Monroeville Badges
Just so you know there are survivors (although very few) that are still roaming around in Monroeville. It would be nice if you could give some kind of emblematic badge of appreciation for the few that made it this far. Monroeville Airlift
Hi Kevan, I am one of the few remaining survivors in Monroeville. With the Christmas update being implemented, I was curious to know if I set up a Christmas tree and some lights in a building for a few days, would a Helicopter come by and take my character to Malton? Iwitness typo
Got really bored, and noticed there was a typo.
"What does it mean if a record is PUBLIC or PRIVATE?
Public records are just that- anybody can (if they take the time to look) find them and look at the information they contain. Private records are hidden in directories whose contents are not open to the public view, and the random number string appended to the end of the file name makes it impossible for anybody to find them through luck or accident. "Private" records are in fact so hard to locate that if you don't record their location, you'll never them again. That's OK when you just want to share a quick secret with some friends in a private chat room or secure forum, though- just copy the link and paste it somewhere you and you friends can find it, but others will not see it! User accounts do provide a way to retrieve all of the private records a user creates while logged into that account, so while still quite private, they are not going to vanish. User accounts also potentially allow for other levels of security; all of these are essentially private records that only certain people can see, or which do not display all of the details of the record in order to protect the privacy and safety of "innocent bystanders".

Suicide Repair
Most of the time it isn't easy to let a building reach the higher levels of decay and takes the effort of multiply zombie players. Lately as more buildings reach higher level of decay we see a raise in suicide repairs. Where survivors just spent all their AP and more to repair a long time ruined building and prepare to get eaten and revived. If suicide repairing was not what you where going for with the implemention of decay, please consider changes like:
a)Make it impossible to spent more AP on repairing than are left to this character, and probably setting a cap at 45AP as a maximum for decay.
or b)Repair only removes some part of the decay level and not all at once. Probably like tearing down barricades. --Experiment211 21:15, 13 July 2008 (BST)

A Little Idea for Group Affiliations
I've had an idea and would like to submit it for your consideration. Would it be possible to add in the option of a URL link added to a player's group affiliation, a la the current system with the 'Real Name' links? This would be very useful for players looking to join a group and for groups looking to recruit players, especially zombie groups who lack the ability to spray-paint places without death-culting. Whilst the RN link is used by some, myself included, for recruitment, more likely than not the majority will simply not bother clicking it after the first few times they have done that on a profile have taken them to YouTube songs or Rick-rolls. A link under the group affiliation would draw more desirable attention.
There are two ways in which I could see this working: The first is to have the group affiliation act in the same way as the Real Life link, with the player choosing the URL; the second would be to have the GA act as the list of confirmed groups on the stats page does: An automatic link to the wiki page of said confirmed group. My personal belief is that the latter would be the superior option, so as to avoid abuse via unsavoury links which would undermine trust in the system (this is of course going under the assumption that you have a system which makes the links appear automatically on the stats page, rather than having to add them all in yourself of course).
Just my thought for the early morning.

