the good faith of the user. Hag also used soft warnings (as recently as June) so maybe you just didn't notice. The problem is that soft warnings aren't used on the right people. Persistent vandals need "time outs" rather than stop it notes, but the system isn't set up for that. Newbies need soft warnings rather than black marks on their records for screwing up. It's a good system, it just needs tweaking.--– Nubis NWO 13:38, 2 August 2008 (BST)

Is clearly a proxy ID for a communist group member, and keeps putting The Crabapple Estate in the "hostile" section on the West Boundwood page. We told him/her/it on his talk page we'd report him/her/it if he/her/it did it again - he/she/it's put some explanation on our talk page which is some poorly disguised version of the same old "no private roperty" argument of the MAF, and we're sorry, it just doesn't wash. It didn't then, and it doesn't now, especially not with such a weak defense!--Crabappleslegalteam 01:07, 31 July 2008 (BST)
- West Boundwood is a suburb page, right? This sounds more like Arbitration than A/VB to me, but I'm not 100% sure about that.-- Techercizer (Food) (TSoE) 03:10, 31 July 2008 (BST)
Unless there is an active edit war going on with the suburb page I don't think we have a real policy on whether or not that would be vandalism. We seem to have that issue with another suburb. So, I don't think any sysop is going to jump in here and "rule" on this. I just didn't want you to think we were ignoring this issue.
I don't think it would be a good Arbitration case either due to the fact that it would be one person deciding a policy for a suburb page. We need a clear policy on that, but I don't see it happening anytime soon in a way that pleases the whole community. So, if it does become an active edit war it will be locked and we will go from there. --– Nubis NWO 14:12, 31 July 2008 (BST)

For creating an inflammatory subject header with this edit in regards to J3D's comments in regards to his failed sysop promotion bid. If I am correct, doing this kind of thing is considered Vandalism on any page, and I think it's even more blatant on a high profile page like a Sysop promotion bid. Also, please note that Grim admits that creating this subject heading was wrong on J3D's Talk page, here.
If Grim had simply changed/reverted the offensive subject header, thus admitting he made a mistake and just letting it pass -- I wouldn't feel compelled to bring this here. However, his "apologies" and alleged "owning up to" the edit IMO actually amount to a duplicitous, backhanded kind of escalation up the bad faith.
And, I'm sorry... I realise this is going to cause a lot of drama... And the last thing I want is to inflame the dramafest already surrounding this promotion bid. Sincerely. Whether you believe me or not, I really am not happy bringing this case to VB... But I honestly don't think it should just be let go... Thanks. --WanYao 14:23, 28 July 2008 (BST)
- I labelled it as mine, So theres no impersonation. I told him on his talk he could change it. There is no civility policy on this wiki. There is no "be nice to each other" policy on this wiki. Far worse things have happened and gone on on this wiki, so this is really just pathetic. Being petty, as they say. "J3D's moaning" is pretty much an accurate description given the content of his post, which is full of misunderstandings and stillborn attempted flames based on those. --The Grimch U! E! 14:27, 28 July 2008 (BST)
Wan, this is the pettiest complaint I have seen lodged on this page. You are just trying to stir up drama. If you seriously thought this was something you needed to have brought to justice you would have taken it to Misconduct instead. But you can barely spin this into a pathetic attempt at a vandalism case, much less misconduct.
Talk:Suggestions page has had worse headlines to break up the WALL OF TEXT "discussions" and I don't see you whining about that. As a matter of fact, many of the replies you have had lately on the Talk:Suggestions pages have been worse than what Grim said. Should we start launching VB cases on every little hurt feeling and insult?
I'm not acknowledging this as a legitimate complaint. Don't feed the trolls and maybe they will piss off.--– Nubis NWO 14:47, 28 July 2008 (BST)
Let me make a few things clear here.
- This is not a misconduct case because it involves no use or abuse of sysop powers. The guildelines for Misconduct are VERY clear here, and I followed them to the letter and in the spirit.
- I brought this case here under the impression that to change a header on a Talk page, particularly to something offensive, was vandalism. If I was correct, then this is a legitimate case, because the creation of such a header is a variant of the aforementioned. If I am wrong, however, then I am fucking idiot and deserve whatever scorn I get... bring it on.
- This is not a personal vendetta on ANY level. It is a purely procedural case, that just happens to be against a high profile user. If that's "petty"... Well... fine... Call me whatever adjectives you please. And... furthermore, I don't give a flying fuck about the drama that backgrounds this case... and any attempt by other parties to bring it in here and create a flame-war is, well, lame. That applies to EVERYONE... Even if I can't stop people... This about the header, pure and simple.
That's all. --WanYao 15:00, 28 July 2008 (BST)
Please point me to where we have a civility policy, because I swear it was rejected. It should be obvious to everyone that Grim created the header so no impersonation took place here, being offensive is not vandalism. Is it offensive? To some people. Is it bad form? Possible. Is it vandalism? No.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 15:07, 28 July 2008 (BST)
Why not follow the guidelines of A/VB to the letter and spirit, too?
- As much as is practical, assume good faith and try to iron out problems with other users one to one, only using this page as a last resort.
What other actions did you take to iron this out before you completed your civic duty and brought it here? I don't see you posting about it under your header on Grim's talk page. I didn't even see a reply on J3D's page that you link above. And Grim saying "I could have handled that better" is a far cry from saying he was "wrong" as you try to spin. Give the "this is procedural" bit a rest until you actually do follow procedure. --– Nubis NWO 15:23, 28 July 2008 (BST)