- FWIW, my personal version of 'ActOnProfile' already modifies the group name to be a link to the wiki page for that group. Its pretty handy, even if just to find out the group has no page. A fancier GM script could easily determine if the page actually exists, and not make it a link if it doesn't, which would be nice. Server side code could likely do the same thing better. Monroeville and headshot
All the high level survivors I know (about 30) have been holding out for the return of perma-death headshot with the quarantine. I see the quarantine is back, but everything still says that headshot is not permanent. Is this the case? If you're not bringing it back then you might as well close down the server or at least tell us officially. Because as currently constituted only one side can win, and though we could probably prolong things indefinitely I fail to see the point. --Babe's Ghost 03:59, 17 August 2008 (BST)
- I couldn't agree more with this post. Staying alive as a member of an organized group in Monroeville is possible but it takes a large amount of coordination and effort. I fail to see the "game" part of current Monroeville on the survivor side, something permanent headshot would bring to the table. - The evidence of the most recent opening of Monroeville suggests that it takes about 6 weeks for the city to go from totally survivor-dominated to totally destroyed with the survivors on the run and hiding in the wreckage. Therefore, it seems to me that the most fun and interesting way to do it would be to run Monroeville in cycles. Every five to six weeks or so switch the rules to give one side or the other the advantage. So, having now had an extened Zombie Friendly period of time, you allow the Survivors to have their turn for a month and a half with closed borders and "permanent" (until the next cycle) headshot. Then re-open it to new admissions with the usual "Zombies stand back up" rules for a month and a half, then close it again and so on and so forth. That way, both sides always have something to look forward to and there's always something to plan for. Frankly, this solution still favors the Zombies somewhat in that a dead Survivor still never gets a chance to come back to life, but its significantly more fair than the current situation where Survivors can never repair a building for more than a couple of days before getting buried under a tide of zombies. While that may accurately reflect the desperate conditions of the later Dead movies and some of the supporting fiction, its not much fun to be a Survivor under these circumstances, and this is a game. --jng2058 12:54, 17 August 2008 (BST)

Maybe that's in keeping with Romero's cannon, but it puts survivors in an unwinnable position and leaves the zombies without enough challenge to stave off boredom. - Look at the contribs of an older member, like myself. Ive ben around and posting since october 2005. you will see pretty much nothingb that old. A history purge is just that, a deletion of all revisions older than a certain age from the database. Its one of the reasons we make archive pages. Enough is enough, already. Please ban open proxies from accessing Urban Dead, because this is just too common -- and if anything is going to kill this game and the community it's zerging. There is a massive level of frustration over zerging, though honestly it's not brought up because people are fatalistic, figuring you're not going to do anything about it. But there are people willing and able to assist with the coding, with helping to set this up, you just need to say "Yes" to getting the ball rolling. Please consider it, consider something... Because it's a serious problem ((that is, the use of proxies). This guy in the post I linked to likely had his alts banned, and just kept making more and more to replace them... which, if true, shows that algorithm works against "normal" multi-abusers. But when you're dealing with proxies, you can completely circumvent those algorithms. And that's the problem... Active players usually encounter at least a couple obvious "zerg teams" every week... And a lot more less obvious but suspicious ones... It's very frustrating for those who try to play "by the book"... And while we generally just "shrug and bear it", still... There was a discussion on Beerhah.com about this... Where some people were attempting to seriously address the issue and then come to you with some solutions. Sadly, interest seemed to wane once Finis Valorum apparently left the game... However, I am going to copy what was probably the most relevant and hopefully most useful post in that discussion. As you'll see, the solution was not an algorithm and/or set of "suspicious" IPs, etc. -- which I gather was you were talking about above? Rather, the main idea it was using a list of known proxies and simply banning them. I actually think the wiki sysops have a pretty long list of banned proxies, for a start perhaps that could be used...
And, no solution is going to perfect. There will always be holes, always ways around whatever measures you impliment. As the post I'll copy discusses. That, I think, is pretty well understood. However, the point is to make it as difficult as possible for people to cheat. Open proxies are just too easy to find and use... Now, I don't know if paying for a proxy list is going to be effective, or a waste of money, considering how much these things change, apparently -- that's something someone with the right knowledge would have to decide. Kevan, please do this: community appointed UD moderators. These trusted moderators will ban obvious zerging reported by players. To investigate zerging only basic information is needed: history of when the zergs all logged in, and how long they've been around each other. 95% of zergers are stupid and lazy and will be caught this way. I'm kind of new, so forgive me if this is stupid... Am I correct in assuming that a lot of these zerg characters are level 1, or to a lesser degree level 2 that seldom level up or even gain XP but are used as scouts. If that's the case then I would think that any real account is going to gain XP and level up within reasonable time periods. If that's the case then would purging level 1 & 2 characters that don't level in say a month get rid of a lot of zergs? - Most zergs (despite the name) do infact end up leveling up, check out all the GTFO zergs for an example. The one's that do stay at lvl 1 and 2 are throw aways that won't be used again anyway, so deleting them wouldn't have any effect except to free up the account name to be used by another player. Database errors
We are getting some infrequent, but still painfully annoying database errors. Last night when i was trying to edit A/VD i couldnt because of them, and we lost two current revisions on a page here to them as well. About the proxy issues...
this site: http://www.gmodtop100.com/ had a similar iddue which involved everyone giving themselves votes using proxyies from proxy.org Recently the website restted all the lists and when I tried to give hits to my gmod clan, I discovered that by some sort of meckanism they had managed to block proxies from being able to vote. I know they hadn't simply banned them because even my top secret proxy was blocked and I had never used it to access the website before. - It's really not as simple as some people seem to think. Web-based CGI or PHP proxies, or even SOCKS/HTTP proxies, are merely the tip of the iceberg – anyone with any decent technical expertise or friends with same can bypass any proxy list you care to come up with. Sure, it might be helpful, but it won't be a silver bullet, as Kevan alluded to above. Either way, we'll need to continue with community-based solutions, as well as any additional technological measures that may be implemented. And remember...

Future history wipes
Would it be possible leave a few more months worth of page histories next time a wipe is done? It's making it very hard to evaluate and track deletion requests, vandal histories and the like when histories just weeks old are missing, making it especially difficult to determine who should have "ownership rights" of group pages. Loosing histories will always be a problem, but the problem can be lessened significantly if you could keep it to older edits -- boxy talk • i 16:56 20 September 2008 (BST)

Bug, "zerg flag", or what?
This alt has recently tried searching for FAKs in a powered Mall with *no* success. 'Tis far more than bad luck... All other actions seem to working just fine, and I really can't see how a zerg flag could have been activated, even accidentally. Is this a bug, some unannounced change, or has a zerg flag somehow been activated? Anyone else had anything similar happen? But if it is a bug, then I'll report it normally... Coup II
I have regularly spoken to you of the abuses of adminsistrator and the flaws of the system. I have begged, and pleaded for you to become involved in fixing these problems. You have told me to do it myself. Tow/three days ago i notified you of my intent to stage a coup on this wiki and enforce a better way, at the very least as a trial run. I also informed you that you could call it off simply by telling me "no". Since you havent responded, and circumstances have cospired to make such an option impossible in the immediate future due to the very corruption that has taken root, i have been forced to go ahead earlier than i would have liked. Publicity of Big Brother house location

- Unless Kevan comes out and says otherwise, this is no different than any other location in the game. Removing it is in no way different to a group of trenchies removing Giddings Mall from the map in case MOB comes to visit. Information is free. Censorship is bad.
- This wiki is a game resource, not a vehicle for censorship so that certain players can increase their chances of winning a DVD.

Mediawiki Update
Hi, just wondering if there any chance of getting wiki software updated? The latest version is v1.13 and there are several useful new features, including:
- Expiry dates on page protections
- Finer control over permissions and permission assignment (e.g. Assigning the ability to remove only certain groups)
- Ability to merge page histories
- AJAX-based page watching and a bunch of usability improvements (User information when viewing a deleted revision, predefined deletion reasons, useful links in various places, etc.)

Amount of characters in a broadcast
I was wondering, Since I started the Galaxy News Radio i've found that the very small amount of characters you can use is at best, a thorn in my side, couldn't it be possible to make the transmission amount of characters the same as for speaking, it makes perfect sense really --Three Dog 21:35, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