(at least not how I read it - the guideline and his comment) He can't even tell the difference between a group page and a talk page, UD the game and the UD wiki. I'm going to believe that that it is his last comment and not ban the account. Besides, maybe he can be redeemed and see that cheating isn't the way to make UD fun. --– Nubis NWO 05:07, 19 July 2008 (BST)

The discussion section of this page is getting flamed by one of your sysops. I have asked The Grimch to stop cursing and making a mockery of the page but he persists. He also will not stop reverting the edits I make to his langauge (I bleep it out with *'s) and has threatened that he will supposedly report me for vandalism. His actions are not very admin-like and I find his behaviour repulsive. The page is recieving an incredible number of hits (before it was moved it was at 1030, then in it's new location it is up to 300+) and that was in only 5 days of being active. I will be leaving the wiki soon as well as this game because the Survivors of Newtown were my one last attempt at making this game fun. We had a large group of players supporting us and it was turning out to be a cool survival group. Mr. Grimch thinks he can bully others around because of his status on this wiki, which is not something to be proud of. He is under the misguided impression that we are cheating (I disagreed but stated that the group would stop such actions), and so he has gone on a crusade to destroy our discussion page with slander. I hope that he receives some kind of repremand, though I won't really be present to see what happens anyway. Thank you, for some of your admins are respectable and fair in dealing with people new to the site. --Lostcauseman 20:14, 18 July 2008 (BST)
- You cheated, i called you on it and asked you to cease and desist. You didnt like my language, but im allowed to express myself however the hell i like and you cant stop me. You can delete my posts off the page if you like but thats about it. You used that discretionary ability once and i didnt cause a stir about it. Yes i was being confrontational, yes i was being shocking, because to be blunt you are a zerger and i called you out on it in that manner in the hopes of shocking you out of it, because honey nets so very, very few ants in this community. You abused alt information. You used alts to sheild your group during a move. You are a Zerger. You could have changed that but instead you tried to rationalise that what you were doing was OK. Even now you are still doing it. Yes i was mean. Yes, i was abrasive, but that doesnt make what i was doing bad faith. I directly informed you when you were crossing lines and had the decency not to report you for it on either occasion when you crossed it. If i was out to get you, doing all this in bad faith, i would not have given a second thought to doing so, getting you crucified for it. You have a lovely evening, and go have your little sook elsewhere. --The Grimch U! E! 20:49, 18 July 2008 (BST)
- Not Vandalism - Grim can be as sweary as he wants. We have no civility policy so it's not against the rules to be rude or swear a blue streak. You may not like the language he uses but it's best just to ignore it. Don't edit his posts either. That is a no-no. This is more of a case for Arbies than VB and Misconduct. -- Cheese 22:07, 18 July 2008 (BST)
EXCEPT that the posts I edited were on my GROUP page. Also, I've been deleting posts on there every few days because zombies were getting a lot of information from them. SORRY guess this wiki isn't for me. I'm kind of confused as to why you can't delete posts on your group page, as anyone could mess up anyone's page then. To be honest though, if I asked any other admin to stop cursing on my page they would, but not Grim, he's special or something. Doesn't matter anyway, Grmi is an asshat and always will be. Would you like fries with that? Oh wait, sorry, that's your line. Or are you up to washing lettuce these days? --Lostcauseman 23:58, 18 July 2008 (BST)