- Actually it's probably more of a necessary thing like the 50 people limit in normal speak is. Trade?
Sorry to bother you but I was wondering why survivors can't trade. This could lead to more eaisly avalible equipment, I think there would be a limit thou. Generators couldn't be traded etc. I think that it might help the humans in a bunch of Unbalanced claims. Players could not trade to same Ip address characters would stop cheating and it could lead to characters traveling round Malton selling there wares which would be fun to see. Character Deleted
I wanted to make sure that this |bug was fixed but it appears that it is not fixed. If you are on the edge of Malton and go to http:urbandead.com/map.cgi?v=100-99 it will mess up your character. - The wiki is an information source. Almost everything is explained in game when you encounter it (1st death, 1st Rez. etc.) So, not every one needs to touch the wiki or even use it as a resource.
- The wiki is the worst place to organize and meta-game. Just ask DHPD. When we were just Project:T.I.M.E. (well, before the Dead/DoDH) we were seriously outnumbered by them, but because they had all of their profiles linked on here and updated where they were going to be and who they were working with and so on we knew enough about them to take them out. The wiki shouldn't be for the meta-game it should be for information. That's why most groups of note have an off site forum to metagame. - Much as I hate the way Iscariot is going about his crusade I have to say he does have a point. The sysop team probably does not represent the view of even a large minority of players and that explains why so few players contribute. Not that i think its all the Admin teams fault, but the rules they follow and enforce reflect a community that no longer exist. Most sysops were promoted long before most current players even heard of the game yet the tag "trusted user" is still attached to the title "SYSOP". Few current wiki users vouched for them and fewer still of the actual player base and yet they still cling to positions claiming that "popular" votes undermine the system! They are right that popularity does not mean competence but... Franky i find it a bit odd that sysops can claim the label "trusted user" and not be willing to allow the community to confirm that label. Look back to Conn's promotion bid, or Boxy's or Hagnats or even Kareks and even without checking i can say with confidence that at least half those that vouched are no longer active.... Now i personally Would vouch for them all but my point is that they were not voted in by the current community and the claims that they are trusted users wear very thin in light of the fact that they do not seem willing to trust the communities opinion on pretty much any issue!--Honestmistake 02:15, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

- I agree that the only bits of the wiki that interest most players are the Maps, suggestions and suburb reports (I include maps because i assumed you had forgotten them?) that said i do think that the system is set up to support the views of long time players (contributors) rather than the new players who are actually the lifeblood of the game. While obviously the wiki needs to pay some attention to long time editors like me,wan,cyberbob,ahlg,etc... i would think it would be far more important to promote the wiki to new uers. I still play (and i hope/assume that those named do too) and i would hope that everyone on the admin team does to but it has to be said that without change the game becomes dull and people leave. Updating the Wiki software, 2.0
The wiki software, as it stands, is two years old (ish, in the coming month.) As well as the obvious bugfixes and minor changes that can't be gone into detail here, 1.13.3 of MediaWiki has some useful new features that we could use:
- Expiry dates on page protections

There are heaps of other changes-you can look at the release notes linked here. I know that updating the server will take some time, but it would be nice if you could add it to your busy schedule.

Xmas
Xmas is over, and there are clearly no more Xmas decorations or trees, but the update message was not changed, and there is still the option to hold onto Xmas decorations if found. Misconduct Case Feb 2009
A user has brought a case over on the Administration: Misconduct page that indicts every member of the administration team except your personal account and the Urban Dead admin account also controlled by yourself. Due to the obvious problems with ruling on cases in which you are also a named party, none of the current administration team may rule on the case (that is if they conform to the community's policies). Possible Massive Zerging in Dunell Hills
About three days ago a large number of new characters all called "TheDeadDie" (i.e., TheDeadDie1 http://urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=1467702, TheDeadDie15 http://urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=1467737, etc.) started appearing in Dunell Hills. The first the DHPD heard of it was this iWitness report.

There are now, apparently, over 100 of these characters.
Obviously there is an outside possibility this is a large group of new players but, on the whole, it looks like zerging on a massive scale.
The DHPD are currently trying to find out more about the situation and deal with it. We thought we should give you a heads up, however, in case there was something obvious in the server logs that would provide definitive proof of zerging and allow swift action to be taken at your end. - Back in the Day Xoid and I had to do some research on the TOS because of a user abusing in serious violation of them. However I've gone looking and haven't been able to find the references anywhere still on the Wiki. It was probably on a talk page of some article that was deleted in an edit without being archived. The primary gist of it was this... any form of intimidation that went beyond a certain level of namecalling and usual wiki BS was a violation, ESPECIALLY if it included "real world"tm threats of harm or violence. Also included were any situation where hosted domains were used to damage the effectiveness of another website or host (as an example you couldn't use any part of the host to launch a d.o.s. attack on another domain. Not that this was really possible by anyone but Kevan. Also iirc the Wiki and the Game were on different hosts at teh time but I'm pretty sure that has changed since then. I don't know. - I really don't think a 'lack' of updates is the reason for dropping numbers. I'm not 100% sure the balance of some of the more recent updates is quite right but that isn't my call. But the game doesn't need a barrage of updates coming out every other month. - Making an update is a lot more than just coding it. The balance needs to be thought of thoroughly and it needs to be tested. These things take time. Sure, Kevan could probably push out one update a week if he wanted to and wasn't lazy, but those would be unbalanced and buggy updates. Unbalanced and buggy updates are more likely to drive people away than a lack of updates. The game simply doesn't need to change every month, not even every couple of months. Where to suggest technical issues?

- Speaking of weird things, is it intentional for Flesh Rotters to get the benefits while alive? I'd have thought that since they were alive, their flesh wasn't rotting, so they wouldn't get the Flak+Body Building effects while alive. Firstly, about that MediaWiki upgrade. Sorry if I'm pestering you, it's just that it would be quite useful (an upgrade to Checkuser would be nice as well, I've seen screenshots of a later version and it looks like it streamlines the process a little.)

Finally, and on a pedantic note, would it be okay if you could turn the Guides namespace into a proper one? So Talk:Guides:Shelter is rendered as Guides talk:Shelter. As far as I know, there are a few in the Guide: namespace too, so we'll have some moving to do if this is done (sysops, of course.)

- "overflow:auto" is a standard spambot trick for hiding all their links in a 1px div, which I think we were having trouble with a few years ago. The filtering is possibly hardcoded somewhere.
- If there's general support for another namespace, point me at the discussion and I'll add it.

Suggesting Suggestions Change
I want your opinion on a proposed change I have to the Suggestions Layout. I’d think it would be more efficient to have a normal suggestions area, a clothing suggestions area, and a humorous suggestions area, all with links listed one after the other on the main voting page. I also see the humorous suggestions layout is a bit confusing, and I would recommend splitting it into 2 parts, the funny and the non-funny, then splitting it into the many categories (areas of effect) under each heading. I’d also ask if the humorous suggestions voting process would become something similar to the normal process, with each suggestion open for 2 weeks, but no SPAM votes (just FUNNY or NOT FUNNY). Would this be a viable option? I’d think the layout changes should at least make it easier to find and view them all.
I would also like to know if there’s a process for suggesting that certain stuff be added to the Frequently Suggested section on the main voting area. There seem to be some common ones I’d like to have added to the list.
I also have a question about the normal voting process that only you can answer. Does SPAM=STRONG KILL? I see it’s still a common issue today, and it’s still debated if you can vote SPAM for a strong kill, or only vote SPAM if a suggestion is game-breaking or horribly unnecessary. Huge Ruin bug could leave the whole of Borehamwood caded in less than a month.
Hey Kevan,
Wednesday night a member of my borehamwood survivor group did a very large suicide repair, when he logged himself back on, he found he had 50ap and the building was repaired.
Thursday night, I attempted my own suicide repair and yet again the same thing happened.
We've done a lot of suicide repairs and as such we know that these were the highest repairs we have attempted. And they both worked. To check our findings, we asked another survivor to repeat the experiment, to confirm our spadework was correct.
It was. Not only that, but this survivor was able to enact the repair, recade the building to ehb and then enact ANOTHER suicide repair, which left them BACK on 50ap. In fact the survivor managed to repeat this 6 times. With one character. In one day. Before the 300 IP for one character kicked in.
At this time 4 of us survivors know the exact technique, but at least 10 others are pretty close to working it out (AP levels etc). I reckon by sunday all 51 survivors will have worked it out.
As it stands the whole challenge of surviving borehamwood is moot. We can't do coma repairs on 99% of buildings without this happening, and Im not expecting zeds to hang around with this giant loophole. It also destroys the smugness us survivors have from surviving for 6 months.
All 4 survivors who do know the trick have currently stopped repairing buildings within the range, but I can't control the whole population.
At the minute survivors could repair the whole of NE Borehamwood, Radlett or Elstree in a day, 1 survivor could reclaim the big brother house on their own,
Apologies for the lack of screenshots, but with permadeath as it is, we don't want to give away our position.