For this edit -- spamming up an admin page, i.e. J3D's nomination. This is clearly trolling and in obvious bad faith. It's well past time to clamp down on this kind of bullshit trolling. But do you have the fucking guts?? I wonder... The excuse that being a jerk =/= vandalism has to go and is just that: an excuse. And a pathetic and cowardly one at that. Permitting this kind of stuff is EXACTLY why wiki community has so little faith in the admin team and generally thinks of the wiki as a complete joke. Take a stand. For fuck sake. --WanYao 22:22, 14 July 2008 (BST)
- As one of the more vocal detractors of faith in the admin team, I feel I am an involved party here. For the admin team to make a stand as Wan Yao puts it, would not be a constructive way to go. The community would feel that the admin team would be bypassing the procedures put in place for their own convenience and self aggrandisement, and we had enough of that with Hagnat in power. The correct path from here is not A/VB, but to propose a more accurate vandalism policy. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 22:50, 14 July 2008 (BST)

- Thank you, Cheese. See, that was my point. His edit was vandalism, according to established procedure. But I have seen many similar edits be allowed to go by the wayside... For spaming up Arbitration with non-serious cases after they were removed. The case cannot be take seriously on the grounds that, 1) Iscariot claims that everyone on the wiki is the other party, 2) There was no clearly stated reason for arbitration, his inital statement was "Regarding suburb pages", and 3) Looking at his last 250 contributions (extending back to the 15th of May) have not had anything to do with suburb pages (the most recent edit to a suburb page was 18:41, 4 May 2008 as far as I can tell). In addition there has been no attempt to rectify any perceived issue on his behalf with the users of the wiki. I have left the page as is since I don't want it to turn into an edit war. What's that? No, I didn't think you could.
- This is the first time someone else has brought me to A/VB, given my lack of faith in the administration pages and in the sysops I can't wait to see which way the coin lands for this decision.
- Also, I'm directly involved in his case, so can post as much as I want here...:) -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 17:59, 7 July 2008 (BST)
- Precedent. And funnily enough, I think my case was much more serious than this one. Also, stop playing the persecuted victim. It's not gaining you any sympathy. -- Cheese 18:03, 7 July 2008 (BST)
- Wasn't talking to you. Go looking for your stolen sheep. Also as none of you have actually ascertained the reasons why the case is relevant, I'd thank members of the administrating team who are not ruling to refrain from inferring bias to sway any decision. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 18:07, 7 July 2008 (BST)
- The case is not relevant. If you want to discuss suburb pages, go to Open Discussion or Policy Discussion. Arbitration is purely for solving edit disputes. Since I don't see you being involved in any relevant edit disputes, I can come to the reasonable conclusion that you are just attempting to be a jackass and get some attention by posting a case that cannot proceed past arbitrator selection. If everyone else on the wiki is the opposing side then it would not be ethical or fair for them to arbitrate. As a result, I rule this to be blatant Vandalism on the grounds of spamming the Arbitration pages in bad faith. -- Cheese 18:18, 7 July 2008 (BST)
- It's a shame I can't drag you to A/M for lack of logical reasoning. Also you speech about the ethics and fairness of someone involved in a case also arbitrating is nieve at best and blatant ignorance at worst. You might have a point if I had rejected anyone, you'll actually find I've accepted someone in order to further the process... but lack of rational thinking doesn't seem to be a crime ffor our trusted users. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 18:25, 7 July 2008 (BST)
- No matter how much you whinge, moan and complain you will not change my mind. Resorting to personal attacks is not the way to go about things. Now please, accept my ruling and stop playing the victim. If you don't like the way things are run with "stupid syops" and "rules" then leave. It'd only take a single click to go to a different site or close the browser. -- Cheese 18:37, 7 July 2008 (BST)