- When you say massive repair, do you mean it's bringing you to under -255 AP? I could think of some weird wrapping thing happening when the AP gets too negative and it tries to make it positive or something, capping at the 50 AP norm. 255's the magic number for how large a single byte can represent. This bug
As promised, I'm just giving you a heads up regarding this display error that happens when UDToolbar interacts with the new update. We suspected it was a clash between the UDToolbar's manual HP colouriser and the new update colouriser, and Moonshine was able to go through some code to try and give you a hand. Upgrading the wiki again
It's about that time of year. The wiki could use an upgrade, among the various features mentioned many times in the past that upgrading to a more up to date mediawiki version would provide as of 1.14 there is now a NewUsers log, which would be invaluable for catching throw away and vandal alt accounts like User:Izumi and User:3pwv used to use along with actually making user efforts to be welcoming like Welcomenewbie accountable and possibly useful. 1.14 also brought in the ability to view deleted user contributions(instead of just the current ones) for sysops, the ability to omit diffs after rollback, and a fix at least one particularly exploitable checkuser bug that would allow users to screw with the ability for sysops to search the logs.
I'd mention some of the features in previous version updates but I'm sure by now you're pretty well aware of them as it's been brought up many times in the past. 1.14, though, would significantly increase the ability for sysops to do their jobs when dealing with actual page vandalism and adbot spam along with helping the wiki, in general, run more smoothly from day to day.(1.15)(1.14)(1.13)(1.12)(1.11)(1.10)--Karekmaps?! 17:40, 1 September 2009 (BST)
FYI re: "satellite phone"
Hi. So I recently wrote a Greasemonkey script that adds a "satellite phone" to the game. It's a simple messaging system with a user interface that embeds itself into the game, by modifying the rendered page in the user's browser, as Greasemonkey does. The thing does resemble the in-game mobile phone quite a lot, by design. Here's more info.
This was discussed in Brainstock [3], and some people complained about it. It was said that this unbalances the game, "overpowers" a game item, bypasses game rules by e.g. allowing zombies to send messages. This wasn't a general opinion--I certainly find it all a bit silly--but someone then suggested that what should be done would be reporting it to you, letting you decide if this extension is improper somehow.

- Actually, it's not just a lack of timestamps. I've noticed that all of the ones that lack timestamps are also for people that are not at my location. For instance, in this screenshot, the ones with timestamps are for people actually at my location, while none of the ones without them were people at my location (there were more actions under those, but they all had timestamps and were for people at my location). Spawning
Just finished writing an article on it. I have a question that I can't really find out from spadework. If there were no Necrotech's in Malton below Heavily Barricaded, where would new Necrotech Assistant's spawn?

- Urban Dead might be popular if it wasn't such a broken game! What with the radical, nigh-unplayable imbalance that makes it utterly pointless to play a zombie. Oh, and that worthlessness carrying over to making it such a breeze to play a survivor. I mean there's absolutely no point in being a survivor when you can just stroll around the city without risking your neck. I mean even a large, dedicated horde of zombies (of which the game has, like, two) can't hold back one tenth their number in survivors.
- For a zombie apocalypse game, there are fuck all zombies and there is fuck all apocalypse. The only way anyone really has fun is either griefing or sitting around roleplaying all day. And who the fuck can grief properly when the game is a buggy, unfinished pile of shit that makes it literally impossible for one of the sides to win? Not to mention that if all you're doing in game is roleplaying, what's to stop you from just doing it on a forum? Oh wait, nothing whatsoever, which is why the fucking unofficial forums for this game have more action than the game itself.
- Urban Dead is broken, Kevan shows no interest in even looking into the billions of problems it has, so you're better off closing your browser and playing Left 4 Dead or something. Y'know, that's the zombie apocalypse game where the survivors face a credible threat that can't simply be trounced by locking a door and pushing a vending machine in front of it. - Well this "chap" thinks that if you're going to release something for public consumption, it shouldn't suck. The fact remains that the game is unbalanced, which makes it unfun. If, say, World of Warcraft made it so that the Horde had 1/10th the hit rate of the Alliance, Blizzard would be fucking crucified. Free or not, lousy design is lousy design. I'm not saying this out of entitlement or anything retarded like that, I am saying it as someone who wants to play the game without being gimped to fuck just because I want to be a zombie instead of a survivor. Of course, the alternative is for me (and the thousands of others who feel this way) to stop playing a game that is basically designed at the very basest level to screw us over. Then, WHOOPS! - I actually think that what 'ruined' the game (at least balance wise) was zombies... The very fact that they sucked to play forced people to either leave or organize, net result mega hordes that were basically unstoppable and forced buffs for survivors to give them a chance while making it even less rewarding to play a feral zed. To all intent and purpose this game has more sides than it was ever designed for. We have survivors and zombies but each of those are split into different play styles which the mechanics struggle to balance. Basically survivors are better at killing other survivors than zombies are and zombies often end up killing other zombies more than actual survivors. Hell, some survivors max out without even seeing a zombie and the game set-up makes it an unrewarding struggle to level a new character in a city full of veterans. At the end of the day I think this game needs to evolve before it dies.... New (short lifespan) cities are probably the best way forwards in my opinion because the early days with their actual struggle to survive against 'equals' are great fun, the sense of discovery of a new place also really adds spice too. But hey, too many people seem attached to their maxed characters that they hardly ever play anymore to even contemplate such a thing! --Honestmistake 00:44, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

- Maybe fixing the ABYSMAL hit rates for zombies might help. I mean, supposedly I have a 30% chance of hitting with a bite attack against a given target for 1 AP. Now, I can easily spend (and have spent) 15 AP and only hit on that last, 15th attempt. What are the chances of this happening? Mathematically, you say it was (3/10)^15, or a 0.000001% chance. That isn't "bad luck", that goes beyond "bad luck" and into the realms of "your coding is so shitty if I saw it I would try to flush". There is actually more chance of me rolling the same number 10 times in a row on a regular six-sided die than there is of me missing that many attacks. Want Kevan to build you your own city to your own ideas? He's done it before for distribution companies, just do the same thing they did. Pay the man. Kevan's a professional, pay him his hourly rate if you want something. You're entitled to shit for free. He's nice enough to continue to let the game be played for free, so let's say enough with the comparisons to the money gouging and spyware installing World of Warcrack. Ask the man nicely how much your own city would be, plus an hourly rate for any bugs that appear, plus a negotiated set figure of each major update. Then go have a bake sale, car wash or just start selling organs on the black market and give Kevan the money for the work you want him to do.

I'm sure things are updated regularly, for maintance, ect.,.... things that wouldn't normally be reflected in the game updates. Just out of curiosity, what is the current status of the "Game Updates" though? A couple days before April Fools i was surfing the wiki and decided to look it up. The pranks there were hilarious! Especially the 2008/2009 ones. I couldn't wait to see what would come out next. But nothing happened and the wiki said you didn't do anything. Any specific reason? - I was actually halfway through some other updates in late March, and decided against diverting any of that development time for an April Fool's joke.