- I oppose Krazy Monkey's ruling. Until such time as he outlines his case we have absolutely no way of determining if the case is stupid or not, or made in bad faith. This is a very, very clear case of someone assuming bad faith right from the get go and then looking for stuff to support that assumption, which is a direct violation of A/G. I encourage Iscariot to make his case and arguments plain as soon as possible to put this matter to rest. He should have done it right at the start. The only vandalism here was done by Jedaz and yourself in removing them in the first place. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 03:11, 8 July 2008 (BST)

Even giving my very low opinion of Arbitration and the cesspool that it is I don't see how anyone can say that making an arby case is vandalism. If a user feels that they have an issue that needs attention how can anyone say they are wrong? Most of arby's cases are "my feelings were hurt by this user" since most other issues are resolved by logic or consensus. If a case is truly stupid then everyone will decline to "arbitrait" it and it will go away. I think it is a slippery slope to tell users that they can't post any arby case when it is still being used to settle personal matters. I look at this particular case like Jorm's stupid policy policy. Let it develop and see where it goes before you jump on the bandwagon. I guess I'll throw out a Not Vandalism here to counter Cheese.--– Nubis NWO 03:44, 8 July 2008 (BST)
Anyone remember the "Deletions page for deletion" fiasco? Messing with admin pages in this way has always been seen as vandalsim even when it has a point behind it and I don't really think introducing "value judgements" is always a good idea if we are going to aim for fairness. That said I don't think anything more than a slap on the wrist is really caled for. --Honestmistake 09:35, 8 July 2008 (BST)
Not Vandalism the first time, just remove it and make it clear that it's not to happen again. Precedent.--Karekmaps?! 14:15, 8 July 2008 (BST)
Not vandalism - but only barely. Replacing J3D's joke arby case was totally unjustified... his own only barely justified at the time, and seeing as Iscariot hasn't elaborated on what his problem is with the whole wiki and suburb pages since, I've removed the two case again (actually moved them to the talk page). If he replaces J3D's again, I will view it as vandalism, if he replaces his own without giving a decent overview as to his problem, I may well view that as vandalism too. Make it good, or take it to the talk page, where I moved it to -- boxy talk • i 14:19 8 July 2008 (BST)
- The fact that a sysop can arbitrarily decide which cases are valid and which cases are not in a system designed to be free from moderation is a development I find disturbing, and one that can only have negative consequences in the future. Particularly when there are procedures in place to cycle cases already built into the page. This is a clear indication of the sysop team moving from a position of trust and maintenance into one of moderation in my mind, this is not good for the community. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 22:51, 10 July 2008 (BST)

- It was something I added so that no-one thought that this particular template was deleted for the reason all the others were up for deletion. I certainly didn't mean to impersonate anyone. Confirmed alt of Novascotia. Looks like Boxy missed him in the month ban thingy. I've applied it to this guy as well. Ban circumvention. -- Cheese 22:50, 3 July 2008 (BST)

- Not sure. Where do you get that from? If he is, then it's permabans all round. -- Cheese 23:18, 3 July 2008 (BST)
- Look at Rrnman's contributions. There's an edit to Ahrimmagicks sock Austin's sig, a post on The Surgeon General's talkpage (Ahrimmagicks was briefly tutored by TSG through Project Mentor), there's an edit to Suicidalangel's talkpage (Ahrimmagicks was banned for vandalism to SA's userpage, and was always stealing code off him), and two edits to Zinker's userpage.
- Look at Red Rev Net's history. Note how Ahrimmagicks is replaced by Austin, who, once banned, is replaced by Rrnman.
- Finally, look at User:Rrnman/sandbox. Compare to Ahrimmagicks' userpage. Both crude code thefts from SA. --Sir Bob Fortune RR 23:32, 3 July 2008 (BST)
- Nice one. I've been doing some digging of my own and came up with the Red Rev link and a few edits between pages as well. It may be circumstantial but at the very least shows some sort of connection between the accounts. An accidental edit here and there can bring a sock puppeteer down.
